Install countdown is in the negative numbers

My MacBook's been really laggy -- lots and lots of beachball spinning at really simple tasks, like, say, clicking a link or selecting a menu -- so I brought it to the genius bar today and after repairing permissions (which I'd already done, but that's fine) they suggested I reinstall Snow Leopard. I am currently doing that. Things seemed to be going fine UNTIL approximately 37 minutes ago, when the countdown (Time Remaining: About X minutes) went into the negative numbers. I am now at Time Remaining: -37 minutes.
Any idea how long I should wait before aborting? Any other suggestions? I am super frustrated. This thing is only like eight months old.
Thanks!
Catherine

OK, three installs and one disk (re)repair later, and with the last install taking quite a bit longer than the previous ones, the install finally finished and the computer booted properly. Hooray! Of course, it's still lagging, but at this point I kind of don't care, heh.
So never mind for the moment but thanks anyway!

  • Negative numbers in export to excel

    Hi,
    We have two servers, one (X) without SP1 and the other (Y) with SP1.
    When I make export to excel in X, the negative numbers sometimes saved as @ or the actual negative number (e.g. -42), in both cases it is saved as text.
    The positive numbers are saved as numbers.
    We saw that SAP fixed it in SP1, we tried it on Y, we got that the negative numbers always show (e.g. -42), but all the numbers, positive and negative are saved as text.
    We need to see all the actual numbers(without @), and to be saved as numbers (so we can make calculations on them).
    Does anyone have any idea?
    Thanks.

    I am on SP1 and noticed that sometimes they are saved as numbers and some are texts:
    So I am not sure of any logic or what is going on.
    Maybe as a work around you could format everything to numbers so you can do the calculation?

  • Negative numbers in Parentheses() in Interactive Reports in Apex 4.1

    Hi,
    I want to display the negative numbers in parentheses() in all the interactive reports in my application eg: (367,432,203.07).
    I tried using the PR format "999G999G999G999G990D00PR" in my number/date format option in 'Column Definition'. But it gives the negative number '-367432203.06895' like this '<367,432,203.07>', which is not my exact requirement.
    Is there any other number format/option to get negative numbers in parentheses in my reports.
    Can anyone please help me on this?

This is not really satisfactory.
    In 4.2 I think it might be possible using a lot of extra columns, HTML Expressions, and CSS.

  • Flex 2 Stacked Bars with Negative Numbers?

    Hi guys, the strangest thing: I have a client requesting
    sacked bars for bar charts/column charts however, I can't seem to
    get the negative numbers to go below a positive x-axis.
    Do these bug logs suggest I need Flex 3?
    https://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/FLEXDMV-921
    https://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/FLEXDMV-1181
    and if that's the case, how will upgrading effect my current
    project?
    Thank you.

    Great, as in another thread defined and discused, i am
    a scripter, not a programmer, but i like oaying with math.
    Daves method is easy, but what about Random( -300,1200).
    that must be a huge array to initialize.
    my function has a restriction:
    it works only, if there is a zero in the range or you'll
    never get the highest number of the range. Also it can only have a
    linear range.
    Dave can input a list like this gRandomChoises = [
    1,3,5,7,11,13,17] , what can be very usefull in some cases.

  • Can a sequence generate negative numbers?

    Hi
    Thank you for reading my post
    i think my sequence generate negative numbers , is it possible ?or somewhere in my application is incorrect ?
      CREATE SEQUENCE  "HR"."GLOB_SEQ"  MINVALUE 1 MAXVALUE 999999999999999999999999999 INCREMENT BY 1 START WITH 5 NOCACHE  ORDER  NOCYCLE ;is there anything that i made wrong which caused the negative numbers in my edit box ?
    type of my category_ID is number.
    Thanks

    Generally speaking yes you can generate negative numbers:
    SQL> create sequence seq1 increment by -1;
    Sequence created.
    SQL> select seq1.nextval from dual;
    NEXTVAL
    -1
    SQL> /
    NEXTVAL
    -2
    But if you have defined minvalue as 1 it is impossible because:
    SQL> create sequence seq1 increment by -1 minvalue 1 maxvalue 1000000 start with 1;
    Sequence created.
    SQL> select seq1.nextval from dual;
    NEXTVAL
    1
    SQL> /
    select seq1.nextval from dual
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-08004: sequence SEQ1.NEXTVAL goes below MINVALUE and cannot be instantiated
    SQL>
    So most probably someone simply inserted a row with negative values knowing that they'll never be in conflict with sequence generated values, or your code is buggy :)
    Generally for surrogate keys (assuming this is your case) you don't care what values they have.

    Is there a way to darken the dates (numbers) on the ICal calender. I can barely read mine after installing Lion.

    I should note that the time stays on the left of the event name when I re-enter the text (which I had to do all the time before I found the "show event times" button) so I feel like there's a way.

    Good Morning.  I'm having a problem using both my Photoshop elements and premiere programs.  I've installed the programs, redeemed my code and entered the serial numbers, and created the adobe log-in.  I am able to open up the organizer without problems, but when I try to open up the photo editor (either by trying to open up the program from the main menu, or right-clicking on a photo in the organizer to edit in elements), the program asks me to sign in to adobe (which I can do and it doesn't give an an "incorrect password" or log-in ID error) then accept the terms and conditions.  When I click to accept the terms and conditions, nothing happens and the editor fails to open.  Everytime I click on the program, I get this same "loop" of signing in and accepting T&C's, but the program fails to open.  Any advice?

      Premiere Elements 10 is now 64 bit, but not PSE10.
    Take a look at your scratch disk set-up and if you have a spare volume, allocate that first before the C drive. Elements use scratch disks when it gets low on RAM.

    want to install Indesign on my new computer but am having trouble. First bought CS2 in 2009 and upgraded to 7.5 in 2011. • After Yosemite install I can no longer get negative numbers in parenthesis in excel. Any one else having this issue?

    Excel negative numbers not appearing in parenthesis

    I have had similar problems.  I uninstalled Office and with the help of Microsoft reinstalled Office.  Excel still won't let me format negative numbers.  I called Apple and they sent me to this discussion.  I have not seen any answer.

  • Ever since the new numbers update that I installed I am unable to open my documents.  I receive a message I need to update....

    Ever since I updated my system to 10.9 and updated the numbers, iphoto, imovie, pages etc I have been unable to open my numbers documents.  I keep getting a message I need to update.  My computer shows I did.  Whats happening?

    I was opening my documents from the document folder on my dock and that's when I couldn't open them.  I also couldn't open them from the old icon for numbers on my dock.  I even couldn't open from finder.  After recieiving your message I did use the Applications to open numbers and it did work.  I also had one document set with a password and I still had problems opening it.  Once I got it open I removed the password temporairly and it opens now from the document folder like it used to before.  Oh yes, I forgot to mention I removed the old Numbers icon from the dock.  Then I dragged the icon from the Applications folder onto my doc and all seems fine.
    Thank you for your help, I just don't know why these things just don't update automatically from Apple.  Ever since using Apple products these past 3 1/2 years I've decided no more Window's computers.  Please to Apple.....is there a way they can take care of these updates beforehand?

  • I ran the update for the newest version of Numbers.  Now I cannot open some of my spreadsheets.  When I try I get a drop down box that says I need a newer version of Numbers!!!!  I have just installed the newest Numbers update.  Any suggestions?

    I ran the latest Numbers update and now I cannot open several of the Numbers files I created and saved previously.  When I try, a box appears that says I need to update to a newer version of Numbers.  I ALREADY updated to the newest version!!!!  Any suggestions?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
    When you upgraded Numbers to the most recent version, the Mac App Store kept the old version in case you need it in the future. Your problem is that you are opening the old version by mistake instead of the new one.
    To fix this, open a Finder window, select Applications in the sidebar and drag the new Numbers version (the one with the new icon) to the Dock. By doing this, you can access to the new Numbers version easily, so you will not open the old version by mistake anymore. Also, I recommend you to open the documents after opening Numbers. The same applies for all other iWork applications.
    If you want, you can remove the old Numbers version, but some users have complained about the lack of features of the new Numbers version. Apple will add more features in the future. See > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT6049?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US

  • How to know if there are more positive or negative numbers?

    I will try to explain my problem with an example, since in the computer I don't have labVIEW installed.
    I have 10 numbers and multiply it for 10 other numbers
    and of course i will have 10 results, after it I have to show the meddium value of this 10 results and have to show the signal that most appear (+ or -)
    My problem is to show the signal, if I have 7 negative numbers and 3 positive numbers, how can I measure it and show the negative signal in the final?
    example:
    -0,3 -0,8 1 0,3 0,6 -0,7 -0,1 -0,5 0,3 -0,4
    So i have to put in the final:
    - 0,5
    Thanks
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Here is code that gives you -0.5 from the given data. Still, sounds pretty useless.

  • A better way to differentiate positive vs. negative numbers and sum them ?

    Hi, I wonder if there is a better or easier way to differentiate the positive numbers from negative ones and sum them respectively?
    I come up with below:
    create table t1 (num number, id varchar2(3));
    insert into t1 values  (-100, 1);
    insert into t1 values (50, 2);
    insert into t1 values  (-10, 3);
    insert into t1 values  (-20, 4);
    insert into t1 values  (50, 5);
    insert into t1 values  (60, 6);
    select sum(decode(sign(num), 1, num, 0)) plus, sum(decode (sign(num), -1, num, 0)) minu from t1;
    PLUS   MINU
    160     -130Any suggestion would be appreciated! Thanks

    if there is a better or easier way to differentiate the positive numbers from negative ones and sum them respectively?Maybe you want them in different rows than in different columns:
    SQL> select sign(num), sum(num) from t1 group by sign(num)
    SIGN(NUM)   SUM(NUM)
             1        160
            -1       -130
    2 rows selected.?

  • I upgraded to the new Numbers, but when I try to open an edited spreadsheet, I get this: "You need a newer version of Numbers to open this spreadsheet. You can download the latest version of Numbers from the Mac App Store." Help!

    When I check for upgrades, my computer "No updates available" and says "OS X Update Version 10.9.2 installed Mar 9, 2014."
    When I go to the app store to get the new Numbers, it says "installed".
    I shut down and rebooted my computer, but I still get the message that says I need new Numbers to open the spreadsheet that I want to open. I can open other spreadsheets, those all work.  I just can't open the one I want.  Please help. I need the data on that spreadsheet TODAY!!!

  • Is it possible to re-install iWork 09 without the physical CD?

    I bought iWork 09 two years ago from an Apple store in the UK but have since moved abroad to Australia.
    I installed the software on my MacBook (late 2008 model) but have since had to replace the hard drive so it is no longer installed.
    Is it possible to re-install iWork 09 without needing to pay to re-download it from the App store? I have the serial numbers and barcodes but not the physical disc with me.
    Thanks

    The physical DVD required no serial number. If you have lost that yes you will need to buy the M.A.S version with the consolation that it is cheap here and can be installed on all your Macs at no extra charge.
    If you have a serial number it is possible you bought the downloadable version, in which case use that to install and use the serial number when prompted.
