Inspire 7900, want to only connect up 5.1 speakers
I got the 7900 7.1 system with my PC, but dont really have the room for all of the speakers. Is there anyway to only connnect up front and rear and centre, and not have anysound missed out?
Well this is exact opposite i have just bought the system and only appear to be able to get 5.1 sound out of it! I have auidgy zs card but wires that came with speakers shown as 4 in to base speaker and 3 in to sound card i have 4 to plug into sound card and a bonus grey so 4 at each end of the lead and with or with grey plugged in i have 5.1 !! and it set on system to be 7.1 on tests just misses goes quiet when 2 side speakers are ment to opperate. Any ideas anyone does every one else have same lead or 4 into 3 lead!

Firefox is not exactly crashing. I can be online reading e-mail, surfing the net, or just reading information. Suddenly I may receive a notice from AT&T that my browser is closed and asking if I want to remain connected to the internet. This has been happening for the last several weeks. I called AT&T & they advised that it was not their problem, but my browser server...Firefox.
I have been running a belated copy of AVG Free while waiting to get a new DVD part installed. (AT&T tech suggested that might be a contributing factor.) Today I installed a new 2011 version of AVG, but the browser is still closing although perhaps not as often.
HELP! I am a total computer idiot. I just need someone to walk me through a solution.

i'm about to buy an Inspire 7900 speakers system.
I wanted to know if the CMSS will work with my stereos Music / Movie with any soundcard ?
It is totally "hardware" mix ? or is it dependent on a soundblaster card and driver on Windows system ?
Actually, i'm using an audigy 2 ZX, but under Linux, so there is non EAX / CMSS driver.
If i understood, I will have to activate CMSS on the subwoofer, but which one in my case ?
there is 3 choices for the t7900 :
5. ==> 7.1
6. ==> 7.1
or direct
i often watch movie (stereo) and i want to have CMSS activated, even under linux.

Stephhi, this is a normal problem due to your choice of connection, this quote is taken from the creative floated thread in the soundblaster area.
Digital Connections
Digital connections come in two standard forms, optical and coax. They both give you exactly the same result, the only difference is the medium (material) through which the signal travels. The thing to remember about digital is that for ordinary, uncompressed sound, it will only carry a stereo signal. So, if you like to use CMSS with your music, or you try the speaker test function, optical/coax is useless as you only hear the front left/right speakers. -
How do I use time capsule as a direct backup drive only connect to my macbook pro via ethernet cable
I have recently abandoned my cable internet service provider and am using my iPad as a hotspot via verizon wireless service. I am trying to reconfigure my time capsule as a back up drive only connected by an ethernet cable.
I was able to set it up on my new hotspot wireless net, but do not want to use it that way because of the data usage impact on my verizon wireless account.
Hopefully there is an easy answer, but it is not intuitively obvious to me.Well I have to say you can do it.. but if you are plugging and unplugging ethernet, you could just as easily plug and unplug an external USB drive.. and it will be faster and more reliable than the TC.

You can also do it with wireless if you accept using a USB wireless stick plugged into the Mac.. then you have two wireless clients and can connect simultaneously to two different networks.. using the same principles as above that you remove the gateway and dns problems that arise by manual settings. -
Why does my iPhone 5 only connect to wifi when it's with in 5 feet of the server
I Up graded to an i phone 5 s. From a 4 and the 5 will only connect to the wifi at home when I am with in a few feet of the server my 4 worked all over the house and even in the back yard. But now I can't even be in the hallway and keep connection. Other. I phone 4s have a good connection throughout the house and other iPhone. 5. Are the same as mine it seems a s though there may be a poor quality antenna on e new iPhone 5 s models and a lesser quality of a product this seems to be a trend with iPhone and it is very disappointing. Is there anything that can be done and also could you start building your newer products with better performance parts. (If it's not broke don't fix it). I want my iPhone 4 back lol. I have done a hard reset to resolve my issue and I have checked my wifI signal side by side with other phones and I pad. Please let me know if anything can be done thanks you
if this is the case with all wifi routers then I would say that the wifi antenna of the iphone5 is broken or not connected

Placing your device into recovery (DFU) mode:

Had to get new hard disk for my macbook. After installing snow leopard on new HD the computer only connects to free wifi at certain places and not others. Took it to genius bar (of course it worked find there!) they said it was fine. But problem persist.

Can only connect 2 Macs at a time to Airport/TC
Just what the title says, I can only connect 2 devices at a time. If I want to connect a third someone needs to get off their Mac.
This happens usually because the TC is in the wrong mode..
Go to the airport utility and check if the TC is in router mode, ie DHCP and NAT.. if not place it in that model and tell me what happens.
You need to give loads more info.
Type of broadband and actual modem / router supplied is a good start. -
Ethernet-only connection to Netgear MR814v3
Qwest DSL (Actiontec GT701 Modem) with 2 Macs: 1 iBook and 1 Powerbook G4, both running OS 10.3.9

I connect fine wirelessly with iBook, but for the Powerbook, I can only browse/get online successfully thru ethernet. Airport has strong signal and I enter password for the SSID/network - and everything "looks" great (i.e. in the Network Prefs it says I am connected to the Internet, but really I can't do anything).
Any advice would be appreciated.So, the Powerbook was connected to the router via ethernet, then all of a sudden, the iBook would not connect wirelessly (like it had been all day long) and went so far as to give an error message that the (WPA Personal) password for the network was wrong. I rebooted the modem, router, and both laptops, in that order (waiting for all appropriate lights to come on) and now, they have switched places. The Powerbook connects using wireless and the iBook will only connect via ethernet.
Additional note: I had to type in the DNS servers (provided by my ISP, Qwest) before getting the iBook to connect via ethernet.
I am officially frustrated.
One more thing - of course, Qwest wanted me to buy their pricey, high-end "modem and wireless router-all-in-one) but I already had the Netgear from my last setup and wanted to save some cash (needed to, really) so I got the barebones Qwest modem.

To save battery, I leave my wifi off when the TP's screen is locked. At home, my TP has no problem reconnecting to wifi after the screen is unlocked. However, at work, which uses enterprise wifi, I can only connect the first time. If I lock the screen and then unlock it (causing the wifi to turn off and on again) then the TP will not reconnect and I would get the "Association failed" error over and over again. If I were to turn the TP off and on again, I would still get the same error. Here's the strange part, if I come in work the next day, it would be able to connect to the wifi. If I were to leave the wifi on all the time, it would not disconnect even if I lock the screen. Now if I were to turn off the wifi and then turn it on again, the TP would not reconnect. So it seems like the TP can only connect the first time each day....very strange...and frustrating.

Yet after much proding and denial you finally provide small portions of error messages which fully identify the problem and can be found in many other posts in these forums. Yet still, you haven't actually provided full output - instead you paraphrased the output after a couple of "//" symbols.
If you don't give us the actual output we can't help - except in this case the error is so common we could very easily help. So could the wiki page on wpa_supplicant if you had read it, as your problem is explictly listed there in a "NOTE" box. But more importantly if you are reluctant to give us actual output we will not want to help you.
This issue would have been solved instantly if you would have provided the actual output instead of lying about it.

Why can I only connect to the internet using my IPhone 5S 4G via a USB and not wirelessly?
Apologies if I'm not using the right jargon ... I have a laptop (Dell Latitude D510 - Windows 7 Ultimate) that can connect to my Mobile Broadband wirelessly no problem but I can't utilise my IPhone's 4G connection (iOS 7.0.5) unless I use the USB cable (my personal hotspot is also on). I can't connect wirelessly to my personal hotspot without the USB cable. It keeps saying Windows is unable to connect to my IPhone. I have tried to troubleshoot this myself but can't find an obvious problem. Interestingly I could only connect via my USB when I downloaded the ITunes program as my computer failed to recognise my IPhone. Furthermore, I have a Dell Alienware laptop which has no problems connecting to my IPhone either way - USB or wirelessly (also has ITunes downloaded). I've searched the Internet forums for an answer on but I can't find one. Can anyone help? Thanks if you can.

Can only connect to HTTPS (secure) sites and can't connect to HTTP sites
In short I CAN ONLY connect to HTTPS sites, meaning secure.
I've narrowed this down to an issue regrading my mac book pro and the wireless router.
Router:
- not sure of the make model
- other computers CAN connect to this router and go online
My Mac:
- Mac Book Pro
- OS X 10.6
- I can connect to other wireless networks just fine
- I can surf the web for about 10 minutes or so then it blocks ALL http traffic
and i'm only allowed to https sites
going to a http site results in a "page is taking to long to respond"

Can only connect to Internet from one computer at a time on network
I have a 2 computer network in my office networked with an Asante 10/100 hub. The computers are a iMac 24 (Intel) and an old G4 (PCI). The network has worked fine until just recently. Now, I can only connect to the Internet with one computer at a time...(DSL connection). I checked cables, ports, etc, and I'm wondering if this is a 10.4.9 issue. Coincidentally, I noticed that I am not able to access the Internet via Win XP using Parallels which also worked fine up until recently. I checked with the ISP (AT&T) who confirmed that all is OK on their end. Anyone have similar problem? Could OS X 10.4.9 be the culprit? Any help on this will be much appreciated. Thanks.
iMac 24 Mac OS X (10.4.9) 2G RAM; NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT 256I'd consider that a 3 computer network, Parallels being a virtual machine would alias the ethernet interface and need its own IP address. That may or may not have anything to do with your problem. Actually, the way you've described things, it sounds like a lot has to do with your contract with ATT. Is there a routing device at your end?
The only way 10.4.9 could be the culprit would be if it were the routing device.
