Install 2nd copy of aperture on new MBA

apologies upfront if this has been answered, I did a search but could not find the answer.
I have been an Aperture user since 2008, I have the original 2.x version DVD as well as the 3.0 upgraded DVD, and since that time all my updates are managed electronically. I'm running my library on a MacPro.
I got a new MBA (love it) and I would like to install Aperture, more for casual use on trips.
The Appstore doesn't know that I have a license of Aperture, so it wants me to pay.
The 3.0 upgrade DVD doesn't install as it is looking for a 2.0 installation.
I have not tried yet to install 2.0 and am afraid that won't work either.
What's my best option to install 3.x?

Download the Aperture 3 Trial version from this link:
Aperture 3.1 Trial
Then update it immediately from the Apple  menu> Software update, launch it, and enter your serial number(s).  You will need both, the Aperture 2 and the upgrade serial numbers.

  • Can't install 2nd copy of Photoshop CC

Hello, I've just purchased a photoshop CC and couldn't install the 2nd copy on my home Mac.
Creative Cloud keeps telling me that I got the latest version of Photoshop CC installed but I don't have it actually, I have never downloaded it on my home Mac.

  • Installing previously purchased boxed Aperture on new MacBook Pro.

My old Mac Pro has kicked the bucket so I have purchased a new MacBook Pro with no CD/DVD drive. My past purchases of Aperture were in the form of Aperture 2 and the upgrade to Aperture 3, both in box form. The only place that I can find a download of an installation copy of Apeture is at the App Store but then I'd have to repurchase it.
I called Apple but the support people just sent me a form to fax proof of purchase for a serial replacement. I'm not sure that's what I need.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Julianne

Julianne, the last Aperture 3 installer (the Trial installer) is no longer available for download, sorry.
You need to find a way to read your installer CD/DVD. Can anybody, who owns a Mac with a CD/DVD drive help you to burn a disk image of your Aperture 3 installer DVD to a thumbs drive? Or could you borrow an external DC/DVD drive? Then you could run the Aperture installer from that disk image and immediately upgrade to Aperture 3.4.5 by downloading the 3.4.5 upgrade from Apple's support page.
    See: Aperture 3.4.5
Then launch the updated version and enter your serial numbers for Aperture 2 und 3.
After that, you should be able to update to Aperture 3.5 from the App Store.
If you cannot copy your installer CD/DVD to a thumbsdrive, try to restore Aperture from your backup. How did you migrate the data from your old mac? Did you run Migration Assistant, using a Time Machine backup?
To restore Aperture from your backup, copy the Aperture application to your Applications folder. Also you need to migrate the folders
/Library/Application Support/Aperture/  from your old Macintosh HD and
~//Library/Application Support/Aperture/ from your Home folder.
But running the installer would be much preferable.

  • Adobe Premiere CC won't install 2nd copy

Had Premiere CC on two computers. Uninstalled from one. Even though I have on only one computer now Adobe CC says I have it on two and will not let me install  it on the 2nd one.
    Thanks,

Did you sign out (Help > Sign Out) before you uninstalled?
You probably need to contact Adobe to get your activation count reset.

  • Installing 2nd copy

I have just subscribed to PS+LR CC Photography Program and installed the apps yesterday - haven't had a change to use them yet.
I understand that I can install on a second PC so I will be doing this shortly on my Wife's laptop.
    How is this done?
The laptop may get replaced next year, so I need to know if it is possible to move the installation to a new laptop?   and is this process straight forward?

    Hi Phil,
Here are the answers in Bold:
How is this done? You can install using the same method used on your current machine, the traditional install workflow.
The laptop may get replaced next year, so I need to know if it is possible to move the installation to a new laptop? Yes, just need to deactivate the subscription/software from the current laptop and download/install on a new one.
is this process straight forward? Yes it is a straight forward process if done previously.

  • Installing 2nd copy of CS5 on a laptop, getting "the serial number you entered is valid but a qualifying product cannot be found on this computer."

    Any help?

That means you are installing an upgrade version.  It is asking you to prove you own an earlier version that qualifies you to use the upgrade version.  Since it cannot finds opne on the machine you need to identify which version you are upgrading from and provide its serial number.

  • Should new Bootcamp be released for the New MBA?

Many people installed windows by bootcamp on the New MBA but most of them included me found no internet network. it is commonly explained that bacause the New MBA too new, bootcamp does not support wifi driver for it. I am waiting an update of bootcamp to experience windows on my New MBA. Come on Apple ^.^

Same problem here, I posted my problems in detail and another user posted a "double option-reboot into windows" workaround in this thread:

mendel, I'd love to log a bureport but I can't submit as the webpage tells me that "You must be a Registered Apple Developer to file bugs via Bug Reporter." and I am not able to register.
Has someone else in this thread logged this nagging bug?

  • Aperture 3 and New MBA

Hi, I couldn't find the answer here but I just got my new MBA and want to install Aperture 3. I have 3 questions, 1, as we know The MBA doesn't have a Optical drive and the retail version I bought is, so can I burn the image to a USB key from my mac pro? Two, is there a process to upgrade a full retail version to the mac app store? I know some programs offer A switch to their app store version for a nominal fee. Three, the aperture library on my mac pro is master images not referenced to an external because I have the space on the MP. Right now its onl 28 GB and I have the 256 SSD so I have room but what do you suggest moving forward? Smaller project based libraries or some combo or a shared library on the mac pro but then what do I do when I'm on the road? My Mobile me isn't big enough and we're waiting for icloud... Thoughts, suggestions and answers needed and welcome. I didn't see this answer anywhere either so sorry if these were answered and I couldn't find them.
    Thanks in advance!

Use one Library unless security or professional reasons require you to sequester images.  Multiple Libraries defeats the "management" part of Digital Asset Management.
Put the Library where you use it.
Read about, understand, and finally convert all (or nearly all) of your Images' Masters to be Referenced rather than Managed.  This works very well, and will give you some years (a couple hundred thousand Images under management) until you have to change your storage/back-up system.
Develop a mobile workflow as needed, and based on where your Library is kept.  Read this recent thread on one person's solution to a mobile workflow with Aperture on a desktop and sometimes on a roving laptop.
Ask specific questions as you have them.
(I have no answers for you re: program licensing and installation.)

  • Reinstalling Aperture on New Hard Drive (Downloaded Copy)

    Hello,
I have an activated and legitimate copy of Aperture 2.1.2 (with serial number).
I will be installing a new hard drive into my Mac Pro at the weekend and doing a clean install of Leopard.
    1) do I just download the trial version of Aperture and then enter my serial number to get the fully operational software?
    2) how do I rebuild my library / projects so that my pictures / tags etc. are recovered? I have been maintaining a Vault of my pictures. Do I just switch the external hardrive that that Vault is stored on and 'ask' Aperture to rebuild my library?
Sorry of my terminology is less than correct / technically accurate!
And thank you for your time,
    Adam

No, your reasoning is right on target. My comment about cloning was addressed more to the discussion with Wes, but I had sensed you were probably wanting a clean install. I did the same thing to create a boot volume where I freshly installed every pro application (for me that is Final Cut Studio apps, Photoshop CS3 and Aperture, plus some others) and got them up and running before adding still other applications. My other Leopard boot volumes were based upon having upgraded Tiger to Leopard, and when I got Aperture 2, I wanted to start fresh. I must say that with the boot volume that I had created by an upgrade of a clone of a Tiger boot volume, that Final Cut Pro and Photoshop had worked fine, and I still use that Leopard boot sometimes.

  • Previously installed Aperture3 on an iMac and a MBP. I Bought a new MBA to replace the MBP and I want to install Aperture3 on the new MBA.  The installer says the serial code is invalid? What do I do?

I previously bought Aperture 3 and installed in on an iMac and a MBP.  I just bought a new MBA to replace the MBP, but the MBA doesn't have enough memory for me to do a complete restore of the MBP on the MBA.  So I am trying to find a way to deactivate the serial code or Aperture 3 on the MBP so I can reinstall Aperture 3 on the MBA.  I have been searching forums and google and I have not been any answers.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

How did you buy Aperture? Did you buy it from the App Store? Then you can download it again on your MBA, if you sign into the App Store.
If you bought Aperture buy buying a licence key to unlock the trial, try if this download link for the trial version still works: if yes, you can unlock it with your serial number:
    http://appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite.net/content.info.apple.com/Aperture/061-8328 .20101020.AprE3/ApertureTrial3.1.dmg
And if you own the boxed DVD installer , use the DVD to install Aperture on your MBA. If the installer does not work - and you get the message
"check with the developer to make sure Aperture works with this version of Mac OS X"
you may have a problem with an expired developer certificate (they expired mid march).
To fix this, set the Date  in " SystemPreferences -> Date&Time" to a date well before March 2012 and run the Installer again. If that succeeds and Aperture now runs, reset the date to the current date.
You can see your serial number in the "About" panel in the main Aperture menu bar on your MBP:
    Aperture > About Aperture.
For the "invaldid serial number" see these links: You may have read the letters incorrectly - some are look alike, "1" or "I", "0" or "O"; your shift-lock key may be set.

  • Can I install my Aperture in new MBP

So i have Aperture in my current MBP. Can I also install it in my new MBP or do I have to buy it again?

If you want to have the software on both systems at the same time you must purchase another copy. Otherwise you must remove the copy of Aperture from your current MBP before installing Aperture on your new MBP. The license does not allow installation of a single copy on two laptops at the same time.

  • I own a copy of Aperture. my hard drive crashed and i want to load aperture onto my new imac. how do i do it?

I own a copy of Aperture. my hard drive crashed and I want to reoad aperture onto my new imac. how do i do it?

Depends on how you bought Aperture to begin with..
If you bought it from the Mac App Store simply log in to the MAS using the same Apple ID you used to buy it and download it
If you bought Aperture on DVD you will need to install from the DVD using the serial number you received with the DVD package.
If you bought Aperture through a digital download prior to the MAS, say a trial version you upgraded, things get a bit more complicated. You will need to install from the original DMG package file you downloaded and use the serial number Apple set you went you purchased it.

  • Install Aperture on new computer

I converted my Trial copy of Aperture to a full license on an old computer and now want to transfer that to a new one. As far as I can tell, there are no "trial" copies in downlads and the upgrade downloads don't work unless it's already installed on the computer. I beleive I downloaded Aperture 2 Trial, but it's no longer available.
How can I move to my new computer?

Try if this download link for the trial version still works: if yes, you can unlock it with your serial number from the boxed version:

  • I am trying to install a registered copy of Photoshop Lightroom that I never installed on my Apple iMac with software version 10.10.  I get the message "Adobe Lightroom 1.  Cannot be installed on this disk because a newer version of this software already

I am trying to install a registered copy of Photoshop Lightroom that I never installed on my Apple iMac with software version 10.10.
I get the message “Adobe Lightroom 1.  Cannot be installed on this disk because a newer version of this software already exists on this disk”
If it is here – I cannot find it anywhere, and I don’t believe that I ever installed it.
I have ordered the upgrade to Lightroom 5.0 and figured that I should install Lightroom 1.0 first.
How can I solve this problem

Actually when LR 5 starts for the first time after it is installed it will have a dialog to Buy, Try or Enter a serial number. You select Enter a serial number and enter the LR 5 serial number first and then because it is an upgrade serial number it will ask for the serial number of a Previous version. You then enter the LR 1 serial number.
