Inspire P580 PSU seems dead

Hello!
I need some help. I've got an Inspire P580 Speaker set from a friend but it seems that the power supply is dead. I tested the kit with my P380's PSU justo to see if it was in fact from the PSU and the kit worked, but as would be expected, poorly since the difference in power output from the PSUs is there.
So, my question is where do I get a new PSU to the P580 ?
Thanks!

If it's an external power supply. The answer is YES!

  • Availability of Inspire P580 PSU in the US?

    Hi,
I'll shortly be moving from the UK to the US, and I own a UK-bought Inspire P580 5.1 speaker set. Due to the voltage difference (220/240V vs 110/120V) I'd need a new, US-sourced 110V PSU in order to use the speakers in the US.
Is it possible to buy a compatible PSU from Creative Labs US? Are there any third-party PSUs I could use instead?

  • Inspire p580

    Hi,
I have a inspire p580 5.1 speaker system. I recently wiped my system and cannot seem to find the installation cd to install the speakers to my system. I have tried searching for the drivers on the site and the web but have had no joy.
I have tried automatic detection but my system still cannot find the speakers. If anyone has any ideas on how i can get my speakers to work i would be very greatful as at the moment imn having to use 2.1 speakers and i am missing the surround sound
    Thanks in advance
    Oliver

sorry? the speaker sets are independant of the computer, the connection is made to the soundcard by analog or digital, but not in this case, connections, thus not interacting with the computer. they have no drivers or software. only the soundcard which powers them does.

  • Inspire P580 sound system problem.

As you see from the subject, i am using inspire P580 sound system. My sound card is Realtek AC97. SO, the front right speaker stopped working :/ everything is plugged into its place and if plug that panel into another socket IT WORKS, strange. sound controls are okay. Dont know what to do. socket couldn't be broken :/ thanks in advance for help.

    ThirdFoot,
Try testing the speaker with another audio source such as portable/MP3 player.
    1. Completely disconnect the speaker cable from the sound card.
    2. Make sure the speaker cable is still securely connected to the speaker system.
    3. Connect the Line Out connector of the speaker cable (usually green and is linked to the front speaker) into the Line Out/Headphone jack of the external device.
    4. Power the device on and start playing audio.
    5. Listen and make a note if there is not any sound or if the sound is distorted in any way.
    6. Disconnect the speakers from the device and repeat steps 1-3 for Line Out 2 connector (usually black and is linked to the rear speaker) and Line Out 3 connector (usually orange and is linked to the center/sub speaker) if the speaker system has more than 2 speakers.
If everything seems to work fine in the above test, then the problem may lies in your soundcard and not the speaker.
The above test information is obtained from the Knowledgebase article SID273.

  • Can't Install My Photoshop 7 again. The setup.exe seems dead.

I can't Install My Photoshop 7 again. The setup.exe file seems dead. The CD looks fine.
I reinstalled a fresh version of Win. XP Pro Sp3 and it wiped out several of my programs so I've been re-installing them. Of course I lost the registry and have to build a new one by reinstalling my programs. But my Photoshop 7 CD seems to have a dead setup.exe file and it will not respond as it used to. I've tried everything including disabling virus program. I don't know what else to do. Maybe I need a new setup.exe file but I have no idea where I could get one.
Yes, I do have a registered product. Can anyone help me?
    Thanks, Judi

Thank you so much for your suggestion R_Kelly.
Yes, I had tried copying the contents of the installation disk to both my external Seagate drive and right onto the C: drive, itself, but with no success.
But I just experienced a miracle and it installed like butter - to my utter amazement.  I will share my experience in case someone comes along with a similar problem and maybe my situation will help them.
When I installed the "rescue disk" to replace my entire OS on my laptop, the techs had given me some choices in options which I really didn't know how to choose from, and I was a professional IT person in the late 90's. That's where I got into trouble. What I wanted to do was just overwrite my Windows XP Pro SP3, like we could do back in the "old days" when computers were open-source and not all proprietary. When I selected to delete the current Windows partition to make room for the new installation, apparently it also deleted the registry and my computer had no knowledge of the programs I had installed and I had to reinstall just about everything.   I thought I was okay with that.
In the process of finally installing the new Windows OS, I was asked to give my computer a "name."  Well, I don't recall that I ever gave it a name before and there was no place for me to go to find out. So, I gave it a name "JudiLenova."  When I couldn't get my programs to run, I thought that maybe I had not only lost my Registry file but maybe whatever ini files I had left didn't recognize that name, so I changed it to "Judi," still not recalling what, if any, name I had given it before.  As I encountered problems with trying to install Photoshop, I looked at my systems directories and saw that there were equal files in two different pathways, one for each name. I wondered if maybe DOS, which can't make decisions, couldn't decide which path was the right one to find files I needed. I sure regretted not using the "repair" option on the rescue disk, but it was too late. I need this computer to operate using all of the tools I have installed on it.
I bought a powerful fixit program recommended by CNET to fix things and it found over 1400 problems, but still nothing fixed this problem.
One thing I had noticed is that sometimes when I would do a restart of the computer, the Windows Installer would suddenly show up to finish the Photoshop install, but then it would stop initializing because of the restart. (So close, and yet so far away!)  I knew the old system was long gone and stupidly I had deleted the full backup I had stored on the Seagate, so I looked at the "restore" option to see what setpoints there were to see if maybe I could roll back to an earlier time. The only restore point I had was for the day I had installed the rescue disk. I said "what the heck" and opted to roll it back. When I made that selection, I got the message that the major change would be that the computer name would be changed from "Judi" to "JudiLenova."  I thought that might solve some of my problem. Amazingly, it appears to have solved the Photoshop problem because I put the disk back into my D: drive and off she went without a hitch!
My hunch is that DOS couldn't find the Install Shield to enable the installation. Whatever the cause of the miracle, I'm grateful that I didn't toss my computer in the lake outside my window... but it sure was tempting.
Thank you again for your attempts to rescue me. I hope this helps the next guy who comes along.  Now I'm going to try to install all the rest of my beloved old Adobe programs and everything else.   Fingers crossed!
    Judi :-)

  • Microphone and creative inspire p580?

is it possible to use a mic with creative inspire p580 speakers pn the k7n2-delta-l?

You need to install the S-bracket, which probably came with your board. If not you will need to buy one seperately. Then, 2 of your speaker jacks go into the S-bracket leaving you with the mic slot free. I have K7N2 Delta ILSR and the same speakers and this method is what i use.

  • 5800 touch seems dead

    hello
I am the, until now, content owner of a 5800 xpressmusic phone, however, when i woke up this morning the touchscreen seemed dead, for lack of better term. I could tap it all i wanted it just didnt respond to it. So i decided to try and restart it... only to find out that it still didnt respond... or that i  sometimescould press it once and then it would freeze again. So any suggestions to what i could do? I have tried to remove the memorycard and start it up without it, with the same outcome.

this is typically a problem related with the touch screen HARDWARE, mainly caused because of humidity or free fall of the phone, but a free fall can't affect the touch screen that much as humidity. Don't even bother erasing your files for any of the memories don't even try to uninstall any application or hard reset, believe me at 99% it won't help you out. What you have to do now is to buy a new touch screen or if you still have a guaranty for your phone then go to nokia care.
    Let me know it.

  • Time Capsule seems dead

I found I had no WiFi this am.
No light showing on my Time Capsule.
I replaced the plug-fuse (3amp) with some of the same I had left around, could not guarantee they were all OK but none of them brought it back to life.
It would appear to be dead.
I have my Mac since early 2008, the initial TC died after 18 months (Whose didn't?), which would make this TC some 4 years on the go, can't complain.I guess,
Just wondering what's the smart thing to do, seems too good to bin it!
I certainly liked to go back the Airport Extreme route again with or without capsule as an EHD.
My main drive seems OK and I have it cloned with another utility on another drive.
I would prefer to be able to restore from Time Machine.
Sorry for meandering, I have had to reinstall an old Zyxel to keep the show on the road, more perspiration than inspiration, I'm afraid!
Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated.
    Thank you

The power supply is dead .. again.. the Gen1 and Gen2 have an issue.. and if you got 4 years then you did pretty well out of the second one.
The TC can be fixed.. There are a number of repairers who do this.. outside of the apple system, since apple will not touch them or supply parts.
    http://www.fackrell.me.uk/page3/page3.html
If you are a DIYer.. you can diy.. it is relatively simple.. IMHO to replace with an external power supply.
    https://sites.google.com/site/lapastenague/a-deconstruction-of-routers-and-modem s/apple-time-capsule-repair
There are several methods listed there. The easiest is to simply use the TC as a Airport Extreme and power the board from 5v hard wired to it.
This is horrible but really for $20 (15pound) you can buy a power supply 5v 3a nominal .. or 2a continuous and solder it directly to the board socket. Hard wire the whole thing. Just pull out the hard disk. And use it in a USB holder or use a long sata cable and plug that in.
Changing plugs over is possible.. snip them off the old power supply and dual voltages.
Anything is possible.. but to get it fixed will now cost you a goodly percentage of its value.. and it maybe simply time for a new one.
Oh, I should mention, do an ebay search for "Time Capsule power supply" international and you will find they sell brand new ones from Hong Kong..
They cost $55US. whatever that is in UK.. but you are delaying the problem. Hard disk is already 4years old.. and you are not fixing the main problem.. too b. hot for it to last.

  • Old macbook seems dead....bought new one...transfer my apps?

OK so my 2008 has these exact symptoms and no fix worked.
"So far I have tried removing the battery and AC, resetting the PRAM and the SMC per Apple's instructions here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1365
    No change to this behavior:
    1) When I open the cover, the sleep light goes dim. When I close the cover, the light goes bright.
    2) Built-in display and external display both remain black with no indication that they are getting a signal.
    3) No combination of key presses seems to affect anything.
    4) Pressing and holding power does turn the unit off, but when I turn it back on, DVD powers up and USB gets powered but otherwise behavior is the same."
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2769007
    So I bought new one:
    17-inch: 2.2 GHz
Is these any way I can transfer my apps (Photoshop, pro tools..etc..), from the dead one to the new one?

If the hard drive isn't dead then remove it and put it in an external enclosure. You should then be able to transfer your data using Migration Assistant.
If the drive is dead, however, then you are out of luck. You would need to send it to a data recovery service - very expensive.
Or you can restore your data from your backup.

  • Extracting DVD from seemingly dead mac mini

    Hi all,
I have a PPC mac mini, which now seems to have gone dead (if that is the correct word). From what I can see of how the mini 'doesn't' work, and comparing with posts in this forum and on the net, it is a case of a damaged HDD. Thus the mini won't boot from the HDD; to circumvent that i used the OS DVD to boot from, but now even that too is not working and the mini won't start at all. (have also tried everything else-reset PRAM, etc). I have come to the stage where I just want to chuck the mini in the trash, but don't want to lose the OS DVD (i think it is the Tiger upgrade DVD that is in the drive). Since the mini won't start, can anyone advise how i can extract the DVD in this situation. On the other hand, if someone has an idea of how to get the mini working again, that would be excellent.
(frankly, I don't really want to lose the mini, but don't seem to have any other option). I'm currently using a MacBook

One thing you can try: plug in a USB mouse (a Bluetooth mouse won't work), hold down the left mouse button, and start up the system. Keep holding down the mouse button and with luck, after a minute or so, it will eject the disk.
If that doesn't work, try this: restart the system and hold down the Command, Option, O and F keys and keep them down until you get the ">" prompt. If you can get to that prompt, type "eject CD" (without the quotation marks). If that will won't eject the disk, you'll have to get a technician to assist further.
As to getting the mini working, I don't know. If it's a damaged hard drive, that may be suppressing the boot as the mini keeps trying to mount the drive. Pulling the drive out would be the next step; if that is indeed the problem, the mini should then be able to boot from a CD. If so, you could then replace the hard drive. You can find a 2.5" PATA drive for under $50.00 US (and probably cheaper) if you shop around.
    Hope this helps.

  • Ipod 20g seems dead

i have the click wheel 20gb ipod, and can't seem to get it right. before i take it in, maybe someone can help
    it's dead
i have a sad ipod icon
it cycles from apple to sad ipod to the battery looking icon like when you have it plugged in and charging, except now it doesn't move like when its charging.
i tried reset, which gets the above, but doesn't start working, of course
i have the latest updater, but when i plug it into my computer, it's not recognized, so i can't even do a full restore
by the way, i can't get it into disk mode, not that i know why i wanted to do so
what i want then is to understand
    1. what's this icon i'm getting that's not on apples list
    2. how can i get it recognized so i can restore
or if i'm s.o.l and have to take it in for repair/replacement

you're telling me to open my ipod, unplug and plug back in, and that'll fix it? of course, i'm hoping for something less invasive first, especially since i'm still under waranty. more importantly, my problem doesn't seem the same as what was going on with the one in that post, so i'm concerned that i open it up, and wind up back where i started. thoughts?

  • New iPhone 3G, one external speaker is seems dead.

I bought an iPhone 3G about 2 days ago and noticed that one of the external speakers seems to be dead. The phone sounds loud enough; but when I put my finger over the working speaker, the speaker that I suspect is dead makes absolutely no sound.
Are there any tests I can do to try and remedy this?

Hello! Welcome to Apple Discussions. Actually, you can feel a little better about this, as the "speaker" you are referring to is actually a microphone.
You can refer to the iPhone User Guide (http://manuals.info.apple.com/enUS/iPhone_UserGuide.pdf - page 20) for additional information regarding the external features of the iPhone 3G.
Thanks! Hope you enjoy your iPhone 3G as much as I have.

  • Inspire P580 with SB live

I'm running a SB live sound card with the inspire 5.1 P580 speaker system.
The 5.1 works from a DVD. However when playing mp3s its only working on the left channel (front & rear)
any suggestions ? i.ve checked all the settings and they are all set to centre.
    thanks

It sounds to me like your SBLi've Value _doesn't_ support 5., and you're trying to use its digital out (only) jack as a center/sub jack. A big clue is the color of the digital jack furthest from the gameport connector. Pre-5. (4-channel) cards have a dedicated digital jack (which is also 4-channel) coded yellow. 5. SBLi've cards have this jack switched according to the "Digital Output Only" setting between analog center/sub and digital front/rear, coded orange.

  • MacBook Pro 15" (late 2008) seems dead. Faulty product?

    Hello,
I am actually not very happy right now. My MBP died yesterday morning. I closed the lid the night before, like I have been doing for 1,5 years, and the next day, I opened it and it stayed black. I heard the HDD boot up, I even added a CD to test if my keyboard was still reacting. Nothing seemed more true.
That's where the problem started. I was (and am still) getting annoyed with this. Since I'm quite sure Apple laptops, with or without warranty, should survive 1,5 years of normal yet intensive use. I think we're dealing with a faulty product here. Apple's procedures, which I am happily following, require an investigation which seem to cost me 80 euros. I've called with Apple Support and they promised me a free investigation (probably just to tell me that the Logic board is dead, which costs 800 euros if I'm correct...). Today, I tried to bring it to a service point but was told that they couldn't promise me that the research would be free... So I kept the laptop, I'm not willing to take that risk just now, and called back. Angry.
Now I have been postponed to monday, because the supervisor wasn't there.
What's your take on this? I do not feel I am being treated correctly. Anyone have any pointers or experiences that kind of match this? How did you solve this? Talk please.
    Yours faithfully,
    Bjorn Schijff

eww, I'd very nearly classify my MBP as 1.5 years old. I got it in early November 2008, very close to 16 months ago. In fact, I think it will be 16 months ago tomorrow.
Anyway, I think it's likely that our poster here may have a unibody MBP. Bjorn, does your MBP look like the ones at http://www.apple.com/macbookpro ? Or does it have an all-silver keyboard?
If it does not look like the current generation, then you have an older, non-unibody MBP. In that case, your problem may be covered under the special circumstances surrounding the 8600M GT graphics card in that generation of MBPs.
If it does look like the current generation, then I'm afraid you may be on the hook for the repairs. But, have you tried something simple like an SMC/PRAM reset?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
There is unfortunately nothing we can do if the computer fails after 1.5 years and you do not have Applecare. It is the exact same thing as with any other electronic product. If the product fails after the warranty period ends, well, sometimes it is just bad luck. I think your comments about faulty products and such are misfounded. There are hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of MBPs or Powerbooks out there that go (and have gone) 10+ years without any problems. Some do not. It is just the nature of anything electronic we buy right now.
