Install EPM 11.1.1.3 on solaris express 11

Hi all,
I tried to install Essbase v11 on solaris express 11 (in virtualbox) and it stopped during first step...
Package :
I copied *.zip with root user
I unzip all files with root user
I changed owner to oracle user (chown -R oracle *...)
System :
I created /home/oracle/.hyperion.solaris with "HYPERION_HOME" folder
I check javac -version : javac 1.6.0_21
$PATH : /usr/gnu/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin
I executed in current forlder : ./installTool.sh -console
Result :
oracle@solaris:/temp_EPM$ ./installTool.sh -console
./installTool.sh[33]: ./jre/solaris/1.6.0/bin/java: ./jre/solaris/1.6.0/bin/java: cannot execute [Invalid argument]
Could some explain me how to install EPM v11 on solaris platform ?

Am installing oracle 10g r2 on spark sun solaris. I did install the software without any pb, but when installing the database using dbca, I have this errors.
ORA-27154: post/wait create failed
ORA-27300: OS system dependent operation:semget failed with status: 28
ORA-27301: OS failure message: No space left on device
ORA-27302: failure occurred at: sskgpcreates
Edited my kernel parameters and in the /etc/system file, ai've added

Space aint an issue and dont know how to over come this error!
Should ai just install the db using scripts and run the neccessary .sql scripts instead of going through dbca?

This appears to be because of low semaphores setting. Did you reboot your server after making the /etc/system parameter changes ?

How to install owb server-side software on UNIX Solaris (SPACR-64)?
I've read the install guide
and it mentions
3. Start the installer by entering the following at the prompt:
cd mount_point
./runInstaller
I don't have access to any graphical interface on the UNIX box e.g. x-windows nor any cd with the software, just the solaris software downloaded from web - does this include the runinstaller
and is the runisnatller just a command line interface?
I hoped I would be able to download the software from oracle website and then simply run the a setup scrip?
Is it possible to do this? Would I simply substitute cd mount_point to cd <directory I put software)
I've never ran oracle universall installer on UNIX before.

Hi,
You can install the server-side software from the downloaded software.
You don't need the CD
You do need an X-windows client on your computer to connect to the server OR work directly on the server.
Without X-windows you cannot start the Oracle Universal Installer.
Maybe there is a command line installation, I have never used this.

Hi all. Can anyone tell me if it's possible to install EPM Architect (11.1.1.3) on Windows XP SP 3 with IIS 5.1 or some other web server?

Solaris Express, Dev. Edition 2/07 install problem

Im trying to install the solaris express developer edition 2/07 dvd i got in the mail.
Everything goes fine until i have to set up the hard drive for installation. I have two hard drives, 1 SATA (Server 2003), and a 20Gb IDE for this Solaris install.
When i click next to start installing, it drops out with an error against Solaris Software. the error is as follows:
ERROR: Could not create Fdisk partition table.
ERROR: Could not label disks
ERROR: Could not update disks with new configuration
ERROR: System installation failed
Pfinstall failed. Exit stat = java.lang.UNIXProcess@2af0812
sing existing Solaris fdisk partition (c2d1)
Im not a nub to linux but i have never used solaris and its been a few years since i've touched it - but im familiar with console.

You do not supply more comprehensive info on Your hardware. Therefore I would like to suggest quite conservative approach.
1. First of all it will be helpful to get from SUN's website the "Install check tool". It is an image (bootable CD) of diagnostic soft.
2. Disable in Bios the SATA disk.
3. Boot the computer with "Install_check_tool" CD inserted into the drive. I hope that this diagnostics will be OK.
4. Restart the computer and start Solaris installation. You can perform this step directly after step no. 2. Now Bios will see only IDE disc and installation should proceed OK. If not - supply more info on Your hardware and resulting (in this situation) diagnostics.

Solaris Express Zone install error with SUNWiiimr and SUNWcnetr

I got these errors when installing a new zone on a Solaris Express 1/08 (5.11) on a x64 box:

This problem seems some strange - this time with Solaris 10u4, from 10 containers installed on a brand new X2200 (2x cpu) only one do not output those errors, but just this one cannot install the dsee or proxy. This time the errors were from:
Installation of <SUNWxwplr> on zone <dsee-proxy> partially failed.
Installation of <SUNWdtdmr> on zone <dsee-proxy> partially failed.
Installation of <SUNWmconr> on zone <dsee-proxy> partially failed.
Installation of <SUNWrmwbr> on zone <dsee-proxy> partially failed.
Installation of <SUNWlvmr> on zone <dsee-proxy> partially failed.
Installation of <SUNWzebrar> on zone <dsee-proxy> partially failed.
So the machine was, too, just installed. After several hours, anoter atempt to install a zone, this time just this one, returned no errors - and the dsee installed without any complains. All configurations were for whole root zones. Used was Solaris 10u4 with the most recent patch cluster applied.

Problem with installing Solaris Express Community Edition(Virtual Machine)

When I start my virtual machine to install Solaris Express Community Edition(X86 edition), it just displays an character interface

Try seting "-jdkhome xxxxxxxxxx" in the ide.cfg file in your Forte \bin\ directory. Point it to the SDK install directory - that is, make "xxxxxxxxxx" the path to the SDK install.
You seem to be accessing a java.exe that is pointing to a location that is other than where jvm.dll is residing. This may get you to executing the correct java.exe.

Problem to install Directory Server 5.1 SP2 on Solaris

Hi
I need to install Directory Server 5.1 SP2 on Solaris 8. When I was asked to provide system user and system group, I provide "root" and "system". As a result, the installation fail message was shown and abort the installation.
However, I was install the Directory Server 5.1 SP1 on solaris 8 successfully by using "root" and "system". Does anybody know why?

Installing EPM 11.1.2.2 in Sandbox (VM) env - domain needed? How?

Hello,
I am trying to install EPM 11.1.2.2 in a Sandbox (VirtualBox VM) environment. Have the correct OS (Windows 2008 R2 Standard).
Q1: Do you need to have a domain installed (in the VM) to be able to use the "complete" (Essbase, Planning, FR, Workspace, SS, Webanalysis) products?
I completed the install, as per the instructions in the Running_Planning_on_Laptop whitepaper and rapid_deploy Oracle doc, with minor variations.
After the complete install, I was able to access Shared Services, Workspace, etc., without issues resolving the hostname (was finally able to figure that out).
However, when I try to connect EAS to SS, I get authentication issues.
Specifically, when I checked the logs, it has the following lines:
[EPMServer0] [ERROR] [ESSEAS-35505] [oracle.epm.essbase.eas] [tid: 35] [userId: *<anonymous>*] [ecid: 0000Jh9B_SG5yW^5xV_AiW1Gh^^i000001,0] [APP: EAS#11.1.2.0] Following Exception occurred for user admin. Message exception is EPMCSS-00301: Failed to authenticate user. Invalid credentials. Enter valid credentials.
This log is "easserver" in the path:
C:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\EPMSystem\servers\EPMServer0\logs
I only used 3 or 4 user names (mostly defaults), with the same password (in this sandbox env). I don't believe it's possible that every combination is wrong.
I noticed in some documents, it says that, if you run the config utility after install, it automatically converts from NATIVE security to SS security. When I explore SS's security, there is only one "user directory" tree - native, and from what I can see, the user I'm trying to use is there.
I tried to create a (new) MSAD directory in SS to try to make sure / check that the authentication is right, but I do not have a background in Networking, and this is a bit over my head.
I feel like something very basic is wrong, and I'm just not seeing it. It's hard to find what you're looking for when you don't know what it is.

When I searched the Middleware directory for diagnostics, I found several. The one I think you may be referring to is:
C:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\epmsystem1\diagnostics\logs\services
If this is what you are talking about, there are four files:
1. HyS9RaFrameworkAgentOut
2. HyS9EPMServer-syserr
3. HyS9EPMServer-sysout
4. HyS9RaFrameworkAgentErr

I'm not sure if it is the web console. I believe it may be. I know I installed the EAS client separately, after the basic install.

I don't specifically remember trying to use the EAS web console, but I'm not sure.

if so which version of Java have you installed on the machine.
Well, that's interesting. When I run cmd 'java -version' in the VM, I get the following message:
'java' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
However, when I check the Uninstall program list (in the VM Win 2008 Server R2 program list), the java version says:
Java (TM) 6 Update 29
Why that is, I'm not sure.

Installing EPM 11.1.2.2 Using windows 7 familly edition premium

Hi all,
I want to install EPM 11.1.1.2 on my personnal PC, so I can learn Hyperion. The pre install check tell me errors as follow:
EPMINS-01094: User Account Control is enabled. Installation may lead to unpredictable results and thus will be stopped.
EPMINS-01098: User has to be a member of Administrators group.
I have an admin account and I don't know how to unable UAC. What should I do ?

Symptoms
Installing EPM v11.1.2.1 fails with the error:
Error: "User Account Control is enabled. Installation may lead to unpredictable results and thus will be stopped."
EPMINS-01001: One or more preinstallation checks failed. Correct the errors before continuing with the installation.
Cause
User Account Control is enabled.
Solution
Per the EPM Installation Start Here Guide, "Prepare a user account", User Account Control must be disabled.
This can be done through User Accounts in Control Panel by clicking on Change User Account Control Settings, then drag the slider to Never notify.
This can also be accomplished using the following steps:
1. Click Start -> Control Panel.
2. In Control Panel, click User Accounts.
3. In the User Accounts window, click User Accounts.
4. In the User Accounts tasks window, click "Turn User Account Control on or off."
5. Uncheck the "Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer", and then click OK.
6. Click Restart Now to apply the change right away, or click Restart Later and close the User Accounts tasks window.
This change requires a reboot of the Windows 2008 Server.
