  • Inspire Digital 5700 5.1 and X-FI

5 months ago I got my new pc and thought it would rock with my new x-fi cand and 5700 speakers but quickly found out the incompatiability. I have searched through many posts and I am confused. What would be the solution to make my combination work to the fullest for gaming/music?

Inspire 5700 Digital can't connect with analogue( three cables ), only with optical spdif or coax to x-fi.

4-pole mini-jack DIN converter is for sound blaster live 5.1, if you use with X-fi only have 2.0 sound (stereo) no 5.1. The best option is the optical/coaxial input in the 5700.

    Creative's 4-pole mini-jack & Digital DIN:
You can only get the full use out of this connection when used between Creative Sound Blasters and compatible Creative speaker systems. It is the digital equivalent of the analogue connections, but instead of using 3 stereo sockets, you use just one digital socket. There are 4 conducting connections in the socket (unlike coax which has two) so there are enough connections to carry 3 different digital stereo signals (front R/L, rear R/L and Sub/Centre). You will probably require a 4-pole mini-jack > DIN converter to connect your Creative speakers to this socket. Using this connection will allow you to get surround from games (unlike SPDIF). However the digital DIN input on some Creative speakers can't receive AC3/DTS data, so you may still require an optical/coax connection.
N.B. This digital socket on the Sound Blaster cards doubles as the digital coax output. If you don't have digital DIN, you can use a mono or stereo mini-jack > RCA converter to connect to the coax input on your speakers, as the front R/L or AC3/DTS signals are sent through the tip of the plug.

  • I have an inspire 5.1 digital 5700 that wont start up

i have an inspire 5.1 digital 5700 that wont start up
all the leds light up and thats all that happends
is there somebody who can tell me what's wrong?

Are you using the original Power Adapter? If you don't use a 4 amp +5 VDC Power Adapter to power the amplifier, this is exactly the response you will get. If that isn't it, then you have a problem with the Amplifier, would be my guess.
    Good Luck!

  • Creative Digital 5700 Inspire 5.1

For years, I used speakers with my desktop that had a Creative Audigy2 Soundcard, via the Digital DIN connection.
Recently I switched to a laptop. Laptop has a 3.5 mm SPDIF output. I connected the SPDIF output to a 3.5mm male-to-RCA female adapter, then an RCA-to-RCA cable to the coaxial input of the Digital 5700.
However, I don't get any sound from the speakers.
any idea? is my setup wrong? how can i get any sound from the laptop to the speakers?thanks in advance.

Please check your speaker manuals first if you still have them. I don't think you will be able to feed your speaker with digital connection from your notebook. This is the reason :
    1. Your notebook have a standard SPDIF connection, it's a industrial standard which work with every standard A/V receiver or decoder.
    2. Your speaker (Creative Digital 5700 Inspire 5.1) have a DIGITAL DIN in, not a standard DIGITAL SPDIF in. DIGITAL DIN is a propietary connection, so it only works Creative sound card that have DIGITAL DIN out (your audigy 2 for example). Creative is notorious with it's DIGITAL DIN which only works between their own sound cards and speakers. (be careful, audigy2 nx and X-Fi have a standard DIGITAL SPDIF, unlike the rest of their comrades)
There is no way you can make the speaker work with your notebook, except you know how to hard mod it.
Creative team, please correct me if i am wrong.

  • Digital 5700 Decoder

Hi,I have an issue with the Inspire 5.1 Digital 5700 decoder( I did log a call with Customer Services, but I'll get to that in a bit!). Essentially, when I power the on, the LED light goes from red to green. I then select the output I require? everything is fine. Seconds later, the unit switches itself off and the LED light goes back to red! When I try to turn it back on again, it always goes back to red. I logged a call with Customer Services, who asked what happens when I "gently tap" the unit. The LED does go to green, but eventually goes back to red again. Customer Services also asked me for the serial number, which I duly provided (CAMF375047000040N). They came back saying that they had no record of that serial number on their system. I even took photos of the unit with the SN and sent them across, but they still came asking me for proof of purchase and a 3rd confirmation of the SN. I'm at a bit of a loss as I no longer have the proof of purchase. The unit is 2.5 years old, and possible out of warranty. But I would like to know if what is happening with the unit is a common problem and if there is a fix? If there isn't, then I'll have to throw everything away and start again. Many thanks

    MasterRusty,
I have a post on here titled "inspire 5700's are junk" from back in Dec 2004, you are having the same problem with yours that I had so don't worry they will quit working altogether very soon. The digital decoder goes out in them usually within a year AFTER the warranty goes out so creative just says " oh well they are more than year old so too bad" I know from experience with them. There is nothing you can do about this except to pack them up and buy another brand. I stated before that maybe if enough people wrote in stating their problems with this system that maybe just maybe creative would realize that there really is a problem here and they would take a serious look into it and admit that yes we screwed up here and we will fix the problem for our customers, but I really doubt it because as I said before " they are the big company and we are the little people". I was told that "we can't offer unlimited warranties on our products" which I understand; but if you look at some of the other speaker companies they offer 2,3 even 4 year warranties, but again as I said you are really out of luck. I would really like to see Creative make a liar out of me and look into the problem and make things right for us, but I feel that is only a wish that won't come true.
    good luck,
    MrDave

  • True 5.1 from Audigy 2 ZS notebook to Inspire Digital 5

I have a audigy2 zs notebook and inspire 5700 digital speaker system. How do I get true 5. sorround with it (other than cmss upmix)? I tried connecting the speaker docking
cable(supplied with zs notebook) as below:
ZSN docking cable's green jack > tandem cable green jack > analog front input of inspire digital
ZSN docking cable's black jack > tandem cable black jack > analog rear input of inspire digital
ZSN docking cable's orange jack > 4pole minijack to Digital DIN adaptor (supplied with inspire 5700) > 5. Digital DIN of inspire digital
Settings on the inspire 5700 were:
Input selection: Digital DIN (tried this with and without Analog line in enabled)
    Fourpoint 5. DIN
With the above settings, I'm able to get true 4 speaker sorround (tested it and calibrated it using creative's speaker settings). But whatever I do, there is no sound from
front center speaker and subwoofer. When I disconnect the orange cable, it makes no difference, from which I inferred that the sound I'm getting is only from the front and
rear analog inputs. How do I get the digital 5. DIN to work?

Is everything connected ok? Sounds like either your centre speaker got unplugged at some point, or you have swapped two sets around (so the front is going to the centre). Check they are firmly plugged in too, its easy to just half plug one in. Could be the speaker side connections too, so its worth checking them. I cant imagine the problem being more serious or complicated than that. Would be worth going through every connection and volume setting (both sides, at the speakers themselves, etc) just to be sure.
Might make it easier if u use the creative speaker test thing, where it goes through each speaker saying the name.
Hope im not just telling you things you already know, you seem pretty competent on the forums!

  • Audigy Platinum Ex and Inspire Digital 5500 Speak

Having li'ved with my old Cambridge speakers now for about 3 years years I have recently noticed a sound similar to a distant rumble of thunder on the speakers, the longer they are left on the lounder and more frequent the rumble becomes. So, as they are getting on a bit I have decided to invest in a new set of speakers - Creative Inspire Digital 5500's, but they have yet to arri've.
Have I made a mistake in ordering these speakers? I have read several threads that intimate there may be a number of problems/incompatibility issues.
From what I can gather I either have to plug the speakers directly into the Audigy card outputs to retain the software advantages (5. speakers, base, treble and EAX) and then lose the manual ability to control the volume from the supplied Inspire Amp/mixer OR plug the speakers into the Amp/mixer and lose the software control.
My main use for the speakers is listening to music, not really interested in Dolby output or watching DVDs, screen and study too small, but I do occasionally watch a film or TV episode on the PC.
If anyone can either confirm or deny my percieved error in ordering these speakers it would be most appreciated.
    Dave McCreath

    Hi All
Answering my own question for others to find should they have any qualms.
New speakers arri'ved and installed. Connected to PC via coaxial input and work fine on both stereo (front left and right speakers only) and Dolby Pro Logic (all speakers - WOW!!).
Using Audio HQ, supplied with my Audigy software, I can test the speakers but only the front right and left work with the test. However, all work fine with the speaker test from the inspire 5500 remote - so verdict:
I am impressed with the quality, easy set up and sound manipulation. EAX also works fine!

  • X-Fi Xtreme Music and Inspire 5.1 Digital 5700 speakers NOT Working Digitally

Can someone tell me why I cannot get the digital I/O jack to ouput the my speakers? I have tried using the creative I/O module plugged into the digital I/O jack then using a coaxial cable or optical to the 5700 speakers and neither works. I tried using the miniplug to digital DIN adapter that came with the 5700 speakers and it doesn't work. I know the speakers are fine cause they work fine using the onboard sound digital ouput. Did Creative do something to the X-Fi line of cards here?

  • Creative Inspire 5.1 Digital 5700 center speaker problem

I have a SB Audigy sound card, here is my problem when i run the speaker test they all work and when i put effect on CMSS Movie or CMSS Music all the speakers work but when i put in Fourpoint 5. Din and run lets say EAX Goldmine, lisen to music or play a game i dont get sound from the Center speaker. All the other work just fine and sound come from the right direction exept if there is sound in front of me i cant hear it, any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
    JL

    Jlt_230
The Fourpoint/5. DIN mode acts as a bypass mode for discrete multichannel Digital DIN and 4 channel Analog signals from various sources and passes these signals direct to each speaker output. Therefore when playing back non Dolby Digital 5. (AC3) signals such as Stereo, you will only get Stereo (Left & Right channel) signals without the center signal.
You should be able to get the center channel when you playback Dolby Digital 5. (AC3) sources.

  • Creative Inspire 5.1 Digital 5700 - X-Fi Fatal1ty - Registering my HUGE Disappointm

Hugely disappointed that 5. in games in not possible with the above combination..
    WTF comes to mind.
I've read all the posts and all the reasonings, on the forums...
So we can get Stereo CMSS (5. channels)... 5. for AC3 (be it a dvd or other files with ac3)
    But no 5. in games!
I can't write the words I'd like to post, but pretty darn beep beep de beep beep.

You are right! you have only 4.
I own a Audigy 2 ZS mine have 6 & have the same speakes you own.
You'll have to use Analog Output for speakers to be able to plug your mic.
    That Sucks!

  • Inspire 5.1 Digital 5700

I recently upgraded my motherboard to an Asus A8V w/ 8ch onboard support. I figure its better than my audigy, but it will not work. If I plug in my audigy it will put out sound, but I want to try and use the onboard audio until I can shell out some money for an audigy 4. Thanks!

The sound card is enabled on the bios. Is there anyway to run these into the standard green audio input and only run two channel?

  • Inspire 5700 - Digital stopped working

I have the Inspire Digital 5700 speakers and a while ago the digital Din stopped working. I then used the analogue.
Ive just upgraded my soundcard to the Audigy 2 ZS Platinum that requires 3 analogue outputs. Unfortunately the decoder wants 2. The Digital Din still doesnt work.
To test the system, I tried inputting optical from the front box to the rear of the decoder and still no sound.
    1. Do all of the digital inputs run from the same internal electronics ?
    2. Can I replace my decoder with the DDTS-100 ?
    3. Ive ordered the mini-jack to digital DIN cable from creative, but where can I get the mini Din to mini Din ? Creative doesnt sell this. Im in the UK
    Thanks

You could contact Customer Support directly to see if they can supply you with the DIN cable.
If you're connecting from the optical output on the drivebay to the optical input on the decoder, you'll need to change settings. This knowledgebase case covers a lot of detail:
