Inspire 5.1 Digital 5700

I recently upgraded my motherboard to an Asus A8V w/ 8ch onboard support. I figure its better than my audigy, but it will not work. If I plug in my audigy it will put out sound, but I want to try and use the onboard audio until I can shell out some money for an audigy 4. Thanks!

The sound card is enabled on the bios. Is there anyway to run these into the standard green audio input and only run two channel?

Are you using the original Power Adapter? If you don't use a 4 amp +5 VDC Power Adapter to power the amplifier, this is exactly the response you will get. If that isn't it, then you have a problem with the Amplifier, would be my guess.

  • X-Fi Xtreme Music and Inspire 5.1 Digital 5700 speakers NOT Working Digitally

Can someone tell me why I cannot get the digital I/O jack to ouput the my speakers? I have tried using the creative I/O module plugged into the digital I/O jack then using a coaxial cable or optical to the 5700 speakers and neither works. I tried using the miniplug to digital DIN adapter that came with the 5700 speakers and it doesn't work. I know the speakers are fine cause they work fine using the onboard sound digital ouput. Did Creative do something to the X-Fi line of cards here?
    Thanks for any replies,

  • Creative Inspire 5.1 Digital 5700 center speaker problem

I have a SB Audigy sound card, here is my problem when i run the speaker test they all work and when i put effect on CMSS Movie or CMSS Music all the speakers work but when i put in Fourpoint 5. Din and run lets say EAX Goldmine, lisen to music or play a game i dont get sound from the Center speaker. All the other work just fine and sound come from the right direction exept if there is sound in front of me i cant hear it, any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
    JL

    Jlt_230
The Fourpoint/5. DIN mode acts as a bypass mode for discrete multichannel Digital DIN and 4 channel Analog signals from various sources and passes these signals direct to each speaker output. Therefore when playing back non Dolby Digital 5. (AC3) signals such as Stereo, you will only get Stereo (Left & Right channel) signals without the center signal.
You should be able to get the center channel when you playback Dolby Digital 5. (AC3) sources.

  • Creative Inspire 5.1 Digital 5700 - X-Fi Fatal1ty - Registering my HUGE Disappointm

Hugely disappointed that 5. in games in not possible with the above combination..
    WTF comes to mind.
I've read all the posts and all the reasonings, on the forums...
So we can get Stereo CMSS (5. channels)... 5. for AC3 (be it a dvd or other files with ac3)
    But no 5. in games!
I can't write the words I'd like to post, but pretty darn beep beep de beep beep.

You are right! you have only 4.
I own a Audigy 2 ZS mine have 6 & have the same speakes you own.
You'll have to use Analog Output for speakers to be able to plug your mic.
    That Sucks!

  • Digital 5700 Decoder

Hi,I have an issue with the Inspire 5.1 Digital 5700 decoder( I did log a call with Customer Services, but I'll get to that in a bit!). Essentially, when I power the on, the LED light goes from red to green. I then select the output I require? everything is fine. Seconds later, the unit switches itself off and the LED light goes back to red! When I try to turn it back on again, it always goes back to red. I logged a call with Customer Services, who asked what happens when I "gently tap" the unit. The LED does go to green, but eventually goes back to red again. Customer Services also asked me for the serial number, which I duly provided (CAMF375047000040N). They came back saying that they had no record of that serial number on their system. I even took photos of the unit with the SN and sent them across, but they still came asking me for proof of purchase and a 3rd confirmation of the SN. I'm at a bit of a loss as I no longer have the proof of purchase. The unit is 2.5 years old, and possible out of warranty. But I would like to know if what is happening with the unit is a common problem and if there is a fix? If there isn't, then I'll have to throw everything away and start again. Many thanks

    MasterRusty,
I have a post on here titled "inspire 5700's are junk" from back in Dec 2004, you are having the same problem with yours that I had so don't worry they will quit working altogether very soon. The digital decoder goes out in them usually within a year AFTER the warranty goes out so creative just says " oh well they are more than year old so too bad" I know from experience with them. There is nothing you can do about this except to pack them up and buy another brand. I stated before that maybe if enough people wrote in stating their problems with this system that maybe just maybe creative would realize that there really is a problem here and they would take a serious look into it and admit that yes we screwed up here and we will fix the problem for our customers, but I really doubt it because as I said before " they are the big company and we are the little people". I was told that "we can't offer unlimited warranties on our products" which I understand; but if you look at some of the other speaker companies they offer 2,3 even 4 year warranties, but again as I said you are really out of luck. I would really like to see Creative make a liar out of me and look into the problem and make things right for us, but I feel that is only a wish that won't come true.
    good luck,
    MrDave

  • How to connect SB X-FI XTREME MUSIC with Creative Inspire 5.1 Digital 5

    Hi,
I want to know what I have to do to connect my x-fi xtreme music with my creative inspire 5. digital 5700 due to listen music with all? 5 twiters. I have windows vista ultimate 32bits. Thanks!?JoanMessage Edited by joanantoni on 07-9-200703:54 AM

With your Inspire 5. Digital 5700, your best bet is?using the analog Front and Rear input connections on the decoder and connect them to the X-Fi Xtreme Music front (Line Out )?and rear (Line?Out 2)?output connections and then enable CMSS Music or CMSS Movie Mode on your Digital 5700 decoder which will then give you a 4./5. Upmix. Gi'ven that you don't have a Center connection on the the Inspire 5. Digital 5700, no connection can made to the your Front Center satelite speaker/Subwoofer (Line Out 3) on your X-Fi Xtreme Music card. I'm led to understand that Creative speaker systems do not need Bass Redirection to reproduce proper Bass frequencies on your Subwoofer and not on your satelite speakers but you may want to test this simply enabling and disabling Bass Redirection, on your X-Fi Xtreme Music sound card, to your own personal taste. Alternately, you can concurrently connect your Inspire 5. Digital 5700 via the Coxial Digital/PCM Input to the FlexiJack input/output jack on the X-Fi Xtreme Music and then enable Digital I/O mode for the FlexiJack in the Audio Console found in the Windows Control Panel or?in the Entertainment Mode or Game Mode Consoles. Unfortunately the FlexiJack only provides a 2 conductor connection therefore it only supports 2. Speaker system connections?therefore you will still have to enable the CMSS Music or CMSS Movie Modes on your Inspire 5. Digital 5700 decoder to produce a 4./5. sound upmix. Sadly, no optical connection can be made between your Inspire 5. Digital 5700 and your X-Fi Xtreme Music sound card without the installation of the X-Fi I/O Dri've or X-Fi I/O Console at, of course, additional expense. From my standpoint, the X-Fi I/O Dri've is a good value given the number of external inputs and outputs in offers. Again, it's a matter of what your personal connection requirements are and budget. Hope this hel
    ps.

  • Audigy 2 Video Editor - Inspire 5.1 Digital 5

How could I have sound with my Inspire 5. Digital 5700 with the digital DIN connector using a Audigy 2 ZS Video Editor Card ?
I have sound on 2 channels with the optical and/or coaxial cables, but I want to have the 5 channels thrue the DIN cable. Where must I put the connectors and how must I configure the parameters in my computer ?
I have the DIN-DIN connector and the DIN-Jack adaptator.
Thank you in advance for you answer.
    Malou.

    Daedalus3,
I know I've addressed this one before ... I have never heard of any Audigy soundcard, including Video Editor, taking a 5. compressed signal into the S/PDIF and recording it as a *.ac3 (for example). I do not know of commercial audio software apps that support this and anyway there would be an outcry from the RIAA because such a facility would remove all "roadbumps" to jacking commercial surround recordings at full resolution.
You can record a stereo uncompressed stream from the SPDIF (e.g. the output of a DAT player or of various other consumer audio devices).

  • Creative Digital 5700 Inspire 5.1

For years, I used speakers with my desktop that had a Creative Audigy2 Soundcard, via the Digital DIN connection.
Recently I switched to a laptop. Laptop has a 3.5 mm SPDIF output. I connected the SPDIF output to a 3.5mm male-to-RCA female adapter, then an RCA-to-RCA cable to the coaxial input of the Digital 5700.
However, I don't get any sound from the speakers.
any idea? is my setup wrong? how can i get any sound from the laptop to the speakers?thanks in advance.

Please check your speaker manuals first if you still have them. I don't think you will be able to feed your speaker with digital connection from your notebook. This is the reason :
    1. Your notebook have a standard SPDIF connection, it's a industrial standard which work with every standard A/V receiver or decoder.
    2. Your speaker (Creative Digital 5700 Inspire 5.1) have a DIGITAL DIN in, not a standard DIGITAL SPDIF in. DIGITAL DIN is a propietary connection, so it only works Creative sound card that have DIGITAL DIN out (your audigy 2 for example). Creative is notorious with it's DIGITAL DIN which only works between their own sound cards and speakers. (be careful, audigy2 nx and X-Fi have a standard DIGITAL SPDIF, unlike the rest of their comrades)
There is no way you can make the speaker work with your notebook, except you know how to hard mod it.
Creative team, please correct me if i am wrong.

But when i switch to "digital out only" i still hear sound in my headphones and ABSOLUTELY nothing on my speakers :-!
connected from SB card digital out to green din converter to digital in on decoder of speaker system.
am very interessted in knowing how to get my li'vedri've to work with the optical in/out and so on :-! which drivers am i to use?
tried reading the information on the floats, but im just even more confused than before i started using creatives "support" - pages ;-)

Hi! I have the same problem! The digital output doesn't work!
There was a driver with those the backend worked but the frontpanel didn't. With all the other drivers I tried there was no sound on my Inspire 5. digital 5700 when I used the DIN connection.
I need the Inspire 5. digital 5700 connected to the back of my PC. Is there anybody who can help?

  • Inspire 5.1 Digital 5600 - LOSE BASIC FUNCTIONALITY?

    Hi all,
We will see if this gets edited. This is in addition to the original message, as I have no answers, just more questions. I have bought Creative products all my life, Ill leave it up to you in deciding wether I will in the future. If anyone actually knows a way around these problems, please let me know. Im sure I wont have a reply from Creative, but I will live in hope that I get a personally deli'vered set of speakers that adds to my options, not diminishes them!.
Well, I have XP Pro SP2, Audigy DE and just bought Inspire 5.1 Digital 5600 to upgrade from my cheaper analog 5.1 speakers that sounded OK and worked fine. I read all about the 5600's and thought - better sound, heaps of connection options etc. Their NOT exactly cheap! The point I would like to make is that I had good 5.1 sound, and now I have better sound AND A WHOLE LOT OF HASSLES IN RETURN FOR SPENDING A LOT OF MONEY. WHAT A MISTAKE.
I have THE ONLY AVAILABLE 5.1 connection from my Sound Card to the 5600 speakers, 3.5 mm 4 pole jack to din to din to speakers. (thats simple isnt it!!!) I have all the latest drivers etc, etc, etc.
    NOW ...
    1) If Im listening to 5.1 ie DVD, You dont get any system OR ANY OTHER sound? (Thats great for when your on the Net and need to know whats happening, isnt it's)
    2) So I figure, well Ill connect the SC to the decoder using analog cables, SORRY, YOU CANT DO that unless you want to lose a channell? (for the sakes of one more center\sub jack or using all the pins in the DIN plug.)
    3) Well, Ill set the mixer to do AC3 Decode to try and get back any other sound besides 5.1 Dolby, SORRY, that doent work either ... No matter how you have the decoder\Amp set up, you lose the center channel, ie, no voices?!!
    4) Well Ill use the passthrough feature as it explaines in the book, SORRY, IT DOENT WORK EITHER, its meant to pass the Dolby Digital straight through to the respective channels, IT DOESNT? You lose the rear channels. I have tried every combination of everything, and you cant get ANY OTHER SOUND when you are playing Dolby Digital 5.1. so you have a "on board decoder" that NOW DOENST WORK and cant be used?
    5) Why buy another 5.1 Dolby decoder when your Sound Card\Software already does it ... well I wanted to be able to use the other anolog Sound Card outputs ... SORRY, YOU CANT. When you enable the digital output only in Surround Mixer, IT DISABLES ALL THE OTHER SC output JACKS as well. GREAT!!! so you cant even feed an anolog signal in to it to try and get the "other" sound back that way? THEIR IS NO WAY!
    6) All the controls .. ie... Bass Redirection, AC3 Decode, Sub Volume, Center Volume, Balance and fade controls all DONT WORK at ALL when playing 5., and the bass Redirection works backwards whith standard PCM Sound!?
    7) The TEST SPEAKER function in Surround Mixer is now useless except for standard stereo. (no wonder they put a test function on the remote!)?
    8) Their is bad initial distortion when you ie, fast forward, start, stop ANY Dolby Digital source?
(10 THIS IS THE BEST ONE - They DONT TELL YOU ANYWHERE about any of this stuff?, Unless Im stupid, I dont feel these speakers are fit for their purpose, is that not a condition in the Trade Practises Act? Creative, please knock on my door! and PLEASE DONT send me an Email with a "reload the drivers" pre-formatted Email, I couldnt bear the added stress!
    11) How come you cant plug the Audigy straight in to the 5600 decoder with a mono cable like it says you can with every other Amp\Decoder you can buy, then they could have used the other DIN Plug Pins for anolog Audio as well and at least reatained similtanious multi sound format.
I just dont get it! Why does it have to Dolby Decode a Dolby Decoded Signal?
    12) etc. etc., etc.,etc. etc., etc.,etc. etc., etc.,etc. etc., etc. ....
I could write 5 pages of all the other area where you go BACKWARDS, but I have better things to do with my time, all from a relatively expensive purchase. SO what have I ended up with ... Sure, these speakers sound OK, a bit better than my old $45 speakers, but I end up hearing one type of sound from my computer at a time with NO WAY to remedy it (inexcusable) and a second Dolby Digital decoder that I didnt need in the beginning that removes the most basic functions and I also lose the analog outputs on the sound card. Also the Dolby Digital output is about 40% quieter than "standard" PCM sound! And dont forget, be carefull, dont turn them up too loud, or you might blow the fuse and have to spend a fortune and be without speakers for weeks\months while a Technician has to to replace the fuse at great cost! (thats what they tell you in the book) And dont leave that massi've 2.5 amp power supply on all the time, that will even send you more broke trying to pay the power bill.
I have never bought a product before that removes options and useability, your money is meant to buy you these things, isnt it's? Hopefully Im just an idiot and someone will tell me this nightmare is over. By reading the other posts, I can only assume that any real posts like this are nuked in seconds, so you end up with a whole lot of useless dribble that doesnt help anyone, just wastes more of their time for spending their hard earned money. • Rear speakers mapping over front speakers Inspire 5.1 Digital 5500

When I wanted surround on my pc a few years ago, and didn't want to buy a new speaker set, I hooked up my Inspire 5.1 Digital 5500 to my Audigy 2 ZS. The only way to do this was by plugging the different speaker inputs directly from the subwoofer connection panel into the various output ports of my card. Thus skipping the 5500's decoder/volume control device which is only hooked up to provide power to the sub/speaker system. Volumes are set on the audigy card itself.
This has worked fine for a few years and gave no problems whatsoever upto now. Even to the point where I replaced my Audigy 2 for a X-FI Fatality because I thought my soundcard was screwed. With the X-Fi it worked correctly for a day and then it went wrong again. I can't get it to work right and am clueless what the problem is. But I presume it's something in the speaker system.
    What happens is as follows:
My rear channels are so soft they almost sound muted. Changing the settings/levels in the speaker settings or THX calibration doesn't make any difference whatsoever. And the majority of the sound that has to go to the back gets mapped on the front speakers. This is also the case with the speaker test and not a dolby/dts/surround problem.
    Front Left is ok
    Front Right is ok
Front Center gets played by Front Center AND Front Left (soft volume) AND Front Right (soft volume)
Rear Left gets played by mainly FRONT Left (and very softly on Rear Left)
Rear Right gets played by mainly FRONT Right (and very softly on Rear Right)
I rewired, checked cables, (replaced the soundcard from Audigy 2 to X-FI), reinstalled drivers and reinstalled windows. I'm now clueless and got no idea how to get it fixed.
I also tried hooking them up through the optical cable on the X-FI bay and having them properly wired to the 5500's decoder device. But that was even less successfull (only getting a lot of static white noise and no audio signal whatsoever) I also read this won't get me surround anyways except for when true surround sources get played (dvd playback etc), so I stopped going down that path and have them back on the normal minijack plugs.
Please help. I don't want to have to invest in another speaker system. Especially not after the expensive audio card replacement which apparently wasn't necessary.
I also don't get it how a rear signal can end up on the front speakers. When they are seperate cables. Or is there a decoder in the sub-unit as well which may have been broken?
    Thanks in advance.
