Install Enterprise Manager Console only
Hi,
This is for 10g on Windows.
I want to install only the Enterprise Manager Console onto my desktop/PC.
But I'm not sure which install files to use - do I simply begin as if I am installing the full database? is there an option along the way to choose only Enterprise Manager?

Wouldn't that be by choosing the admin option when installing the 10g client?

Strange problem with 10G using client installed enterprise manager console
I have successfully installed 10G on our SUSE linux 9.0 server, I have created 6 databases (standard edition of the database) and verified their parameter files, control files, and database files are in different locations --- all done at the server console. I created my DBA account on all 6 databases and logged into each one to verify their function.
I returned to my PC where I have installed the 10G client and where I have used the 8 and 9 enterprise manager console to manage my databases. I got the TNSNAMES file in order for the new databases. I logged into the first database and tested my workstation connectivity successfully , I logged into the second database and it said my password was incorrect. I ended up signing in on the second database with my first databases account password. (it then worked). I got fed up hopping around with the mystery with the password being stored somewhere in the enterprise manager java ? and logged in as system and changed all of my passwords. I then went up to the console and found that the only database that they changed on was the first one.
I returned to my workstation and started creating the data files and users and roles in the first database. I now on either workstation in my office, when logging in as ANY of the six database DBA accounts, can see all the objects I created in the first database.
I went to the server console and logged in and verified that the objects only exist in the first database. For some reason the enerprise manager console is really a problem. I have windows XP. Our database is on 10G but we are not taking advantage of grid control due to budget reasons (one server only).
I have heard there is a url based web management console at: http://serverip:5500/em, but it is not working currently in our environment and it will be up to our sys. engineers to release / open up that port through our DMZ. Ordinarily would this allow the kind of control that the old enterprise manager console would?
Is my installing the grid conrol product going to be "overkill" and not useful for me or should I install it?
Is there an alternative 10G version of the enterprise manager console for simpler environments like mine?
Is there a good explanation why my workstations are presenting "false" cached information above what is really in the database for objects unique to each database - ie: why are my #1 database objects showing up in EMC as objects in all databases and why is EMC managing/storing my passwords.?
I just need to get the best choice to manage my environment.
I know I have asked a lot of questions and I would appreciate any insight from someone who has encountered this before.fixed
- the alias in the TNSNAMES was correct but the actual database "service_name" was the first db - -- a long project / late night oversight. I also went into the sysman\ifiles\ and corrected the entry for the database there too where it had registered the settings for the wrong database. -
Weather SOA required for Enterprise Manager Console
i installed oracle 10g express edition in my system. I want to access Enterprise Manager Console.To access that console weather it is required to install SOA?
You do not need SOA to install Enterprise Manager console but since you are using the express edition EMC will not work with the express edition. The express edition comes with its own console.

If you can't see the login screen of the CMC then it's a problem of webapps and not EIM services.
Try cleaning the Tomcat cache for the BOE webapps and let Tomcat re cache it. Often it does the job.
- Stop Tomcat
- Rename the BOE folder to BOE-OLD in C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\tomcat\work\Catalina\localhost\
- Start Tomcat
When the Tomcat process in task manager is done working (it can take 10-20 min+) then try again.
When you're done, you can delete the BOE-OLD folder.

Oracle Enterprise Manager Console redirection
I've recently moved one of our servers that has Oracle 10g 10.2.0.2.0 installed to another domain. After this was done, the Database Control to navigate to the web page will no longer work properly. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Enterprise Manager Console, and changing the default web address in the browser's title bar, but to no avail. Are there certain configuration parameters that need to be addressed in order to get this working again, or certain registry settings that need to be altered? Thanks for any help on this in advance.
Only a general advice is possible. This kind of error occurs,when there are mismatches in your installed Oracle software. In your case 'java.exe' and 'oci.dll' are not suited to each other. You may have to repeat the installation . Keep an eye on error messages.

I meet a strange problem. I use JDeveloper to make jsp project. the database is oracle 9i. I install JDeveloper and database on the same machine. at first, everything is ok. but suddenly I found that I can't run Enterprise Manager Console. the icon in the start meun became unrecognize. if I run the command on the command line, it's refused. I don't know what's the reason. but what's more strange is that I can run jsp project and store and retrieve data from database. I really don't know the reason, besides, how can I change database structure and view data stored in the database without Enterprise Manager Console?
my project will be used on the next week, but I don't know if this problem will effect funcation!
does there anyone know the reason and how can I resolve it? besides, my OS is windows xp professional.

Go for connection Database and click on user than u can c database structure and all tables views ....

Installing Enterprise Manager 10g Grid Control Using an Existing Database
I want to install Enterprise Manager 10g Grid Control 10.2.0.3 using an existing database. This database is RAC 10.2.0.2. and I use it as Infrastructure Metadata Repository.
I is said in Oracle documentation that SYSMAN schema has to be dropped, thus Database console repository has to be dropped. As far as I understand after Grid Control installation I will not be able to use Database console for my RAC 10.2.0.2 Infrastructure Metadata Repository database. I will be able to use only Grid Control for this database.
Am I right? Could you give me any advice about Installing Enterprise Manager 10g Grid Control Using an Existing Database?

Oracle 10g Enterprise Manager DB control vs Enterprise Manager Console
We have a consultant install Oracle 10g on Windows platform. Somehow, I only see Enterprise Manager Console installed and I can use this console to access database. I don't see Enterprise Manager Database Control installed. What difference between Console and DB control? Please advise.

The Java Standalone client was deprecated in 10gR1. Probably since not all features had been ported to the 3-tier DB Console (eg: Spatial index management and Workspace Management), Oracle decided to let us use the Java Console as an extra install from the Client/Companion disk. However it is no longer available going forward into 11g.
If you look at the 'Console' carefully, you will not that some areas are no longer functional and it does not cover all capability of 10g, for example in partitioning and indexing. -

Error connecting 8i Enterprise Manager Console after installation
Dear all, I am very new to the oralce world and got stuck today the first time I install oracle 8i on my win2k pro.
After the installation, I was trying to connect the Enterprise Manager Console for the first time, using the default user name sysman and password oem_temp (correct?). The problem is that I don't know exactly what is a management server, and what name it should be called. I named the database/sid name orarem, under D:\Oracle\admin\OraRem, does it have something to do with this issue?
I only installed the oracle enterprise server edition 8.1.6.0.0, not the Client part, will that matter if I only wanna run oracle on my stand alone desktop as a testing procedure for now?

Stopping the Enterprise Manager Console (Oracle 10g on SuSE 9.1)
I'm trying to stop the Enterprise Manager Console by issuing the command:
${ORACLE_HOME}/bin/emctl stop dbconsole
Unfortunately, the command fails to stop the EM Console. Here's the output I get:

The only way I can stop the EM Console (and related services--i.e., emagent) is to kill its process.
Everything (Listener, DB Instance, EM Console) starts fine. I can stop the Listener and DB Instance without any problems. It's just the EM Console shutdown that doesn't happen cleanly.
Has anyone else encountered the same condition? If so, what was the solution?
Here's my operating environment:
SuSE 9.1 (Kernel 2.6.5-7.108-default)
Oracle 10g

Installation problem with Enterprise Manager Console
When i am installing 10G database installation was failed at configuring DBConsole. later from OUI(Oracle Universal Installer) i uninstalled Enterprise Manager Console. my Question was how to reinstall the Enterprise Manager Console alone?
When i am trying to install from OUI. it is not allowing me to install Enterprise Mager Alone (stating Database is mandatory) .

Check the contents of this file.
Out from the log you posted I can see it is a windows platform. One common issue with windows and EM is the lack of a fixed IP Address. If this is the case configure a loopback adapter.
In the mean time, you don't need to have checked the configure EM DB Control from install time, you can skip this configuration and perform it later, so at least you have a working database just to start.

Install Enterprise Manager Grid Control 11R1 Failed at OMS Configuration

I have installed Oracle 11g (11.2.0.1) and WebLogic Server (WLS) 10.3.6.0 and currently I am in the process of installing Enterprise Manager Grid Control 11R1 on a Linux RedHat 5.8 and it fails at OMS Configuration.
I have read the following thread and they suggested to use WLS 10.3.2:

Job option in the Enterprise Manager Console

I had just installed an 9.2.0.1 oracle db. In my Enterprise Manager Console, i don't see the job and event option like the documentation shows it. Can anybody tells me how to have these options in my Console ?

If you download the full oracle client (not the instant one), you have an option for installing the enterprise manager console. To be honest it is not exactly the same as the "old" enterprise manager .. but it looks like the same and if you don't use the whole enterprise manager functions it will be sufficient.
You also have the possibility to use a Web Interface with Oracle 10g. It is called Enterprise DB Console or if you want the whole framework it is called Grid Control.
