Insignia 55inch led LCD no digital inputs.

I have an Insignia 55inch led LCD that was damaged by lightning.  Now I only have coax and RCA inputs.  All the HDMI inputs are inoperable.  Is this worth fixing?  It is out of warranty and my insurance deductible is higher than the replacement cost.  Is there a Insignia repair center in Dallas Texas I can get an estimate from?

While the discussion of what is and isn't covered is  moot since the OP said it's outside of warranty (assuming this means he owned it past the warranty period), I did want to point this out to bubberuchi under exclusions:
Damage to your product caused by accident (unless you have purchased the optional ADH or Advanced Coverage and it’s a covered event), abuse, neglect, intentional physical damage, misuse (including faulty installation, repair, or maintenance by anyone other than an authorized service provider), unauthorized modification, viruses and/or spyware (unless you have the Vi-Spy Coverage), performance failures due to not maintaining firmware updates, extreme environment (including extreme temperature or humidity), external condensation, mold, immersion/submersion in liquid (e.g. pool, bathtub, etc.), lightning, fire, flood, insect infestation, rodents, war, terrorism, computer software related failures, Acts of God or other external causes.
If you take the contract as a whole, it sounds like power surges are covered, as long as they are not due to lightning. This didn't make sense to me until I learned that lightning is one of the less common causes of power surges. I always thought lightning was a major cause. TIL...

  • Insignia 39" 1080p LED LCD HDTV

I bought an Insignia 39" LED LCD HDTV on line last month & I love it. It comes in crystal clear & it was cheap for a almost 40" HDTV. It was, at the time, $259.99 on line last month. With shipping, handling & taxes it came to $330.00 about. Very cheap compared to more expensive name brands. I like it & it was a good deal. Thanx again Best Buy. You guys are great when it comes to electronics, appliances, PC's, & HDTV's...

  • X120e HDMI - 27" LED LCD @ 1920x1080 - how does the image look?

    Hi All,
Since that my X120e is not compatible w/ my Dell 30" DVI-D dual link display, I'm about to invest in a 27" LED LCD w/ HDMI input.  If you're using the X120e on a 27" @ 1920x1080 via HDMI too, may I ask how does the image look to you?
Can people even tell that all that images/video come from a lil' laptop?
I asked cos' as we all agree that X120e's built-in display is a lil' on the weak side, I wonder if this carries onto an external display too or not.  Speaking of which, ever since I downloaded all latest drivers (as late as last night), my X120e's picture quality is now noticeably better, have you guys noticed this too?  And I haven't even used Microsoft's picture calibration software yet cos' last time I used it, all grey areas looked pinkish.
    Thanks.

Yeah, as ColonelONeill said, the picture qualities are independent.
Most likely, if you encounter any picture quality issue on the external, it's going to be due to picture options on that monitor itself (color temperature, brightness, contrast, sharpness, etc. etc.) that can be adjusted independent of any setting that the computer has.  Any calibration tool software on the PC only adjusts how the data is sent out to the monitor in question.  Hardware + Software calibration tools are considerably more reliable because they can take into account the settings on the monitor itself.  Sadly one can't adjust the laptop's screen's settings itself.
If you're going to use the HDMI connection, don't forget to go into your Catalyst Control Center and adjust the overscan / underscan setting to get the image to fill up your monitor's screen.  AMD sets the overscan / underscan option to default with a slight border around the desktop.  This in turn can cause a sort of blurriness because the pixels on the monitor is not 1:1 to the pixels that the laptop is outputting (1920 x 1080 resolution being fit into a 1820 x 980 resolution with a 50 pixel black border, for example).
P.S. the Overscan / Underscan option only shows up in CCC if you have the device connected through HDMI.

  • Insignia LED-LCD HDTV Model: NS-32E570A11

I am Handicapped & Disabled & Must be hooked up to medical experiment for 6-7 hours a day & remain in bed & awake during this time.  I purchased this TV :   Insignia  LED-LCD HDTV Model: NS-32E570A11
    after my 7 month old Dynex™ - 32" Class / 720p / 60Hz D/ LCD HDTV DVD Combo
Model:DX-32LD150A11  refused to hold & recognize in it's memory HD channels. Guess I should have read the posts from other Dynex users, cuz there are a lot of problems with Dynex.
Even one of the Managers at my Best Buy store told me that her Dynex same exact TV did the exact same thing.   I am hoping that once repair is done that I will get a  "RA" number so I can get some of my money back on this insignia TV.
I do not See any difference with the Insigna TV & it is not as clear at home as it was in the store.
I have Time Warner cable with extended basic cable & within the last 6 months TWC had installed much larger cables underground & the cable is not the problem.
I did notice that in the store they only had very few channels.   Do they "Tweak" the channels in the store &/or power them differently to get sharper clearer images??
I am ready to take the LED Insignia TV back next time I am in town as it is 26 miles each way to get to the closest store.
I should be able to buy a TV & not have to worry that it is going to die on me. My old  36"Toshiba with a big tube lasted 16+ years.
Any suggestions on "RELIABLE" LCD 32" TV's that I can afford on just my SS income??

Stores do nothing to "tweak" channels in the store. TVs have many dozens of settings that can be changed by a user at home, and sometiems have presets to switch between certain values that the manufacturer has deemed "optimal" for certain viewing situations. If none of the preset settings offer the picture you desire, you will either need to learn how to change the settings to fit your viewing situation, or pay for a professional calibration.
It took me almost 6 months before I got my TV settings the way that I wanted them to be, using the calibration settings on various Disney DVDs, Star Wars DVDs, and special calibration DVDs, and constantly having a critical eye for everything I watched. After all of that time and effort, my TVs are about as close to profesionally calibrated as I can get them.
Have you had Time Warner out to the house to verify that it's not actually a cable problem? Just because they put "bigger cables" in the ground doesn't mean that the signal to your home is any better. Most cable and satellite companies compress their signal quite a bit on HD, and the quality suffers as a result.

  • Insignia LED LCD 42 Picture Fades

We just bought a 42" Insignia LED-LCD tv and we've noticed that the picture darkens itself and brightens again constantly as we are watching tv. We thought it may be a setting we may have turned on or something, but we cant seem to get it to stop. We've turned the Energy Saver option off and its now to custom. Any suggestions? It's really bugging us that we can't figure this out. We had an LCD (not LED) tv before this one and didnt have this problem.
Any help you can provide would be awesome! thanks!

Actually, there IS a setting to automatically adjust the brightness and contrast in the Advanced Video section of the settings.
From page 17 of the manual:
"Advanced Contrast-When you see the pop-up menu, set Adaptive Contrast to On to adjust picture detail and brightness automatically or to set Dynamic Contrast Ratio to On to automatically adjust the contrast between the light and dark areas of the picture."
Check and see if Adaptive Contrast or Dynamic Contrast Ratio are turned on in the Advanced Video-> Advanced Contrast section of the menu. If they're on, turn them off, and see if the problem goes away.

  • Usb 6009 digital input

    Dear All!!
With the following vi. I'm trying to receive a 5V signal in a digital input, using a usb-6009 device.
I would like to use the 5 VCC supply, available in pin 31 of the same device and send it to pin 17, representing line0 of port0. During execution, 'm physically connecting and disconnecting  these pins in order to see the difference in a led indicator. Unfortunatelly, the led is always on, even if both pins are disconnected.
Could somebody help me? I would be very pleased.
Thank you very much in advance,

    Hi Miren,
"the led is always on, even if both pins are disconnected"
    RTFM?!
They use open collector inputs with an internal pullup resistor of 4.7k, so you actively have to pull down the input to GND to see a difference...

  • Digital Input VI boolean indicator

I am using the Example VI Digital Input as part of Fieldpoint.
It works fine on its own.
That is, I can place a voltage across the terminals of the DI module and the respective Boolean LED lights up on the front panel.
I'd like to use the VI as a subVI for another program.
I wired the connectors of Digital Input.VI connector pane such that the Fieldpoint IO Input and Boolean indicator array have connectors.
I placed the Digital Input.VI in the block diagram of another VI and created an indicator on that VI to see the status of the array within the Digital Input.VI.
Running the higher level VI and the boolean array on it is disabled (greyed out) but the boolean array on the Digital Input.VI is working properly.
    Any ideas?
I'm just looking for a way to obtain a status bit type response to be used elsewhere.
If one of the DI module channels is set high then the bit would be set (LED on) in my higher level VI.

Alright, found that if I just take out the guts (Fieldpoint IO, FP Read, Type, Boolean indicator) and use that in my VI all works well.
Now all I need to do is determine what bits are set and act on set bits.

  • Can I replace my LCD with a NON-LED LCD??

I have a late 2007 Macbook Pro with the 15in LED LCD. A few months after warranty goes, my screen starts dying on me. It's not the graphics card problem, just a screen problem. Genius bar says it will be about $800 to repair. So I go on ebay and look up screens. My question is, does it HAVE to be an LED screen or can it be a regular LCD? This listing* claims this screen is for the A1226 MBP which is what my MBP is, but the listing says its a "ccfl bulb" LCD and doesn't mention anything about LED. Would this work or not? Thanks guys/girls!
    *Link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=1803 51992234

Typically not because the power input to the LED (usually 5 volt) is different than that for a florescent lamp which requires a ballast circuit to work. Also the cable connection design will usually get redesigned between the 2 types and the lighting is part of the LCD screen.

  • Insignia 32 LED TV and Sony STR-DH720 HDMI ARC question

I have my new Insignia 32 LED TV connected via HDMI to my new Sony STR-DH720 Home Theater AMP.  When I turn on the TV it properly turns on the AM and initially sets AMP to TV input but then a few seconds later it swtiches to VIDEO 2 and then I get no sound.  If I manually set the AMP back to the TV input I get good video and sound.  I want it to stop switching to VIDEO 2 (where nothing is connected) and just stay on TV.  Any ideas on why it is switching and how I can make it just stay on TV.  The HDMI cable is connected to the correct port on the TV and the AMP.

yeah of the input from the imac to the tv will just be one of the input hdmi sources you have on your list in the sony menu

  • Polling digital inputs

I am trying to simulate an annunciator panel on a WIN_XP PC with LV7 and DAQMx hardware. This is part of a much larger machine control code.
The number of digital input channels is 17.
For those who wonder what an annunciator is :
When an input becomes active I have to switch on a LED indicator on the PC screen and switch on an alarm. When the user presses the ACK push button, the alarm is silenced, but the LED remains lit till the relevant input becomes inactive.
The response time for (reading) each input must be about 20ms.
Question is, what would be the best possible way to code this without loading the CPU heavily ?
I am not listing the possible options, lest the replies should end up discussing the pros and cons of my suggestions. In other words, I simply do not want to bias the replies...

I am not familiar with DAQmx but here is a vi that shows the basic principle behind gathering data in one loop and processing it in another.  The data gathering loop puts the data in a queue.  The processing loop reads the queue and acts on the data.  I have also added an alarm LED and an ACK button to show you how that could work.  You will have to figure how to get data from your DI and put it into the queue.  If you get an array of data at a time, create a loop to index the array and stuff each element into the queue.  This loop would go into your data gathering loop.  The best thing to do is to program the DAQ to get one value at a time.  If you are using a DI and your data is boolean, change the queue element from a DBL to a boolean at the beginning of the vi at the Obtain Queue function.  You would also have to change the alarm condition code.

  • Connecting my Mac Mini DVI video output to Dell W3706MC LCD TV VGA Input

I tried connecting my mac mini to the Dell W3706MC LCD TV VGA input but it wanted me to change the resolution of the mac to 1360 x 768 at 60 Hz. I did that but it still would not display the video. I tried my PC laptop and that worked fine with different resolutions. So I know that there is nothing wrong with the TV. Did anyone experience this same problem?
    Any help would be great.
    Thanks,
    Karl

I'm confused about your comment "it wanted me to change the resolution of the mac to 1360 x 768 at 60 Hz." I presume the way this was communicated was through a dialog box, correct? But if you could see a dialog box, that means you had a working screen at one point, correct? Why don't you just run at that resolution?

  • How to acquire serial data on a digital input line with good performance?

    Hello,
we have a performance problem with our realtime controller. Our objective is, to read a 24-bit long digital waveform from a digital input line. To do this, we supply a clock signal (236 KHz)  to the PFI1 Line of our DAQ Board. On each rising edge of the clock, a new bit is set on the digital input DI0.
Our hardware which transmits the data, is triggered through a digital output from our realtime controller. On each edge on this output, the hardware starts a serial transmission of 24-Bits.
Everything works fine except the bad performance of our realtime controller. We want to acquire the 24-Bits in a 1ms timed loop. To measure performance we wrote a test program. In that, we only triggered the hardware and transfered the data to the realtime controller. The task which is doing this job, has a approx. CPU-Load of 30%, which is, in my humble opinion, very high. The task is not waiting for data or anything else! We have earlier implemented a control which is also using a 1ms timed loop. This control is sampling 2 analog input signals, 2 counters. Futhermore it's sending telegrams with CAN and doing many calculations. The strange thing is, this much huger program has a CPU-Load of 25%. Does anybody know where the problem is?
For the better understandig I attached our test-program to this text.
    We're using:
    PXI-8175 realtime controler
    PXI-6221 Multifunction DAQ
    Thanks!

    Hello,
First of all 30% CPU-Load is normal because the DAQmx-driver needs a lot of resources.
In your programm you should place a wait (for example with 1ms) into the while-loop which causes
    lower CPU-Load.
If this is not enough you should build your vi like in the following example.

    hello,
how can i connect 24VDC to digital input (usb 6008), is it possible with some optocoupler?

The 6008 is a static DIO, so speed shouldn't be an issue.  Therefore an optocoupler should work.  Just make sure you get one the meets your specs.

  • Audigy 4 Pro digital input 16 - 24

I have a Sony MDS-JB920 minidisc deck hooked up to my Audigy 4 Pro through the external box. Works fine.
However, the Minidisc deck allows one to set both the digital input and output to either 6, 20 or 24 bit. As the Audigy 4 Pro is 24 bit, I've set the deck to 24 bit for both in and out. So far no problems. If I watch the settings panel whilst playing a minidisc however, it indicates that the signal coming from the MD deck is 6 bit, although the deck is set to supply 24 bit through the SPDIF out.
When I put the MD deck on rec mode whilst the PC is supplying audio feed, the MD deck loops it back to the SPDIF input of the Audigy and then the software does display 24 bit signal coming from the MD deck.
This is very confusing to me, does anyone have an explanation?

CMSS is an effect used for stereo sounds, to emulate surround sound for them. It has no effect on the DVDs you're playing as you're just outputting the AC3 signal so the speakers can decode it.
If you're using a digital connection, then CMSS will not have any effect for other sound either, you need to connect through multiple analog connections to get that sound. A standard digital connection (coaxial and optical SPDIF) can only pass over either a stereo PCM signal, or an encoded AC3 stream (like on your DVDs). Normal sound like music or games will only be passed over as stereo PCM, so there is no CMSS effect there.
If you can connect your amplifier through several analog connections, then you can use CMSS aswell, otherwise your amplifier might have it's own upmix option like ProLogic.
