How to install boot camp on a Mac mini? It ask for a bootable DVD which I have inserted in my Mac book pro, but it does not recognize the DVD. How can I install boot camp on a mini?

The Mac mini 2011 model does not have a DVD drive. It is possible to install Mac software over the network using another Macs DVD drive but this will not let you install Windows.
You need to either use an external DVD drive and connect it to the Mac mini, or for Windows 7 it is possible to copy the installer on to a USB memory stick, boot from the memory stick, and run the install from that.

That's because the Boot Camp volume was created, but your Mac hasn't been set up to start automatically from the Windows disc. Insert the Windows DVD and press C key while your Mac is starting to start Windows installation.
If you want to make sure that everything is correct, open Boot Camp Assistant and choose the option to remove Windows 7. Then, open that application again, select the option to install Windows 7 and you will be able to install Windows as usual

No. Windows cannot boot from nor be installed on an external drive. That said, in the Windows world there are ways to put a bootable Windows installer on a flash drive. But you will have to find those on your own.

Can't see Windows 7 Boot Camp partition from Mac

I've had a Win7 boot partition on my 2011 MBP for a while and it boots just fine. I have a Mac boot partition, a Mac data partition, and a NTFS Win 7 partition. But the Boot Camp partition is greyed out and invisible when booted in to the Mac.
When in Windows, I can see and use the Mac partition from Win7 with MacDrive. The problem is that I cannot see the Windows partition from the Mac. I have Paragon NTFS for Mac installed as well as MacFuse. I tried to see the partition with CampTune and got this error:

Yet when booted in Windows, I see the Mac partition just fine.

Does anyone know if I can repair this without having to re-format? I have a 13" White MacBook as well and this setup works just fine. I did it such a long time ago that I forgot how I did the first one.
There is another thread on here that similar but not quite like my problem because I ca actually boo into Windows.
If anyone can help it would certainly be appreciated!

Help with Boot Camp Internet Drivers (Mac Mini 2011)

Hi all- I've come here looking for some help / advice with regards to internet access on Boot Camp I have recently installed.
I have recently bought a Mac Mini i5 2011, and installed Windows 7 onto it. When I run OSX, I can access the internet with no issues, however when in Boot Camp, I come up against problems with Broadcom drivers and being able to connect.
I have put my Snow Leopard disc (from the MBP I'm transferring from) into my superdrive, and installed the 64-bit drivers.
I've also installed Boot Camp 3.1 and 3.2 updates.
I have also tried installing the Broadcom wireless n drivers after searching for them in the list.
Plugging an ethernet cable into the router doesn't work either, and I'm beginning to run out of options to try.
Re-installing Windows hasn't worked.
Any help will be appreciated, hope I'm not the only one to encounter this issue!

Google is your friend. An OEM DVD from another Mac is not though would think/hope - and forget reinstalling.
Blame Apple. Goes same for audio, graphics.
Broadcom drivers search on this forum.... should find lots of folks running into issues.

Can i "copy" a 200 GB boot camp partition from Mac Pro to MBP?

i spent a lot of time working with virtual machines and i have decided i simply have to increase the size of my mac pro HD and put a boot camp partition in it.
can i COPY a 200 GB windows 7 boot camp partition from my 1 TB Mac Pro drive to a 200 GB partition on my MBP that will have a 500 GB drive?
this would let me focus on doing a full install and full setup on the Mac Pro and just copy this over to the MBP (when i get the new drive) saving me a ton o time.

Emagic drivers & Boot Camp on a Mac mini

If you were to install Windows Vista on a Mac mini and had say a AMT8, would you be able to use that when under Boot Camp? Vista seems to require digitally signed Vista-compatible drivers.
LP7.2 already has Intel drivers.
Perhaps the next update will have newer drivers for if someone has to use Boot Camp-but mostly rarely.

I don't expect Apple to provide new Windows drivers for an obsolete Emagic interface, and an OS X driver won't work.

How do I install Boot Camp on my Mac Book OS X10.4 (Book camp not included in the computer)

I have a Mac Book with OS X 10.4, i.e., Boot Camp is not installed on the computer. I had Boot Camp installed and was using Windows, but it crashed, so I want to remove it and reinstall. I have downloaded the Boot Camp 3.3 drivers. Where do I go from here?

Also: Boot Camp was a beta through v1.4 for Tiger (OS 10.4.6+). As a beta, it no longer exists and isn't supported (as of 9/2007)
You need at least Leopard (OS 10.5+) to get an official release, and to get the upgrade to Snow Leopard by itself. This can be hard-to-find outside of second-hand online markets. Leopard's last known box update carried 10.5.4. The 2008 Mac Box Set may have carried a later version . Either way, you'd get Boot Camp 2.0-2.2
Snow Leopard v10.6.3 is the current retail box update, and the last on DVD. This should give you Boot Camp 3.0.
The current 3.x update for Macs not qualified to run Windows 7 is 3.2. If you have a Mac that is Windows 7-qualified, you then update to 3.1 or 3.2--and finally to 3.3 only if you have Win 7 installed.
All Windows 7-qualified Macs can run Lion, and Boot Camp 4.x by extension. The only such Macs based on Tiger were:
MacBook Pro (mid/late 2007)
Mac mini (mid 2007)
iMac (mid 2007 aluminum finish)
All other Macs with Tiger do not qualify for Win 7, though some can run Lion while still running Boot Camp 3.2 as above.

Install Boot Camp Partition without Home Folder

Hello!
I have a Early 2011 MacBook Pro and wish to install Windows 8.1 using Boot Camp. The problem is I have replaced my optical drive with another hard drive (to be specific I replaced my HDD with an SSD then the optical drive with the HDD). With my Mac model it isn't possible to install Windows with a USB (I have tried :/). My current plan is to put my optical drive back in (because you can't use an external optical drive) and install Windows to a partition of the SSD. The trouble is my Home folder is on the HDD, which I need to remove.
What is the best thing to do? Can I boot up OSX and install Windows without my home folder? Should I temporarily move my home folder? Should I create a new temporary user? Or is there some hack that will actually work that doesn't require opening up my Mac again?

The choice to install Windows is an invitation to security risks. It does not mean OS X does not have its own security risks. All OSes do. Windows has more widespread malware, viruses, etc. Windows has read-only access via Apple HFS+ driver to OS X volumes (this is installed as part of Bootcamp Drivers package).
You have two choices,
1. Install FileVault2 - OS X: About FileVault 2 - Apple Support.
2. Convert your HFS+ volumes to CoreStorage. See the help about diskutil cs convert. Please also see https://developer.apple.com/library/mac/documentation/Darwin/Reference/ManPages/ man8/diskutil.8.html

Are you getting a white screen after the Mac reboots? If so, try disconnecting all non-essential USB/FW devices.
I had the exact same problem and I went through a long, stressful process of elimination to get it working, even to the extent of using my MacBook as an external drive through target disk mode!
It turned out to be my iMage USB camera. Even after successfully installing Windows I have to disconnect it before using Bootcamp.

I have tried a different monitor. What can I do to get windows installed?

I asked because with Disk Utility you have to use the slowest burn speed, and Windows is 3.4GB (DVD size).

If for some reason you downloaded Windows from Microsoft instead of buying a package with a disc, you need to download the ISO version and burn it to a DVD. How do install windows hard drive (from dead pc) into boot camp partition

My Windows 7 desktop died recently, so I took the opportunity to buy a Mac Mini (latest version as of Feb 2012) as a replacement. I want to transfer the Windows 7 installation (from the dead PC) including all applications, accounts, settings, user files, etc to the Boot Camp Partition. Can someone please provide the steps on how to perform the Win 7 migration to the Mac Mini.

Just to clarify:
I want to install the Windows 7 installation from dead the PC into the Mac Mini's Boot Camp partition.
I installed the PC's hard drive into an enclosure and connected it to the Mac Mini via the USB port.
What I want to do is the following:
1) Do a Windows 7 "fresh" install in the Mac Mini Boot Camp partition.
2) Migrate all the applications installed on the Windows 7 PC and their associated data.
3) Migrate all user accounts and data.
Is there a tool that can transfer all applications and user accounts from the Windows 7 Hard Drive to the Boot Camp partition on the Mini?
Based on the documentation the Window Migration tool is Lion OS utility and does not perform a complete migration of all applications installed on the Windows machine.

Unable to install Boot Camp and Windows 8.1 on Mac Mini

My computer is a late 2012 mac mini with fusion drive. OS is OSX 10.9.1. Also an apple external optical drive and a Windows 8.1 full install DVD. I attempted to install Boot Camp and Windows 8.1 and failed.
I ran Boot Camp Assistant and first problem was when it rebooted the computer - I got a text message that said the OS was missing. After a while I tried holding down the Option key while rebooting, then I got several choices to boot from - I chose the windows disk, and windows installation started.
I was eventually given a list of 6 or 7 partitions to chose from, to install windows into. I settled on the one marked BOOTCAMP. It seemed the best guess. But the installer said that it could not install on this partition. Something about the wrong format or EFI or boot partition(s)?? In fact, the installer would not let me install into any of the listed partitions.
I restarted Boot Camp and it allowed me to remove the boot camp partition and revert to OSX only. Thanks for that!
My questions: is Windows 8.1 supported with my configuration? I know the FAQ says it is not. If in fact it is, did I do something wrong?

Poking around, I found an installation manual which was downloaded to my USB drive with the boot camp windows drivers. It says that when I reached the point in the windows installer where I'm given a choice of partitions, I should choose the one marked BOOTCAMP, and format it. Which I didn't think to try before. So I tried again, using Boot Camp Assistant from the top.
Failure again. This time, when the computer rebooted, I selected the Windows icon as before, but I got a text message saying that the boot manager couldn't be found, and a dead stop.
I also found that on the option-key reboot disk selection screen, I could eject the windows install disk and reinsert it. When I did that, I got the Windows boot icon and another icon labeled EFI boot. So I also tried that icon, with the same result.
So, I'm doing exactly what I did before (I think), but now the windows installer won't start.
