Install.app is missing

I purchased and downloaded CS5.  I expanded the Photoshop_12_1_LS1.7z file and got: The structure of the archive is damaged (Error #17540).  The ReadMe file says to double-click Install.app, but there is no file by this name on my computer.  I am using Mac OS 10.6.

The .exe file is not executable on the mac machine ....for mac we have the .dmg files.
May be you have purchased the software for windows rather then for mac. hence check the order history in the adobe account to verify.
If in case it is for the windows then you need to contact the adobe support to get the platform swap done, in this they will give you the new serial number and the installation media for mac,
for details look under the link :- http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/order-product-platform-language-swap.htm l

  • Missing the install.app file for Adobe Photoshop CS6 Extended...

Recently, I purchased a new Mac computer. We noticed there was not a CD drive, so we moved the Photoshop files over to a USB from my old computer. But, when we tried to open and install Photoshop, the install.app file was missing. The other install files were only compatible with Windows computers.
Can anyone tell me how to fix this?

Adobe loves confusing people with their marketing copy. Without trying, they often obfuscate the simplest of processes with poor wording.
The platform swap process only applies to perpetually licensed versions since they're tied to platform specific serial numbers: Mac or Windows, never both ( applies to CS6 and lower). Not CC which is licensed for both Mac and/or Windows via your Adobe ID, so there's no platform swapping necessary.
What Adobe is trying to say is that you can only swap platforms for the most current perpetually licensed version.
e.g. CS6 Windows can be transferred to CS6 Mac.
However, CS5 Windows cannot be transferred to CS5 Mac. You must pay the upgrade cost from CS5 to CS6 and swap platforms at the same time (that's a crossgrade). e.g. CS5 Windows to CS6 Mac is OK.
Photoshop CC is entirely different. It is available to anyone but only via subscription, even without ever previously owning any Adobe software. There's no upgrading or crossgrading. You simply join up - but keep in mind that you never own the software.
You don't need CS5 or CS6 to start subscribing to Photoshop CC. There's no connection with your CS5 license other than you can use your CS5 license to get a discounted rate for the first 12 months of CC membership.

  • Address book app is missing; how to install?

    Hi,
After deinstalling the Office 2004 Test Drive software, my addressbook app is missing!
I looked in the apps folder, but its gone. Also i can't find it in the trash....
Now I want to install just the address book app again. How do I do this?
I could not find anything on the apple site or on other apple related sites.
Any help would be welcome !
    Best regards,
    Roeland van Delzen

You can use an application called Pacifist to grab it from the original install media.

  • Apps cannot be installed because of missing signature (non-jailbroken iPhon

I was working on my iPhone 4 with iOS 4.2 (the last one) for a while, when I called my phone operator to unlock the simlock. I followed the procedure, and I saved of my iPhone with iTunes, then restored it, then restored the backup with iTunes (last version). I didn't do anything special but followed the path given by iTunes on a reset / restore procedure.
After the restore procedure, some apps that I have been using for months did not get installed. According to iTunes the two reasons are:
    * Missing signature,
    * or Resources modified.
This also happens with newly downloaded applications after the reset.
My iPhone is not (and wasn't) jailbroken, I never used anything else than iTunes to sync, and I don't understand what happened.
How may I solve this problem, without loosing datas, apps, music or photo libraries, or need to reinstall everything from scratch app per app ?
    Some additional notes:
    * Any app that I download now that doesn't want to install from iTunes, can be correctly installed when downloaded directly on the iPhone. And no sync problems with iTunes.
    * Even updating a working and installed app can cause the problem.
    * New error with an app download from iTunes : "Unknown error 0xE800000B"

I don't know why, but soon after posting this, I found a solution to the problem. The WMI part was solved in this thread:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/953be9ef-e9e3-4885-a5c4-47fc475ba562/dfs-is-not-working-anymore?forum=winserverfiles
    The relevant portion is this:
Open a CMD prompt in %windir%\system32\wbem
    mofcomp dfsrprovs.mof
    net stop winmgmt
    net start winmgmt
    net start iphlpsvc
    net stop dfsr
    net start dfsr
I don't know why recompiling of all mof did not solve the problem, but the solution above did. Restarting the DCs solved the communication issue. I don't know why the primary DC forgot about the WMI DFS provider or why communication failed. However, it is
    working again, it seems.

  • Missing all user-installed Apps after restore after failed 3.1.3 upgrade

I upgraded my 3G to 3.1.3. iTunes (9.0.2.25 on Windows 7 PC) first backed up the iPhone and then proceeded with the upgrade, which failed (never had this happen before) and forced me to do a restore from the latest backup. After the restore, I seem to have all my data in the native apps, but all user-downloaded apps are missing. I expected them to be present after the restore... No???? I didn't keep apps synced back to my iTunes previously. Are they all lost?

Update: I see ~370 megs of 'Other' usage and expect that to be my apps... but don't see any apps still.

  • Adobe Creative Cloud app not displaying already installed apps and can't install new apps Mac OS 10.9

    Hi,
I've been using the new Adobe Creative Cloud 2014 for a couple weeks now perfectly fine, until yesterday. I use Photoshop, Illustrator, and After Effects quite extensively. This morning, I opened the Adobe CC app and all but Adobe Acrobat Pro show installed.  The other already installed apps have buttons to "install" but clicking this button shows the "Exit Code: 7 - Unable to complete Silent workflow" error in the logs. Ive tried disabling my Sophos antivirus program and restarted several times.  The already installed applications themselves seem to function normally, they open and work projects. I've even tried to uninstall one of the already installed programs (Bridge) and it fails to uninstall, saying I need to restart my computer and disengage my anti-virus, which I've done. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the Adobe CC app as well, and have the same result.  Help.

So I've completed the solutions listed in the help article with no changes. Here is how it has gone with each solution listed in the article. Also, it is not clear in the article whether these steps are to be done in sequence or may solve the problem individually, but since Solution 1 fails for me, doing them in sequence was impossible.
Solution 1: Mac OS: Run the uninstaller in the Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers folder to remove the program listed as up-to-date.
This does not work because uninstalling any of these applications does not work. As I stated in the post, the uninstaller for all of my adobe applications (photoshop, bridge, indesign etc) throws the same error each time saying I need to: restart my computer (done) close all applications (done) and disable my antivirus (done, which was fully engaged when I installed the apps originally with no issue) and disable my firewall (done, I don't use one). Not sure what I'm missing on that, plus its a real bummer that I need to reinstall all of my CC apps even if the uninstaller did work because my creative cloud app won't recoginize they've been installed.
Solution 2: Remove the OPM.db file and relogin into the Creative Cloud desktop application using the Adobe ID tied to your subscription.
    This did nothing.
Solution 3: Download and install the latest version of Adobe Creative Cloud desktop app from Creative Cloud for desktop.
    This did nothing.
Solution 4: See the steps listed in Solution 1 to remove all installed Adobe Creative software. Once all Adobe Creative software has been removed, use the CS Cleaner Tool to ensure a complete removal.  You can find details in Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6.
This did not do much because I can't uninstall the software to begin with.
    What am I missing?

  • Installing apps from non-admin account

I read an earlier post that installing apps from a non-admin account is a bad idea because SL applies the wrong permissions. I normally install from a non-admin account.... I don't see that the permissions on stuff I've installed are any different from apps that came with SL. Most everything is drwxr-xr-x. Was this fixed, or am I missing the problem.

    KJK555 wrote:
+"That isn't a problem at all. Applications should not require that the user have write+

I didn't say anything about a user having write access permission, I was talking about read
permissions. All apps installed in the /Applications directory should have group permissions
set to admin or wheel (depending on the type of app), so the system can read them without
    problems. That's the Unix way.
I completely disagee. The system already has read permission to all applications in the /Applications folder. It doesn't matter what the group privilege is set to. The "other" permissions are set to read only. System (root) can read it regardless. If you can show me an Apple tech article that says that apps installed in the /Applications folder should have their group privilege changed to "admin" or "wheel" then I would gladly take that back.
+"Leopard does not put any ACLs on anything installed in the /Applications folder"+
That's right, it doesn't normally, but if it finds an app that it does not have permission
to read, it will assign an ACE(s) to it so that it can access it.
I just tested that in 10.5.8, and it does not happen as you say. I can't try it in 10.6. I'd appreciate if you could provide a specific example where you can make this happen.
Besides, all users, by default, have read only access to all applications. Unless a user specifically changes permissions on an app to deny read access to everyone, then this isn't an issue.

I know what ACLs are and how they work. I have read through those and cannot find in any of those threads anything about what you had been talking about.
+"That is also false. Root rights are granted by the user entering the admin username+

    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2963

A third-party application installer incorrectly sets permissions on the files it installs,
or even the entire Applications folder. Symptoms of the Application folder's permissions
being set incorrectly include applications appearing in the dock as question marks, and/or
not being able to connect to the Internet. It is also possible that software installed while
logged in as one user will be inaccessible when logged in as another. To avoid this, make sure
you are logged in with your normal user account when installing software that you wish to use
    with that account."
That has to do with third party installer apps that developers have not written properly to conform to OS X standards. It isn't an issue with applications that install by drag-and-drop. It sounds to me like you have looked at the permissions that Apple has put on its own apps and jumped to the conclusion that third party apps won't work unless they have the exact same permissions applied to them. That simply isn't true.
    "Software access=user access
Most applications executed by a user only have access to the files that the user has access to.
Backup software, for example, may not back up Mac OS X system files that have root ownership."
Utilities, especially disk utilities, are to be installed in the /Applications/Utilities folder, for reasons
    stated above.
No. That is completely wrong. Like I said earlier, an application is given root permission by user authentication. It matters not one little bit what the application's enclosing folder is. I personally have no third party apps in /Applications/Utilities; just what Apple puts there as part of a standard OS X installation.

    http://www.bombich.com/mactips/image.html
    http://mostlyslow.blogspot.com/2009/04/technical-mac-os-x-permissions-issues.htm l
Have you even read those? I suggest that you do; because most of what you have written about how file/folder/application permissions in OS X is completely wrong.

  • List installed apps

I've searched for what I'm after many times with no luck. Simply put, I would like a list of the apps in my iTunes library and alongside each app, I'd like to see whether or not it is installed on my iPhone or iPad. I can get all of the information separately, but not together. Why you ask? Because I'd like to clean up my iTunes library as I've got lots of apps that I've tried but will never use again.
I can see a list of all the apps in my iTunes library in iTunes of course and I can output that list as a pdf so the data resides somewhere but I don't know where. I can see the list of installed apps in iTunes of course, but it's not a list where I can easily capture or list all the names. I can look at the contents of manifest.plist in ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/<some code>/manifest.plist. It's in a form of XML but I don't have the technical knowledge to extract the app names.
I'm a business application developer but never learned low level languages (started with COBOL and went into 4th generation languages). From a business appliccation perspective, if I could get the iTunes data in a one row per app structure and the installed app data in a one row per app structure, I could load both lists into database tables and product whatever reports I need.
Any suggestions? Have I missed something obvious (wouldn't be the first time).
    Thanks in advance
    Bob

Thanks cheonweb. I never thought of this. In taking a look at what I have in my iTunes app library, I have 1326 apps listed. However I have 1347 .ipa files in Mobile Applications. I then tried to look inside a .ipa file and it turns out it's a form of zip file. I then searched to find how to extract information from the file, specifically I wanted the app name, as opposed to the file name. I found a technique here:
    http://www.earthinfo.org/extract-metadata-from-apple-ipa-files/
I tested it on a single file and it works. So now I can get the app name correclated to the .ipa file name. Then, having cheonweb's idea, I also found an expansion of that idea here
    http://blog.macsales.com/17825-an-easy-way-to-clear-out-unused-ios-apps-from-itu nes-11
My plan is something like this:
Extract the app name from each .ipa file and record the app name and the file name. I'll also record the app names that iTunes has listed.
Next I'll make a copy of everything in Mobile Applications. I can always download again, but you never know.
Then, making sure that all my devices are detached and not syncing via anything like WiFi, I'll delete all the apps using iTunes. I'll then be able to see what's left over, apps that I probably deleted but didn't say move the file to the trash. I'll extract the app name and the filename and save that for later cross referencing. I'll move these files someplace even though I've already got a backup. Often it's easier to clean things up at the file level.
Next, with an empty Mobile Applications folder and iTunes app list, I'll attach one of my devices and Transfer Purchases. This will give me a list of all the Apps on that device. I'll run the extract again so I've got an app name and file name reference. Then I detach that device. I'll use a file compare utility to ensure that all of the apps on that device were actually in Mobile Applications. I could copy these files to a temp holding area as well.
I'll then delete the apps from iTunes and repeat for each other device I have. I should then have a series of folders with the files originally in iTunes as well as those on each device. I'll also have a file with the app name and file name. I could run a number of text comparisons or load all the data into a database or spread sheet to cross compare.
Looking over this, it may just be easier to do a file to file comparison and use the original extract of app and file name.
This looks like quite a bit of work considering I have 4 devices and in some cases I have to ensure that older versions don't get deleted. I'll have to think about that one.
There may be an easier way, but at least now there's a way. I'll let you know what I end up doing.

Change the date in the device to before July 23rd, 2013.  Turn off "Network Time" if using a phone.
Open the App Cat app and search for the word "update".  When located, tap the Free button, the Launch button when done downloading.
If the above does not work, change the date and reboot the device, then try again.
