Install cf8 standard edition with remote apache?

I am interested in installing cf8 standard edition on a stand
alone server on a windows (win2003 standard 64 bit) box. An Apache
web server (centOS 5) and a mysql will be another two separate
servers.
So, I am wondering if this infrastructure is OK? I never
tried them like this. I'd appreciate if anybody may share practical
experience. Thanks.

Have you had any luck with this? I'm pursuing a similar
configuration. It should be pretty straight forward since this is a
pretty normal set up, but the doc is limited.
It doesn't help that the connector for Apache seems to be
buried in the Linux install, which doesn't help when CF server was
installed on a Windows box. Am I missing something?

I have to install:
2 nodes in RAC configuration with Standard Edition in active/passive configuration.
License per CPU.
Do I need license for both nodes?
If not, is anywhere official note about this situation?
There is no word about it in Oracle Technology Global Price List.

The [Software Investment Guide|http://www.oracle.com/corporate/pricing/sig.html] has some more information on this. It mentions that you only have to license one host in a 'failover' configuration where 'nodes are arranged in a cluster and share one disk array' as long as you use the second server for a maximum of 10 days per year. However, they don't mention RAC, only Oracle Failsafe, so it is not really that clear (to me).
You should discuss this with your Oracle (or Oracle Partner) sales rep.

Anyone using ms sqlserver standard edition with XI 3.0

wondering if anyone is successfully using ms sqlserver standard edition (not enterprise edition) with XI 3.0. I would like to set up a dev/test XI system and the standard sqlserver edition is less expensive than enterprise edition. I would like to confirm that it works ok first.

-oracle net configuration assistant succeeded , but
oracle database configuration assistant failed unfortunately !!

2) I bet that you did not follow Installation Guide & complete all prerequisites.
3) SQL*Net is not required to manage, start, or use local Oracle DB

if it is worth upgrading SQL server to the following:

PowerPivot for SharePoint is a feature available only if SQL Server Enterprise Edition and Business Intelligence Edition is used. Reporting Services of SQL Server Standard has also some limitations that will impact SharePoint 2013.
Additionally, SQL Server Standard Edition do not offer AlwaysON, database snapshots and online index rebuild.
To me, the biggest difference between SQL Server 2012 Standard Edition and SQL Server 2014 Standard Edition is that SQL 2014 Standard now supports 128 GB of RAM. SQL Server 2012 Standard is limited to 64 GB.

If you are referring to Oracle XE database as opposed to APEX then the answer is yes. Just be sure to assign the Oracle Standard Edition to a different "Oracle Home".

Ifs install on Nt workstation with remote repository

When running the Ifs configuration tool it fails with :-
The following error occurred
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError.

Downgrade to SQL 2014 Standard edition after "accidental" install of Enterprise?

Hi,
After installing the umpteenth SQL server on autopilot, i realized that i installed a standard edition with an enterprise ISO.... stupid me, and i got my fair share of laughs from my colleagues (and then some) :)
But i was wondering.... since i have not installed or used any Enterprise features, a downgrade should be possible right?
Being a lazy bastard or time efficient nerd (take your pick), i fired up setup again, and i got to this screen.... and i was stumped.... the downgrade path is valid, the rule passed, so why can't i downgrade?
I know i can re-install to get it to work, but why can't i downgrade?
A downgrade also comes in handy sometimes when customers want to downsize a server from Enterprise OLTP to Standard OLTP, or when some stupid yahoo like me installed Enterprise for OLTP DEV / TEST, where Standard is more than enough.
Any ideas anyone?

So why not make it possible....?
This question you should ask to Micrsoft team( I am not aware why they made restriction) . It would be premature for you to comment that 'code base for Stand and Ent are same'. Its not an open source whoes code you can see and can make changes( Like Unix
and Linux )
I am sure if you ask this question to MS they wont give any Geeky reply to you they woudl just say its how we work and have designed.

hi Doug! For the sole purpose of database test you have other option like install Oracle 8i Personal Edition on Win98 or you can install 8i Standard Edition with Custom installation; So Just Custom install without Net8/Network support.

Oracle 10g standard edition installation and problems with logon (help pls)

I installed 10g standard edition, however I got the following two messages during installation:
1) The host IP address can not be determined
2) Missing or Invalid password ...
Eventhough I unlocked all the passwords during install (tiger/scott, sys, system, etc) I can not logon now with none of them ("invalid username/password: logon denied"). I also get "ORA-12170: TNS: Connect Timeout Occured" when trying to lgoon with my email addr and password used for installation.
Please help, this is frustrating. Thx!
P.S> Do I need to input anything in the "Host String" box ?

Chances are
1) you are using WIndows of some sort;
2) your machine does not have a static IP address (you are using DHCP);
3) you have not installed the loopback adapter, as desrcibed in the installation document.
You may want to review the Oracle Database 10g (release whichever you are using) "Installation Guide" manual for your operating system again. I think you missed a step.

How to install Standard Edition One?

I downloaded 10g (10.2.0.1) for Linux x86 and it says it contains Enterprise, Standard and Standard Edition One inside. Once I started installation I had option to install Enterprise or Standard, no option for Standard Edition One.
Did I miss something?

Standard Edition One IS the STandard Edition with an added moral obligation to not out it on a machine with more than 2 sockets.

Cf8 dev edition install on mac intel os x tiger fails

Installing CF8 developer edition w/built-in server on macbook

but get a "JRun Servlet Error": "500

I had the same problem - mine was because of the
adminconfig.xml doesn't properly update once the install was done.
Go into your Coldfusion 8 folder. Then go into folder named
"lib" - then open adminconfig.xml. In the xml, you will see this
<runsetupwizard>true</runsetupwizard> but it should be
this
<runsetupwizard>false</runsetupwizard> (since
there is no need for a runsetupwizard once it is installed
already).
You should be good to go then.

Installed CF8 and now Flex application throwing error

I've just installed CF8 developer edition, and now I've tried
creating a new Flex application, which has nothing in it, just an
empty Main.mxml file, I did set ColdFusion Remoting as the way the
application will access data, through the project setup wizard.
Now when I run the application I get this error message:

The other odd thing is I have some Flex apps which I built on
CF7, which I then imported to CF8 and they work fine running on
CF8, its only new projects which fail.
If I create a new project which doesn't use ColdFusion
remoting, the Flex application works fine. So something is a miss
with the remoting connection I think.
Any ideas?

For me exactly the same problem. I need it to connect to my school's intranet.
I think it means either waiting for an update, or somehow find a way to use the build in VPN functionality of Leopard instead.
