Install 9I in Fedora Linux

    Hi,
    I think that Feedbak forum is not the best place for this problem.
    You should ask this into
    => Installation Forum : Database Installation
    or
    => Linux Forum : Generic Linux
    Anyway, you can find an install doc here :

  • Installation problem on fedora linux

    Hi
    I am trying to install oracle 10g to Fedora Linux.
    When I type ./runInstaller :
    Exception java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: /tmp/OraInstall2007-08-21_12-40-12AM/jre/1.4.2/lib/i386/libawt.so:...........................
    Exception in thread main java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError
    Please help me to solve this problem

    Ricardinho,
    try post full error message (or stack trace) because in this case we can only guess...
    Also when you post name of Linux distribution then don't forget post the version.
    Anyway according to partial error message I think there is missing libXp.so.6 library on your OS.
    So execute "yum install libXp" to install required package. Od locate the package on installtion media and install it via "rpm -ivh" command.
    Note: In FC5 and later libXp.so.6 is included in libXp package. In FC4 and older releases you need to install xorg-deprecated-libs package.

    what is the problem please post the solution immediatly.
    Regards,
    Sateesh.

    Dear sateesh,
    could you please explain in more detail what you are referring to when saying
    In our organization sap is installed on fedora linux with 'jre1.6.0_14'
    In this forum, we normally assume that you mean SAP on the server side. But the subject of this thread is called, SAPGUI problem, therefore I assume that you are only facing SAPGUI problems on the client side (and not the server side).
    SAPGUI problem on the Client side:
    For officially supported distributions for the JavaGUI [1] are mentioned in SAP note 959236 - Supported Java frontend platforms for 7.10 / 7.11 / 7.01. This note says that Fedora Linux is supported, so you are on the safe side here.
    Also, the JavaGUI is fully compatible with Java 1.6. I', using the JavaGUI with jdk1.6.0_14 without any problems. I'm using a small script to start the JavaGUI on my machine. You should try it youself. Please note that you have to adept the paths accordingly. Sometimes it happens that some variables are not set correctly. Also, the Java path is very important!
    #!/bin/sh
    # SAP GUI Path
    SGP=/home/hannes/data/progs/sapgui/SAPGUI7.10rev8
    export SNC_LIB=/usr/lib/libsecude.so
    export CREDDIR=/dev/shm/ssoclient-`id -u`
    export JAVA_HOME=/home/hannes/data/progs/jdk1.5.0_16
    export PLATIN_JAVA_VER=1.5.0_16
    export PLATIN_JAVA=$JAVA_HOME/bin/java
    export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$SGP/bin
    $SGP/bin/guilogon

  • Error in installation Oracle 8.1.6 on Fedora linux

    I am getting the following error message while installing Oracle 8i release 2 (8.1.6) for linux intel on Fedora Linux.
    "Symbol errorno, version GLIBC-2.0 not defined in libc.so.6 with link time reference (libzip.so)"
    Earlier I have sucessfully installed on Redhat linux 8.0 without any problems.
    Kindly help

    All the rpms mentioned in above link are already installed. the same error comes with Oracle 9i/AS also.
    I quote here the exact error message:-
    [oracle@sczopngs cdrom]$ ./runInstaller
    [oracle@sczopngs cdrom]$ Initializing Java Virtual Machine from /tmp/OraInstall/ jre/bin/jre. Please wait...
    /tmp/OraInstall/jre/lib/linux/native_threads/libzip.so: symbol errno, version GL IBC_2.0 not defined in file libc.so.6 with link time reference (libzip.so)
    Unable to initialize threads: cannot find class java/lang/Thread
    I don't have newer version of Oracle for linux , but dont think a newer version will solve the above problem as the same message is coming with Oracle 9i/AS also when I tried just to test..
    This may problem with new relase of Linux Fedora with kernel 2.6.2.

  • Dual booting pre-installed Windows 8 and Linux?

    I just bought a G780 with Windows 8 pre-installed. Ideally, I would also like to install some flavor of Linux. I've been searching but not finding much info on how difficult or time-consuming this would be, or if there are any special considerations or anything. I've found some guides on dual-booting Windows 8 and Linux but they were all for installing Windows straight from a disk, not anything where it's already pre-installed, and some indicated they thought it might be problematic to use a pre-installed version of Windows. Anyway I was hoping that if anybody has done this on the G780 or even a similar laptop that you could share how it went and any difficulties you encountered. I'm open to using any Linux distro if it'll be easy to install. I would appreciate any info you could share. Thanks.

    I had issues with Windows 8 as pre-installed on my G580, my employer at the time was using Windows 7 only and would not allow upgrades for security purposes.  I deleted the entire drive (including hidden) knowing at some point I would re-install Windows 8 or later from retail disk when needed.
    Linux can resize partitions during the install process, but be careful not to disturb the hidden partition or the windows boot loader in the process.  Linux Mint is the best yet for this purpose, OpenSUSE and Fedora failed, CentOS failed and Ubuntu was not able to boot, but did not "hurt" the windows partitions.
    Good luck.

  • Installing Sun Portal on Linux

    hi,
    I am installing Sun portal on Linux . When I am trying to configure it during installation it is giving me error like Invalid HostName. But the hostname I have written is exactly same as I have got after running the "hostname" command.
    Kindly provide some help.
    thanks in advance
    dhawanmayur

    thanks for the advice, Wes. received your email.
    was successfully able to get the entire 2005Q4 JES installed on fedora core 3. i belive this has a slightly earlier version (v6?) of the portal.
    decided not to bother with fedora 4, and i do not have a copy of red hat enterprise to install on.
    just a few installation notes for anyone attempting to do this.
    1. make sure selinux is disabled before installing. open /etc/selinux/config and set SELINUX to disabled.
    2. make sure your system has the package compat-libstdc++. specifically, i belive the installation requires libstdc++-6.2.2.
    [root@localhost selinux]# rpm -qa | grep compat-lib
    compat-libstdc++-8-3.3.4.2
    compat-libstdc++-devel-8-3.3.4.2
    [root@localhost selinux]# rpm -q -l compat-libstdc++-8-3.3.4.2
    /usr/lib/libg++.so.2.7.2.8
    /usr/lib/libstdc++-2-libc6.1-1-2.9.0.so
    /usr/lib/libstdc++-3-libc6.2-2-2.10.0.so
    /usr/lib/libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3
    /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.2.7.2.8
    /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.2.8.0
    /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.2.9.dummy
    /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.5
    /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.5.0.7
    [root@localhost selinux]# rpm -qa | grep compat-lib
    compat-libstdc++-8-3.3.4.2
    compat-libstdc++-devel-8-3.3.4.2
    [root@localhost selinux]# rpm -q -l compat-libstdc++-8-3.3.4.2
    /usr/lib/libg++.so.2.7.2.8
    /usr/lib/libstdc++-2-libc6.1-1-2.9.0.so
    /usr/lib/libstdc++-3-libc6.2-2-2.10.0.so
    /usr/lib/libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3
    /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.2.7.2.8
    /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.2.8.0
    /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.2.9.dummy
    /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.5
    /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.5.0.73. make sure korn shell is installed at /bin/ksh.
    4. run the installer utiltiy.
    in my opinion Sun needs to support more than just the list of platforms they give. it's too restrictive and bad marketing in my opinion; all of the other major portals work on various linuxes fine.

  • Logbook: ThinkPad T510 running Fedora Linux

    A few days ago I bought my new shiny ThinkPad T510 (4314-7NU, i5 520M) and what I did the next hour after I turned it on the first time was I removed its Win7 and installed my beloved Fedora 14 (64-bit version).
    Here I'm going to share my experience running this Linux OS on T510.
    So far so good!
    Everything worked just fine right out of the box (WiFi, Fingerprint reader, Bluetooth, Sound&Mic, Camera, suspend mode). The laptop was 100% ready for work the very next minute after the Fedora installation process has finished.
    Bravo Lenovo! Great job Fedora!
    The only issue I faced was a well known CPU whine, but since it's not related to OS I won't bother about this in here.
    (btw, switching Power Management seems to help a enough).
    Stay tuned, I'll be posting about how everything is going

    Hey
    Good to know that every thing works! Do share how the fingerprint reader was configured in Linux...
    Cheers and regards,

  • Nokia CS-10 Fedora Linux, doesn't make detection

    Hi!
    I'm looking for a documentation to install the CS-10 Nokia modem.My OS is Fedora Linux 12.
    I use the scripts of:
    http://www.islascruz.org/html/index.php/blog/show/Nokia-Internet-Stick-CS-10-on-Linux.html
    But, in the first, I don't see the CD drive (the modem, that say the page). I found a probably solution in:
    http://europe.nokia.com/support/product-support/cs-10/software
    I downloaded the rmp package of the page, but I don't see a change.  Firstly, like after, I don't see a CD/DVD drive to unmount or/and eject.
    thnx a lot

    I answer to me
    Firstly, I have the USB modem without a CDROM behavior ( Like is saw in Ubuntu and Debian ). But my Fedora 12 doesn´t.
    I used the advice:
    http://www.islascruz.org/html/index.php/blog/show/Nokia-Internet-Stick-CS-10-on-Linux.html
    But weren't give me a result. I was install
    Before I saw the device with the command "lsusb" like:
    Bus 001 Device 005: ID 0421:060c Nokia Mobile Phones
    Like the reference (in the end of this comment), I write the next code in the /etc/udev/rules.d/
    SUBSYSTEMS=="usb", SYSFS{idVendor}=="0421", SYSFS{idProduct}=="060c", ACTION=="add", RUN+="/usr/bin/eject -s %k", OPTIONS+="last_rule"
    Next I was reboot the machine. Then, I see the device shining the red light, and next the green ( brefore I was config a 3G Telcel connection).

    Hi,
         Exist a way to install the SAPGUI in LINUX? If yes... where I can download and install it? I go to the marketplace but there I find only two.. One for Windows and other for Java..
    Please let me know if someone knows..
    Thx a lot!

    Hello Carlos,
    You should download an install SAPGUI for JAVA on Linux, i had tried this on Redhat Linux , however i tried it long long ago about 5 years ago
    So i do not have a procedure to do it.

    Also read up :

  • How can i install oracle 10g on linux cluster

    Dear all:
    please advice How can i install oracle 10g on linux cluster service ..
    thanks ,,

    Without RAC, you can only have one instance manage the database. One instance = one set of processes communicating via IPC.
    Unless you know of a way to have processes use memory-based IPC across nodes, you need to pick a node and install & run the database software on that node.

  • Error while installing developer 10g on linux suse 10.0

    Hi All,
    This error appears while installing developer 10g on linux suse 10.0
    http://img179.imageshack.us/my.php?image=errorso9.png

    Try locate (using find command for example) the libjvm.so file (I assume that is located somewhere under $ORACLE_HOME (probably jdk or jre directory)). If you locate the path where this library resides, try to add that path to $LD_LIBRARY_PATH enviroment variable.
    Use copy&paste method (for error message) rather than link to image.
    It is much quicker operation and it may help to other people because they be able to find this thread via search engine.

  • Error while installing OWB on Redhat Linux

    Hi,
    I installed Oracle database on Linux , while installing oracle i got error
    error while writing to directory /tmp/OraInstall<date> please ensure that this directory is writable and has atleast 60mb of disk space. Installation can not continue
    then i did some thing and it went thru, now i am trying to install the OWB again i am getting the same error and i was browsing net past 2 days for a solution but i din't get one
    while installing oracle i have not made any notes, that was my mistake
    Please suggest me the possible solution or the Document which can guide me
    Thanks in Advance
    Suresh

    Hi,
    the problem is the logfile for the installation. Every oracle installtion writes a log file with this name in a predefined directory. Make the directory /tmp writable for oracle and extend the disk quota at least 60 MB.
