Install 8.0.5 on Redhat 6 problem

During the install of Oracle for Linux 8.0.5 on Redhat 6.0,
it fails halfway thru. It appears that svrmgrl is core dumping.
Does anyone have any ideas on why this is occurring? Thanks.

Actuallly...I screwed up....before applying the patch, read and
follow the README that says you need to install the compat RPMs.
If you don't, the patch fails, even though it says it competed
successfully (and that is what happended to me, but it took a
while to figure it out). The O extension is in fact applied to
the old versions, but it does that even if you screw up. The
difference is that you don't get a working svrmgrl (or others) if
you screw up.

I am currently trying to install Oracle 8.05 onto Redhat Linux 7.1. I can get part of the way through
the installation, however, when it is installing the rdbms portion. I stops with an error about a failure
during relinking. Here is the part of make.log which details what really happened. Could someone tell
me how to proceed.

Well ,I tried to install Oracle 8.0.5 in Debian Potato. At end I desist.
Oracle 8.0.5 works with glibc 5 and Debian Potato with glibc6 .
I guess this is your problem.
There are patches for this but i don't get
to make work.

As the subject line says, I tried installing Oracle 9.2 on
RedHat Linux 7.1 and 9.0, strictly following instructions
written by Werner Puschitz
(http://www.puschitz.com/InstallingOracle9i.shtml). Both
attempts failed with identical symptoms:
- the installer asks for Disk 2
- after the disk is inserted, it hangs. It turns out that
kernel is writing messages similar to these in
/var/log/messages:

Jun 16 02:45:19 boston kernel: attempt to access beyond end of device
Unless interrupted, this continues until the /tmp filesystem gets full.
Has anyone experienced this? I haven't been able to find

Providing a thread-bare configuration of your machine on which you are trying to install Oracle on Linux (and mind you - which kernel/distro, coz that's important) would definitely help you elicit more responses to your messages.

have you tried using open motif 2.1.30?
the open motif version that comes with the redhat 7.3 is 2.2 and is not compatible with 6i. Once I used open motif 2.1.30 it worked fine. The environment variable setting is very similar to any other unix version. Ensure that you are also intalling the latest patch (10) for 6i (fixed lots of problems).

I'm Having a problem installing 9i Rel 2 on Redhat 8.1 beta. Installer crashes when copying README.TXT part of install? Is it failing on the linking part of the install?? Anyone sucessful installing 9i rel 2 on 8.1?

Acrobat Standard 7 has not been tested with Windows 8.1, so it is not compatible.
If you use it only to view PDFs then you can download the Adobe Reader which is a free PDF viewer.

I was given notification to upload the latest version of itunes recently, so I clicked installed. However it has since corrupted my itunes and I get the error message:
"This application has failed to start because MSVCR80.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem".
In poor timing, I have also accidently damaged my phone and have a new one to restore it to an old back up.
It is because of this I am reluctant to completely delete itunes off my computer and start again for fear of losing my back ups.
Is there another way to fix iTunes so I can open it again?

Hey I finally got an older vesion of itunes to work!!! 10.7 x64 for windows 7
After uninstalling all apple products even quicktime
I had to delete everything from (program files, and program files x64, program data,)
And all downloads from apple, and I went in to search deleted other stuff from apple, and itunes
But definently not my itunes library and Playlist
Down loaded 10.7 x64 for windows 7, but checked (do not start when done)
Then I emptied my recycling bin and restarted my PC
I ran geek tech tool box same as reg cure pro, also PC Tools registry cleaner, and CC Cleaner

And wallah... It finally works, and I Love the older version anyways.
Easier to download and transfer music!!!!!

I'm not sure I understand the question, is the message tone going more then once?
Turn off repeat message alert here:
settings > notifications > messages > repeat alert > never
Some people have found this does not stop the repeat miessage tone,
if you are one of those then I suggest you contact Apple:
