Instability (freezing) and crashing from Macbook Pro transferred over to brand New iMac 2013 i7.
I had a Macbook pro I installed some Plugin Demos (red giant and Filmconvert) a few days later one of my projects with multiple clips and lots of files in it crashes repeatedly after about 10 minutes of editing. on my older macbook pro it would freeze playback rendering me incapable of moving the head in the timeline. I would still be able to apply filters to a clip drag in a new clip etc however i would be doing it blind and I would not have the ability to move to a different part of the timeline (like the beginning or end). I contacted one of the techs and they blamed the plugins. we removed them and it seemed to work. however it didn't. on the same project it would continue to freeze after about 10 minutes of editing not at any specific place in the timeline but it would always freeze eventually. I already knew that my macbook was getting old so I invested in a new IMac 27 inches I7 Processor 8GB of ram and 4GB of GPU ram. i launch the same project in adobe premiere on this new computer and i run into the same issue. I attempted to reinstall and that made it worse. now after i ran into the same issue i was not even able to force quit the program. I restarted the computer and tried to run the program again but i still have the same issue. what do i do? is there something that i can do beyond uninstalling to reset whatever damage the 3rd party plugins did? is there something wrong with the particular project that I am working on that is causing the crash?
I echo the opinions above. The PC usually needs a fresh ground up install but the Mac doesn't. Just delete off anything you don't want any longer and enjoy your new iMac.

I have checked "sync contacts", when it does the sync it says it is syncing contacts, but the address book on the iPad remains empty. I tried checking the box under "advanced" that says to replace the contacts information on the iPad, sync again, same result—an empty address book on the iPad. Any suggestions?

I have a CC subscription and had it loaded on my Mac and my old MacBook pro. I bought a new macbook pro and turned off CC on my old laptop but when I try to load it on the new one it keeps saying I already have it activated on two devices. Help!

That is another problem not related to the Mac OS X version you are trying to use.
Three beeps at startup means you have a bad ram module in the computer. Did you install the ram or did it come from another owner this way? The first problem you need to solve is the bad ram.
When the iMac starts, go to the apple left side of the menu bar, About This Mac, More Info, System Report, Hardware, Memory and see what the report is on the memory...does the iMac report all memory modules that have been installed as OK or does it show bad memory? If there is not any information, you then need to remove the memory modules and restart one at a time to see which is bad.
On the bottom of the screen there should be a small door that you can remove with a small screw driver. You need to lay the iMac flat, disconnect the power cord, remove that small door and remove the memory modules. You can then put two in (if it has four) and see if it starts without the beeps. Do that with each module so you find out which is bad. Once you know the bad memory, you can buy a new module, just like the ones installed, so the iMac starts without the beeps.
Next, you cannot use a DVD for another computer for your iMac unless it is from one that is identical to yours. So, you need to talk to Apple and have them send the DVD for your particular iMac. -
I am trying to transfer photos, music, etc from my Power Mac G5 to my new iMac. The Power Mac is too old for the migration assistant to help. I have an old Firewire but it does not fit the new iMac. Any suggestions? If a Firewire is the best option which one do I need? Thanks.
You need a Firewire 800 to 400 adapter or cable or a external USB 2/3 drive (self powered) it can default to the old USB the G5 uses 1 or 2.

Apple tv lag and disconnecting from macbook pro
I have an apple TV connected to the projector in my room. I connect my macbook pro to the apple tv wirelessly (obviously). There is an airport in the hallway (maybe 20 yards from me), and I am on a network. I have videos downloaded from the internet on my computer that I want to show my students on the projector. Sometimes it works. However, more times than not, there is a lag, the video freezes (audio continues to play usually). Sometimes the apple tv just disconnects (which means reconnecting it and re-selecting my speaker -- total pain!). I need something reliable that I can count on to use with my classes! So far, Apple TV is not it.
Also, for some reason I cannot put a DVD in the drive and have it play on through apple TV to the projector. Something about not being able to change over display?
I could really use some help, I'm really frustrated. I teach K-5th, one after the other, and I have different curriculum for each -- it is hard to have enough back up when the apple tv does not work.

HT4623 How do I copy photo and music from MacBook Pro to Mini Ipad?
I have a MacBook Pro that has my collection of Photos and Music. I recently bought a Mini Ipad and wanted to copy/transfer some of my Photos and Music from the MacBook to the Mini Ipad. Have tried but cannot perform drag and drop since the Ipad is not showing up in the Finder app.
Looked into the Lightning to 300 cable (for my Iphone touch or Ipod) but the adapter has a female connector for the 300 and don't know how I can attach my Iphone or Ipod to transfer data with the other end of the cable is USB or AC .
ThanksThe iPad won't appear in Finder, you should be able to sync content by connecting it to your computer's iTunes -do you have iTunes installed on your Mac, and your music library in it ? You can add music to iTunes via File > Add To Library
With iTunes 11 on your Mac you can enable the left-hand sidebar via option-command-S. Then select the iPad on that left-hand sidebar and use the Music tab on the right-hand side of iTunes to select and sync your music to the iPad's Music app.

Similary to sync photos use the Photos tab on the right-hand side of iTunes. There is some info on this page. You will need to sync all the photos that you want on the iPad together in one go as only the most recent photo sync remains on the iPad - synced photos can't be deleted directly on the iPad, instead they are deleted by not including them in the next photo sync.
You can't transfer music from an iPod or iPhone to an iPad -
Connecting and viewing from macbook pro and tv - hardware in hand - how to do it?
Trying to connect my macbook pro (purchased 12/2011) to Sony TV. Have the mini display port to hdmi cable and plugged in from computer to tv hdmi. What do I do next to view computer items (Iphoto for example) on tv?
Go to settings-display and make sure that the tv is enabled as either mirror or a second display. Example here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5019. Also make sure your tv is set to the correct input.

Blocking iMessage and FaceTime from macbook pro
i just installed yosemite.
1) is there a way to COMPLETELY BLOCK iMessages from my iPhone from ever showing up on my macbook pro?
i noticed that when i go into iMessage preferences on my macbook pro that in settings i was able to turn off my cell phone number (?and email account) so that messages would never pop up on my iMac. but i also noticed that under accounts, "blocked" it LISTS the names and phone numbers of people i have blocked! is there some way to make sure this NEVER shows up on my macbook pro?
when i "deleted" some of the blocked names in accounts of iMessage on my macbook pro, and then looked on my phone, i noticed they were no longer blocked. so i blocked a particular individual again via my phone, and it showed up in my iMessage as blocked on my macbook pro.
is there a way to just remove or completely hide iMessage on my macbook pro? can i also remove it from the ?toolbar at the bottom of the computer?
2) same thing with FaceTime. i never use it on my iPhone (have it turned off on my iPhone), and have it turned off on my macbook via preferences. but is there also a way to remove it or hide it on my macbook pro, so that it never shows up? also remove it from ?toolbar at bottom of macbook?
(interestingly, as i typed this, i noticed the iMessage icon disappeared from my ?toolbar at the bottom of the macbook pro. was that because i hit the "hide iMessage" under preferences on my macbook?)

a-Sign out of Messages by going to System Preferences/Internet Accounts and deselect the enable this account box. To get it out of the Dock, control - click and hold, then Options/Remove from Dock. Dock procedure is the same for FaceTime.
For FaceTime, open the application then FaceTime/Preferences, and deselect enable this account. -
IPad mini Retina keeps disconnecting and reconnecting from Macbook Pro USB 3.0

I know this title seems similar to existing questions around the internet, but they were either out of date or didn't lead to an answer.
The two devices in question are an iPad Mini Retina and a Macbook Pro late 2013. They are both up-to-date in software terms with iOS 8.3 and OS X 10.10.3.
I kind of ruled out the cable as the culprit because the connection to my iPhone is flawless which makes me think the USB ports aren't part of the problem either (Problem occurs on both Ports). Connecting the iPad to a power socket works fine as well.
As the title states it (re-)connects and disconnects in intervals of approx. 0.5 seconds which is followed by a "dong", the charging symbol on the iPad and a message in iTunes which either states "Device isn't connected" or "Device wasn't found". I tried to check the box in iTunes "Prevent devices from automatically syncing[...]" but nothing changed.
This problem does not occur at all times but I have not been able to get a hold of when it does work.
I also tried a diagnose on my Macbook but no errors have been found and the iTunes Version is up to date as well.
This is about all the input I got and really do hope to get some helping answers.

i have an external hard disk but whenever i tried to transfer any file or data from macbook to this ext.disk its failed before that i used to have another hard drive with same problem ,then i thought may be this hard drive is not support mac then i bought a new one which supports mac but still i have same problem what should i do ?
Ok.
Go into Disk Utility, and make sure you select your external hard drive.
There should be 4 tabs, one being erase. I have taken a screenshot to show you what it should be set to (obviously name it what you like), and set the format to Mac OSX Extended (Journaled) as per the example below & after double checking your in the right drive, you can hit erase. And you're done! *hopefully* -
Seagate Plug and Play from Macbook Pro to Macbook Air
Recently bought a new Macbook Air to upgrade my 2010 Macbook Pro 13 inch.
I had been using a Seagate Plug and Play external hardrive that needed no formatting on my Macbook Pro . However when I tried to use the same on my Macbook Air it did not allow me to drag files across the the hardrive.
I can see it in the Finder but unable to drag files to it.
I thought Plug and Play woudl across all Macs?OS X comes with the ability to read NTFS but not write it. Some Seagate drives come with software to enable writing NTFS on that drive. You probably installed it on your 2010 MBP when you got the drive, then forgot you had done so. Find the software installer if it is still on the drive and run it on your MBA. (You might have to locate a newer version online.)
Alternatively, you can purchase a version that can run on any NTFS disk. I use Paragon NTFS for Mac. I initially got a limited version with a Seagate drive, then purchased the full version. -
Getting photos to iPad 1 and iPhone from macbook pro with icloud.
Icloud seems fine - except my photos are not showing up on IPad 1 or iPhone. Macbook pro is running Lion 10.7.2 and the other two devices have iOS 5.0.1. I've checked all three have photos switched 'on' for icloud.
What am I doing wrong?

Strange bug and crash on macbook pro retina

today i opened my mac, started writing some script, went away for a couple of minutes and here we go. The touchpad and the keyboard still were working, and i could type and move things. Before shut it down i tryed to close and open it, or closing application etc.. but it only got worst. Then i shut it down, and now it seems to work fine, but what was that?Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button,
and select the library you want to add from those in the selection window.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note 1: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost.
Note 2: Your current library will be left untouched for further attempts at a fix if so desired.
If the new library doesn't work properly try this:
Starting over from scratch with new library
Start over with a new library and import the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from your original library as follows:
1. Open the library package like this.
2. Launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
3. Drag the subfolders of the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from the open iPhoto Library package into the open iPhoto window a few at a time.
This will create a new library with the same Events (but not necessarily the same Event names) as the original library but will not keep the metadata, albums, books slideshows and other projects.
Note: your current library will be left untouched for further attempts at a fix if so desired.
In either case your current library will be untouched for further testing if necessary. -
It's driving me crazy; I have a firewire, but it isn't compatible with the ports on the new macbook pro with retina display.

I upgraded a long time from iPhoto 5 to 6 and didnt work i had come here for help and posted a thread but because its to old wont allow me to reply. My problem is that when i open iPhoto it keeps saying "loading the photos" but nothing works and sudd
