Inspire T6160; no 5.1

So, I recently just got my new 5.1 channel audio sound system. The problem is that only three of my speakers work not including the sub woofer. I called Velocity Micro (the company where I brought the computer from) and they told me to update my Realtek HD Audio drivers. I have not yet done this but I do not believe this is the problem. I am not plugged into a separate sound card. I am using my integrated sound card built into my PC. Before I only had 2 speakers working but after switching two connections around I managed 3 speakers BUT two speakers do not work. ALL SPEAKERS DO WORK WHEN DOING AUDIO TESTING BUT WHEN PLAYING GAMES, VIDEOS or ANYTHING ELSE IT DOES NOT PRODUCE 5.1 SOUND. All what I hear in the other 2 speakers is nothingness. I can hear a hiss so I know they are on but no sound is being put through the speaker. Thanks.

Is this happening because I do not have a Creative Labs soundcard? My PC specs say it supports up to 7.1 audio.

  • X-Fi Titanium and Inspire T6160

    Hi,
i've got a X-Fi Titanium in my pc running with Windows 7 Prof 64 Bit. Now I want to buy the soundsystem Inspire T660. Which cable do I need to connect those two components? Is this cable already in the T660-Package included?

The 3:4 is what he has with those speakers, the 4:4 is not to be had and it is more to do with how many poles some of the jacks have!
This works to give you 7.1:
    Creative 7.1 Speakers 4-4 From -4-3 Cable.jpg
Get a separate 3.5mm stereo jack to jack cable (the jacks cannot be too thick/heavy bodied or you bend other jacks as sockets on the soundcard are close together and you get aloud buzzing from speakers when they are powered on even wit no music playing).

I conclude that I cannot use any 5.1 Computer Speaker sets that go with my Macbook Pro 13 and get a real Dolby sound, right?
"Computer speakers" Basically no. They mosty are either stereo analog (for music playback) or 5.1 gaming PC speakers that are married to a 5.1 sound card for PC towers.
You would have to have a stereo reciever and 5.1 speakers that can accept:
    1: Toslink optical inputs
    2: Decode Dolby Surround Sound
3: The media your playing back must have a Dolby sound option.
Most 5.1 computer speaker setups are for gaming PC towers and takes a sound card that does the processing for each channel, has three analog wires
Wire 1: Left and Right front channels
Wire 2: Left and Right rear channels
Wire 3: Subwoofer and center, common ground (returns all the used electrons to complete the loop)
Your Mac has none of these, it's just a stereo analog, 2.0, a left and right channel, common ground (three sections on the plug)
So no you can't use a PC based 5.1 system on a Mac, unless you bridge the first two wires either with adapters or splicing the cables. Then it's not true surround sound, just two stereo channels that fills the room with sound.
With true surround sound, you can hear people creep up behind you, bullets whizz by your face, planes flying past overhead. It's a more immersive experinece.
So unless the "computer 5.1 speakers" has it's own Toslink optical inputs and decodes Dolby (and other) surround sound formats, has a built in amplifier to power speakers, then no. As most 5.1 comptuer speakers are designed for PC 3D gaming, thus inexpensive.
The Mac market for 3D gaming is rather small, tiny in fact. I haven't seen any "computer speaker" setup with the required stuff to playback true suround sound.
Mac's are used for music and video production, that's why they have the better optical ports.
Your just going to have to buy a home theater system to playback Dolby 5.1

  • Creative doesnt sell 7.1 Speaker Systems anymore?

Not that my current speaker system was even intended for 7.1 Setup; I sitll use it for 5.1
I cannot find any 7.1 speaker systems, Creative is only selling one 5.1: Inspire T6160; I am using currently the Inspire: 7800
I think my volume control is becoming defective so I thought of finding something equivelant if not better but I'm not having any luck.
And I dont think it might be a big deal but my 7800 gives me 8 watts per channel I think; T6160 gives me 6watts per. And the subwoofer gives 24 watts vs 20 watts with 6160
But does anyone own this 6160? Think its worth it? Like I said the 7800 is a 7.1 Speaker Setup; and the 6160 is only a 5.1; again it doesnt matter to me except the watts I listed above.
Is creative gonna come out with a new set of speakers soon?
    Thanks

I have bought today the Creative Inspire T7800 - T7900 use the subwoofer with my Creative Gigaworks S750 - 7 sat speakers. It is working well.

  • Connecting 5.1 home theater

    Hi,
I have recently purchased one touchsmart 610-1110 as well as one creative inspire T6160 which is a 5.1 home theater system. Now i need some suggestions how to make a connection in between these two.Customer care alreday told i can't connect these two as the 5.1 has three inputs ( C/sub,L/R & LS/RS) whereas the touchsmart  has got only two out (one sub and one audio out ) with one microphone and one headphone I/O but, as per the product specifications it supports 5.1(Integrated IDT 92HD89D) so i am still hopeful of conneting these two.The touch smart has got 4 jack sensing covering  its 4 I/O port for audio( sub, audio out, microphoe & headphone). It has got on-board hp beats audio(2.1).

    Hello sub_rama:
Have you look at usb pinnicle connector? This is a usb connector device that connects to VCR ,TV, camras and audio devices. You might want to check it and see if these connections are what you are looking for. http://www.pinnaclesys.com/PublicSite/us/Products/Consumer+Products/Home+Video/Studio+Family/Studio+... This may work. frrw

  • Only two work

i have just a new computer with a great soundcard and got a set of the inspire T6160 and after setting them up and trying to play music, games and movies on my computer discoverd only the ones pluged into the 2 front slots worked. how can i get it so all five speakers work at once?

    Peterguy3,
Are you using a Creative sound card? You might want to enable the CMSS feature. Please note that music files such as MP3 songs and CDs are in stereo format, that means you will only get sound from the 2 front speakers.

  • Power Mac G5 tower: 5.1 audio system

I've just purchased a Creative Inspire T6160 audio system and in my naiveté didn't think to check how it might connect to my, 2004 model, G5 tower. The spec. of which is two Optical Digital ports, one In and one Out and two Audio line ports, one In and one Out. Now, of course, my 2.1 stereo system plugged into the Audio line-out port but the new 5.1 sound system has three jacks, lime-green, black and orange. The user instructions show they plug into a 5.1 sound card, either internal (PCI card) or external.
I tried fitting a new PCI wireless recently which failed to work - don't know whether it was me or the part - so I feel the better route would be the external USB 5.1 card but don't really know whether that is the best option. I'm trying to avoid compromising the sound, but, equally can't run to expensive solutions.
I've also seen other options – which I don't understand using a Minijack to TOSLink cable or adapter?
All suggestions welcome, though, but please be patient with me as you are dealing with a technical moron!
    Regards,
    Michael

John, I'm afraid I'm not going to be much help, here. My technical knowledge, limited as it is anyway, has run out. However, a few thoughts:
I'm wondering what makes you think that the Zalman product you've got will work with this CM6206 enabler? Is it that you've got a CD driver with a CM6206 for the Windows version? I say this, because the only Zalman product Dr Lex actually mentions is the ZM-RS6F (USB) in their headphones range.
And – forgive me here, because I'm sure you've done it – but you've checked that all other USB devices work okay with the same USB socket? It hasn't failed or anything?
Also, you haven't Software Updated any new OS X versions, such as security updates, updates to Java or Quicktime Player. I performed one very recently and on reboot lost my USB sound card (back again now). Oddly enough, it didn't even seem like it had installed anything because when I select Software Update three items appear awaiting installation?
Finally, as you suggest, it could simply be that it works better with the PPC chip than the Intel one. You could buy the actual one that Dr Lex shows in his photograph from Amazon (like me) or eBay (like him). It's about £15 (20–25 bucks).
    Good luck,
    Michael

  • My Sound Blaster Zx issues

Other than the problems I am about to write, it has been an amazing gaming experience with all the games I've played. I've been using Sound Blasters since the ISA 64 (DOS era) times. I hope for the best for Creative.
Second of all, I am using the latest drivers from the website and after the list of problems you'll see my full system specs I copied from archive sorry for unnecessary details of the system.
Too much noise when I am using the headset it's very annoying too much to handle sometimes. Scrolling up and down the web pages make noise. I don't know what causes this issue. It may be that the shielding on the headset's cables is too bad (it may be since it's leaking the speakers to mic. People can hear what I am listening to even if the mic is disabled on the headset). There is the same noise when it's on speakers too but I cannot verify whether it's the cables that are picking the noise or the card. In order to solve this issue I connect the Sound Blaster Zx to the bottom of the motherboard where there is a PCIe 16x. This eliminates most of the noise but creates so many other problems I am not even going to talk about since Creative may not have designed this card's controller to work on PCIe 16x bus. All the problems exist when it's connected to 1x PCIe and 16x problems are not listed below.
Frequently upon restart, it asks me too choose the sound card for PRO STUDIO and Sound Blaster Speaker Setup separately. The names are followed by numbers. ex: 2 - Sound Blaster, 3 - Sound Blaster
Surround left is a lot louder than surround right speaker. I have to adjust it's dBs on the Speaker Level panel. First, I thought this could be an issue with the T6160 box, but I have a 5.1 surround headset and I feel the same to some degree when I'm using it. I play Battlefield 3 usually and it's very noticeable if you want to try.
CrystalVoice Focus doesn't work at all other than making the mic stereo. You can hear which direction sound is coming from, but it doesn't limit the angle. It still captures everything. I need it to capture only my voice not the surroundings outside the angle.
This is not a terrible issue: Sound Blaster does a fantastic job on canceling the sound coming from the speakers if that sound was processed digitally. Without any effect on the voice (mic) it fails to cancel the echo and creates a 2 - 3 degree loop (then it drops)
When all the five jacks are connected upon restart sometimes it doesn't stay with the last chosen settings (5.1 speakers), it automatically switches to headphones.
Sometimes channels get all mixed. Either have to restart or switch between headphones and speakers
Again, I'm posting full specs since I heard other peripherals may be the reason to some problems.

    Hello, KaziQ.
I can't say about headset, my microphone and headphones are separate and they are working fine.
I had the same problem with 2- sound blaster, 3- sound blaster, but it was on old buggy system, I made a fresh install of Windows 7, now I think this problem is gone. But it's smth related to Creative drivers.
I have no problems with volume of channels, seems all good, right-left, both rear, etc.
As for CrystalVoice- all the same. It's making microphone Stereo, somehow, I think, it should help with angles u are speaking into it, but i don't know how, coz this feature seems kinda useless to me. On other hand, I can hear myself and people can hear me perfectly, using this small mic that came with Z soundcard.
As for switching to headphones- yes, I had this issue on old system. Reinstalled from scratch Windows (formatted drive C) and drivers. Problem is gone for now.
And I never got mixed channels, never! Even on old system.
But I advise to do the same... try clean installation...
    And good luck. )

  • Using 5.1 surround sound speaker set with my laptop

    1. HP Pavilion DV6-6150EW QA944EA
    2. Windows 7 Profesional 64 bit
    This is my laptop.
I want to buy a set of 5.1 surround sounds speakers (most likely some cheap and popular creative inspire Inspire T6160).
My question is will they work with my laptop? Ill have to just plug cable from that speaker set into my 3.5mm jack socket on the left side of laptop (where i usually plug in headphones) and it will work?
Or this laptop dont have 5.1 sound?
I didnt found what sound card it has, all i found is that its beats audio and IDT High Definition audio codec (driver date: 2012-03-23, driver version 6.10.6395.0).
I would appreciate help sice i dont want to find out that if i buy speakers they wont work (or only 2 speakers will work).

    Hey there,
I would recommend using one of these USB audio processors: http://goo.gl/5z9Gm
This is just the first one I found so do you research to see which one fits your needs the best. I looked at your laptops spec's and could not tell if you had any digital output connectors. HDMI will also transfer digital audio, it just depends on what your trying to accomplish.
    Hope this helps!
    Sean

  • Speakers similar to Inspire P380

I've been using Inspire P380 for ~11 years, and now I need a replacement since the sound became weaker and lost details. Customer support told me that P380 didn't have a successor, so I was wondering if anyone who has owned them could tell me which current models have a sound quality comparable to it. I don't mean in terms of specs only (since one can find those easily), but in terms of sound quality, warmth, detail and so on. Because, at least for my standards and in the price range, P380 had a nice, clear sound, and I don't want a downgrade.
There aren't many creative speakers available where I live (there's mostly logitech, and I think creative speakers have a nicer sound), so I'm kinda limited with the choices, and the only way I can buy them is to order them online. Meaning, I can't test the sound until I buy them. I managed to find Inspire T3130 (no T3300) and the wired version of Inspire S2, I think those fall within a similar price range.
I saw T6160 once in a store (which is like T3130, right?), and compared to my P380 the satellites seemed...cheaper, and of lower quality. But that's just visually. I've seen S2 only on pictures. I always keep the sub on minimum, which is why I'm considering 2.0 speakers too. Sadly T20 aren't available anywhere and won't be, T40 are a little too expensive, but I managed to find T10. So they're an option too.
I'd be really grateful if anyone could help me. Thanks in advance in anyone answers.

    Hi Tyra,
You may have already purchased your speakers. But just in case, here are a few tips on your selection:
-> From the speakers you mentioned, these (Inspire T3130, T10, and S2) can actually be seen on our main website. You can do a compare and see some of the dimensions/specifications that can help you with your decision (Link below).
-> At the end of the day, it depends on what type of user you are for these speakers. If you are on-the-go, then you should opt for the new line of portable speakers that allow wireless connections (EX: Creative Airwave). However, if you are going for the price range of the P380 with a similar speaker setup (2.1), then the speakers you have mentioned (you may want to check out the SBS A250 as well, if available) are the ones to choose from.
-> Unfortunately, the best way of testing on your end probably would be searching through google for product reviews for these speakers.

  • Availability of Inspire P580 PSU in the US?

    Hi,
I'll shortly be moving from the UK to the US, and I own a UK-bought Inspire P580 5.1 speaker set. Due to the voltage difference (220/240V vs 110/120V) I'd need a new, US-sourced 110V PSU in order to use the speakers in the US.
Is it possible to buy a compatible PSU from Creative Labs US? Are there any third-party PSUs I could use instead?
    TA

If it's an external power supply. The answer is YES!

  • Voltage question for Inspire 5200 5.1 Speakers

Hi, I'm new to the forum, so I'm not sure if this question has been answered in the past, but...
I just moved back States-side after living in Pakistan for about 6 months, and I brought my Pakistan-bought Inspire 5200 speakers. I don't know if I should buy a voltage converter or whatever.
On the AC adaptor, it says "PRL. :230V~50Hz 320 mA... SEC. : 2V ~ 4.2A". I read up a little on this stuff, and, unless I'm mistaken, in Pakistan, the voltage is 220V and 50Hz, while in the US, its 110V and 60Hz.
Is it safe to use the speakers here WITHOUT a voltage converter or a step-down transformer?
If it isn't safe, then what specific things do I need to pick up from Radioshack to make sure my speakers work and don't short-circuit or fry?
    Thanks.

If you use the right step down transformer than it's perfectly safe. The problem is, step down transformer worsen the sound a lot unless you use the very expensi've one. But if you can't hear the different than it's good then, trust your own ear anyway. I think the best way is to change the adaptor.

  • MacPro + Inspire 1394 = Kernel Panic

    Hello there,
I'm experiencing an issue with a Mac Pro (2.66 GHz) running Leopard (Mac OS X 10.5.1) and the Inspire 1394 box (it's an external sound card that you connect to your Mac with a FireWire 400 cable). Each time I plug it into the Mac Pro, it produces a Kernel Panic. But if you shut the computer down, plug the Inspire box and restart the Mac, nothing bad happens.
I'm looking for a fix though, because, as I remember, FireWire is ment to be plug & play, not shutdown, plug, restart and finally play. As I was still running Tiger, there was no Kernel Panic.
Also note that there's no specific driver needed for using the Inspire 1394, as it's compatible with Core Audio.
    Here's the Kernel Panic Report:

I hope that Apple will fix this soon (in 10.5.2 please ?).

Yep, not consistently, but happens enough to cause major problems. It happened almost right out of the box, as soon as I finished installing Logic 8, crash... Brought my firepod directly to presonus, had some sort of bad chip which they replaced. Thought that would totally fix it, not as many panics but it is still there.
It does seem to be mostly associated with wake from sleep, but not always as some of the other threads have pointed out.
This has never happened with my powerbook, running logic since 2005.

  • Connecting Inspire T7700 to Audigy 2 NX + Louder bass at a certain frequency

    Hello,
I wasn't sure if this should go to the soundcard forums instead.
In the Inspire T7700's box there was a cable that had 4 stereo connections on each side, and I used that to connect the card to the speakers. I have the upmix on the speakers set to none (7.1). Everything works fine except for one detail: I have no control over the subwoofer when playing stereo sources via CMSS. For instance, "subwoofer volume" in the advanced volume mixer has no effect, as well as Bass Redirection (although I admit I don't know what that is). The subwoofer simply seems to somehow combine whatever goes to other 7 speakers. Is this normal? Despite the upmixing, I can control every single sattelite independently, but not the sub?! In addition, turning off CMSS should normally cause only the front speakers to work (without the center); instead, I get the two front speakers AND the subwoofer. When using a true surround source however (e.g. the sample AudioDVD, which by the way has no side channels) the subwoofer volume setting has an effect (although very limited). Also, when trying the Channel and Noise buttons to test speaker settings, they all behave as expected; the sub is independent. So is the T7700's sub really getting an independent channel, and if yes, why is CMSS not taking advantage of it's
Also, is it normal for the subwoofer to sound much louder at a certain frequency? It really is annoying because it is painful to my years, and to avoid it I need to turn bass down by a lot, losing the nice bass on other frequencies...
Other than those two problems, I love both the card and the speakers! Now if only the former had Linux support too...
    Thanks!

I worked around these problems by getting a PCI Audigy 2 and using the kX drivers (http://kxproject.lugosoft.com/). If going to PCI is an option for you, it's worth it. (The drivers do not support USB devices.) I'll never use creative software again. And if these kX drivers didn't exist, I would have no use for their hardware either.

  • Inspire (creative) P7800 7.1 and Vista

Ok so i?just bought?the creative inspire p7800 7. surround speaker system. I have windows VISTA-32 I already know there is no driver for it yet, but I was just wondering if anyone could tell me when its release date is? can i go somewhere to request it,i know it wouldnt make much of a difference, but always counts somewhere. Also is there maybe some other way i can get my system working? right now I only have?the front 3 working. So any input would be nice thank you ?

No way buddy, I've an Inspire P7800 too, if you see de miniplugs conectors there's one of them that isn't stereo, there're 3 black lines into the connector (creative's "special" connector) that only works with a creative sound card... but I worst cases... you many be able to hear 6 channels instead 4... I recommend you to downalod lastest Sigmatel audio from their website http://www.sigmatel.com/products/pcaudio/ If it isn't work, and you have to buy and audio card... DONT BUY CREATIVE!!!!!! send ur bucks in an AUZENTECH X-meridian 7. that really works in vista, I own an Audigy SE (VISTA READY sticker on box)... and I have year waiting for vista drivers... dont waste ur time buddy and good luck!
