Install a backup from Elements 6 to 8

Hello,
can somebody  help me in the following problem. I have made a backup of element 6 on an external hard disk. I install this backup on a new notebook on (C:) with element 8. This has worked, the files were also converted. Now the programme is looking for every photo on the hard disk (C:). The photos are not always found and with 15,000 photos it will take a lot of time.
Who can help me?
Michael

  • Install iCloud backup from iPhone 4 6.1.3 to new iPhone 5 6.0.1 won't work.

I'm trying to install my icloud backup from my iPhone 4 os 6.1.3 to my new iPhone 5 os 6.0.1.
When I put in my iCloud info into my iPhone 5, it tells me that no backups are compatible with the iOS of the new phone.
What can I do to get the iCloud backup on my phone (the iTunes backup dates back to septembre 2012 so it's not an option).
    Thank you!

Upgrade your iphone 5 to the newest IOS.  Then you can restore using the iphone 4 backup.

  • Restoring backup from Elements Version 6 to new computer withElements version 9

    IHi There,
I just replaced my old computer that had elements Version 6 to a new Windows 7 machine with Elements 9.  I made a backup from the old system, do I just restore that in the new system to restore all my pictures?
    Thanks

If you made a full back-up in Elements 6 to an external hard disk or a set of CD’s then you can use the restore command in Elements 9.
It’s best to let the program decide the new file structure when restoring to a new location as trying to preserve an existing structure can cause complications - e.g. differing file paths under Windows XP compared with windows 7.

  • My dvd slot for imac10,1 does not work. It rejects the disc. Problem after reinstall of backup from hdd.

My dvd slot for imac10,1 does not work. I had a new harddrive installed in November and the MacStore installed my backups from an external harddrive. I do not use it other than to upload programs, so I have not tried using it until tax season, but it rejects the disc. The ata file indicates no dvd firmware, but the serial-ata does indicate firmware for a dvdrw. What might I do about this to bring the dvd back, least expensive to most?

Yesterday I started having the same problem. Can read disc (play movies and music) but blank disk are ejected or idvd cannot see the blank disk. I have a almost 12 month old 27" i7 imac.

  • How to install a backup on CUCM 6?

    Hi,
I have just upgraded my CUCM from 6.1(4) to 6.1(5) (oh and the inactive partition is every old version of 6.1(3) but there has been a bit of an issue and I need roll back to a pervious version backup.
Thing is all my backup are from version 6.1(4), Therefore can I install the backup from CUCM 6.1(4) straight on to CUCM 6.1.(5) or to I have to downgarde back to version 6.1(4) before I install the backup?
    Cheers for any help

    Hi
You need to restore to the exact version that you backed up from.
Also best to keep your problem in one thread with an accurate description of what you've done rather than open a load of separate ones.

  • Backup from windows photoshop elemets 7 to mac os photoshop elements 10

Has anyone experiences how I can bring my backup, made on my former windows pc vista with the adobe photoshop elements 7.0 to my new iMac with photoshop elements10. The programm say that this ist not compatibel with mac??? I've got more than 40000 pictures
    Thanx
    Wolfgang

You can't, unfortunately. You need to install at least PSE 9 in windows and make a backup with that for the mac version to be able to read it. The format for the organizer database has changed since PSE 7. If you still have access to windows you can install PSE 10 from the boxed version or the trial and do your backup that way. But you will have to have access to a windows version of PSE 9 or 10 to make a backup that the mac version can read.

You don't want to install the software that came with the drive, you don't need it and it will be problematic. Connect the new drive, open Disk Utility, select the new drive and partition it using the GUID partition scheme, then format it as Mac OS extended journaled and it will be easy to use with your Mac.

  • Can't upgrade catalog from Elements 8 -thinks photos are on backup drive...

I've just bought LR3 (and upgraded to latest 3.2 release), and now I want to import all my photos from my Elements 5 collection (just over 10,000 photos - mostly RAW). All the photos are actually stored on a network share from my Windows Home Server machine, all accessible as \\home-server\photos\. Elements 5 has no problems with accessing them this way, and I can also access them fine from Lightroom, but I obviously want to retain all my keywording.
As there doesn't appear to be any way to upgrade a PSE5 catalog to LR3, I followed a recommendation I found on this forum (I think), and have downloaded a trial of PSE8. I have successfully upgraded a copy of the PSE5 catalog to PSE8 format, and then view them all in PSE8, so step one is a success. When I launched LR3, it then gave me a new option to upgrade an Elements catalog - this was a step forward. So, I took the option to upgrade the PSE8 catalog to LR, but after attempting it I see a window that says:
"Lightroom has successfully upgraded one Photoshop Elements catalog photo, but was unable to upgrade 10729 additional photos because the photos were moved to inaccessible Photoshop Elements backup drives. If you wish to manage the Photoshop Elements backup photos in Lightroom, please use Lightroom to import images from the following Photoshop Elements backup discs."
The photos are most definitely not on "backup drives". I've never backed up photos from Elements (my backups are done separately from my Home Server). Lightroom can see the relevant shares, as I've imported a few photos directly onto that share from a card reader, and have also imported some photos on there in a "leave in place", but (as they are RAWs) I don't get any keywording this way.
I'd be most grateful for any suggestions, especially as I won't be able to do anything in PSE8 when my trial runs out....

Thanks for that - that certainly agrees with my findings so far.
Do I take it you've had this confirmed by someone from Adobe then? Is it an intended limitation, or just an acknowledged bug?
I really hope it isn't an intended limitation, as it would mean that this high cost professional-targeted app (LR3) is not capable of something that the consumer level one (PSE8) does with ease. Surely it isn't that unusual to store your photos on a network drive.....
If this isn't likely to be fixed soon I guess I'll have to :
Backup (network drive based) photos and catalog
Use PSE8 to move the whole directory tree to internal hard drive
    Upgrade PSE8 catalog in LR3
Use LR3 to move the whole directory tree back to the network drive
Not ideal, but it should get the job done...
Yes, confirmed by Adobe.  It's a design limitation *of the PSE upgrader*.  You can use LR3 to store images on a network drive, you just can't store the catalog there.  I don't expect this to be fixed soon, so I'd go with the workaround if I were you.
I'm not storing my catalog on the network drive though, just my photos. Even with the catalog on an internal drive, LR3 still fails to upgrade any photos that are on a network drive.
I have though now spoken to a helpdesk chap at Adobe, and he has confirmed that Lightroom is not able to upgrade photos on a network drive. Seems like a really poor show to me, but I don't suppose I can do much about it...

  • I upgraded from elements 10 to 13 today. When PSE 13 was installed, I uninstalled PSE 10. I also own Lightroom 4.4. However, I used to be able to switch from LR4, to PSE 10 now I cannot switch to PSE 13. (Photo Edit In Edit in Photoshop) is grey. Why?

You might also ask for help in the Lightroom forum.
What I have found is that when I upgraded from PSE12 to 13, my Lightroom 5.6 still selected PSE12 in the list of external editors. I had to use the preferences menu to select the right PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe in the Program Files/Adobe/Photoshop Elements 13 folder. I got a message stating that Photoshop Elements was already selected as external editor. In that message box, there is a button with the option to 'change anyway', which I did. Now LR correctly opens PSE13 when I choose Edit in Elements.

I just installed Photoshop Elements 12 upgrade [from Elements 9]. Can I uninstall Elements 9 without any negative effects?

yes, you can deactivate (help>deactivate) and uninstall.
you do/did not even need to have pse 9 installed before installing your ps12 upgrade.  if it's not installed you will be prompted for the pse 9 serial number.

  • Installing OS X from Time Machine Backup. Questions

Hi. I have a quick question.
When you buy a new iMac, and you re-install/restore OS X from a Time Machine Backup taken from another machine, is EVERYTHING copied across?
What I mean is, will it restore the new machine into EXACTLY the same state as the old one? Will it carry across the same OS X version (10.6.2), all the Apps you had installed (and registered), every single detail?

What are Time Machines two restore options?
Here's the situation. I have a brand new 21.5-inch iMac that I would like to get exchanged, because it's faulty. I've put quite a lot of data on the new iMac and I have a Time Machine drive attached to it. It would save me A LOT of time if I could simply restore that data from the faulty 21.5-inch iMac to the properly-working 21.5-inch iMac. So, exact same hardware.
Tell me more about this Backup Utility on the Snow Leopard install DVD. If I perform a restore using that, will it re-install the Operating System, all the Fonts, Apps, EVERYTHING from my Time Machine backup?
yes, everything. but it should only be done on exact same hardware as i said. if you'll get a new mac which is exactly the same hardware as the faulty one then you can use it. to use it boot from the snow leopard install DVd and choose "restore system from backup" from the utilities menu. then just follow the instructions. this will wipe the hard drive and restore your whole system just as it was at the backup time.
if you get a different kind of mac then use setup assistant instead. that will keep your user data, apps, fonts etc but give you a fresh OS.

  • Re-install Snow Leopard from TimeMachine backup

    Hey guys,
What is the advance of re-installing Snow Leopard from a TimeMachine Backup, cause it installs just like before?? Or does it remove some (crap)files??
    Thnx

I backuped my MAcbook (Snow). But it is running a little bit slow, so i want to re-install it from the backup. But I wonder, if i re-install it from the backup. Isn't it slow again, cause It installs all the files back on my Macbook.
If you do a full restore of your system, almost everything will be put back. The only things missing will be the ones that Time Machine excludes automatically: system work files, most caches, your logs, trash, etc. So unless you have a corrupted cache (which is much easier to fix by clearing it), it's not going to help much, if at all. The only exception would be, if your HD is nearly full and badly fragmented, it may speed up a bit, but not for long. A much better solution would be to delete some old stuff.
If you do a new install of Snow Leopard from your Install disc (and load the "combo" update), that will get you a new version of OSX without touching your apps or other files. So if there's a problem with your installation of OSX, that may fix it.
