Install CS4 update on a G4 Mac

Hey everyone,
The company I work needs to update its Adobe suite to CS4. Unfortunately, the hardware we are working with is an old 1GHz G4 Power Mac (768 MB of RAM). Now, we've been making due with the CS4 Indesign trial, so I know at least some of the programs will operate on this computer. However, when I ran the installer, I ran smack into the blank installer alert!
After digging down a few pages on Google, I've seen enough success stories to indicate this CAN be done. However, all the solutions and workarounds I've tried haven't worked. I've gotten rid of Safari 4 and attempted to install the update in safe mode and still get the empty alert box. I've run Adobe's clean sweep, and that didn't make a difference either.
Can anyone think of something I'm missing?

I may not have mentioned that I have a brand new MacBook Pro. 2 Ghz
Intel Core Duo. Plenty of RAM, Plenty of disk space
We don't know each other, so judgments are totally unfair on my part.
But in the spirit of unfairness, I detect an inclination to defend
Adobe's unspeakable indefensible handling of this situation in
specific -- and customer service in general.
Its customer base is riddled with customers who've paid for and
received a NONWORKING product. A defective product. Period. If this
were a prescription drug or a car, the govt would have ordered recalls
by now.
Adobe's labrynthine, convoluted recommended "fixes" (delete and
reinstall all your Adobe products....reinstall your system
software .... go stand in the rain and burn incense .... whatever) is
like Ford Motor telling the customer: "Yes, we admit the defect.
But, hey, at least we feel bad about it. Why don't you try selling
your car and buying a new one."
Eeegads.
SOME of the people with the Install/Setup issue (installer freezes
at about 90% while checking system profiler) have inadequate hardware.
Most have adequate hardware.   I've read the bulletin boards. So has
Adobe. We know it; they know it. They know it because ALL OF US HAVE
SPENT HOURS ON THE PHONE WITH ADOBE ONLY TO CONFIRM THAT (A) OUR
HARDWARE IS MORE THAN ADEQUATE AND (B) THEY HAVEN'T A CLUE WHAT WE
SHOULD DO.
This is one the largest software makers in the world. They have
enough programmers and engineers working in their corporate coffee
shop to fix this thing. They produce a NEW installer that is not
affected by whatever it is that is affecting the current one. Or a two-
part installer that first scans and fixes the obstacle, THEN installs
InDesign.
That they have not done this -- more than eight months after being
made aware of the problem -- is not one of this company's finer
moments.

LR on your laptop is still a desktop version. It is just now able to upload to the cloud to replicate photos to either http://lightroom.adobe.com/ or an iPad that has LR Mobile installed.
I think you probably just want to change the LR 5 identity plate back so it doesn’t mention LR Mobile all the time. Hover over the identity-plate area, and click on the little triangle that appears, then choose Change Identity Plate.

HT5130 Unable to install Security Update 2012-001 for Mac OS 10.6.8

Have just tried to install Security Update 2012-001 for Mac OS 10.6.8 and get message saying cannot download. Download stalls at Zero kB downloaded. Dialog says an error occurred during download.
Internet connection is fine and first time denial has occurred.

Looking at all the posts about the deficiencies of this update, you may have just lucked out, especially if you are, like many of us, still running PowerPC programs under Rosetta.

Since this question is about a Microsoft product, you might have more luck getting suggestions if you ask in Microsoft's own forums.

Problem installing CS4 update

I've been emailing back and forth with Adobe support but no solution to this yet.
I don't think the person I'm speaking with quite understands my problem (!)
After not being able to install the CS4 updates, I uninstalled all my adobe programs, and searched thru registry to remove any adobe refererences
I can install the CS4 programs (I have the Production Premiere package), but my monitor card says I need to update to the latest version of CS4 premierePro 4.0.1 (If I'm not mistaken)
I downloaded the update zip file on my "internet computer", transfered it to my "editing computer" via a memory stick. When I open the zip file, I see a setup.exe file, which I would think should get things going. But it freezes (this program has stopped responding).
anyone else have this problem??? am I going about the installation wrong? do I need some kind of Updater Program (which I've read on here may also be causing some problems)
any help is appreciated.
I'm using a Dell winXP SP3 with plenty of Ram, speed and hard dirve space.

That was it! when I first transfered the zip files, a folder with the same name as the zip file was created - full of files, and I assumed everything had been extracted correctly.

The Instructions Say To Insert The Disc And Follow The On Screen Instrutions But When I Put The Disc In; It Spins The Disc For About 30sec - 1min Then It Ejects The Disc. My Mac book is restarting frequently after installing few updates.It has started to bother me that why the system asked me to restart 4 times after the installation was done . PLease HELP

Certain updates were been installed and then a restart was done to install the updates successfully in my MAc Book PRO .After restarting the sytem, the system displayed a message for a restart and it happened three times.Every time i Login in back , the message displayed on the screen says " Your computer was restarted beacuse of a problem". I'm new to Mac and therefore could not understand the problem. It would be much appreciated if some one can answer or explain this activity to me .

Take it to your local Apple Store or AASP, it's covered by a 1 year hardware warranty. If you have AppleCare then give them a call but I'm pretty sure they will advise the same. If you have not purchased AppleCare yet please do, this will extend the warranty to 3 years however it MUST be purchased within the first year of ownership. Let it go 366 days and you are out of luck. AppleCare will also include telephone support too.

Installing my updated CS4 on a new I Mac: "legacy Java SE 6 runtime" error when i try to open psd

Bought the original Creative Suite package 1n 2004, installed on my new apple G5. Upgraded in 2009 to CS4 and sometime installed on a 2nd computer. I'm sure I registered each product. I don't have the original disk's, but I have the serial number. I'm trying to install CS on my new I Mac. It fails authorization in the download. I went ahead and downloaded the 30 day trail like suggested. I get the "legacy Java SE 6 runtime" error when i try to open psd. After my first attempt failed and I read the help lessons on deactivation, I believe I have deactivated from the G5, but I'm still getting the same code when trying to open psd.

Download and install: Java for OS X 2014-001
Reboot your Mac.

Installing Photoshop CS4 Extended upgrade on my Mac Pro. query

Hi all I do hope you can help me. I have just purchased ps cs4 extended upgrade for my Mac. On attempting to install the istall program checks my system profile then asks me for the serial number for the new product. all well up to this point, then on the next page it tells me it cannot find an existing product to upgrade from and asks me to insert the serial number of the qualifying product. I have the full version of cs3 standard on my Mac so i insert the number. Ok so far. on the same page it asks me to choose my qualifying product showing cs3 extended in the box. However when I try to insert cs3 standard I find there is nothing to change to only this one option. On the adobe website it clearly shows that I should be able to update from the standard version to extended. Can anyone dvise me. I purchased the upgrade from Apple and I note it is the international version.

Thank you for your Help, just come off the phone to Adobe. I had to put a Challenge code in as it was as you suggest the wrong package only allowing Upg from CS3 Extended. All sorted now thanks to a very patient and helpful Adobe guy. Have since updated and everything seems ok even though I am on Snow Leopard.

CS4 updates not installing

I'm running CS4 Design Premium under Mac OS X 10.5.8 and trying to install program updates. I run the updater and it repeatedly says there are updates. So I tell it to install the updates and it appears to do so. But when I check the versions, the programs haven't been updated (e.g. InDesign still says it's version 6.0.0.352 instead of 6.0.4). I downloaded the InDesign update to install manually, but when I run the update, it says it's already installed.
Anybody have ideas as to what might be going on our how to fix this?

I am having the exact same problem with Adobe Media Encoder. I had an issue that necessitated reinstalling the program and now that issue is fixed, but I can't update. I keep getting the same updates over and over, but when I check the version it's still the old one. And likewise, when I tried downloading the updates direct from Adobe and running them manually, it said they were already installed. I have since uninstalled, repaired permissions, reinstalled and get the same result.
Anybody who knows anything about this, it would be a huge help.

Go to: Apple > Force Quit
and select Mail > Force Ouit.

Install fails / Parallels 5 on a Mac + Win 7 + CS4

I'm going crazy here. I'm trying to install CS4 to Windows 7 on a Mac using Parallels 5. Installer stops at the very beginning.

Win 7 on Mac with Parallels leaves a lot of variables to contend with. All I can tell you is that everything works wonderfully with Boot Camp. Have you checked Parallels forums and newsgroups to see if anyone else has experienced this?

yes you need the updates and patches.
Only some of the drivers that Windows will automatically install at times
and always make sure to insure it is using restore points
do all the maintenance andsuch as normal
use MS Security Essentials for AV is really top notch
Clean disk space
Use WinClone new program to inisure you have a restore image
