Inserting text over an image in dreamweaver cc

I am trying to insert text over an image in fluid grid layout but all i can see is the text. I have seen the previous query relating to this but it does not help. Help on this would be great.

Layers or APDivs won't work in FluidGrid Layouts. You'll need to drop the image into your container's background with CSS. Or use Photoshop to apply text directly to your graphic.

• How can I insert text on an image via IPhoto?

I am still learning about my IMac and primary use for it was mainly for my photo images. At the moment attempting to build a new website via IWeb and as part of the site will be numerous images. However, when making up the albums, I wanted to have text on my images but alas on the face of it I cannot see how this is possible as part of the existing IPhoto software - could any member advise how it can be done?
My alternative at the moment is to use Adobe Photoshop on my Windows based Laptop, insert text on the image, save and then upload to my IMac into my Album - mmmm a bit long winded to say the least! Regardless, thanks in advance.

You can learn to do this with the Preview app already on your Mac.
Open Preview. Make sure that the Annotate button appears in the Toolbar. If the button is not already there, select Customize Toolbar from Preview's View menu. Drag the Annotate button (the pencil) to your your preferred location on the Toolbar.
Open a photo in Preview, press the Annotate button and use the Annotate tools to add your text. You will find instructions on annotating files and documents in Preview Help in the Help menu.

• How do I insert a substitute image over another image? Dreamweaver CC

I want to have a picture with theres to words "photos" and "videos" (on top of this image).
And i would like that they get underlined- individually- when you scroll your mouse on top of each one.
I was planning on using a substitute image of the letters -a picture of the original word and a picture of the underlines word as a substitute- but I can't find a div that will let me insert a substitute image on top of the bigger picture.
I have tried slicing the image in photoshop so that the part of the picture with the word on top is just a square that i can use for the substitute image, but the pictures can´t be right next to each other to form the whole picture!

Yes, Ill be more specific.
I have an image and over the image there are two words: "photos" "videos".
I want to do the following: when you scroll the mouse on top of the word "photos", the word "photos" gets underlined and you can click on it and it will have a link to another page.
Now, I normally insert an "imagen de sustitucion" which i think is a substitute image and it works perfectly. But then I cant move that image to be ON TOP of the picture i want to use as a kind of backround to these words.

• How to create-Form text field to simultaneously preview the text over an image

I am trying to make a web page similar to the link below…where when a customer types in the form text field, and simultaneously, the text will preview in another area of the webpage over and image. See example when you create a label @ www.customwinesource.com custom labels…http://www.customwinesource.com/index.cfm?method=storepairing.listPairing&wineryid=auto
Any help would be much appreciated

I wasn't able to (easily) find anything in the way of a textfield to type something into that you describe, but you can assign code for input textfields to detect when something changes in them and take action from that event. How you do it depends on which version of actionscript you are using.

• Question about layering text over an image

Hi -- I am trying to place a layer of text over a ghosted image that I've imported into ID from Photoshop. By "ghosted" I mean that the image has a layer of white fill over it that has been set at 50% opacity. ID won't let text be layered on top of the imported image, no matter how many different ways I've tried to accomplish this. It will allow another image to be layered on top, but not text. If I place a text frame over the ghosted image and type even one letter, the red text overset warning icon appears.
I tried applying the text in Photoshop and that works just fine until the file gets imported into ID, at which point the text looks terrible, having become somehow degraded in transit. I am fairly new to ID and PS, and would appreciate any helpful input.
Thanks!
~Artemis

Sounds like text wrap is applied to either the image or the frame above it, or both. Eihter turn it off if you don't need it for other reasons, or for the frame you want to use on top of it open the Text Frame Options and check the Ignore Text Wrap box in the lower left corner.

• Is it possible to move text inside an image in dreamweaver cs4?

Hello, on a site I'm working on, I want a consistant background logo. I already have my heading, and I just want to move the heading text into the image. Is there any way to do this?
A quick response would be great.
-Dimitri

There are a few ways to do it, without seeing a link to your page, it's hard to give you exactly what you need, but you can turn the logo into a background image of a
then use standard html text to write over the top of it. Something like this...
In your css, add...
#logo {
background-image:url(yourimage.jpg);
Then in your html, add...
<div id="logo>Your text here

• Need to insert text next to image in popup.

Hi there. I have picked up a free image wall here:
http://tympanus.net/codrops/2011/08/30/automatic-image-montage/
It works great, but now I am messing with it.
I have managed to get the images, or at least the first one, to open in a popup, great. Trouble is I want to be able to have text next to the image in the popup window. I tried
to see if I could do it with a tooltip, which would have been crap, but didn't work anyway. I can't think where to put the text, and how?
didn't work either, it flashed up before the imagewall opened.
Here is the popup code:

I think I should use a caption of some sort but lord knows how. I think I could make a second image with the text included next to it as a the popup, but this is for a dress hire shop and that would involve photoshopping the second image every time a change was made. I want the text to be editable just in a text editor.
I would also like to insert a link in the popup.
Cheers folks

The problem is that you are opening a .jpg image in the popup.

While that does work... all you get is an image.
A better way to do the popup window is to create a new, small HTML Web page that contains your image as well as any text or other content you want. Because it's just a regular HTML page, you can style the text and page layout (including links) with CSS, just as you would any other Web page.
so then you href would look something like this:
<a href="JavaScript:newPopup2(my_popup.html)..........
For working example:
http://www.worldbarefootcenter.com/
Scroll to very bottom of page and see multiple popups, each being a small HTML Web page simply displayed in a popup window rather than a new tab. View the source code if you need further info. I'm using a slightly different method to open the popup, but the idea is, use an HTML page rather than just an image.
Best wishes,

I want to add a hyperlink over the big images which appears when you click on bedrooms for example. There are 9 small images in the right side and 1 big image on the left. I changed all the images but I want also to add hyperlinks on some big images. The action script import an xml file like:

• Inserting a differently shaped image into Dreamweaver

I am new to Dreamweaver, and I am attempting to create my first website. I have a background pattern covering my site, and when I insert an elliptical image into the site, I am left with triangular white corners around the ellipse, I have been struggling and I feel that I am missing an easy fix here. How do I import my elliptical image without the white corners? The image is one that I have created in photoshop, and it is a single layered image on a 320 x 210 canvas.

The halo effect is a common problem with gif, try using a png with a transparent background.

Update: Also check the dpi of your image.

• How do I place translucent text over an image in InDesign?

I have placed text on top of an image and am trying to make it look translucent. However, when I select the text box, go to Object > Effects > Transparency, select Text and reduce opacity to 70% and hit OK, it does reduce the transparency of the text but also appears to raise the brightness of the image underneath. I've also tried putting the text in a separate layer from the image but it still happens. How can I make it so that just the text changes? Thanks in advance.

Which version of InDesign are you seeing this issue in danni95?
I can't replicate the issue in InDesign CC (2014.1 Release).
However, am thinking what you are seeing is related to the display of transparency. If the InDesign document were to be converted to PDF v1.3 (Acrobat 4 compatibility) or EPS, the text will be outlined, and the text frame area will become a rasterized region.
There's a couple of things you could do to check all is OK, and things are merely a display issue.
Open up the Effects panel (Window > Effects) and ensure that the 70% opacity on Text is the only setting applied. No other Effects, Blending Modes or Opacity settings applied elsewhere?
View the document with Overprint Preview enabled (View > Overprint Preview). Do you still see the issue? If it disappears, I'd not be too concerned with the issue, as in final output things will be OK.
Thirdly you can try using the Flattener Preview panel (Window > Output > Flattener Preview), to further isolate the issue.

• How to add watermark text over an image

I add a watermark text in the corner of all my images in photoshop before putting them on the web. I use a text layer, emboss it, blur it, choose hard light and position it.
I am new to Lightroom. I am using an Intel iMac with up to date lightroom. Is there any way I can have some sort of preset in lightroom which will add this watermark to images in lightroom? I have the image saved as a separate document so technically all I would need to do is tell lightroom to apply this image to the selected photos.
Is this possible?
Regards

Alex, I do something similar to what you want to do, we use the Web module to create a flash slide show for proofs on a CD. Export all the images, sized for web use to a folder. Do a Photoshop action that adds your watermark. Re-import the finished files, go to Web module & upload. You should look into Mogrify, as it will add whatever watermark image, or text you want to, and has an "upload to an FTP server after export" function. I have not used this, as we don't upload to a studio website.

• Is it possible to include text over an image from i-photo?

I wish to overlay one of my images with a caption but have no idea of what I would initially have to do with the original image to get to the stage of including text/wordart etc. Can anyone help?

You'll need an external editor for work like that.
In order of price here are some suggestions:
Seashore (free)
The Gimp (free)
Graphic Coverter ($45 approx)
Acorn ($50 approx)
Pixelmator ($50 approx)
Photoshop Elements ($75 approx)
There are many, many other options. Search on MacUpdate. You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.

• How do I insert text on top of an image

I've got my masthead at the top of my page, and now I want to add text - log in / join / subscribe - which will be links that change based on the user's state (ie, log in switches to log out). How do I insert this text over the image in Dreamweaver cs4?
Help much appreciated!!!
Thanks!

If you use the image as a background image on the masthead via your stylesheet, you can then place whatever you want over the top of it.
