Instaling imovie 06 in computer with Mac Os 10.4.11

I had Mac Os 10.3.9 in my computer when the hard drive died. I had Apple Care so they replaced the hard drive, BUT they installed Mac Os 10.4.11 (probably a confusion). This happened in September 2009 and I decided to try the free upgrade I got (of course, I have no access to the instalation CDs of the iLife 08). Time passed and since I did not use the iMovie for a while, I did not look into the 08 version. Only much later, when I tried to use it, I noticed the big change... well, all of you know the complaints about the iMovie 08, however, there are a few features in it which I would like to still have access to.
Here is my wish: I would like to install the iMovie 06 from the original instalation CD that came with my Mac without erasing the iMovie 08. (Unfortunately, It seems that I missed the free download offer of the iMovie 06.0.4 for iLife 08 users.)
I have not yet found clear instructions on how to do that safely, whithout having iMovie 08 overwritten. I also read that when some people did that, the iDVD 08 was not working anymore. As I do not have the instalation CD for iLife 08, I am afraid of loosing what I have.
Could someone be so kind to post clear directions (please, for someone not so savy with complicated instalations) on how to safely download iMovie 06 from the original instalation CD, including where/how exactly to save the file, where I would find the iMovie 08 folder which I would have to change the name so that it is not erased (if I have to do that), plus all the safety procedures to do it right? (or please tell me if/how I still can get the iMovie 06.0.4...)
Any help will be deeply appreciated!

Move iMovie '08 from the Applications folder to your Desktop. Do the same with GarageBand, iPhoto and iDVD as they are all part of iLife '08 just to be sure you don't overwrite them, too.
Install iMovie only (if possible) from the iLife '06 DVD.
Run Software Update to get it up to 6.0.3. 6.0.3 and 6.0.4 are identical (just different version numbers).
Remove any apps that may have been installed in error (iDVD, GarageBand and iPhoto) by dragging them to the Trash.
Make a new folder named "iMovie (previous version)" in the Applications folder and drag iMovie '06 into it.
Drag the other iLife '08 apps back into the Applications folder.

  • Having trouble installing iMovie HD on a new Mac with Mavericks

I am having trouble installing iMovie HD on a new Mac with Mavericks.
I know that iMovie HD works with Mavericks because we are using it on other Macs successfully.   However, those machines were upgraded starting with OS 10.6.   In other words, iMovie HD was installed on these Macs when the Macs had Snow Leopard.
When I use the iLife 06 disc, I am presented with “You can't open the application “iLife 06” because PowerPC applications are no longer supported."
I understand that iMovie HD  is universal, not PowerPC.  How can I get past this to install iMovie HD.
    Thanks

    OK, I made some progress.
I used Pacifist (Shareware) to open the iMovie HD 6 install packages from the iLife '06 installer DVD (iMovie.pkg and iMovieThemes_Tiger.pkg) and let Pacifist install them to the right places.
But doesn't iMovie HD 6 require QuickTime 7 to work ?

Download the Adobe Flash Player offline FULL installer directly by right clicking one of the following links and selecting "Save target as" (IE), "Save Link As" (FIrefox) or "Download Linked File As" (Safari).

  • G4 computer with mac OS 9 can I upgrade to mac OS X ?

    I have a G4 computer with mac OS 9 can I upgrade to mac OS X ?
    what software I need?

    rectv, welcome to Apple Discussions.
You need to state what model G4 you have, what version of OS 9.x is installed and amount of RAM. Add this info to your Apple Discussion profile.
Tiger install DVDs are in short supply. Tiger is no longer available at the Apple Store but may be available for $129 by calling Apple Phone Sales @ 1-800-MY-APPLE (1-800-692-7753). For other sources, do a Google search for MA453Z/A (10.4.6), MA190Z/A (10.4.3) and M9639Z/A (10.4) . Also look on eBay. Be sure & buy a retail version (black with silver X) and not a model specific version (gray) (See Can I use another Mac's system restore disc on my Mac? ). Expect to pay (possibly a lot) more than the Apple list price of $129.
Also check this web store http://www.lacomputercompany.com/cgi-bin/rpcart/index.cgi?command=dispitem&type= sku&sku=19521
Possible Alternative if you are currently using Panther 10.3 – Do a Google search for Tiger 10.4 Upgrade DVD . It will upgrade your 10.3 to 10.4, but it doesn’t contain the full retail Tiger installer. Should be cheaper than the retail Tiger install DVD.
After you install the base 10.4.x, update to the final Tiger version 10.4.11. Here's the link for the 10.4.11 combo update http://support.apple.com/kb/TA24901?viewlocale=en_US
Look at this link Mac OS X v10.4 Tiger Installing Software Support Page
    http://www.apple.com/support/tiger/install/
You can also download the Tiger Installation and Setup Guide
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/TigerInstall_SetupGuide.pdf
When you upgrade the OS, do it via Archive & Install. See About the Archive and Install feature http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1710
Be sure to select Preserve Users & Settings. Also, repair permissions before and after the install.
IF OS X has never been installed on your G4, you need to check if your Mac requires a firmware (Boot ROM version in System Profiler) update. Mac OS X: Available firmware updates
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86117 If an update is required, the update must be installed (using OS 9) BEFORE you install OS X.

  • I have Adobe 5.0, original disk, 6.0 upgrade, original disk, and Adobe CS2. I'd like to install in my new computer with Win.8.1. Can you help?

I have Adobe 5.0, original disk, 6.0 upgrade, original disk, and Adobe CS2. I'd like to install in my new computer with Win.8.1. Can you help?

Forget about all the versions you already have (5.0 through to CS2). They will no longer work and the serial numbers are redundant.
Download the non-activation version of CS2 form the link provided by kglad and use the new non-activation serial number provided at that link. Your existing serial number(s) will no longer work.
Note: there is no guarantee that CS2 will run well on Win 8.1. Try it and see.

  • How to install Windows XP in parallel with Mac OS on a Macbook?

Can anyone tell me how to install Windows XP in parallel with Mac OS on a Macbook?
If I divide the hard drive into 2 patritions and install Win XP & Mac OS on each patrition, is it ok?

I don't think he meant "Parallels", I think he just meant "parallel", with a little 'p'.
There are three options for running Windows software on an Intel-based Mac:
Virtualization: you can install software such as Parallels or VMWare (along with a licensed copy of Windows) which will emulate the environment necessary to run Windows software. Performance is significantly degraded, but you can work with both Windows and Mac software simultaneously.
Dual boot: You can use Apple's Bootcamp to partition your drive and create a CD of Windows drivers for your devices, so that you can then install Windows on one partition of your drive. Your Windows software will run just as it does on any other Windows PC, but you have to reboot to switch between Windows and OS X.
Crossover: Crossover is a product that allows you to run Windows programs in OS X without installing Windows. Not all Windows software will work with Crossover though.

    Hello jgrn76,
It sounds like you are getting an error stating that the iTunes installer cannot be run on your computer. I would try downloading the 64 bit version of iTunes from here:
    iTunes 11.1.3 for Windows (64-bit)
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1615
If issues persist when trying to install it, I would try running through the steps in the article named:
Issues installing iTunes or QuickTime for Windows
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1926
Otherwise, would you mind elaborating a bit on what the error message says, word for word?
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • How to know via PowerShell "did user install office on his computer with office 365 or not"

    Hello. Sorry for my english.
Subject: How to know via PowerShell "did user install office on his computer with office 365 or not"
I set to users Office 365 ProPlus license, that allows a user to install Office on up to five computers. I want to know, user use this opportunity or not, install office or not.
User can view his installation in the Office 365 portal:
But how I (like admin Office365) can view this information? Maybe via PowerShell?
    Thank you...

    Hi,
    Please see the
blog, I copied the part of here:
    ====
Viewing a list of Office 365 ProPlus installations
A user can see which computers she has installed Office on by signing in to the Office 365 Portal and going to the
    software page.
Only the signed in user can see this information.  Even if you are the administrator for your organization's Office 365 subscription, you can't see this information in any of your Office 365 administrative views. This also means you can't deactivate
a user's installation of Office on a specific computer. More on deactivation in a bit.
    ====
If you have further question about Office 365, I recommend you post the question to Office 365 forum:

  • Can I install iMovie 5 on an Intel mac?

Hello. I recently got a new Mac which came with iMovie 09 installed. If possible........I would like to also install iMovie 5 on the same machine (as I have lots of 3rd party effects with that version). So I'm wondering is this possible and how do I do it? I have my old install discs (1 and 2) for OS 10.2 and 10.4 ........I'm not sure which disk contains the iMovie 5 App. and how I would go about just installing iMovie 5 without the other iApps? Would there be any conflict in having the 2 iMovie Apps installed on the same Mac? Thanks for any help.

Okay, this is odd. I have Snow Leopard which came with my newest iMac Intel desktop I purchased about six months ago. When I bought it, I imported all of my old programs from my old Mac which ran on the Tiger OS, including iMovie 5. I have been using iMovie 5 on snow leopard with NO PROBLEM for the last six months to edit and save footage, since I hate the new iMovie 09 and find it completely user unfriendly.
However, today I was editing all afternoon, no issue, and then this evening I opened my project to start working, edited one transition and the program turned into a white screen and shut down. Now I can't open any imovie files on it. I tried deleting and importing the program again as I had originally, and it still won't load. What gives? How did it run perfectly for months and finally implode?
I did run a software update yesterday, but I edited without issue for roughly five hours after that. I was only about an hour away from finishing my project, and now I can't even open it! Any ideas?
I've heard there is a program called Rosetta - which was not installed when I bought the system but apparently is on the discs? - which can run some of the old programs. Would installing this solve the issue?

  • Why can't I install iMovie 10 on my 2008 Mac Pro?

I am running Mavericks 10.9 and really like it. I tried to install iMovie 10 on my Mac Pro  Quad-Core Intel Xeon 2.8 GHz and it says my video card is not compatible. Huh? I have a ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT with 256mb vram.
    Thanks!
    Rich

I don't think that card supports Open CL which iMovie 10 requires.

  • Can I Install Photshop 10 on computer with no CD Rom?

Are you able to install Photoshop 10 progarm on computer with no CD Rom?

Bueno certainly it is possible.  You can copy the installation files on a USB drive using a computer which does include an optical drive.
Alternately you can download a new copy of the installation files.  I am unsure if you are referring to Photoshop CS3 or Photoshop Elements 10.  You can find information though on where to go to download both at http://forums.adobe.com/message/5418120#5418120.

  • Start computer with Mac OS x installation disk.

Will starting my iMac with the Mac OS x installation disc erase all of my information stored on my computer, such as documents, iTunes and etc?  I am getting an message that states I have a corrupt file.  This is occurring when I click on "Utilities" then "Disk Utility then verify the disk.  Any comments and expertise would be greatly appreciated.

It should NOT erase anything unless you explicitly erase the drive, in fact it may prevent loses.
Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.
