Inspire T5900 subwoofer dead

Hi,
i bought Inspire T5900 today. I connected it to my Audigy 2ZS and ... every speaker works (and i actually like the sound), but there's just no subwoofer and no bass. I reinstalled audigy2zs's software and drivers, d/led latest webupdate and still nothing. I switched all the input cables, tried my older audigy card... anything i tried, woofer just remains totally silent.
Can anyone help me and tell what to check for or it's definitely RMA and i should not waste my own time tinkering with cables/audiocards so on?

The only thing I can think of is to play material that is very bass heavy and see if you can hear anything from the subwoofer. I think the crossover is around 25-50Hz, so you shouldn't have any trouble making the subwoofer play. If you can, play some DVD movies through your computer. DVDs have a separate track just for Low-Frequency Effects (LFE channel), so that should get your subwoofer giong if it works. If you don't have a DVD software player, then you can use Media Player Classic and have it decode Dolby and DTS signals (search Google for it).
If none of those work, then the subwoofer would seem to be dead.

  • HELP!!! Inspire T5900 problem

Hi guys! I have a Inspire T5900 connected to my Sound Blaster Audigy 4 soundcard. The problem is, when I test my speakers in the THX software console, the rear left speaker's sound seem to be coming from the subwoofer. Whenever I reinstall or repair the drivers, it works for a short time but then after a while, the rear left sound comes from the subwoofer and rear left speaker itself stops working. Any idea what's wrong? Driver issue or its the subwoofer's problem?
    Thanks in advance

I just realized it has something to do with the connection of the control switch (that turns on the power and allow connection of headphones and aux) to the subwoofer. It seems if I pull it out and reconnect, the rear left speakers work temporarily. I'm guessing, the moment the connection gets physically affected, it switches the rear speakers the to the subwoofer. Any ideas whats going on?

  • Speedlink Medusa 5.1 + Inspire T5900

    Hi,
i recently discovered a problem regarding my sound system setup.
I use an Audigy 2 ZS Soundcard to which the amplifier box of the Medusa 5.1 Headset is connected, the Inspire T5900 is connected to the Output of the amplifier box. Thats where the Problem occurs. The front channels of the Speaker System get combined.
Everything is set up and installed correctly. When the speakers are connected to the sound card directly, everything works fine. As soon as I loop them through the amplifier box, the front channels get messed up.
Has anybody experienced similar Problems and knows a fix? I only read about muffled sound or channels missing completely but nothing about channels getting combined.

it sounds like a problem with your amps.
..since it work fine with the sound card and speaker when it's connected directly.

  • Msi mega 180 and Inspire T5900

I have an MSI Mega 80 compute which has 5.1 output but my Inspire T5900 has three input. How can I make this work to get 5.1 on my T5900 speakers? Do I need the decoder too?
    thanks

You will have to check the manual for your onboard audio to properly configure it with the speaker.

  • Inspire A200 subwoofer not working

    Hi,
I just recently bought the Creative Inspire A200 speakers (2.1) a few days ago. The subwoofer seemed to be working fine earlier but now no bass or sound is coming out. Basically it isn't making any sound at all. Sounds come out from my two speakers but the subwoofer isn't producing any sounds. I've tried unplugging/plugging it back and I know that everything is plugged in properly. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

    Hi cotnightjoe,
Sorry no answer - I got the same problem. Tried all jacks with my ipod, which showed up the centre speaker as muffled.
Can someone please provide some ideas?
    Thanks

  • DTS support with audigy 2 zs and inspire t5900

Can i have dts and dd audio with inspire 5.1 5200 or t5900 and audigy 2 zs ?
At link (http://www.creaf.com/speakers/source...rt-Speaker.pdf) inspire 5.1 5200 has no dts support with audigy 2 zs ...

    sussie,
Yes. The Audigy 2 ZS sound card support DTS and Dolby Digital 5.1 decoding so it will work with the speaker.

  • Inspire T5900 Sound Problems

    Hi
I have a problem with my T5900 speaker system, but cannot find any threads that list this product. I have this connected to my PC through a Sound Blaster Xi-F card. We use an ION Profile Pro vinyl record decks to play the records and also to convert to mp3. Recently we cannot turn the volume up without the sound running away louder and distorted without touching the volume control. What do you think may be the cause. We have used the ION quite a lot without problems before.
If anyone has had a similar problem or can suggest a solution please advise.
    Regards

Well.. I tried that a dozen times when it first happend.
I think I am just going to buy a whole new setup... tech support is telling me that I either need to send it to them for fixing, which costs a fee because I am no longer with in the warranty period.
I think I would rather keep the speakers and stuff for a back up to the new one I am going to buy!
I found the same setup at Walmart for much cheaper, but I will have to order it as I doubt it is something that is in stock up here in Alaska..at least at the one store I called closest to me.
Anywho, thanks for the post, appreciate it.
    D out

My speaker system was working excellent ... but i have a problem with my subwoofer since 4 days ago ... it starts an uproar? when i open volume more than half of it ... what can i do ?

  • Creative Inspire T6200 Subwoofer Problem

    Hi,
I am using Creative T6200 speaker set for one weeks and I have a subwoofer problem.
    The problem definition:
-Nearly no sound from subwoofer (you hear it only when you close your ear on it)
-I didn't experienced or noticed the problem since yesterday. Yesterday while I was listening music on Winamp, the subwoofer sound suddenly disappeared. From that moment on, I was only able to hear the subwoofer two times but then it's sound disappeared again.
System specs and What I have done to solve:
-I have Vista 32 bit, Sound Blaster Live! 24 Bit, also another sound card (Realtek) embedded on my Asus motherboard, but this sound card is disabled from Bios.
-I am using the latest drivers.
-I tried various media players and some computer games but no change.
-This time I disable the SB Live!, and enable the Realtek sound card, but no change still.
-I had an old Philips 5.1 speaker system. When I plug it on, it's subwoofer works fine and loud, but when I plug T6200, it's doesn't!
Do you have any recommendation? I can't tell the problem is software or the hardware, maybe you can help me.
    Thanks...

I also have these speakers, but haven't had any problems so far.
    You could:
    - check if every cable is connected firmly to the subwoofer.
    - check your soundcard/media player settings: maybe the lower end of the equalizer has been killed, being the reason no sound comess from your sub.

  • Inspire 6700 Subwoofer failure.

Due to what seems to be a common defect in this subwoofer, my speakers are now not working.
I have approached Creative support by email but they have not replied as yet.
I also went to my local electronics retail / repair shop, but they are unwilling to repair the circuitry.
It is the same fault as the link below:
    http://uk.europe.creative.com/suppor...asp?thre=53427
I have a bit of electronics knowledge but would be grateful if someone could post a picture of thier subwoofer circuit board, as i need details of the resistors, transistors and capacitor that have blown.
Heres the link to my picture:
    http://www.williamwallace.f2s.com/circuit.htm
Resistors R0, R and R2 have blown on mine.
    Transistors Q2, Q3 and Q5 have blown.
    And Capacitor C has blown.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just had a reply from Creative. They are sending out a replacement, and I got an apology for the delay in the replying.
I wasnt expecting that. Normally you would get the old "nothing we can do about it" reply. Just shows you why Creative are so popular, great customer support.
    Thanks Creative.

  • Inspire T5900 blown up!

    Hi everyone!
I hope someone can help me
My T5900 is blown up :P
    I must replace:
4 transistors(which I can replace without problems thanks to previous posts found in this forum )
    zener (ZD)
    4 resistors (R95,R89,R88,R94)
I'm not sure 'bout the values for resistors, because they are completly burned. For R95 and R89 it seems something like BLUE GREEN GOLD GOLD...
For the zener I have no idea on which type I can use to replece it....
Can someone give me some infos/confirmation about these components, please?
    Thank you very very much

I live in Italy, the board was bought from a well known online retailer, and it was less than two years old when I contacted the shop. I have to pay express delivery to have it delivered to them, then they examine the board and if they think it's my fault, I'm bound to pay for their work diagnosing the problem and then again to have it shipped back to me. I also contacted MSI customer support about it, but they replied the shop is in charge for RMA.
Too bad, especially because the global warranty on their site features free on-site pick up for mainboardsĀ
The last time I had to RMA a mainboard was about ten years ago: it was an Asus, fried because of a power spike. There was a service point near me, so I went there and I was told that if there are blown up components on the board, it's either my fault or something not covered. So I don't like the idea of paying good money to hear this story again.

It's a SMD fuse - Probably for the firewire connector's power supply. Perhaps you accidently made a short with the case on the underside.
Except for the firewire port not receiving power supply anymore everything else should work fine.
The board works fine for me, but high-end 939 boards are becoming hard to find, so this is probably the time to buy another one if needed. However, if it's only matter of firewire not working, I couldn't care less!
