Inspection lot w/o stock tab

Hi Guru,
We receive job work items through MIGO and MB31.
During MIGO , create one inspection lot w/o inspection lot stock tab and again create one more inspection lot at the time of MB31.
Pl. suggest any setting so that only one inspection lot will create after MB31.

Kindly excuse me but thereu2019s a confusion to me, if you can please clarify the same.
1.     First transaction that you are carrying out is MIGO for 101 movement I guess.
2.     For this movement you are observing that inspection lot stock is not getting generated. The probable one of the reasons for this according to me is, goods receipt against cost center using item category K in PO.
3.     When you inward such material against K, the stock gets consumed at the same moment you inward it. This is standard behaviour of SAP.
My question is,
1.     MIGO is done for say material XYZ. (the stock is not visible in MMBE if you have inwarded against cost center.)
2.     Now MB31 is done for which material? Is it the same material or different? If you have activated 04 inspection type to the material whose production you are declaring then system will generate the lot for it in 04.
3.     MB31 is generally used for goods receipt against production order.
I am unable to establish the link between MIGO and MB31 here.

Inspection Lot with Zero stock posting qty

Dear QM Consultants,
We have come across following scenario,
1.     Repetitive manufacturing
2.     Material has inspection type 04 and Z04. Preferred inspection type is not ticked. Z04 inspection type has been assigned to inspection lot 04.
3.     Production GR done by 131 movement
4.     Inspection lot generated with reference to 131 movement type. Lot for inspection type 04 is created.
5.     Inspection lot qty in QA32 it shows correctly as that of GR qty.
6.     But when we click on UD, in stock posting tab, qty to be posted it shows as ZERO. So no qty is available for stock posting.
Has anybody came across such scenario? Is this any bug? Any SAP note for this?

Dear Sujit, Thanks for so prompt reply,
Basically this is a complex case,
1.     See we have set Posting Proposal in Usage Decision as u2018To unrestricted useu2019 in selected sets for usage decision. That means we need not every time go to stock posting tab. The moment we select ACC UD code it automatically posts the stock to unrestricted use.
2.     Now, what has happed, by 131 movement declaration, backflush happened with 261 movement for child parts.
3.     Inspection lots with inspection type 04 were created. (Here we did not note whether the stock was posted in quality inspection or in unrestricted use)
4.     Now the requirement is to cancel 131 movement document. Kindly note UD were not given up to this moment.
5.     Now through MFBF, user did document specific reversal. As a result of which and as per my knowledge 132 movement should happen and 262 should also happen. At the same time inspection lot status should be set to LTCA. But in actual case 132 movement happened and 262 did not. Surprisingly inspection lot did not set to LTCA status. It remained in REL mode only.
6.     After this document specific reversal, user gave UD to these inspection lots without noticing where the stock was lying.(in unrestricted or in quality inspection). So the lot status set to UD   ICCO SPCO STUP after giving usage decision.
7.     Now while doing reverse engineering that why 262 movement did not happen, we came to know that no 321 movement happened for the inspection lots which were generated with reference 131 movement document
8.     Also, qty to be posted it shows ZERO as explained in my earlier post.
9.     When we display 132 movement document through MIGO, in where tab it shows stock type as Quality inspection. That means stock was lifted from QI for 132 movement.
In short it cannot be predicted where the stock was actually posted whether in QI or in unrestricted use. But yes the post to inspection stock tick has been ticked in material master.
Can you help further in this regard?

Linkage of inspection lot when the stock is posted to new material in UD.

Dear QM Gurus,
    My client has the following requirement.
   The stock is sometimes posted to the new material whle Usage decision(Partially or completely)
    In this case the target material has no linkage with the inspection lot of the material for which the Usage decision is done.
   The user has to manually create the inspection lot for the target material and record the same results once again for the record purpose.
   The requirement is to establish a link between the inspection lot original material and the target material so that the additional step of creating the manual inspection lot and result recording can be avoided.
Is there any standard functionality through which I can link the inspection lot/result recorded to the target material or can it be acieved through some enhance ments.

Hi Ankush,
I am not aware about the standard functionality for this link. But following work around may work for you. Possibly you may have to develop the ABAP report for this linkage. Try this if works.
1.     When you do material to material transfer in QA11 it generates a movement in background with material document generation.
2.     Pass the inspection lot through QAMB table and fetch all material documents
3.     Pass these material documents in MSEG table and get the material
4.     You may put several conditions for fetching these details.

Inspection lot for Non stock relavant without material master

Hi,
Could you suggest how to carry out the isncpection processing of an Non-Stock material without Material Master?
Our porcess is:
1. Create a Purchse Order
2.GR of Purchse Order. & directly consumtion to cost center.
Now my doubt is that how can we maintain the QM paarmeters for Non stock material without Material Master Record.?

Your requirement is not logical, If you say it is non-stock, once GR is done it would directly get consumed. QI to my knowledge not possible.

Inspection lot stock tab is missing

Hi,
In inspection lot generated for 01 insp type purchase order, the inspection lot stock tab is missing.
Is there any control ?

No.
The inspection lot stock tab is not cotrolled by user in standard, but fields possible by configuration.
If there is no inspection lot stock tab, it means the inspection lot has no stock even if insp. type '01'.
As YOGINI mentioned already, it must be source inspection or GR with other account assignment (not stock).

Inspection lot summary after UD and stock posted

lot summary level '2' had maintained in material record, when GR, lot summary work rightly.
But after UD and stock post to unrestricted stock and new GR, no inspection lot generated and stock were posted to unrestricted stock directly.
My question is ,why system does not generate new inspection lot?
I also found it in document that , lot summart does not take place if "A previously created inspection lot has already been completely credited from the stock", is that means system will create new lot in this situation?

After UD
If the UD is accept, SAP will not create new inspection lot.
If UD is reject SAP will create a new inspection lot.
If UD is not made but 'Qty to be posted' is zero then also SAP will create new inspection lot for subsequent goods receipts.

Don't see inspection Lot in my SCM 5.0 system

Hi,
I try to activate the functionality to see inspection lot as planned receipt to the end of the control date.
I activate this functionality in the CIF's IMG on my ECC system and activate/desactivate the Integration model for stock. So now I don't have inspection lot in my stock.
I create and activate an integration model for Inspection Lot transfer but I never see this inspection lot in my SCM 5 system.
Could you help me ?

Hi Laurent,
In the location master data in the SNP tab please maintain appropriate stock category group in the field Stock Cat. group to display the inspection stock.
In the planning book the INITIAL STOCK macro reads the stock from this category group, you should maintain all the stock category that you want to use for planning like unrestricted stock, inspection stock, vendor specific stock in this category group.

Resetting a sample for an inspection lot

How to reset a sample to an inspection lot, and transfer stock to inspection lot.

Try using the transaction codes QAC2 and QAC3 for both of your queries.
or open the inspection lot in change mode and assign the sample you would like.

Inspection lot assosiated with 322 mvt.

Hi QM experts,
Inspection type 08 is asigned to the material. bue when we did a 322 mvt the system didn't create the Inspection lot but the stock posted to Qulaity inspection. All the movements happened on 3 years back.
Not possible to cancel the material documents because all already archived.
I want to scrap the material. Kindly advise to fix the Issue.
I can't perform 551 and 553 because i am getting error Mvt. only possible with QM.

Try to move the material to unrestricted by 321 movement type and try to do 551.
Other wise please activate 0800 inspection type by using QA08. It will create a lot for existing stock in QI. DO the stock posting after that

Difference in actual qty & inspection lot qty

Dear gurus
i am in a situation.in the sales order the oty is 3000kg and the delivery made is alos 3000 kg . but when i checked the inspection lot (qa03) in the tab inspection lot qty the actual qty is 3000kg but the inspection lot qty and sample size is showing 2382 kg.what might be the reason.

Hi Sam,
3.There is one tab "correct actual Qty" in QA02.Have you made any chnages hee.
have you checked it,
Once you change this quantity and save, the lot quantity will also set accordingly.
To track the changes for the same for inspection lot, press Cntr + F12 in either QA03 or QA02

first you have to activate the QM view in material and activate the inspection type in the material master .
inspection plan to be prepared
as soon as you process the the GIR a inpection lot will be created for which you have to record the result .

<b>Inspection for a Goods Issue</b>
Purpose
The system can automatically create an inspection lot when a goods issue is posted in the system. A goods issue can be posted internally (for example, a material withdrawal from the warehouse) or to an external destination (for example, a goods issue to a customer). In a goods issue, the materials are usually withdrawn from unrestricted-use stock and posted to a cost center, project, customer, or other account assignment object. When the system creates an inspection lot for a goods issue, the inspection lot is not stock relevant.
Prerequisites
The system creates an inspection lot automatically for a goods issue if the following conditions have been met:
In Customizing for Inspection Lot Creation (Inspection for a Goods Movement) QM is active for the movement type.
QM is active for the material. This means that in the inspection settings of the material master:
In Customizing for Inspection Lot Creation (Inspection for a Goods Movement) QM is active for the movement type.
An inspection type is active for inspection lot origin 02 (goods issue)
The other indicators for the inspection type are set appropriately to meet your requirements for inspection processing (for more information, see Processing Inspection Settings)
Process Flow
The system creates an inspection lot automatically when the goods issue is posted in Materials Management (MM).
If the inspector will record results for inspection characteristics (controlled by the inspection settings in the material master), the system assigns an inspection specification (for example, a task list or material specification) to the inspection lot. If the system cannot find a specification or if more than one inspection specification is assigned to the material, you must assign a specification to the inspection lot manually.
If dynamic modification criteria are defined for the inspection lot origin or task list usage, the system checks the existing quality level for the material (and the other criteria, if applicable):
If a quality level is not available, the system creates one.
If the dynamic modification rule specifies that the quality level must be updated when the usage decision is made, the system does not update the quality level now.
If the dynamic modification rule specifies that the quality level must be updated when an inspection lot is created, the system updates the quality level now.
The system calculates the sample size.
If the sample calculation must be triggered manually (controlled by the inspection settings in the material master), you must call up the inspection lot in the change mode and choose the function to trigger the sample calculation manually.
If you are going to inspect the goods in the inspection lot using an inspection specification:
The system can print out the inspection instruction and/or sample-drawing instruction automatically when the inspection lot is created
You can print out the inspection instruction and/or sample-drawing instruction manually when you call up the inspection lot in the change mode
Result
You can use the information in the sample-drawing instruction and inspection instruction as a guide to:
Draw and prepare the samples at the work centers specified for each operation
Inspect the goods in the inspection lot
Record characteristic results and/or defects
When you have finished recording inspection results and/or defects, you can complete the inspection.
Result

Associate Inspection Lot to existing QM Notification

Hi QM's,
Can I link an IInspection Lot created with inspection lot origin = 08 stock transfer to a QM Notification that already exist and that is already assigned to another inspection lot?
The issue is that QM Notification is created for a Material / Serial Number, bbu t if that Material / Serial Number is defective we need to change it what is the best practice to do this?

Linking an inspection with an existing notification is not possible.
But what can you do is create another notification for this. There is a funcationality in notification called as Related notification wherein you will get to know if there was a notification generation for this material before and it will also give you the inspection lot and all the details.

The Inspection lot no will be displayed in Prod order only if insp type 03 (In Process Inspection) activated in QM view of Material Master for a material when the prod order is released.
For Insp type 04 (GR after Production) we can see the insp lot in QA32. It can not be displayed in Prod order.

I think you are talking about the stock posting proposal in the selected set.
in QS51 > selected the code group> go to codes> maintain a proposal against each code> Remove the proposal for automatic posting.
Then it will take you through the stock posting screen after you enter the UD code.

Display mode of storage location field in inspection lot stock tab in QA11

I'm not sure I understood the question.
In the UD screen on the first page the storage location is shown in display mode. To change that you can use QAC2.
On the stock posting screen you can change the storage location the stock is being posted if desired. Usually most places don't have a need to change this and procedurally train their users not to.
If you wanted the stock posting screen to be display only, you probably have to use the screen editor to modify that which I don't think you really want to do.
You could use automatic UD's to process your ok lots and then take away the QA11/12 from most of your users. Then have only a few people trained to do the inspection lots requiring a manual UD. If these people change the storage location it would be a specific choice they made, not an accident. If this becomes a problem, they either need more training, or need to be fired.
