Recently i have installed 10g+10.2.0.4 patch on windows 2003 server and by mistakenly i didnt installed(NCOMP,ORACLE INTERMEDIA) from companinon cd.
and i have created database and imported data from source server. is it possible to install components now???

Yes. You can install companion products later. You need to apply patchset after install again. Also note there is patchset 4 aka 10.2.0.5 available.

Apache from Companion CD is not starting?

I have installed oracle 10.1.0 db and then tried to install Apache from Companion CD, but at the time of starting Apache it generates an error and shows windows error (Windows XP SP3).
I switched off the firewall and added oracle directory to kaspersky trusted directory, but invain.
I reinstalled the db and apache also in vain.
Finally I restored an image of my system and tried also but the same problem.
Is it from the version or copy of the cd or something else . . . ?

Could you specify the error you get? This makes it much easier to diagnose your problem. Very often a misconfiguration of httpd.conf is causing all the troubles.

Hello all,
I'm going to install http server from companion CD.
In the first step: Specify File Locations
Enter or select a name for installation and the full path where you want to install the product. By default, in my pc, Oracle use:
Name: OraDb10g_home1
Path: E:\oracle\product\10.1.0\Db_1
My question is, while installing 10g, the above name: OraDb10g_home1 was already used. Should I choose another name and path for the new installation of companion CD?
Answer: I used different name and path
Also from my previous installation of companion CD, I found there are two products for installing, one is http server, the other one is (sorry I forgot).
Should I only choose the option of http server ? I'm going to install html db 2.0 after installing http server.

Hi Geostc,
XML DB HTTP Server is not required when you are using Oracle 10g. It is only required when you are using Oracle 11g. So, uninstall this component from your database, and follow the steps given in the URL below:

Problems with OPMN from Companion CD (Oracle 10g R2 x86_64 RHEL4)

I have installed Oracle 10g DB R2 64bit on RHEL4 x86_64 (AMD64) and HTTP-Server from Companion CD
All works.
But after running opmn appears problems:
1. The system message to syslog: "ip_conntrack: table full, dropping packet"
2. 'netstat -a' displays me thousands TCP-session on localhost to port 6100 in TIME_WAIT state
And network services on my host more died than alive...
If I increase ip_conntrack kernel parameter, then network state alive. But the problem with TCP-sessions is not resolved.
Any ideas?

P.S. I have RHEL4 without update 1, but with new kernel and patched binutils. Update of RHEL can resolve this problem?

But this document applies to Oracle Net Services - Version: 10.1.0.2 to 10.1.0.3.
I have Version 10.2.0.1.0 and the problem apears again (with some symptoms are differ).

Installing PKGS from CD

I am finding when using the install program in CDE that instead of installing any PKGS that it says " Not Installed" instead of installing them. & then I have to close program , is there a reason it wont install any PKGS after selecting them from catorgories? Just wondering If I have to enable something or rather etc?

I am having the same problem. After installing Solaris 10 and the Software Companion CD while installing the entire Sun Operating System and rebooting my machine after it tells me the packages from the software companion cd were installed correctly. After the reboot, I login as as root and open the console. I type the various commands like pine, or pico, emacs, etc and then it states
emacs: not found
I did a search in the various directories where the packages should have been installed and they are there.
Is there something else that I need to do in order to access these applications? I have searched through documentation on the Sun Website and have done google searches to see whether there was any documentation stating whether anything extra in addition to installing the software companion cd was required to access the packages, but on every search through the documentation and through other websites describing the Solaris 10 install including the software companion install, they explain it like the software companion install process should be rather easy, like as easy as just install it and your done.
I have the Solaris 10 X86 version running on an Intel Pentium 4 1700 MHZ machine. I also installed the correct version of the software companion cd, the Intel X86 Solaris 10 Software Companion CD.
I dont mean to be rude or so critical either but there is nothing stated about how to deal with this in the documentation. Its also logical that if the Solaris 10 OS install process includes the software companion cd, that it should have automatically configured the environment variables for each package installed otherwise there is no point in having the system installer install the software companion packages if the user has to manually configure each environment variable for each package installed.

How do I install windows from USB on Macbook pro 3,1 ?
My Superdrive is far from super anymore, So I managed to make an extern drive with both Snow Leopard Partition, Lion Partition (Since I thought Boot Camp 4,1 would bypass my problem), and Time Machine partition, Since I got 1. USB drive that works.
- My general issue is that Boot camp Refuse to see the USB drive - (Many "how to"´s though show how they install windows perfectly through the USB port, but they use airbooks!, and somehow the Macbook will not ?)
I fix that issue with >> rEFIt <<, that suddenly makes it possible for the Mac to see the USB drive, and partitions.
Which was very strange since I could use an extern HD with the whole installation to start up wipe the whole disk, and then use my extern drive with partitions to install Snow Leopard and get everything as before with timemachine. Very smart with timemachine, but very lucky that I have a extern drive that runs the whole system and that I made the partitionsdrive before. DVD-drives are the past!
Point: So the original system could see the Snow Leopard installation USB disk, but boot camp cannot find the USB drive ?????????
After rEFIt I booted and then I got this error:
Starting bootmgr.efi
Error: Unsupported while loading bootmgr.efi
I read it could be a problem with the Windows software, so I purchased an extern DVD drive, Used Disk Utility to make an image (.DMG), then used another program to convert the .dmg to .ISO.
Then downloaded a trialversion of vmWare fusion, and installed windows from the iso. Everything worked brilliant, except and that is why I want to use boot camp, Running windows in another program while running the mac system is a little hacky and slow.
Point: Nothing is wrong with the windows software, and windows runs fine.
I then downloaded the Windows DVD / USB Tool, reformatted a USB drive as Master Boot Partition, MS-Dos Fat partition, then after lots of struggling got Vmware, windows to recognise the USB drive. And installed the windows software on the USB drive, as all the walkthroughs recommend.
Then I tried for "fun"! to just install windows form the extern USB drive, and with rEFIt it will see the drive and start to do something, but then when it starts to boot, the screen just turns into black and nothing happens, and you can see the drive does NOTHING. (I think it is because I only have 1 USB drive and the Extern DVD drive does not get enough power, but again the mac refuse to see the USB drive unless it is a Snow Leopard installation USB-drive!
Well trying to install Windows Ultimate 64 Bit, which worked great in vmware, because that program installed from the .ISO file that I had on the desktop, but trying with Boot Camp did not get anywhere, what kind of **** program is this boot camp anyway!?, but then I try the new USB disk with windows made from windows, thorugh rEFIt, it sees the disk and then starts and then I get this ERROR:

The firmware refused to boot from the selected volume. Note that external hard drives are not well-supported by Apple´s firmware for legacy OS booting

So how do I do it ? - or is the only option to fix the partition running the system from the extern disk. Format the whole drive in 2 from the "bottom" and install windows and then afterwards install Mac on the other partition ? Or just run windows on the mac and forget about mac software ? What a stupid solution...

There are strings in the pliist file to add other Macs so that you can use some USB-DVD drives.

And on PC booting Windows from a USB DVD to do the install is usually a piece of cake, sometimes you just need to specify that USB in the BIOS boot order and sometimes select via F12 (or another Fkey) and that is it.
What you have here seems to be everything and everyone is excluded unless there is a mac-model device ID string that specifies yes. An unnecessary hurdle.

Is it possible to boot to a Windows 7 install DVD from an external USB drive on current iMacs?

On the iMac I'm currently using, a mid-2007 24-inch, it's impossible to boot into a Windows install DVD from an external drive: I can hold down option on boot, and all my hard drives come up, but if the Windows disc is in my external DVD drive, it won't show up. I'll soon be upgrading to a late 2012 iMac, and I'd like to be able to install Windows 7 for a boot camp partition. Since that iMac has no built in drive, I'd like to know if using an external DVD drive will work on that model. I'd like to do that, seems easier than messing around with disk images. But we'll see...

You can use an external optical drive to install Windows without any problem with a Late 2012 iMac.
The reason that you couldn't install Windows from an external optical drive on the 2007 iMac is that it has got an internal SuperDrive, so Apple only allows you to use it to install Windows on your iMac

If your account is disabled then you might be able to re-enable it via this page : http://appleid.apple.com, then 'reset your password'
You might then need to log out of your account on your phone by tapping on your id in Settings > iTunes & App Store and then log back in so as to 'refresh' the account on it
If that doesn't fix it then you might need to contact iTunes Support : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page

My Mid-2011 Macbook Air becomes extremely hot when installing apps from the Mac App Store and when deleting apps

My Mid-2011 Macbook Air 13-inch (OSX 10.8.1 Mountain Lion) becomes hot to the touch when trying to delete large documents, watching videos after waking it from sleep-mode and when installing applications from the Mac App Store. This has also been happening with OSX Lion before I upgraded it to Mountain Lion.

When offering advice in the ASC, my comments are not meant to be anything more than helpful and certainly not to be taken as insults.
What needed to be done the day that you set up the new Mac was go into the Mac App Store (MAS), sign into your iTunes/MAS Apple ID, go to the Purchases pane and Accept the iLife apps that would have been there in a special section. That would have sent you Mac's unique identifier code to Apple's servers and verified that this Mac was eligible for the bundled iLife suite and then registered these apps into your MAS account.
You might try going to ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore/adoption.plist, delete the adption plist, restart the Mac and then go to the Purchaes pane and see if you can Accept the apps into your account.

Installed apps from Macbook Pro Tiger disk to a Powerbook G4

I bought a used powerbook G4 that came with Tiger installed, but no tiger disk included in the sale (so i'll have to buy my own copy of it if i want to reinstall anything). Everything on the machine worked perfect... until one day.... okay here's the dumb thing i did: My friend has a new Macbook Pro (with Intel) and i hoped i could install programs from his Tiger disk that i didn't have on my computer (like Garage Band). So i put in his Tiger disk that came with his Macbook Pro (even though someone had advised me that it wouldn't work on a G4!) and in it i found a package of optional applications. I couldn't find and select Garage Band separately on the disk so i decided to just install all optional apps from that package. I figured my computer wouldn't let me even start all this if the Tiger disk was incompatible with my G4. Well, it did proceed along and I watched as it installed a bunch of standard programs i already had on my computer. But oh well i figured it wouldn't hurt anything to reinstall apps like that. Then, I just couldn't find a way to list and select individual programs to install, so i just gave up on the whole idea of getting my friend's Garage Band.
The next day some of my apps were acting funny. Had problems with Mail, Safari and Itunes. Fortunately, doing an update online fixed mail and safari. But itunes continues to not act right and it's always crashing and i have to force quit. Also my netzero software has become corrupted 2 times since the messing with the Macbook Pro tiger disk, and i've had to reinstall the ISP software. If i buy my own Tiger disk for G4 then i can reinstall itunes completely and hopefully that would solve it's problems. But i'm worried that when i messed with the Intel tiger disk i may have put some code on my hard disk that's harmful and useless to a G4 and could cause further problems down the road.
So my question is: Has anyone heard of this happening before and what would be the best thing for me to do? And i hope that if i must reinstall the whole OSX tiger, that i can use the "archive and install" mode so i won't lose any 3rd party software on my powerbook.

I would not advise an Archive and Install because it will preserve components of the old system such as your users folder (unless you opt not to do that) which may contain items that are now not compatible. Archive and Install also keeps applications that now are incompatible.
I would recommend the following:
1. Boot from your Tiger DVD. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button, then select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Set the number of partitions from the dropdown menu (use 1 partition unless you wish to make more.) Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled, if supported.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the volume(s) mount on the Desktop.
4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled, if supported.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
6. Click on the Erase button. The format process will take 30 minutes to an hour or more depending upon the drive size.
After formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer. Now proceed with OS X installation.

Is it possible to call a locally installed ibook from a hyperlink? What about to a bookmarked page?
I have 2 questions..
1. Can I send a link via email that when launched will open an ibook that has already been downloaded to the bookshelf?
2. If question 1 is possible, can I take it a step further and call a bookmark, i.e. chapter 3.
Our company has it's own appstore and I want to send out links to sections of the ibooks using bookmarks or at the very least take them to the start of the ibook.
I don't need to give them a link to install the ibook as they already have it installed.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.

According to a random website... the HTC Wildfire S uses a Qualcomm MSM7225 processor. This processor unfortunately does not support the full ARM version 7 instruction set, so Firefox cannot run on it.
