Insignia Blu Ray with Yamaha Reciever

I have and Insignia blu-ray player NS-WBRDVD and a Yamaha HTR-6030 receiver.  The receiver doesn't have a HDMI input but it does have two optical and one coaxial input along with a bunch of others.
I connected the bluray optical out into the Yamaha DTV/CBL optical in.  I do get a PCM indicator symbol on the reciever but I only get sound out of the front left and right speakers, also on the speaker indicators only those two ight up.
I ran the basic set up test and I get sound out of all of the speakers one at a time as the receiver runs the test.
I also notice that I don't get the DTS symbol to light up.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Eddie

What output setting is the receiver set for i.e. Dolby Prologic, Stereo, 6.1/7.1 Channel?  I would need to know what each setting is on the DVD player for audio out and the receiver.

  • Connecting Insignia Blue Ray Player to Home Wireless Network

OK, I am having problems connecting my Insignia Blue Ray Player to my home wireless network. Under network settings I was able to connect to the network, but it can't seem to acquire an IP address. All the other devices connected to the network are working. I'm not very proficient at this obviously, but does anyone have any thoughts?

If there is a configuration option on the BD player, set it to auto.

Perhaps try the "Error -50," "-5000," "8003," "8008," or "-42023" section in the Specific Conditions and Alert Messages: (Mac OS X / Windows) section of the following document:

  • Cs 6 blu-ray with sub menus, only go back to main menu

I have burned a blu-ray with a main menu then sub menus: audio setup, chapters, extras.
(note: they are regular menus NOT pop-up menus and I would rather not do pop-up menus at this time)
when I am playing any of the sub menu content (trailer or making of or picking a chapter button from the chapter menu etc...) and press the menu button on the Blu-Ray player while it plays that content, it goes to the main menu instead of the sub menu.
I checked it in the simulator and it was working perfectly....just as I would expect it to.
each sub menu item (a trailer or making of featurette for example) is set to go back to the sub menu and it's button
    when done playing...and it does.
It just refuses to do that when the menu button on a blu-ray player is used and instead goes to the main menu.
I ran the link checker before building the folders and burning it...no conflicts found.
This seems to be an issue with Encore in general, reading about this here and in
    other forums.
Can Encore simply not create a proper blu-ray disc with sub-menu's you can
return to when the menu button on a remote is pressed?
Do I have to buy BluStreak in order to correct these rather obvious navigation errors?

Let us know what you find.
I think the original poster in the other thread observed that commercial BDs were showing the same behavior.
Even if true, it does not mean that some kind of scripting might not work.
But Encore would not have the option.

  • Best export format for encoding & burning Blu-ray with toast?

    Hi!
Have a 1 hour and fifteen minutes program which I burn to Blu-Ray with Toast 10/HD. The problem is the time it takes, about 25 hours. Is this resonable really?
    Maybe it´s depending on the format I put out from Final Cut - H.264, 1920 x 1080 (1888 x 1062)Stereo (L R), 48,000 kHz
Does anyone know if there is a better export setting in Final Cut to get the process work faster in Toast?
    Best / Urban

I've never used toast to burn a BluRay however I have used encore and I export 10 bit uncompressed out of FCP and compress that. If your over an hour of program you'll have to scale back the data rate to make it fit, a 90 minute feature looks good content wise, but any text on it will show signs of the reduced data rate. the encode typically takes about 8 hours to build the disk image on an 8 core mac then about 45 minutes to burn from the image. I burn first to a rewritable in case of issues, then if it passes muster I'll burn the master

No, it will be a one use only code. Copy the file onto a memory stick and import it into your library at home later.

  • FCS3- working blue-ray with surround sound ?

Hi, I'm trying to solve the problem with surround and Blue-ray.
*Could anyone confirm that FCS3 can output working Blue-Ray with 5.1 Surround Sound, please?*
The surround sound is really important for me, I am able to make Blue-ray now via Toast, but it converts the surround to stero). As soon someone confirms it works, I'm going to upgrade... Thanks!

The only things I noted when I made my first own test, was that even though my FCP7 timeline was set properly to output the 6 channels, when I went to compressor 3.5 to produce both the H264 and the AC3 (with 6 channels), after the Blu ray disk was burnt, the audio was not playing correctly.
I fixed the problem by going from FCP7 to Compressor using the new function called "send to compressor", instead of using a self contained QT movie (which is my usual workflow).
In this specific case I found that it solved my problem and my second attempt to produce the Blu ray disk was ok, the audio played as expected on my Dolby receiver.

    Armando.

  • Insignia blu-ray player NS-BRDVD3 sound issues

I'm having issues with sound levels when using the Insignia player.  Sometimes the sound fades and I can turn the volume all the way up on my tv and still not be able to hear it real well.  This is sporadic but only happens when I am using the blu-ray player,  both watching a dvd or watching netflix.
Has anyone else had this problem?   I have it hooked to a Vizio LCD with HDMI cable.

I have experienced the same problem with Netflix streaming. It looks like the current "fix" for this problem is to connect with component cables and not a HDMI cable. A firmware solution is aparently in the offing from information I've gleaned from the Inginia forums. Not entirely satisfying, but it has worked so far for me.

  • Slow Burning Movies to Blu-Ray with PE8

For several months, I've been converting a collection of old B & W movies from VHS tape to DVD using PE8. I've been burning to DVD-R and DVD+R DL and the process has gone quite well. To try to increase the number of movies/disc I recently installed an LG WH10LS30 Blu-ray burner in my Dell XPS420. This drive burns 3 AVI movie files(55.7 GB total) plus menus to a DVD+R DL 8X disc in 98 minutes which I find quite acceptable although I have no benchmark by which to judge. Burning a Blu-ray disc has turned out to be a totally different story. I have successfully burned 5 movie files(98.4 GB total) plus menus to a BD-RE 2X disc twice, using the same procedure as with DVD's, and it took about 16 hours each time - far longer than I ever would have expected!
The LG drive doesn't appear to be the culprit as I think the actual burning portion of the process took under an hour. It's the encoding/compiling time that's the killer. Lack of experience leaves me in a quandary as to whether my workflow needs overhauling for Blu-ray or my time expectations are too high(low). Hence I'd really appreciate some advice!
My workflow has been as follows:
    (1) Import each movie from VCR through my Sony DV camcorder to PE8 as AVI file, perform basic editing & resave file in AVI form;
    (2) Run Disk Cleanup, defrag HDD's, shut down other programs, non-essential processes & services, disable Internet & security software and set PE8 priority to High before proceeding;
    (3) Assemble multiple AVI files in PE8 timeline, add menu markers, create menus and burn disc using NTSC DolbyDVD preset for DVD & MPEG2 1440 x 1080i NTSCDolby(for testing) for Blu-ray.
My XPS420 has an Intel duo core E8500 processor @ 3.16 GHz, 4GB RAM, a NVIDIA GeForce GTS 240 video card with latest driver, and two 7200 RPM hard drives, each with its own page file. The 320 GB C drive holds the Vista Home Premium OS and programs. It is 53% full. The 640 GB D drive is dedicated to the video files and is 38% full.

If you're using Premiere Elements to burn our videos to BluRay, Donald, you're making a big mistake.
You've got standard definition movies but you're outputting a hi-def video format (BluRay) so you're essentially telling the program to triple the number of pixels. This won't make your movie look hi-def. It just adds pixels to your standard def (720x480) AVI, which will only results in a fuzzy, blown-out video. This is also why the process is taking so long.
So you're essentially taking two to three times as long to create a fuzzier movie. Which is not a good workflow.
I think I know what you're trying to do. It sounds like you're trying to take advantage of the fact that a BluRay holds over 5 times as much data as a DVD. But that only means you can fit 5 times as many movies on a disc if your video is DVD video. In Premiere Elements, the only option for outputting to a BluRay is a hi-def BluRay file.
Even if you use a third-party program to create the kind of hybrid you're trying to create, it probably won't do you much good. Most disc players wouldn't know what to do with DVD files on a BluRay disc -- so you'd probably only be able to play your disc on a computer.
I recommend keeping it simple. Put DVD video on a DVD and put BluRay video on a BluRay.

  • Trouble burning to Blu-Ray with PE 7.0

I have tried for the last few months to burn a 2 hour video to Blu-Ray.  I ahve burned shorter videos to a rewritable blu-ray disc with success but this video is just barely over the max (24/sec) quality.  Even when I shorten it to the hgih quality length it still freezes up and crashes.  I have made each chapter a saved file, so there are only 40 files and two items on the menu (move & slideshow).  I have tried all the trouble shooting and even called adobe support.  After a couple of hours they suggested I increase my virtual memory to 8000/10000  I have a quad-core processor and 4 gigs of RAM running XP pro.  I just want to burn to blu-ray and DVD and cannot.  Is their a trick that I don't know or is this product just worthless when it comes to burning.  I tried changing the names of my files from m2t to mpeg and that didn't work either.  I am soooo frustrated...
I'm willing to try just about anything.  Has their been any more luck with the new 8.0 version--it sure came out quick since 7.0

My original format is AVCHD.  Since I had so many cuts/edits/transitions I saved wach chapter as a high def file (I think H.264 1920x1080i) It saved it as a xxx.m2t file.  I then used those 40 files in one 2 hours movie.  That is where I am having trouble.  I have pretty much doen every trouble-shooting thing that they list and the closest thing I get to is a 16 hour-encoding process that fails at 98%.  I have even sucessfully saved the entire 2 hour movie as one huge file, but I still can't get it to burn.  Like I said I have been able to burn shorter movies successfully, but there is something wrong or different with this one.  I have tried several different things to change it (probably 20-30 times) and it either crashes while encoding the 2nd of 6 menus or it "unexpectedly quit"  I am so frustrated with this.  I had great success with version 2.0 & 4.0    The only thing I haven't tried is burning my 7.0 project in 4.0 (I uninstalled it after 7.0)  I think 4.0 burns to blu-ray but it won't edit avchd like 7.0   I am currently successfully burning (Fingers crosses) in 8.0 trial version and will be really upset with adobe if they simply fixed their product and I have to shell out another $100 because they didn't get it right when they first released it.  Has anyone else had this many problems buring long projects. Like I said I reduced the size of the project down to full qulity (24.00/sec) and that still doesn't work.  I'll try anything.

  • Creating 1080p Blu-Ray with Final Cut Pro 10.0.7?

The latest version of Final Cut Pro (Vers 10.0.7) seems to share to Blu-Ray disk only at 720p resolution (1280X720) - not 1080P (1920X1200).  I know you can always use Compressor to create a 1080p Blu-Ray, but is there any way to create a 1080p Blu-Ray disk directly with Final Cut Pro?  It seems to me I was able to do this with earlier versions of Final Cut Pro X.

If you do a 1080 project @24fps or 29.97fps, FCPX will output 1080 frame size using the Blu-Ray settings. If you use Share >BD for either 720 or 1080 @ 60fps, it will choose the 720 resolution.
I have no idea whether this was always the case.

  • Compressor - export to Blu-ray with more than 6 chapter Markers?

    Hi,
I'm interested in creating Blu-Ray discs.  I've played around taking a self contained 30 minute movie I created with FCPro 7 - it has several chapter markers put in while editing in  FCPro.
I took the SC movie and brought it into Compressor and burned directly to a DVD with the Chapter markers.  It worked perfectly.
2 questions, if anyone has done this . . . if I buy a Blu-Ray burner and firewire it into my MacBook Pro - can I burn the Blu-Ray exactly like I did the conventional DVD?  Except now it'll be High Definition?  I'm guessing in COmpressor, when I 'selected' the internal DVD burner - I guess I'll see the new external Blu-Ray one after I firewire it into the MacBook Pro?
My question is, will it then burn to the Blu-Ray exactly like it did to the internal conventional DVD burner, except be in HD now?
I just don't want to buy a Blu-Ray burner and have something nt work?  Thanks, if anyone can confirm this.
I also have Roxio Toast Titanium 11.  But keeping it all in Compressor seems easier - with limited screens.
Oh, I only get 6 chapter markers on a screen thru Compressor.  Any tricks as to how I can get more than 6?  I have like 30, and I'd rather not go thru 5 screens getting to the end!
Thanks very much if anyone has any experience in this area.
    Larry

Thank you, Shawn.  You're confirming everything I thought!
Just asking . . . perhaps you have a few thoughts here:
    - Is Compressor version 4 any "different" than 3.5 - as far as just dropping in a QT movie master to compress?
    - I guess there's no way to get more than 6 Chapter Markers in Compressor DVD?  I don't see a way, perhaps there is? Or . . . I have to learn toast!  But I can do that!  Just easier if Compressor would do it all!
    Thanks again

  • I have internet service on iMac but cannot get connection for Blu ray with airport express.

Why am I not getting internet connection for blu ray on tv with airport express?

Did the Blu Ray player connect wirelessly to the Express before or has it never been able to connect to it at all?

  • Create a Blu-Ray with Chapters

I have created a project in FCPX. I want to add Chapter Markers, Create a Chapter Menu, Burn to Blu-Ray, and finally be able to play the Blu-ray on my Blu-Ray player and be able to “jump” from Chapter to Chapter while watching the Blu-ray. As I understand it, FCPX DOES not allow you to create Chapter Markers and you need to use Compressor. Can somebody provide me with a Step by step procedure for accomplishing what I want to do? Is there a Tutorial or something that explains this process? Can it even be accomplished? Is there some other product that is better and easier to use then Compressor? In reading the Compresoor Manual I came across Job Actions which appeared to accomplish everything I was looking for, but I was not 100% certain. Thanks in advance for any help someone may be able to provide.

    Barry,
Here is one way. (There are others, but in the interest of conserving space…)
Export your movie using export media.
Open Compressor and select the Create Blu Ray Disk from the Batch Template window. (You'll get an audio and a video target.)
Drag your exported movie to the source well.
    Open the Preview window.
Use the timeline playhead to scrub through your movie and identify where you want to set your chapter markers. Hit M to set a marker.
To the right of the TL scroll bar, there is a (tiny) button. Open it and it will allow you to edit the marker.
Click on Edit and then you can name your marker.
    Repeat as necessary.
When you open the job actions tab, it should give your blu ray burner as an option.
    Good luck.
    Russ
