INSIGNIA 55 LCD TV

Hello, I am a Reward Zone Premier Silver Member and I purchase ALL my electronics at Best Buy, I recently purchased this 55 inch LCD Insignia this July 28, 2012, about a month and a half ago I noticed something on the left side of the screen, white ghosting and it just stayed on and becoming even whiter, now it gotten even worst and on the bottom left side of the screen now have a "burn-in" spot- dime size-yellow color, I called Insignia and explained to them and I was told that its a bad panel and needs to be replaced. So I called GeekSquad and a Tech is coming to look at it. That has re-scheduled 2 times already because of he was double booked. I buy ALL my electronics at BestBuy and always get the Protection Plan with it, this will be the first time I am using this service. I have 3 Panasonic brand TV's (thru BestBuy) and never had any issues with them. Now this Insignia with less than 6 months of use already has major issues already. I am not comfortable in even keeping this TV now just that fact of the matter. I want to keep my business with BestBuy because so far ALL the "name brand' stuff I bought is holding up for years, just this one bothers me now. I got this TV as an "open box" and at a discounted price- someone has returned it- I should've known better but the sales person reassured me of this TV that it will hold up like name brands they have. So now, I am asking, Is it even cost effective in fixing this? Can something be done? I rather purchase another brand name TV because I am not happy/comfortable with this brand no more. Maybe it's just a fluke but please, I need someone to give me any other option. Thank you so very much.

You lucked out it sounds like. Same thing happened to my Insignia and it was "repaired" under warranty, only to fail again less than a year later. Stick with the name brands and you will be good.
There are plenty of Samsungs and LGs in the service center.

  • Insignia 26" LCD TV/DVD Combo display problem

My Insignia 26" LCD TV/DVD Combo has a display problem when you turn it on it is very bright, changes to verticle stripes after about 10 minutes of "warm up" you begin to see a egraded picture and after a little more warm-up the picture finally comes through clear.  I am past my warrenty period but I would like to fix the TV rather than throw it away.
    1) can someone tell me what the problem is
    2) identify the part that needs replacment and the cost
    3) estimate repair cost if I brought it in to be fixed
    Thank you

Try setting the input to antenna and then scanning. If that doesn't work, you will need to get a tuner box.

  • Insignia LED-LCD HDTV Model: NS-32E570A11

I am Handicapped & Disabled & Must be hooked up to medical experiment for 6-7 hours a day & remain in bed & awake during this time.  I purchased this TV :   Insignia  LED-LCD HDTV Model: NS-32E570A11
    after my 7 month old Dynex™ - 32" Class / 720p / 60Hz D/ LCD HDTV DVD Combo
Model:DX-32LD150A11  refused to hold & recognize in it's memory HD channels. Guess I should have read the posts from other Dynex users, cuz there are a lot of problems with Dynex.
Even one of the Managers at my Best Buy store told me that her Dynex same exact TV did the exact same thing.   I am hoping that once repair is done that I will get a  "RA" number so I can get some of my money back on this insignia TV.
I do not See any difference with the Insigna TV & it is not as clear at home as it was in the store.
I have Time Warner cable with extended basic cable & within the last 6 months TWC had installed much larger cables underground & the cable is not the problem.
I did notice that in the store they only had very few channels.   Do they "Tweak" the channels in the store &/or power them differently to get sharper clearer images??
I am ready to take the LED Insignia TV back next time I am in town as it is 26 miles each way to get to the closest store.
I should be able to buy a TV & not have to worry that it is going to die on me. My old  36"Toshiba with a big tube lasted 16+ years.
Any suggestions on "RELIABLE" LCD 32" TV's that I can afford on just my SS income??

Stores do nothing to "tweak" channels in the store. TVs have many dozens of settings that can be changed by a user at home, and sometiems have presets to switch between certain values that the manufacturer has deemed "optimal" for certain viewing situations. If none of the preset settings offer the picture you desire, you will either need to learn how to change the settings to fit your viewing situation, or pay for a professional calibration.
It took me almost 6 months before I got my TV settings the way that I wanted them to be, using the calibration settings on various Disney DVDs, Star Wars DVDs, and special calibration DVDs, and constantly having a critical eye for everything I watched. After all of that time and effort, my TVs are about as close to profesionally calibrated as I can get them.
Have you had Time Warner out to the house to verify that it's not actually a cable problem? Just because they put "bigger cables" in the ground doesn't mean that the signal to your home is any better. Most cable and satellite companies compress their signal quite a bit on HD, and the quality suffers as a result.

  • Insignia LED LCD 42 Picture Fades

We just bought a 42" Insignia LED-LCD tv and we've noticed that the picture darkens itself and brightens again constantly as we are watching tv. We thought it may be a setting we may have turned on or something, but we cant seem to get it to stop. We've turned the Energy Saver option off and its now to custom. Any suggestions? It's really bugging us that we can't figure this out. We had an LCD (not LED) tv before this one and didnt have this problem.
Any help you can provide would be awesome! thanks!

Actually, there IS a setting to automatically adjust the brightness and contrast in the Advanced Video section of the settings.
From page 17 of the manual:
"Advanced Contrast-When you see the pop-up menu, set Adaptive Contrast to On to adjust picture detail and brightness automatically or to set Dynamic Contrast Ratio to On to automatically adjust the contrast between the light and dark areas of the picture."
Check and see if Adaptive Contrast or Dynamic Contrast Ratio are turned on in the Advanced Video-> Advanced Contrast section of the menu. If they're on, turn them off, and see if the problem goes away.

  • Insignia 22" LCD TV Flashes

I have noticed twice now that when my Insignia LCD TV is turned off it has done a sudden "flash" as if the monitor is going to go on.  This happens on its own.   I recently had Direct TV set-up and did not know if this is related to the situation.
What is causing this "flash".  This is not normal as I have an 32" LCD with Direct TV as well and it has not happend.
    Thank you.

  • Insignia 32" LCD

I've tried to call the store 2 times and can't get anyone to answer the geeksquad line and was on hold forever trying to get a sales associate.
I have a new 32" LCD Insignia TV that was given to me for Christmas just this past December 2010 by my parents. For a while now, it's been doing very weird things and last night was the final straw.
While watching a channel, it will go black and start skipping like a stuck CD and then the TV just turns off all by itself. You then have to wait a few minutes to even turn it back on with the remote. Sometimes it will just get stuck and I  have had to unplug it from the wall then plug it back in and wait for it to be ready to turn back on again. This has happened not only with remote but also with the buttons on the TV itself.
Lastnight, it got so bad to where every time I tried to turn it back on, it would go straight to skipping again and turn right back off. then when I got it to turn on and I would change the channel, the channel display would still be on channel 12 while I was changing it and watching say channel 7. I had to let it sit and wait for a while. Finally I just went to bed and watched my older TV instead.
My parents said I have a 2 year warranty and i need some action immediately. I am not one that jumps on the new tech bandwagon and had been still watching an OLD FLOOR MODEL that I grew up with and was excited that my parents upgraded me with a new tv for Christmas.
I would appreciate a response. I have already googled this brand and have seen TONS of negative information on this brand so I'm not really happy or excited about the future of this TV.

  • Please Help Me! Purchased Insignia 32' 720p tv

I purchased an Insignia 720 LCD HDTV yesterday and I hooked the cable up and the picture is small..\\. The display at the store had a full picure and mine is small..I did find a way to change it in advanced settings but the picture quality is horrible...what am I doing wrong and should I return the tv and get a better one???

    Hey Organic Babe,
That's how it is.  For a 32" 820 pixies shoulda be ok.  The smaller picture frames are because we have been running 72mm film for awhile and everything is based around this longer horizontal, but shorter vertical home entertainment.  Thanks Mr. Warner...err Fox...err Ted Turner?  You can watch it justified and not have too much distortion.  Keep in mind that zoom will distort the image leading to pixel downgrade.  Remeber, to always pay a little more for resolution 1020, etc.  But on 42" and under, the 820 is pretty darn good.  I prefer plasma myself.
Signal distortion, and noise are bombarded constantly into your set.  Generally, it is through your hardware (wiring/connectors) leading to your TV.  For instance:  You have FIOS and it ain't exactly fiber optic anymore when it hits the cable (maybe because of Southwire, Beldin, GC, etc. using sorrier copper because the China Empire is absorbing 70% of the world supply and they are alloying (diluting) beyond belief.
If you near DFW area, I'll show you all the deal and you can whoop-up some good organic grub or Tappas (if'n you ain't in the area, go talk to the GEEKs @ BB...they know things and are very articulate).  Does that mean no BBQ!!??

  • Digital QAM Tuner

Can someone please tell me if this TV has an internal  digital QAM tuner:   Insignia 26" LCD TV NS-L26Q-10A.  The specifications say Clear-QAM but I am not sure what that means.  Thanks, Dennis

Clear-QAM means it has a digital QAM tuner.
Nearly all (if not all) US cable systems use QAM modulation.  However, much of the content is encrypted, hence the designation "Clear QAM" - Clear QAM tuners can only receive unencrypted content.  (Usually re-feeds of the OTA broadcast networks - NBC, CBS, ABC, Fox, CW, et al.)
Receiving encrypted content requires a cable box or a CableCard enabled TV.  Go with the box, CableCard is an epic failure.  (The cable industry abused every loophole they could in the FCC regulations that CableCard was designed to meet, resulting in a solution that met the letter of the law but not the spirit of it.)

  • Insignia LCD 32 inch TV sound (works, but really fuzzy/lame)

just yesterday i purchased the 32 inch dvd/TV LCD. Set up was easy, but wow, the sound is awful especially on non HD channels..it was really bad when I went to watch a show in the Comcast OnDemand section.
It's sort of a fuzzy/static-y sound. Anyone have this problem? i know it's not a top of the line unit, but c'mon...I have HD coaxial cable into cable box from the wall obviously, and HDMI cable running from box to TV.
Thanks for any suggestions. I was thinking about returning the TV.

I don't have any problems with the sound on my 32" Insignia or my 22" except my 22 is very low but sounds great.  Try hooking up an audio rca jack or a different HDMI cable incase the one you have it defective.  If that doesn't work then yes I would return the TV as it sound defective.  The stores usually have the TV's on for you I would check the sound of one of them sitting on the shelf.
Also check the reviews on the specific model number that you purchased.

  • Insignia LCD HDTV region problem

I just bought a 32" Insignia LCD TV at a Best Buy store in my trip to Orlando, Florida. I tested it at the hotel, and it was ok. The problem is that I came back to Brazil and now it is black and white only. Searching in the internet I realized that TVs has to be multi-region to work in every country of the world, and I had no info like that from the salesperson at Best Buy.
Does anybody knows what should I do, since I am not coming back to the US and I suppose Insignia has no technical assistance in Brazil?
    Thanks in advance.
Message Edited by llvasco on 01-16-2009 11:03 PM

    Hey Ilvasco,
Chances are that the reason why TV signals are not being displayed properly is because the United States and Brazil use two different TV broadcast standards (NTSC vs. PAL). Insignia TV’s sold within the United States only recognize the NTSC format, but you may be able to resolve that problem by using a PAL-to-NTSC set-top converter box. I personally cannot attest to how well these converter boxes function, so I’d strongly recommend reading as many reviews as possible before purchasing one!
    Hope this helps you out!
