Error initializing SAPinst for iSeries: Error during authentication. Detailed message is: "Share sap on host host BOINFSAD is no non-converting share to root, fix the share or reinstall TMKSVR."*
*Exit status of child: 1*

Hi Victor,
If I understand correctly your post, you successfully installed the TMKSVR, but when you start SAPinst,  it fails with error :
Error initializing SAPinst for iSeries: Error during authentication. Detailed message is: "Share sap on host host BOINFSAD is no non-converting share to root, fix the share or reinstall TMKSVR."*
*Exit status of child: 1*
Later on, you make the note that this error happens when you use the ROOT share, but it doesn't happen when the ROOTBIN share is used. The installation documentation clearly statest that to run SAPinst, you much mapped the ROOTBIN share to your PC.  Therefore I assume there is not problem here. You should use the ROOTBIN share.

  • What do I need to properly connect SAP to AS/400 database through ADBC API?

I need to retrieve some information from an AS/400 database.
How do I need to fill the entry in DBCON table to establish a connection succesfully? Do I need any library and how can I install it?
The SAP System runs with a SQL Server Database.

    Its working fine for me.

  • Linux Testdrive SAP NetWeaver 7.02 on DB2 LUW now available in SAP Shop

You can find the DB6 based NW7.02 (SP09) Testdrive in www.sap.com/shop -> Knowledge Shop -> Documentation -> SAP NetWeaver -> SAP NetWeaver, material number is 50108304. Don't let yourself get fooled by the currently misleading description, 50108304 is the DB2 LUW based version. I will have that corrected. If you don't have a 64bit Linux system,  you can download SLES11 VM at http://download.novell.com/Download?buildid=x1e9uCQ4074~ run the virtual machine, e. g., with VMware Player.

    Hi Ulysees
Thanks for letting me know. I take care that Suse will provide the users.txt file, still a bit reluctant to post the info directly in this thread. But some colleagues did that work for me, you can check http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/downloads?rid=/library/uuid/40cc99a8-c0d0-2e10-4d83-c5aad873599f for an instruction. There is a detailed How-To available on this page, which hast the root user passsword on page 10.

  • Migrate SAP from DB2 9.5 to DB2 9.7 using System copy

    Hello,
We are migrating our SAP systems to new hardware and we are also planning to upgrade our database from DB2 9.5 to DB2 9.7. So my question is can we take a db backup of our current SAP system which is on DB2 9.5 and install the target SAP instance directly on DB2 9.7 during the System copy?
Or do we need to install the target SAP instance on DB2 9.5 and then upgrade the system to DB2 9.7 after the System copy procedure.
Please let me know as we need to start the migration at the earliest.
    Thanks
    D

    Hi Deepak,
Yes, that is possible (but only offline backup). But for the new features like reclaimable tablespace (to lower the high watermark)
it's better to export/import with systemcopy.
Also with systemcopy you can use index compression.
After backup and restore you can have also reclaimable tablespace, but you have to create new tablespaces
and then work with db6conv and online table move to move one tablespace online to the new one.
    Best regards,
    Joachim

    Hello,
just migrating a DB2 database to Oracle 10g might be an easy task. The Oracle Migration Workbench is the tool for such a migration:

  • SAP on DB2 Express-C

Is it possible to install an sap abap engine on a db2 express community edition (express-c) ?

    I doubt so.
PAM states, that you can use
    DB2 UDB v8
    DB2 LUW v9
The database interface libraries (libdbdb6*) are linked against specific versions of those two, they MAY work but they are not officially supported.

  • Administration DB2 V9 for SAP

    Hello,
I´m new in DB2. We have installed SAP ERP2006 on AX and DB2 V9. I have experience with Oracle. In administration tasks (reorganization, extend tablespaces, change logging,...) we used the SAPDBA utility.
My question is - does exist some database administration utility like SAPDBA for DB2?
If not, what utility can be used for basic administration procedures?
    Thank You

  • Saplocales for IBM i (installation of SAP ERP)

    Hello gurus,
I will install a SAP ERP 6.0 very soon in OS/400 with DB2, I mean IBM i (IBM i5/OS) with IBM DB2 for i (IBM DB2 for i5/OS)... now I´m reading the installation guide in way to prepare the installation... but I´m with a doubt regarding saplocales in this type of platform, because this is mentioned in installation guide at Software Requirements, it said:
    National Language Support (NLS)
Make sure that National Language Support (NLS) and corresponding saplocales are installed
The NLS is already installed but I don´t understand what they want to say with "saplocales"... I only found sap notes with this saplocales but for LINUX platforms... this is the reason for my doubts!
Can you clarify me if there is some notes that explain the saplocales for IBM i...?! If so, where I can find this files for IBM i...?
    Thank you,
    João Dimas - Portugal

    Hello João,
when NLS is installed, it is perfect. Please ignore the rest, as you will install unicode and then it is no longer needed to ensure more locales ...
So, it will just work when you install the system.
I hope, you are installing ERP6.05 - that is a really nice installation with NW 7.02 and a native installation on iSeries with VNC - soooooo much nicer than the combined windows/iSeries installation stuff of the past ...

  • Details on data types for posting data to DB2 on AS400 from XI

    Hi
We have a scenario in which we post data from XI (3.0, SP23 ) to DB2 on AS400 and we are using jdbc adapters ( jdbc drivers from IBM deployed on XI J2EE server as per SAP's instructions )
On AS400-DB2, there are two files F1 and F2  that we have to update in a particular library L1 - on a server S1.  Each of the two files has a single field with the same name as that of the file.
I have the following questions :
    1. How do we construct/specify the data type in order to convert XML from XI to the sql that DB2 needs - I do understand there is a standard data type structure used to convert XML to sql calls when we use JDBC receiver adapter type communication channel. Do we use the same for posting XML data from XI to DB2 too ?
    2. What is the url for the jdbc driver - to connect to DB2 on AS400 ?
Please share experiences of XI -- > posting to DB2 using JDBC.

    Used standard xml -->SQL constructs

  • SAP PI /DB 2 - Monitor volumes

    Hello,
We have SAP PI 7.1 on DB2 installation ,how do we monitor at Database level the DB2 volumes /DB2 admin ?
    Thank you.

We do the same as Marco for exactly the same reasons. The Basis team can never really tell how we look on space without asking our z/OS SMS person. Combined with the fact that you have to run a rather long-running DB02 job every day (if you want daily growth information) to collect dataset storage utilization and it is one of the real downsides of SAP on DB2 z/OS. This has NOT been our experience with SAP on other database platforms.
