Insignia NS-27LCD no picture

I recently was given an Insignia 27 inch LCD TV.  I was told that the power supply was bad when it was given to me but upon further investigation i don't think it is.  I have never seen a picture but when i plug it in the INSIGNIA logo turns red and when i press power it turns blue.  I would assume that it turns blue when it is on.  Also, if anybody can tell me what happens when nothing is plugged into it, like no input from cable box, video game, etc.I would assume there would be a message like no input or something.  Or at least let me access the menu.
I have no warranty so please dont tell me about taking it to best buy or something.  They wont help at store unless i buy new tv.  Which is lame because best buy is the only place that sells these, so obviously i got it from a best buy (well i didn't but the original owner did)
Anyway.. if anybody can tell me if this is a common problem.  I have been told to replace two caps on the power supply board with ones with higher voltages.  I would think that if the caps were bad then the blue leds wouldn't turn on when i hit power.  thanks for any help that can be offered

I too have a NS-27LCD. Last evening my wife heard a pop and the picture went away. The unit exhibits the same symptoms that you describe. Upon disassembling the unit I have found on the power supply board, FU502 burned. I believe that FU502 is a fusible link of some kind. None of the other components on the Power Supply card appear damaged. FU502 can be found on the Power Supply board between C542 and Two caps, one of which is C539. I have also noticed that it appears that FU503 was never installed.

  • INSIGNIA 50" 1080p plasma picture problems

I purchased a INSIGNIA 50" 1080p plasma HDTV (NS-PDP50HD-09) last year, and it's plagued with this picture problem.  What happens is the picture will split in half down the vertical middle, and the left half will bounce up and down one way, and the right half the opposite way.  It's starting to get worse and worse.  So i called support over a month ago (and it fell and still falls for a week under the 1 year manufacturer's warranty) and best buy sent a 3rd party company to look at it.  Unfortunately they only work during weekdays, and close at around 5, so i had to take days off to have my tv serviced.  I finally got it back, however it's been a week and the problem has resurfaced.  I just called in again, and they said they will resend the company to look at it again.  However, I am becoming frustrated with the situation, because the warranty end date is nearing, and although i was assured that there is a 90 day guaranty on it, i've paid for something is essentially broken.  When it worked properly, i was very satisfied with the TV.  Am i going to be stuck with a 75lb paper weight?  I don't believe this model is manufactured anymore.  Are there any options for me?

I've got the same exact problem with mine. It only does it when it's in one of the zoom modes. I had a tech check it out and he had fixed the problem but 3 months later the problem started up again.  Now I'm just waiting to hear back from BB on if they're going to fix it or replace it.

  • Insignia LED LCD 42 Picture Fades

We just bought a 42" Insignia LED-LCD tv and we've noticed that the picture darkens itself and brightens again constantly as we are watching tv. We thought it may be a setting we may have turned on or something, but we cant seem to get it to stop. We've turned the Energy Saver option off and its now to custom. Any suggestions? It's really bugging us that we can't figure this out. We had an LCD (not LED) tv before this one and didnt have this problem.
Any help you can provide would be awesome! thanks!

Actually, there IS a setting to automatically adjust the brightness and contrast in the Advanced Video section of the settings.
From page 17 of the manual:
"Advanced Contrast-When you see the pop-up menu, set Adaptive Contrast to On to adjust picture detail and brightness automatically or to set Dynamic Contrast Ratio to On to automatically adjust the contrast between the light and dark areas of the picture."
Check and see if Adaptive Contrast or Dynamic Contrast Ratio are turned on in the Advanced Video-> Advanced Contrast section of the menu. If they're on, turn them off, and see if the problem goes away.

  • Insignia LCD NS-LCD32 Picture Prb

I've developed a vertical line in the exact center of the screen with the color on the left side ok but greenish hues on the right side.  The unit is 18 months old.  Is this an adjustment I can do?  How?
    Thanks

  • Custom Picture Settings for Insignia 42" NS-L42Q-10A

Does anyone wish to share their custom picture settings (contrast, brightness etc.) for the Insignia 42" NS-L42Q-10A? The vivid default is to bright, so I have been trying to come up with a custom setting and would like to hear what has worked for other owners.
    Thanks.

Well, it turns out that I neglected to include a critical piece of info in my post.  This behavior was occuring when using my Harmony 550 remote with the Insignia TV.
I tested the behavior with the remote that came with the TV and the settings were saved.  So I went to change the settings on my Harmony remote when I discovered Logictech had a software update that included the Insignia TV.  Installing that update fixed the issue.
And in case anyone else reads this, I am very pleased with this television set.  I had to learn a few things about HDTV first though to get everything out of it that it offers.

  • Insignia 55" TV HDMI Media Center DVD Pixelated Picture

Been using a Win 7 64bit Media Center with Media Browser to watch DVD on a Zenith 32" HDTV through a Pioneer SX -821 receiver using HDMI cables from a Radeon 5670 graphics card on a quad core PC.  Great picture but when hooking up a NS-55L260A13 with the same setup the picture is very pixelated, no blacks and poor quality.  The Windows 7 desktop, IE 9, and the Media Browser images are crystal clear and vivid.  Tried loading the Shark007 codex pack with no improvement.  Any ideas?

These days, DVD is considered an inferior source. A larger TV will only magnify the poor attempts to scale the DVD source. One cannot fairly judge the quality of a display based on DVD playback.

  • Picture Distorted with Blu-Ray Player

I have an older Sony Trinitron KV-32FV26 TV and if I connect a Blu Ray Disc Player (Insignia or a Samsung) through Component cables the picture is all distorted and cannot be viewed but if I connect a Sony DVP-NL800H standard DVD player through the same connections it plays fine. Do the Blu-Ray players send a high-def signal no matter what kind of content is trying to be played?
Appreciate any help anybody can give.

Your older TV is not capable of displaying either 1080P or any progressive program at tthat. On a standard definition (SD) non-progressive CRT like yours, blu-ray is a complete waste. Even if it could accept the signal, it wouldn't look any better.

  • Insignia 26" LCD TV/DVD Combo display problem

My Insignia 26" LCD TV/DVD Combo has a display problem when you turn it on it is very bright, changes to verticle stripes after about 10 minutes of "warm up" you begin to see a egraded picture and after a little more warm-up the picture finally comes through clear.  I am past my warrenty period but I would like to fix the TV rather than throw it away.
    1) can someone tell me what the problem is
    2) identify the part that needs replacment and the cost
    3) estimate repair cost if I brought it in to be fixed
    Thank you

Try setting the input to antenna and then scanning. If that doesn't work, you will need to get a tuner box.

  • Viewing jpeg type pictures from a usb drive

I am wanting a 20"-22" TV that will allow viewing jpeg type pictures from a usb drive. What TV's will support this?

You'll have to look at specific tvs. We carried a 19inch or a 20 something inch insignia I believe that did it at one time. To be honest, it wasn't anything really fantastic.  And make sure you double check on the tv, sometimes it will say "SERVICE ONLY", those you can't use for media.

  • Insignia LED-LCD HDTV Model: NS-32E570A11

I am Handicapped & Disabled & Must be hooked up to medical experiment for 6-7 hours a day & remain in bed & awake during this time.  I purchased this TV :   Insignia  LED-LCD HDTV Model: NS-32E570A11
    after my 7 month old Dynex™ - 32" Class / 720p / 60Hz D/ LCD HDTV DVD Combo
Model:DX-32LD150A11  refused to hold & recognize in it's memory HD channels. Guess I should have read the posts from other Dynex users, cuz there are a lot of problems with Dynex.
Even one of the Managers at my Best Buy store told me that her Dynex same exact TV did the exact same thing.   I am hoping that once repair is done that I will get a  "RA" number so I can get some of my money back on this insignia TV.
I do not See any difference with the Insigna TV & it is not as clear at home as it was in the store.
I have Time Warner cable with extended basic cable & within the last 6 months TWC had installed much larger cables underground & the cable is not the problem.
I did notice that in the store they only had very few channels.   Do they "Tweak" the channels in the store &/or power them differently to get sharper clearer images??
I am ready to take the LED Insignia TV back next time I am in town as it is 26 miles each way to get to the closest store.
I should be able to buy a TV & not have to worry that it is going to die on me. My old  36"Toshiba with a big tube lasted 16+ years.
Any suggestions on "RELIABLE" LCD 32" TV's that I can afford on just my SS income??

Stores do nothing to "tweak" channels in the store. TVs have many dozens of settings that can be changed by a user at home, and sometiems have presets to switch between certain values that the manufacturer has deemed "optimal" for certain viewing situations. If none of the preset settings offer the picture you desire, you will either need to learn how to change the settings to fit your viewing situation, or pay for a professional calibration.
It took me almost 6 months before I got my TV settings the way that I wanted them to be, using the calibration settings on various Disney DVDs, Star Wars DVDs, and special calibration DVDs, and constantly having a critical eye for everything I watched. After all of that time and effort, my TVs are about as close to profesionally calibrated as I can get them.
Have you had Time Warner out to the house to verify that it's not actually a cable problem? Just because they put "bigger cables" in the ground doesn't mean that the signal to your home is any better. Most cable and satellite companies compress their signal quite a bit on HD, and the quality suffers as a result.

  • Insignia 36 in LCD TV

We purchased 2 insignia TV's in Jan 2007, of which we had return 1 of them on three different occasions for (No picture/frozen picture or no power) all with in the first year.  Each of them were exchanged rather than refunded and rebilled so that an accurate date on the exchange would have been documented.  Once the 4th TV went out just out side of the 1 year mark we were unable to do anything about this do to insufficient documentation of purchase date(which was an error on Best Buy's behalf).  After speaking with customer service representative's and managers we found no help in this matter.  The question was posed to the BB representatives as to were there was any documentation for 3 damage TV's that would have be shipped off (one of which would have been the original serial number at the time of purchase proving that there was a true exchange)and again no help.  Now the second of the original TV's has been exchanged once within the 1 year mark for no picture.  It has been a total 6 Insignia and only 27 months and I've went from 2 TV's to Zero.   There is a problem with BB and more so with the Insignia brand.

Very disappointed in my experience and my poor choice of company and brand.

One word of advice. I just hooked up my mini to my 32" Lowe HD TV using a DVI to HDMI cable and it doesn't just work. The native resolution of the TV is not available for whatever reason so I have to bodge another resolution which looks terrible. When I plug my powerbook in via a DVI to VGA connector it just does work selecting the correct resolution automatically.
Either the problem lies with the mini or with connecting to the HDMI socket. As the HDMI is simply a dvi with audio I can't see why it would cause problems but who knows. Given all the other problems I am currently having with the mini I am pointing the finger in that direction currently.

  • Macbook to Insignia

I am trying to connect my macbook to Insignia HDTV. I have perfect video, but no audio. I have purchased the mini to rca cables that I have been told I needed. I have tried plugging them in everywhere possible, but with no success. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?
    Thanks!

    Hello wnlowery,
If you're receiving picture, but no audio-you would have to route your audio cable going from the back of your Macbook to your Insignia television.  As elementary as this may sound, it should do the trick.  If you're still having issues, I would recommend either consulting Apple for assistance, or you see a similar issue posted on our Insignia forums and its solution, by clicking here.
    Good luck!

  • Insignia LCD HDTV Display

I got a HDTV LCD TV for X-mas last year and just recently it has been getting this gray line along the top of the display and then the picture gets kinda distorted. I looked all over for information but unfortunately, like normal, I can not get my questions answered. This is why I NEVER use Best Buy....but my dad was not as smart as I am to not use them. So if anyone has any information that would be great.

    Hey Ktarver2,
Sorry to hear you're having problems with your Insignia TV. If you just got it for Christmas last year, I would recommend contacting our In Home Service department at 1-888-BESTBUY to set up an appointment while you are within the one-year manufacturer's warranty. After the year passes, you would be responsible for cost of all repairs so you'll want to call as soon as possible. I don't know what model your tv is, but you can also check for your product manual and information at http://www.insignia-products.com
    Hope this helps!
