Install adobe reader: download 'install_reader10 etc' is ok. next step 'install adobe' is not working. what to do?
i would like replace adobe reader 9 with adobe reader 10

and the first time I ran it , the results showed ....

then I re tried it a *second time* and the results were ...

I then tried it a *Third time* and the results were ....

*The volume Macintosh HD appears to be ok*
I then re tried again .... Repair Disk Permissions and got the same warning as before
*First Aid failed*
*Disk utillity stopped repairing permissions on '' Macintosh HD '' because the following error was encountered..*
*The underlying task reported failure on exit*
So still not too sure where to go from here ... any advice please

On a computer running Windows 8 Enterprise, Adobe Reader 11.0.03, and Flash Player 11.8.800.94, I am unable to open a flash-enabled PDF. Reader gives me the error "To view the Flash technology content in this PDF file, please install this version of Flash Player that supports Adobe Reader and Acrobat." Adobe's Flash verification page shows me that Flash Player is working, and I can open other basic PDFs in Reader. I have another machine with an identical setup, except that it has Acrobat 11.0.03 instead of Reader, and the PDF opens just fine on that machine. Why won't Reader open the Flash-enabled PDF?

Highlighting in Adobe Reader 9? I've already enabled highlighting but it does not work!
I've already followed the steps posted here: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/430906 and enabled highlighting under preferences but i'm still unable to highlight or comment.
I am sure the document allows commenting as I was able to highlight and comment using campus computers but not my personal laptop.
Please help! Thanks!The PDF has to be specially enabled by someone using Acrobat in order for that to work.
The campus computers may have a version of Acrobat and that's why you can do it there. -
I downloaded the latest version of Adobe Reader (11.0.07) and installed it. Message said install successful. But APEX learning software does a check to see if my system has Adobe Reader and it says I still need to install it. What's up? This has happened to me numerous times throughout the years. I need to get to the bottom of this problem. Thanks for your help.
You still don't give us the message you are receiving. My guess: you are trying to open a PDF in a browser that uses its own PDF viewer, not the Adobe Reader plugin: http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/pdf-browser-plugin-configuration.html

You don't need Adobe AIR to download or install Adobe Reader.
Try downloading the offline installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/ -

Do I have to buy Acrobat before I can get Adobe Reader? I have an ID and password for Adobe, but when I try to download Adobe Reader it asks me for a password I don't have.

You do. Your system is either Windows or Mac (or maybe a couple of other less popular choices) and a version of one or the other.
When you set up your machine, you were asked for an administrator user name and password. You need both of these to install software. -

I just installed Adobe Reader on my Macbook Air (followed all steps given) and .pdf files still cannot be displayed after I double click on them.
If by that you mean Preview is still opening the files Control Click and HOLD on a .pdf file you'll see Open With (at the bottom) Other Dialogue box. - mouse over to it and before you choose Acrobat click Always Open With in the checkbox.

Which Adobe Reader download works in Windows 95 and 98

A friend uses Windows 95 or 98 and is trying to find a version of Adobe Reader that works on this/these operating systems. If anyone knows the answer (I can;t find it on the Adobe website) please let me know. It would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure if this runs on Windows 95 - try it, but you may even need an older version (I remember using Reader 4.0 at the time). -
When I encounter a site that requires me to fill in a pdf form the browser opens in Adobe Reader and not in the browser. I have checked off in Adobe Reader to open pdf's in browser but it still will not.
I do not think adobe reader works as a plugin for Firefox on Macs, ( but a PC user myself so I can not check). See [[Installing and updating Adobe Reader]]

I need to access a tax form from my state's tax website. The site will not allow Mac Preview to open any pdfs on the site. I already have the latest version of Adobe Reader downloaded on my iMac which is using Mac OS X 10.6.8 The state's support guide says to make certain my internet browser (Safari) is set to open all pdfs with Adobe Reader. How do I do this? Thanks in advance for helping.
I think you solved my problem! Upon following your advice, I first got a message that I had not allowed a connection to the Tax dept computers, which would prevent the file I need to fill out from being e-filed. I proceeded to then open the file at the top of which was a security banner at which I chose the site as safe. I then filled in the first line of the form which autofilled other lines telling me I was connected with the tax site. In a few days when I have the data I need, I will actually attempt to file the return. If there is a problem, I will send another message. Thanks so much for your assistance!

I uninstalled Adobe Air and Adobe Reader and now I cannot reinstall them on the Adobe web site. I go thru the steps on Adobe site and never get a popup to RUN any programs.
Then there is something seriously wrong with either your
browser
Windows
Internet connection
I have just downloaded that installer (on Windows 7, using Pale Moon), and the download completed within less than 10 seconds. And I am some 10,000km away from the Adobe download servers.
Can you try a different browser?
