The download file appears to be corrupted. Please refer

Please do not attempt to install this archive file.
It seems that the file downloaded have checksum error. I have tried to download the file in another machine and ftp to the linux machine. However, I still get the error.
Thanks in advance,

Hi,
I try to install the sdk 1.4 in Mandrake 8.2 with the
rpm version but get the following error.
Unpacking...
tail: -bash: No such file or directory
Checksumming...
1You're missing the "tail" command, so the script isn't working. (AFAICT)
Running "which tail" should prove or disprove it. :)
The tail command will be in the textutils RPM:

Installing the one for Mandrake on your system should fix the problem.

  • Cannot install JMF under Linux Mandrake 10

I simply cannot install JMF under the Mandrake 10 Official Linux distribution. I downloaded the jmf-2_1_1e-linux-i586.bin file and tried to execute it as root. It unzipped some files then showed me an error message about AWT and GTK+. I found a hack consisting of modifying the .bin file to have the PATH variable point to SUN JDK, the error does not show up, but the installation still does not work. In fact, the installation works, but the Diagnostics applet keeps telling me than class files are not present. My Mozilla 1.6 Java plugin is working and displaying the applet. My JMF lib directory does not contain sound.jar, such jmf.jar. I set the CLASSPATH and LD_LIBRARY_PATH according to the readme.html file. I would like to know if it is a compatibility problem with Mandrake 10, the 2.6 kernel or if JMF just DO NO work under Linux. In the latter case, JMF is a violation to the Java portability philosophy and I would never use it on my own initiative, just if I were asked to.
After the files are unzipped, I have the following warning and error messages.
    Warning:

    Class: XmScrollBar

scrollbar value minus the scrollbar slider size.

Even if I do not have a working video capture card (I have an ATI All-in-Wonder 128 but it is not working under 2.6 kernel), JMF should work because some people do not have a video capture card. I also tried with the cross-platform ZIP file, but this one does not contain sound.jar either and the Diagnostics applet keeps complaining about missing class files. I tried to search on the Web for solutions to this problem or for a way to change the CLASSPATH used by the Mozilla Java plug-in (if it uses a different CLASSPATH than the one from the environment variable), but nothing, nothing. Is there a distribution from which JMF would work better than Mandrake 10? Or can JMF work only under Microsoft Windows or Sun Solaris? I also tried Blackdown, but a README file directed me to the Sun's page, nothing to download here about JMF.

well, your not the only one.
I have it working in Debian, and JDS.(JMF is setup automatically in JDS).(2.6.6 kernel)
I looked at the installation structure of JDS, and was able to duplicate what they did for Debian.
Maybe it will work for Mandrake two??
ok, all you have to do is copy or create soft links from your Mozilla directory, just like you did with the java plugin, and link to all the *.so files in JMF-2.1.1e/lib directory.
    Should work.
I also read that not haveing the native files only matters if you are doing Capture. not play.
to get your ATI All-in-Wonder 128 to work, make sure you install the correct driver, and have it working under linux, then try it in JMSTUDIO

I don't really understand why you are using almost 6 years old distribution (release date 2002/09/30).
What's the sense? Time has changed and of course SW included in this distro has changed (significantly) and especially glibc.
10g R1 is certified for RH EL 2.1. When I compare version of packages (RH 8 vs RHEL 2.1) it could be possible (easily) to install on RH 8. For 10g R2 you need defintely upgrade at least glibc* packages.

I am installing 9i r2 on Mandrake 8.1 and have followed your instruction (as best I could) but I am having installation problems.
    1. The fonts for JAVA are not being read correctly, but the install does begin. I am not installing from the console but using VNC to get to my little server.
    2. Everything goes fine until I get the error "can't write to file ...jtc.h". I have tried to change permission ( chown 777) on file with no luck.
Exception String: Error in writing to file /data/u01/app/oracle/product/9.2.0/javavm/jahome/jtc.h
    3. After that error, I then continue to get error throughout the install, until I just cancel
    4. Do I have to make the set_shmmax change...I previously had 8.1.7 installed and had made a kernal memory change?
    5. I did not change the "binutils"

  • Install Oracle 8i R2 on Mandrake 7.1

    Hi,
    I tried to install 8i R2 on mandrake 7.1.
My problem is after run ./runInstaller, I could see Oracle Universal Installer. Even though I click on 'Next' button, it doesn't move at all. It looks like no button on installer is working.
Anyone knows solution for this problem?
    Thanks,

FIrst, make sure you ahve the proper users/groups set up and the appropriate permissions for each. Next, run, don't walk, to
    http://www.arsdigita.com/ad-training/acs-install/oracle
This guide is excellent and I followed all of it except the date formatting bits. Also, try the oracle and database installations under Gnome and not KDE- this worked for me for some reason.
    Good luck!

  • Who has a Oracle8i successful install on Mandrake 8.0?

Wonder who has a successful install of Oracle8i on Mandrake 8.0. After many attempts, I got through 90% of it with the following constraints:
    1. Need to install glibc2.2.2 patch.
    2. Need to run intaller in GENOME. It does not work in KDE.
    3. But I still could not get through init database as there is an identical database ID hidden somewhere in the system from previous install that could not be removed.

  • Install problems on Mandrake

I'm trying to install Oracle8i on Linux (Mandrake 8.1) and after
several days, I'm starting to see some progress, but just
barely. I do mean BARELY. I picked up the Macmillan (publisher)
package at a half price bookstore and thought this was going to
be a breeze. The install documentation is fair, and probably
makes sense to experience Linux users. I'm just not there yet.
Well, here's what I've done so far:
    - As root, set up mount points for software: /Oracle/u01; for
    databse:
    /Oracle/u02.
    - Created a 'dba' group.
    - Created an 'oinstall' group.
    - Create an 'oracle' user.
    - Assigned 'oracle' user to 'dba' group.
    - Assigned 'oracle' user to 'oinstall' group.
    - Made 'oinstall' group the primary group for 'oracle' user.
    - Set up environment variables in ./etc/profile.d/custom.sh'
file to load on startup: (export
    ORACLE_BASE=/Oracle/u01/app/oracle); (export
    ORACLE_HOME=/Oracle/u01/app/oracle/product/8.1.5); and (export
    DISPLAY=computer_name:0.0).
    - I created the folders '/Oracle/u01/app/oracle'
and '/Oracle/u01/app/oracle/product/8.1.5)' because it was odd
that this would be in the environment but no folders existed
(book didn't say to create them??).
    - I downloaded 'jre-1.2.2-RC4-linux-i386-glibc-2.1.2.sh' from
www.blackdown.org and installed it to /usr/jre.
    - I added '/usr/jre/bin' to the $PATH
    in ./etc/profile.d/custom.sh'. There's a link in '/usr/jre/bin'
    named 'java'.
    - I tested 'java -version' and it looks right to me. See the
    following output.
And now, here's where I'm getting hung-up. The installation
instructions say to create a symbolic link to the jre as
    in '/usr/local/jre' to 'installed_path_of_jre/jre_116_v5'
assuming that the downloaded version of jre is
named 'jre_116_v5'. Okay, so what does this mean? Make a
symbolic link to the 'java' symbolic link? Make a link to
folder '/usr/jre'? or '/usr/jre/bin'? And does it say WHERE to
put that link? NO! So, I experiment... alot. I do variations
of the following which seems to be as close to these
instructions as I can think of: 'ln -s /usr/jre/bin/java
/usr/local/jre'. And this is what I get under the 'oracle' user
after mounting '/mnt/cdrom' and running ./runInstaller:
    # This is my java test:
    [oracle@nebula cdrom]$ java -version
    java version "1.2.2"
Classic VM (build Linux_JDK_1.2.2_RC4, native threads, sunwjit)
    # This is what's on the cdrom:
    [oracle@nebula cdrom]$ ls
    BonusChapter/ Examples/ install/ relnote.pdf runInstaller*
    Translations/ doc/ index.htm relnote.htm
    rr_moved/ stage/
    # Here's what I get when I run the installer:
    [oracle@nebula cdrom]$ ./runInstaller
Initializing Java Virtual Machine from /usr/local/jre/bin/jre.
    Please wait...
    Error in CreateOUIProcess(): -1
: No such file or directory
That line [blah, blah, blah.."from /usr/local/jre/bin/jre."]
just doesn't make sense to me. The '../bin/jre' part of that
message suggests that the 'java' link in '/usr/jre/bin' should
be renamed as 'jre', but that's nuts! So, what's the answer?
Does this make sense to anyone out here?

    Jorge

    Hola Jorge.
Asumo que hablas espaqol :). Yo me encontre con el mismo
problema pero en Red Hat 7.1. Definitivamente es un problema con
la glibc. Tanto Mandrake 8.1 y Redhat 7.* traen una glibc mas
nueva (glibc-2.*.*.).
Si
    sabes algo por favor avisame.
    Saludos.
    Alejandro.

  • Where to obtain hardcopies of install bugs/notes

I have spent more time trying to get copies of the Bugs/Notes (ex: <Note:97135.1>) that are referenced in the "User Friendly Install of Oracle8i on Redhat Linux 6.1" than installing/creating Oracle8i on Mandrake 6.0.... I already figured out all of the problems I encountered on my own, but it sure would be nice to get these references. Does anyone know where these mysterious documents reside? I have perused Oracle's Bug Database to no avail, Hell, for that matter I have gone in circles on Oracle's Technet site trying to find ANY of these documents listed in the "User Frie..." to no avail. Is there possibly a special archive site where these docs now reside?

  • Mandrake 8 and Oracle 9i

Has anybody been able to successfully install oracle 9i on Mandrake 8.0. I have applied all the updates required to run 8i but the 9i installer still fails towards the end of the unpacking of the packages. I have check the error logs which don't indicate a problem.

of the unpacking of the packages. I have check
the error logs which don't indicate a problem.Does the progress indicator hang at 91% ? If so,
I may be experiencing the same symptom on Slackware 8.0
There is a great piece of information posted to
a slackware.com forum about steps to get 9i working
on Slackware, some people have done it. The info
includes down-grading binutils to the version shipped
with Redhat 7.0, installing glocale from the slackware
8.0 disks, and installing a couple of symbolic links
to help the install program along.
I (and possibly you) am experiencing a symptom not
mentioned in the information, and which seems related
to java - here is my posting to that forum... so
far I have received no additional information.
Anyone in OTN have insight into this ?

install attempt (on slack 8.0). I have hit an
issue that I have seen no mention of, and I have
tried to follow as many instructions from the Oracle
install documentation, and from forum postings such
as Marcin's. The issue is that when the installer
gets to 91% of it's initial file-copy (or whatever
it is doing behind that first progress meter), I get
the following java error in oraInstall.err:
    java.lang.VerifyError

    Any hints ?

  • 9ir2 on mandrake 8.2

I installed 9ir2 on a mandrake 8.2 box, with 512M RAM, everything is Ok until the step database conf assist. it gave a message:
ora-03113 end-of-file on communication channal, when press the ok button, is closed.
the same thing happed when I use the dbca to create a database.
    who can help?

You are on the bleeding edge in both Mandrake version and Oracle 9i version. Good luck from the rest of us who will be following you in the near future. One thing I can say is that Mandrake appears to be very similar to RedHat in the installation process. Most (but not all) solutions to Redhat problems apply to Mandrake as well.
I have not gotten the rev quite down but I believe that
Mandrake 8.2 is similar to Redhat 7.3
Mandrake 8.1 is similar to Redhat 7.2
    etc.
I have been keeping track of my installation notes for Mandrake versions and Oracle versions but I have not had the opportunity to try this combo yet. Please keep this thread going until you get a solution. I will be doing this install soon probably and will include my complete notes at http://mywebpages.comcast.net/joseph.flynn/oracle.htm . So far, I have Oracle 8.1.6/7 on mandrake 8.0, Oracle 9i on Mandrake 8.0 and Oracle 9i on Mandrake 8.1
    Good luck again.

  • Mandrake 9.0

What is needed to install an Oracle 9i database
    on Mandrake?

    Hi Claudia,
I'm trying to install 9i 2r on Mandrake 9 too.
In fact, I've installed procedures finished with one error message. But I cannot use the bank.
If you need some help ask me and I'll try to help you.

  • Instaling 10g on Linux

    Hi all.
I downloaded the personal edition of the new 10g database for Linux, and has had all sorts of problems.
First the download is compressed in cpio-format, witch is largely unknown, and not supported by Konqueror/Ark. I found the utility on the net and installed it.
Then, when I started the installation it came out and complained about my version of Linux, from Suse. It was not stated anywhere that the DB is only able to install on Red Hat / Mandrake.
I have spend 2 days to try to install this product, and now I find out that it is not possible at all. There should be RPM's available for all distros.
    Allan Cloos

Suggest you refer to http://www.puschitz.com for general installation of Oracle products on Linux, especially on trhe Red Hat series.
If it's not listed on Werner's site, it probably will be subject to problems and issues.
To the original poster - I am truly surpised that you could not find cpio for your distribution - cpio has been a basic utility for unix and linux since the 70s.
