  • Unable to install Elements 12 on Windows 8.1

When I try to install Elements 12 on Windows 8.1, the install fails.  It says it needs DirectPlay, but according to Microsoft, that has been depricated.  I'm caught in a vicious loop trying to get Elements 12 installed on my PC.  What's up with that?

    Sandeep,
I downloaded the file, but it will not open.  It has a .dmg extension, and apparently I don't have the necessary app to unpack it.Help please.

  • Trouble installing Elements 11 on Windows 8 64-bit

Are there any problems with installing Elements 11 on Window 8 - 64 bit?

Thank you.  I think I;ll take your advice and buy the product.  HOwever like you I really hope Windows 8.1 will solve many of the problems/issues that have been experienced or talked about since its launch!!
I've selected PSE 11 as I wasnt 'sold' on PSE 12 having recently read the article in the Photoshop magazine.  Although it scored 91% there were still aq couple of megatives.  And only being a beginner I didnt want to run before I can walk!!

  • Installing iTunes + QuickTime on Windows XP Pro

I have just taken receipt of the iPod given as a present. Unfortunately I have yet to use it.
This is a similar problem to that mentioned previously BUT it appears they actually managed to install the software.
I have not had the pleasure of having actually installed the software. I have removed and reinstalled to no avail. Just approaching the end of the installation, and near the end of the QuickTime install I get the ominous Windows message from Microsoft:
iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
I would appreciate a step by step guide on resolving this, so please make no assumptions on computer expertise. Your expert help would really be appreciated. By all means post your answer directly to me as well as to the Forum. Thanks in advance.

    hi Keith!
Itunes has encountered a problem and needs to close
the first thing that i check for when people report getting that message when they try to launch their itunes is a broken QuickTime.
try to open your QuickTime. does it launch properly, or do you get an error message?
if you get an error message, the first thing we'll try is a careful standalone QT 7.1 reinstall.
download and save a copy of the QT 7.1 standalone installer to your hard drive. (we'll run the install from there rather than online.) switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.
    Quicktime 7.1 Standalone Installer
if that install goes through okay, does your itunes launch properly again?
(if you get an error message on the QT standalone reinstall, let us know what it says. include error message numbers if you're getting any.)

  • CD Drive disabled after installing Elements 11 on Windows 7

I realized a couple of days after I installed Elements 11 on my Dell laptop running Windows 7 that the CD/DVD drive on my laptop was no longer visible to the operating system.   After fooling around for an hour trying to get a disc out, I remembered that I'd installed the Elements software & started looking for software solutions.
Many things I tried didn't work & I didn't want to start editing the registry as suggested by the Adobe knowledge base article I found.   However, Microsoft saved me with their Fix It tool.   Everything worked fine after I ran it and rebooted.   Note that the tool doesn't tell you to reboot.   The fix it tool can be found here:
    http://support.microsoft.com/mats/cd_dvd_drive_problems/en-us
I don't know what Elements 11 corrupted but I'm not happy that Adobe's quality control didn't catch it.   I've got a very vanilla laptop (Dell Studio) and I'm sure that other people are going to have this problem.

That's a system issue to do with your USB ports and similar stuff. What is the exact error? Have you checked your device manager and let it repair the USB drivers.

    Hi,
Nearly all hardware vendors won't release drivers for Windows 10 until Windows 10 is officially released (not preview). Windows 10 should install drivers for your machine after few updates. Windows 10 can find all drivers (except one: finger print) for my 5 years old machine. It should be able to find drivers for newer machines).
    Regards.

  • ITunes won't install on my computer (Windows XP-Pro)

I have a laptop Windows XP-Pro. I go to the apple website and click download iTunes.  A box pops up stating to save file iTunesSetup.exe
I click save file, the website changes to "Thank you for downloading iTunes", but nothing happens.  The file isn't saved and no downloading begins.
    Help!?!?!

    Hi sahgin,
The issue eventually resolved itself, I still don't really know why. I kept up with Windows update, and attempted downloading iTunes again from the Apple website, and it just... worked. It now works fine. I don't know why it took approximately 4 months to work, though.
I'm sorry I don't have any more helpful information. Posting here was my last resort, and clearly Apple never bothered to reply.

  • Installing Elements 13 to windows

My serial number is missing - How can I install Elements 13 from the DVD to my computer?

The serial number which commences 1057 (24 digits) is usually inside the box. Try pulling out the white cardboard inner-box. The serial number is usually found there, not on the DVD wrapper.
Or if you purchased on-line check your confirmation email, which may contain a redemption code.

  • Cannot Install iTunes 9 in Windows XP Pro 64-bit

    Okay, here's the situation:
I was an early adopter of Vista, in its 32-bit form. Ran fine, lasted a long time. Needed more memory, so installed Vista 64-bit a few months back as part of an upgrade to a larger boot disc.
Initially, the version (whatever it was) of iTunes installed and worked okay, but after an upgrade of Windows and iTunes (done at the same time) killed the whole thing. It installed correctly, but when I ran iTunes, it would hang.
I know about relatively short hangs while trying to connect to the iTunes store, as well as the potentially hours-long hang during the 'gapless playback' process, but these hangs were for more than 12 hours in some cases, and required that I manually end the program.
About a week ago, I decided to go back to XP Professional because several updates had created an unusable environment for iTunes, even with deleting everything Apple and starting over multiple times.
With a clean Windows XP Professional 64-bit install, I thought I might have a chance. Turns out, I was wrong.
I downloaded the latest iTunes 64-bit package, only to be told this is for Windows Vista 64-bit only. Fine. I downloaded the latest iTunes 32-bit package and was greeted with a message that suggested I download the 64-bit version. Are we sure Microsoft didn't buy Apple somewhere along the line? This is not the sort of nonsense I have seen in about 15 years experience with Apple products.
Next I looked for any tricks or tips that might help me do what I wanted. I learned Orca is more than a Sea World attraction, and many other new things. At the end of the day, I cannot find any way to successfully install iTunes 32-bit or 64-bit into Windows XP Professional 64-bit.
Is there anyone that has successfully installed the latest iTunes (32- or 64-bit versions) into XP Pro 64-bit without hacking, cracking or smacking their system? Anyone? If so, I would love to hear how it's done.
It's painfully obvious that Apple never tested this O/S or they might have fixed the problem before releasing iTunes 9.
Although my iPhone contract ended about two months ago, I'm not rushing out to get a new phone until this problem is resolved. Currently it is essentially a paperweight as I have no access to some application updates that will only complete when it is tethered.

Follow the directions here.  But the problem is that the I-tunes installer calls for the wrong file name so… if you rename the file named “AppleMobileDevice64.msi” to “AppleMobileDevice.msi” it should install.  When it says “iPod service failed to start…”  run this patch then click “retry” it’ll work fine.  Merry Christmas from Lokie!
P.S. Please repost the patch thanks

  • Can we install ELEMENTS on same system as PRO?

    Hello
Please may I ask a question on behalf of my elderly father?
He is an enthusiastic user of Adobe Premiere PRO for producing home movies for his family. He is on his 3rd machine which currently uses CS3 and (I believe a MATROX RT capture card ?). His 1st machine used v6 and is 2nd machine used CS1.5 ??
I mentioned he is elderly ... I know v.little about what he does, but it seems apparent to me he gets VERY confused and makes subtle changes to the program (inadvertently) which he then doesn't understand, and cannot correct or go back. His source for all his work is a Panasonic MiniDV camera.
I was wondering if he might benefit from a 'downgrade' to ELEMENTS v9 which may be easier to use and less confusing (but hopefully work in the same manner)? Any comments would be HUGELY appreciated. He uses ENCORE to produce the DVDs. Can we purchase ELEMENTS v9 and install it on the same machine and see how he gets on with it (without removing PRO CS3) or will there be some incompatability issues?
Thankyou VERY much for any advice
    Kind regards from UK
    priyp

I wouldn't change his workflow if it already works for him and he likes it.
You can have both on your PC (I have both PrePro CS5 and PE9) and they don't interfer with each other at all.   Though, if he is using CS3, I assume his computer is a few years old and it might not take well to PE9.
    cheerio!
