Install disc will not mount
I was hoping to use Disc Utility on the install disc that came with my MacBook, but it refuses to mount! My MacBook will read the Applications disc it came with as well as any other DVD I put in. However, it will not mount my install disc or my wife's white MacBook install disc. For whatever reason, it makes some noise and spits it right back out. I tested both discs on my wife's computer and they mount just fine.
Why would my MacBook refuse to mount any install disc but continue to mount all other discs? I tested both single and DL discs.
I should also point out that my drive was just replaced under AppleCare. I am not sure if this was a problem before because I never needed to use the install disc until now.
Since this is a hardware problem you just had fixed, I suggest you take the computer back for more service.

CS5 - Install Disc will not GO
I bought CS5 Master Suite. My install discs will not run on my computer. The discs hiccup, like they want to start, but refuse to even start. It isn't my DVD drive; it runs fine with other dvds. My OS is Vista, 64 bit, 6 gig ram 200 gig free hard drive space.I should be good to go.

I do have a dual layer dvd drive. This morning it finally recognized the disc and I entered my serial number and started the installation. However, it is currently hung up at 9%. "Adobe Fonts Recommended" with 943 minutes remaining. The log file is pretty long, so I will just cut and paste the section that has had the installation hung up. At least I think this is the installation log file. Correct me if I am wrong and I will find what is needed. Note the time the fonts installation began was 10:34 AM. My current time is 11:50AM. We're not going anywhere, but I am afraid to end the installation, because I am afraid the DVD won't work again.

Applications will not launch and install disk will not mount
Just recently my applications have taken a turn to not wanting to launch. These include anything from Dashboard to the Microsoft Office Suite. It also includes anything that is downloaded form the internet, like the World of Warcraft download client. Long story short, the errors that I constantly get are

I figured that with it being a system library issue and the Repair Disk Permissions has been completely useless, that a complete restore would be in order. And I was wrong. For some reason my Genuine 13-inch MacBook Pro Mac OS X Install DVD will not mount. Meaning I out the DVD in said drive and it will attempt to mount but will eventually give up and eject itself. I can load any other cd/DVD into my drive and it will mount without a problem.
Everything is up to date software wise.

My Install Disc Will not Let me Archive and Install
I'm trying to perform an archive and install (my computer is stuck in a log in loop so I can't login under any user), but when I use my Mac OS X install disc to start up my computer it gives me the message "Mac OS X cannot be installed on this computer." If I can't get this to work there's no way for me to log in to this computer. Why is this happening?

I work for a small non-profit and we have two iMacs. They're the same exact versions (we bought them together). So they might be the discs that came with the other iMac, but that shouldn't make a difference if they're the same version computer, should it?
I'm not sure. you should try the other disks. as I said that message is indicative of using the wrong disks. -
10.4 Install discs will not boot
I have an Xserve Xeon 2 x Dual Core and am unable to boot from the original 10.4 install discs to do a clean install. When the machine was running I did install the firmware upgrade (wondering if this has something to do with it).
Any ideas?Some additional background:
The Xserve was running a drive with 10.4.11 Server. The drive went bad and I'm now in the process of reinstalling from the original discs. Before the 10.4.11 drive died, I installed a firmware update to my Xserve (Xeon 2 x Dual Core 2Ghz).
I cannot get the machine to boot from the install discs--from either the built-in DVD-R drive or an attached firewire DVD-RW drive.
Any ideas? -
I installed a disc to my macbook pro 11 and all was working fine the installation completed
i updated to the yosemite recently if that has anything to do with it, i'm no computer expert, but when i go to open the icon it says it quit unexpectedly and I don't know how to resolve this.
I really need use of whats on this disc asap.
I would really appreciate any of your responses in order to solve this.

Disk Utility from Install CD will not mount valid volumes
I'm trying to make an image of my internal disk onto an external USB disk. This disk has a FAT32 partition that is automatically seen and mounted when I am booted into the OS. (It also contains an unformatted partition.)
When I boot from the OS X 10.3 Install CD and run Disk Utility (in order to image the internal disk), the external disk and its partition are correctly detected and can be scanned, polled, and ejected without error, but are not automatically mounted. Clicking the "Mount" button has no effect.
A FAT16 flash drive exhibits the same behavior.
Thanks.Hello! There's another way to image your disk without starting form another disk. Open disk utility and choose new image. It will bring up the box showing you the options. Choose sparse disk image and then under size choose custom. There set the image size in MB. As an example I chose 7000 mb for a 7 gig image. Now name the file and let it mount the image. Once it's mounted go to the disk utility and click on your drive and then select the restore tab. Once there drag your main disk to the source pane and then drag the mounted disk image to the destination pane and then click on restore. You will now have created a disk image of the drive you need. DvD will not mount but cd-r will When I install the the disc into the super drive the format box (disc utilities) comes up which is not the same box that comes up when installing a cd-r. I check the priference settings under general and it is set to show on the desk top.
Not yet will have to get one from a freind. I bought a stack of the Sony DVD+R and that is all I have.

External disks will not mount on new OS install
Hi,
I just had to reformat and reinstall all the OS and applications on a imac g5 for a friend of mine. I have updated all the os to 10.5.8 and have installed user software iWork, iLife, Microsoft office and Roxio's Toast 10 and a family history software called Reunion. That is all that has been done to this new install.
I went to transfer her personal files back and I can't get any external disks to mount. They will all show in disk utility but will not mount the desktop. I have tried 2 different drives formatted in Mac OS Exteded Journalled as well as MS-Dos Fat32. I have also tried flash drives formatted in each of these formats. All of these drives are readable on several other computers I have here, including a 2008 Macbook Pro running Lion, 2010 iMac running Snow Leopard as so on.
When inserted in the iMac G5 I can see all the drives in disk utiltiy and was able to even erase and reformat a drive to differnt format ( mac extended to Fat32) without issues to mount on the other computers.
Cd's mount just fine.
Anyone have any clues as to what's going on? Any thoughts are most welcome.

All usb drives are now mounting upon connection. I asume that her drive has bad sectors on it (even though the SMART status says it's OK) and is not loading all the drivers properly for USB to mount. I was suspicious from the beginning that the OS was corrupt when she first had me look at it. It was at that point that I booted it in target mode, connected to my Macbook Pro, and then CCC'd to a usb drive that I had. I then had a couple of difficulties installing the new OS. Should have known......
I am now going to put a new drive in it for her and she'll be up and running.

I have a copy of Web Premium CS3 which was installed on a Windows Vista PC. I have a new Windows 7 PC and the installation disc will not run properly. The installation begins and then asks for the CS3 disc to be inserted. If I re-insert the CD I just get a message asking for the disc to be inserted. any ideas anyone?

I just bought new-to-me mac mini running OSX mavericks.
Trying to migrate from old mac mini using simpletech external hard drive.

My Ipod 4th Gen will not mount into Itunes
Please anyone with technical knowledge HELP ME.
The basic problem is that my 4th Generation Ipod will not mount into Itunes.
Let me tell you what I have done so far this includes all the R's, I have also followed the advice of reinstalling itunes and Quicktime I have also tried backwards installing to version 6 (at present I have upgraded to version 7.0.2). The ipod is visible in Windows and I still am able to use it as disk as I have programs I am using off it.
I have tried a fifth gen and also an Ipod mini and both mount onto my Itunes.
I have tried to reinstall the Ipod software, however the previous ipod updates do not work and as the Ipod cannot be mounted I cannot use Itunes to update it as it is not visible.
I have also run the Ipod Diagnostic in Itunes and everything seems fine (I have included the report if anyone can please understand it)and at the very bottom it states that the Ipod is truly Mounted. WELL ITS NOT
I really am getting desperate now as this is the same on both my Desktop and Laptop and I am getting very close to throwing the whole thing out along with all the rest of my computer equipment.

It appears to be truly mounted.If anyone is interested I managed to solve this problem by reformatting the ipod as a mac ipod, with the help of friends system. This does get rid of the music but as I had it backed up wasn't a problem. I then plugged the mac Ipod back into a windows pc and reformatted it as a windows ipod which updated the firmware correctly and have'nt had a problem since.

After upgrading to Mountain Lion, my LaCie USB 3 drive will not mount
I just upgraded my OS to 10.8 and now my LaCie P'9230 USB 3.0 external drive will not mount. I have re-installed the USB driver and re-booted the computer and drive several times to no avail; any ideas/help?

It's my understanding that LaCie hasn't released a Mountain Lion driver for their PCIe card yet. Sonnet uses a modified version of the LaCie driver and theirs is dead in the water too for that reason-they also warn that their driver won't work with 10.7.5 when it's released.
Indeed, yesterday I pulled the Sonnet USB 3.0 card from my Mac Pro and replaced it with a CalDigit card from OWC; CalDigit has separate drivers for 10.6, 10.7 and 10.8 and I can say that the card works with all three, the first time in 1.5 years that I've had a reliable USB 3.0 connection.
