Inspiron 2305 All In One unit

Has anyone tried to edit the asset field for this model?
I've spoke with 3 different Dell techs and each solution they gave me  failed. One tech spoke with his supervisor and they said the motherboard was bad. I tried the asset.com utility on a new in box unit and received the same "Asset/Service tag is not supported on this model".
Dell support really needs to step up and test their solutions before they offer a solution.
-Marcos

I worked with an upper level Dell tech that worked with his engineers. They were able to find/create an Asset utility for that works on the AIO 2305s. If anyone else is looking for it, I can pass it along. Otherwise elevate, elevate, elevate to your Dell rep for results.

I can print just fine to the Canon ImageClass D680 all-in-one unit from an Internet Explorer browser. Firefox crashes every time. The printer is connected to a Dell Optiplex 755 SFF via USB A-B std printer cable, on a WXP O.S. Using the latest release of Firefox, downloaded on 6/23, but hasn't worked in 3 or 4 months. There were NO add-ons when tested on 6/23.

Guigs2, thanks for the response. Yes, I can save the content of the webpage, then copy to another program for printing, but the drill within FF was much easier & direct (of course). Do you expect a fix for the identified bug, or is this the end of the road? If/when there should ever be a fix, how will I know of it? Thanks again.

  • Which wireless all in one printers work best with ipad 4

Please help me decide which wireless all in one printer works best with the ipad 4.  I am looking for better photo printing quality, but not the very best.  I am concerned mainly with being able to set up the printer using only my ipad 4 and wireless router, as I do not own a PC with a cd/rom.  I am also interested in which brand of compatible printers is less expensive to buy ink and paper for.  I would prefer a more compact unit.  Thank you in advance for any advice.

These days I prefer Brother printers. They appear to have engineered their printers with AirPrint as well as OS X compatibility from the start, unlike certain others who appear to have included it as an afterthought.
Brother's models are inexpensive, their ink is also inexpensive and lasts a long time, and their photo quality is at least as good as anyone else's. They have a two year warranty and lifetime free technical support with people who understand Apple.
Read the reviews (Amazon for instance, but be sure to read user reviews on the various manufacturer's websites as well) and decide for yourself.

  • Anyone using a Laserjet All-In-One on an Intel Mac?

I just got an HP Laserjet 2820 all in one unit (scanner, printer, copier) for use with my MacBook Pro. My main reason for going with this model was the automatic document feeder (ADF) that allows me to put a stack of documents in and automatically create a multi-page pdf.
The problem I'm having is this: When I create pdf files, they are coming out too light. The only way to fix this is to scan all the pages of the document one at a time, adjust the contrast setting, and then scan all the pages again.
I also have a Canon Scanner (no ADF though) and it allows me to do a quick preview of a document (for contrast, etc.) and then saves these settings until I do a preview again. The result is that all subsequent pages use the optimized settings for that kind of document (pages of text with some figures) from then on.
The HP 2820 also doesn't seem to have any way to scan only part of an image (ie. a single picture on a full page). Am I missing something here?
I'm wondering if the device is not yet Intel compatible. The HP support department isn't any help.
    Help, please?!

Not that swift in the Apple world, I use a calibration puck for my screen and IT8 profiles for devices to calibrate my workflow on Windows PCs. Haven't done that YET on my Apples. What I can tell you is that the help files that show up are usually helpful in explaining how to use the utility. I noticed that when I did calibrate my screen on my iMac core duo, it wanted me to use the 1.8 standard Gamma. All my reference material and training states to use 2.2 and 6500 Kelvin for true calibration. That being said, I would only look at the HP device in the utility, make some changes, and see if it fixes your issues. If it doesn't, I'm sure there is a way to set everything back to default settings. If there isn't, just jot down where you are before making any changes. If you have calibrated your screen, the rest should be easier to adjust. If not, I feel you will be all over the board as far as settings for each device, as you don't have a standard appearance to work from when making adjustments. Good luck!

  • Printing with HP all-in-one connected to Airport Extreme with USB

We have an HP Photosmart 2610 all-in-one, an AirPort Extreme base station, and a G-5 MacIntosh running OS 10.4.8. We can print when the all-in-one unit is connected directly to the Mac with USB cable, however, we are unable to print when the USB cable is connected to the base station. What can you suggest?

    Which driver are you using?
According to HP must use drivers 6.3.4 or 7.0

  • Pros & Cons of a All In One Computer Vs a Desktop

My current system is a HP Pavilion a1616n  running Xp.
I will be up grading this year either to another desktop, but afer looking at the All-In-One computers I am thinking about going that way plus I am tight on space.
What are some of the pros and cons of the All-In-One computers if any
    Thanks
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Good Question! I shall try to answer as best as I can.
    Pros:
    1. Lightweight and simple. An all in one desktop can be pretty easily moved from one room to another and has a minimum amount of wiring. (often just a power plug and wireless keyboard and mouse)
    2. Touchscreen options. Many models now have a touch screen, which is just plain convient and cool.
    3. Space saving. No explaination needed here, it takes less room!
    4. Style. Let's face it, they look cool.
    Cons:
    1. Upgradability. What you see is what you get. Upgrades are limited to memory and hard drive. You generally cannot upgrade the motherboard/proccessor, etc.
    2. Heat. Running something high powered? There is little airspace inside the case. It's designed for people running daily tasks, not high end games or server applications, and cannot be upgraded to handle those.
    3. All-In-One issues: If something breaks, you can't just use a temporary solution while that part is fixed (borrowing someone's monitor, etc). The whole unit has to go back.
Conclusion: An all-in-one unit has the same pros and cons of a laptop, essentially, with the exeption of being less less portable and not requiring a battery. It's a laptop on a stand with a (typically) larger monitor, so a laptop might be a good alternative to an all-in-one if you don't mind the drawbacks. However, it feels more solid in your hands then a laptop and is perfect for an (only occasionally portable) enviornment, and since it's not likely to be moved you have to worry less about dropping it or replacing batteries overtime. Versus a desktop, a desktop unit is a perfect solution for the upgrader or one who wishes to customize which monitor they use, or wishes higher end (including server) applications. This is a generalization: Of course, there are higher end all-in-ones which can handle such applications, simply you cannot change/configure/upgrade an all-in-one to do so over time.
I hope this helps, and I'd be glad to clarify any points as needed.

Boy, does this story sound familiar.  After some research and considering the fact that good quality photos are important, we purchased the HP 3310 a little over 3 years ago.  This certainly was not the cheapest all-in-one unit available.  Thank God we purchased the extended warranty from Best Buy.  Roughly 7 months after purchase, we could no longer copy, scan or fax -- same message you received.  We returned the unit to Best Buy and they promptly replaced it with a new one.  We were offered as a replacement any printer of our choice up to the purchase price of the 3310. Second mistake:  we chose to replace the unit with another HP 3310.   Guess what -- a few days after expiration of our extended warranty, we received the same message again and could no longer copy, scan or fax.  As it was out of warranty by this time, we examined the unit carefully and found that the light carriage bar that scans was out of alignment and stuck there.  We removed the 2 screws holding the scanner bed and were able to squeeze a hand far enough under the glass to re-align the scanner bar.  It still would not work.  We thought it was broken and turned it off.  Much to our surprise, next time we turned it on, it worked...until, that is, we tried to use the reduce/enlarge function and it repeated the malfunction.  We have since determined that the reduce/enlarge function creates the problem.  As long as we do not use the reduce/enlarge function, the printer continues to copy, scan and fax. We are going to replace this printer, but there is an old saying..."Once a fool, shame on you; twice a fool, shame on me."  The replacement will surely not be an HP product.

  • Canon PIxma all-in-ones?

I have a friend who's just upgrading to a new iMac G5, and she has an older HP all-in-one unit. (Yes, I have told her and told her and told her about 1. all-in-ones and 2. HP, and she's had nothing but trouble, but…). Anyway, I figure the odds are overwhelming that she's not going to get the thing to work right with the new computer (it never did with the old one, so why should it now?), and she's dead set on an all-in-one. I was looking at the Canon Pixma 450 and 500 models. Anybody have any input on those, or on another good option for her?

  • Good All-in-One Leopard-Compatible Printer?

I'm going to replace my Canon i960 photo printer with a photo all-in-one unit. I want to start gaining some desk space back, as I'd be able to retire my scanner if I got an all in one.
I'm leaning towards an Epson RX680, as it's a photo printer that duplexes and prints directly onto printable CD/DVD media.
From what I can see, Epson's updated their drivers for this unit for Leopard, so I don't anticipate any problems with it.
I've kind of ruled HP out, as it sure doesn't seem like they're updating their drivers very quickly. (The Lightscribe media printing would be cool, though). Canon all in ones might be a consideration...but I don't think their U.S. models print to CD.
I'm using this unit for both photos and text (yeah, I know....that covers just about everything!).
Anyone have any suggestions for other units I ought to consider?

I have had it with HP. Order the LaserJet M3027MFP from them with assurances that it would work and software would come with it to perform all the advertised functions using Leopard. It didn't and after about 10 hours of frustration and support attempts, somebody finally said the software would be out shortly.
They sent a rep. to pick up the machine today. Any suggestions for a multifunction machine that will work with Leopard and not color. Small office, so it must be a quality copier also.

  • E93z All in One I want Audio playback through speakers and headphones at the same time

    Hi there,
As the subject line reads I am hoping to enable playback through both the headphone and internal speakers on the E93z All in One unit I have.
Is there is currently a way to do this with the Lenovo HD Audio software for the Realtek system? It detects the headphones and does the typical shut off of the internal speakers however no option to enable playback through both seems to exist.
Running Windows 7 Pro 32 bit.
I cannot enable stereo mix (by right clicking in the playback area of the sound settings in Windows) to try and come up with a work around.
I have tried re-installing the drivers and not luck with more options to do this.
I have tried un-installing the Lenovo HD audio software and still no luck using the vanilla Windows 7 software.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Well basically I want to hook in some external speakers via the headphones jack and the more speakers the better, I just figure if there's a way to have 4 speakers instead of just two it'd be cool, why let the internal speakers go to waste?
Do you know if plugging in headphones physically cuts off the internal speakers or if it's a software/driver thing?
    Thanks to all who've replied
I'm pretty sure it's all in the OS, since the level control is right at the top. You can actually customize sound profiles individually for headphones or the built-in speaker, or any other sound devices. You can also use Bluetooth headphones (or a headset) or USB output devices. As far as I know, only one can be selected (in System Preferences) even if multiple ones are plugged in.

Not going to happen the way you want it to.
When you add a gift card balance to the Apple ID, it's available for the Apple ID.
Probably best to create unique Apple ID's for each... this will also make things easier in the future as purchases are eternally tied to the Apple ID they were purchased with.

  • Lost 5750 All In One Disk.. Update Made Unit Inoperable

Hello. I have an old 5750 all in one. I run Vista home on my laptop that interfaces with the unit. Whenver hp wants to update the "Solution Center" software already loaded on my laptop, it requires the original CD. I dont have it anymore. I tried to click cancel and now the unit is completely inoperable. Not sure why it needs the CD. Its already loaded and very annoying that it requires it every time an update pops up on me. I wish it was somewhere online like everything else in this digital age, but I cannot find it anywhere.
Secondly, the unit has an error regarding a color print cartidge not being installed. I dont print color and never will with this device. I tried to clear the error message on the 5750, but can't. How do I clear that message?
Other than those two annoyances, it works fine. Thanks for your help.

    Hey @garymarchlewicz ,
Thanks a lot for the question, now lets get you an answer!
If you all HP Technical Phone Support or go online to HP Out of Warranty Support you can order a replacement CD.
If you are in Canada or US call 800 474 6836, or you can Contact HP Worldwide.
HP printers generally have a 1 year warranty from their purchase date, you can verify the warranty using the following link if you would like; warranty check.
HP software drivers are available on hp.com under "Support" and "Drivers and Downloads".
And you have to have all cartridges in the printer and they all need to have ink in them for maintenance reasons. So there are a few things that I have to let you know. No printer, HP or not can print only black that is an InkJet. The reason for this is because many people would print only black with their multi-colour printers and the ink wells for the coloured cartridges would dry out and never be usable. So whether you select black only or greyscale you are still going to be printing some colour in those printouts so that the printer will be able to print colour when you need it to.
If using ONLY black was what you were trying to get the instructions for, unfortunately that is not possible. If you want to print ONLY black i recommend looking into laser black only printers that are multi-function, black only printers. They don't use ink they using toner power cartridges that last a very long time but are more expensive. We have those options in our HP LaserJet line.
Hope this helps. Have a great day!
    I worked for HP.

Use this formula, starting in row 1 and copy down. Copy the result, use paste special to paste as Values over column A. Delete the formula.
