Install error 1722 and Custom Install fails too

I'm installing Java 1.5 (the 16MB offline) and/or the 235K online, problem is the same either way. I am installing on NT4.0 server sp6a.
When I choose Custom install, and go to the next screen. The Change
button is disabled. So I cannot change the install directory.
It seems like an InstallShield version problem. Like there's some new
dlls or exes of InstallShield that I need.
Otherwise, it's just Error 1722 again.
Any ideas appreciated.
Thanks, John

There is not solution to "error (-1)" on any forum it seems. I found one forum which suggested use of Tiny Umbrella. Any idea about that?

  • Flash Player 11.7.700.169 install errors 1722 Action NewCustomAction1

    Hi,
Yet again on mass deployment of Flash updates we are seeing problems.  We update all Flash agents via SCCM and SCUP and have recently published the 11.7 update.
A very high proportion of the machines (Windows 7 x64) fail with this in the event viewer:
Product: Adobe Flash Player 11 ActiveX -- Error 1722.There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Action NewCustomAction1, location: C:\Windows\TEMP\InstallAX_11_7_700_169.exe, command: -install -msi
You are then left with no version of Flash as it has already removed 11.6.
Based on previous versions with problems I tried deleting any keys related to Flash from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Products and also all of the "Safe Versions" keys.  Even after doing this the problem still exists.
Looking for a solid, remote solution as I've got about 8,000 machines to work on.  The relevant parts of the flashinstalllog are below:

    Hi,
For those regarding iSpring user, we spent a lot of time in debugging that too.
here are the pieces we got and hope it helps.
The audio would got cut off once you tried to unload as2 swf. According to the SwfLoader doc, it would try to cut off all resources if possible (including audio object...). And it seems that their new flash player 11.7 would try to forcefully clear out stuffs that it shouldn't
Our hackaround is to call the netstream.seek() to trigger the sound again. Playing sound object doesn't work
Please adobe!! help us to keep our job here. It would be poor for us by just releasing a player without knowing which part of the backward compatibilities that it is about to break but just post a note on the page to say it may break something old.
    Thanks,
    Venant

  • New Internal Hard Drive and Clean Install: Errors, Frustration and Hopelessness

    First Off:
Macbook 13" (late 2009) ... It was running Mountain Lion 10.8.5 with 2 gigs of memory and 160gig stock hard drive.
I started this process almost a week ago and despite numerous attempts every night I have had no luck. I appologize if the details here are fuzzy, my head is spinning after reading dozens of threads and attempting multiple solutions to each error I've received and i cant remember everything I've tried so far...
I got my new memory in the mail first, upgraded to 4 gigs and everything works fine with that..
Next came my new Seagate Momentus 750 gb 7200 rpm SATA 3gb/s 16Mb Internal Hard Drive.
Using this guide: http://osxdaily.com/2012/02/17/make-bootable-os-x-10-8-mountain-lion-usb-install -drive/ (and cross checking other guides) I ended up creating a bootable external drive using my 160gb External Firewire drive for my clean install to my new hard drive. So far so good.
I then shut down the computer, removed the old internal hard drive, installed the new, restarted the computer holding option key and booted up using the External Hard Drive, and the install software started fine. Note: I have attempted to re-erase the drive so many times without luck that I cant remember if I actually successfully erased the drive originally to begin with the installation, but either way I started the OSX reinstall and it got almost all the way finished before it gave me the error message:
"Install failed. Mac OS X Lion couldn’t be installed, because the disk (volume name) is damaged and can’t be repaired. Click restart to restart your computer and try installing again."
restarting of course did nothing, it repeatedly gave me error messages and made me quit installation...
Disk Utility isnt getting me anywhere, im either getting errors like:
"POSIX reports: the operation couldnt be completed. device no configured"
it wont allow me to erase the drive or partition the drive
"Disk Erase failed with the error: File System Formatter Failed"
and everytime the drive fails to erase or partition, it disappears from the list of drives on the left of the disk utility screen and i have to restart the computer for it to reappear for a second try. Typically the volume under the drive is greyed out and says that it is unmounted.
Ive zapped the PRAM.... and Ive done other things that I cant quite remember right now because my brain is boiling from reading too many **** threads on multiple devices....
    halp.
    halp me plase.

    So funny story...
While writing this discussion I had to come to the computer and try to erase the drive so I could see the error code for reference. The erase didnt work as usual but I wrote the error code down here.
I also could not remember the error code for partitioning the drive so I attempted that as well so I could write down the code, and this time it magically partitioned successfully! The only thing I did differently was that I didn't rename the partition because i figured it wouldn't matter anyway. Since the partition was successful, I attempted the Reinstall of ML and it magically worked!!
I dont know what the **** happened but ive been attempting this install every night for like 3 hours since Monday and this is the first time it went through... for no apparent reason?
    Ghosts? Magic? Full Moon?
    we may never know...
    Thanks anyways guys!

  • Java8u25 install error 1722

    Hi,
I need a logic to uninstall all older java versions and install Java 8 Update 25.
When I tried with a script to uninstall all older versions of Java and install the new one, Older versions getting uninstalled but new Java8u25 fails to install with error 1722 in the MSI logfile. Please help me to install Java8u25 in 30000 machines through Altiris deployment without any issue.
Is there any particular file or registry to be deleted before installl of Java8?
    Error is as below:
Product: Java 8 Update 25 -- Error 1722. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Action installexe, location: C:\Windows\Installer\MSIC2A4.tmp, command: /s INSTALLDIR="C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.8.0_25\\" EULA=0 REPAIRMODE=0

I have the same problem and tried all the advised given in this forum and others, but nothing work. But I found a way to avoid the 1722 error. It's not the best solution and requires trial and re-trial.
You need to install unix like shell, e.g. AT&T korn shell or Windows SFU to follow my detective work. The shell allow you to easily see and modify file ownership and group setting.
When you install jdk1.5.0_xx and failed, check the directory and files created by the installation. Some of them have your name, but others has "Administrators" as user and "SYSTEM" as group.
The problem, I suspected, is the file permission. The "Administrators:SYSTEM" may have something to do with the 1722 error.
    Here are my steps:
    1. Uninstall the failed setup. Remove the directory if needed.
    2. In korn shell type a while loop that change ownership of directory recursively, e.g.
    while true
    do
    chown -R <name>:None <directory>
    done
    3. Run java installation. When the installation start copying files, press Enter to on the korn shell to execute the while loop.
    4. If the installation complains about not being able to write to disk, stop the while loop, but be ready to reexecute after you click "Retry".
    5. The installation will fail when it try to install JRE on "Program Files/Java/jre....." because of the same reason.
    6. Go to add/remove program. Select Java 1.5.0_xxx and pick Modify. Set the install option for JRE to "do not install" then continue.
    7. To install JRE you need to do step #6, but choose "install on local". Before you click "Next" see #8.
    8. Now you have to create a while loop for JRE directory and repeat the step above.
I know this is not the best solution, but it works for me. I don't know the side effect of changing the file ownership and group on security, etc. Anybody know?
    Hope this help.

  • SAP Crystal Reports 2011: Error INS00140 and other install errors

    Hi all,
There have been many customers who have downloaded the Crystal Reports 2011 installation package and have run into an error when the installer attempts to recognize the keycode being used.  The error received is "The Product Keycode is not valid INS00140."
This thread is meant to track all current resolutions that have been determined based on troubleshooting with customers thus far. In addition, the thread will provide you with the list of things that we need to know in order to properly troubleshoot the issue.
Before attempting any of the steps below, please be sure that you are using the latest version of Crystal Reports 2011 which is SP02. You can download this version from the SAP [website|http://www.sap.com/solutions/sap-crystal-solutions/query-reporting-analysis/sapcrystalreports/index.epx].
    Coy
    ====================
    Resolution Options
Windows XP & Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable
If you are installing Crystal Reports 2011 on Windows XP, then you need to ensure that the following Microsoft patches are not installed on the machine. You can check this by using the Add / Remove Programs dialogue.
    KB2467175
    KB2467174
    KB2467173
If any of these are installed, then please remove them before attempting to install Crystal Reports 2011.
Installing with Dashboard Design 2011 or Presentation Design 2011
If you are installing Crystal Reports 2011 on the same machine as Dashboard Design 2011 or Presentation Design 2011, then there may be a problem with the registry key that points to the location of the keydecoder DLL. To check this, launch run regedit and navigate to the following location:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SAP BusinessObjects\Suite XI 4.0\Shared Tools\keydecoder.dll
You want to make sure that the "path" key is pointing to the valid path for the keydecoder.dll. The correct path to the DLL should be: C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\win32_x8keydecoder.dll.
    Uppercase License Key
In addition to the above, you need to make sure that you are entering the license key in all uppercase characters. There is a current issue with the installer where it does not accept lower case characters.
Fix - Coming in SP02, but can implement manually for now
Locate the BCM-4-0.dll.2.Config file in the <install package directory>\dunit\product.crystalreports-4.0-core-32\actions
(replace crystalreports with crystalreportsjava for CR for Ent and xcelsius for dashboards)
    Open BCM-4-0.dll.2.Config
    Locate this line:
    <bindingRedirect oldVersion="8.0.50727.0-8.0.50727.1434" newVersion="8.0.50727.4053" />
Modify the oldVersion number to make the line like this one:
    <bindingRedirect oldVersion="8.0.50727.0-8.0.50727.4053" newVersion="8.0.50727.4053" />
This should allow you to install without issue.
    Further Troubleshooting
If none of the above helps to resolve the issue, then we need the following:
The installation logs from the following folder: C:\Documents and Settings\<YOUR USER NAME>\Local Settings\Temp\<DATE OF YOUR LAST ATTEMPTED INSTALLATION>
The results from attempting to run the keycode validator directly. You can find it under the folders that contain the installation package. For example, C:\Documents and Settings\<YOUR USER NAME>\My Documents\CrystalReports2011\DATA_UNITS\CrystalReports\dunit\product.crystalreports-4.0-core 32\actions\isKeyCodeValid.exe -keycode <YOUR KEYCODE> -version 140 -property CR.EnableCR
You should submit a new forum post with relevant details about the error and provide links to download the logs generated by following the above steps.
Edited by: Don Williams on Dec 22, 2011 7:53 AM

    Then try these:
    1. Download the latest version of the installation package for Crystal Reports 2011. To verify the version of extracted package, open productid.txt file located at: {installation package}\DATA_UNITS\CrystalReports\.
Make sure it is not less than 14.0.2...
    2. Where to download Crystal Reports 2011 installation from: - free trial from SAP Online shop http://www.sap.com/solutions/sapbusinessobjects/sme/freetrials/index.epx - from SDN Community page http://service.sap.com/sap/bc/bsp/spn/bobj_download/main.htm - from Service Market Place http://service.sap.com/sbop-downloads Note: downloads from all above listed locations are fully functional product installations. Trial version defined by expiring key code, not by functionality limitations.
    3. Copy the installation package to a hard drive if possible to avoid any networking issues.
    4. Login to the machine as Local ADMINISTRATOR.
    5. Temporary disable any kind of firewall, antivirus, network security etc., if possible.
    6. On the latest versions of Windows, even if logged in as local Administrator, right-click the setup.exe and select "Run as Administrator". If do not have Administrator account, right click "Run as" Select current user and uncheck the "Protect my computer and data from unauthorized program activity".
    7. Make sure there is enough space on the computer. If not sure about the space, run "Custom" installation with minimum components. Non-mandatory components could be added at any time.
    8. Finally, if there is an existing "InstallData" folder under C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects rename it to "InstallDataOLD"

    Hi all,
I was trying to install QT 7.x on this XP Pro machine and it failed and now after uninstalling QT and iTunes, I get errors 1714 and 1603 when trying to re-install iTunes.
I tried the QT installer by itself, will not install

I went thru regedt32 and deleted all registries for items and QT and also all files, still no go.
And the above error message is pointing to a file that is right where the error says, so its not missing.
I have spent about 2 days trying to resolve this and WANT to BUY QT 7 pro, but not if it is never going to run onthis machine.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

I'm getting the same error messages when trying to install the latest version of Quicktime along with the message 'unable to locate file c:\windows\downloaded installations\{59C4F14F-7590-45FC-BE9F-A67AB3590709}\iTunes.msi

I tried running the program that Jacumba recommends to no avail.

  • Vista Service Pack 2 install error message and Realtek incompatibility

Just want to inform that service pack 2 install gave me an error message when I installed it on a clean rebuild of my Toshiba laptop. Something about an incompatible driver. As I had already installed the latest drivers from Toshiba pages, I choose the 'ignore and continue' action at install, and the update successfully completed.
I then ran the Windows Upgrade advisor utility (just search a Microsoft website to find it) which checks for hardware/driver compliance with Vista.
Their report says that the Realtek RTL8187B wireless adapter driver has an issue with Vista, and recommends that the latest driver be installed. Since I do have the latest Toshiba driver installed, what is the procedure to follow?
The wifi connection with this laptop functions well, with the only 'problem' being a 45 second delay when waking up from sleep mode to being able to open a new web page. This is the time it takes to establish a connection to my router/modem.

    > Their report says that the Realtek RTL8187B wireless adapter driver has an issue with Vista, and recommends that the latest driver be installed. Since I do have the latest Toshiba driver installed, what is the procedure to follow?
You could try the Realtek WLan driver from the Realtek driver page.
There you can find the latest Realtek drivers for different Realtek chips.
But to be honest I would not be worried about this massage.
Something like that can happens always after any installations of the Microsoft service packs.
I remember that many drivers were not supported by SP1 but they ran properly
    So take it easy ;)

Pat has a great point and asks a good question.  In addition to identifying the AIR application that is causing you problems you may also want to review Troubleshoot AIR installation | Windows - http://helpx.adobe.com/air/kb/troubleshoot-air-installation-windows.html.

  • Yosemite server install errors - devicemanager and wikiserver

    Hi all,

These are the error messages during setup:

I've tried resetting ProfileManager using: OS X Server: How to reset Profile Manager to its original state - Apple Support
And I've also removed the Server App and the "/Library/Server" folder, rebooted and reinstalling ServerApp which resulted in the same error messages.
Would anybody be able to help?

    Hi Jepping,
The server does have a static IP address and connects to 2 Windows 2008 domain controllers that are the DNS servers. So I don't really want to make it a DNS server if it doesn't really need to be.
sudo changeip -checkhostname results in dirserv:success = "success"
host -yourstaticipaddress resulted in the FQDN of the server.
host -result from previous entry- results in:  Host -computername-  not found: 2(SERVFAIL)
after entering my domain name in the DNS settings I did get my IP address when I did  "host -result from previous entry-"
I only created a self signed certificate, but that should be enough to get profile manager to work shouldn't it?
Profile manager is the main thing I am interested in at the moment, and wiki not so much.
I'm not real eager to do a new install of Yosemite, but I guess I should try it.
I did indeed try the repair permissions option in diskutil.

I'm sorry to beat a dead horse, but I've done a bunch of searches and can't seem to get a definitive as to why CS3 won't run... specifically Illustrator and InDesign. Here's the backstory...
I have a G5 Dual 2.0 (with 4mb ram). When running Tiger, CS3 works fine. I wanted to upgrade to Leopard, so I backed up my drive to an external drive. Did the complete nuke to install Leopard. Updated Leopard to the latest update, whilst fixing permission along the way. I did the install of CS3, and then the updates. Now, InDesign crashes on launch, and Illustrator will open... sometimes, but it will then crash when a new document is created, an existing file is double-clicked, etc.
I have run the clean deinstall procedure and tried to install again... same results.
Suggestions please! I want to use Leopard but at this rate I might not be able to.
    Thanks,
    Michael

Hey thanx for the replies Buko and Neil. I went back through my notes and I did install in the correct order CS3 then CS4. So much going on it is a good thing that I made notes, too much multi-tasking. Anyway, I guess I should correct myself and say that I installed CS3 then CS4 with no problems. I began to launch the various apps and found that AE CS3 and SB CS3 were not recognized, the CS4 versions were okay. They both had the NO symbol (circle with diagonal line) and would give an error when I tried to launch. The error was something along the lines of "software is not supported by this architecture". At first I thought it may be something with the sound settings or perhaps some minor glitch with the OS because I did not receive any warnings during installation. I ran the OS updater until it said I was up to date then started working on the Adobe updates. I never got an update for the two apps in question so I did a manual update on AE CS3 only to get the warning that the updater could not find the app. This got me thinking about uninstalling everything so I popped in the CS3 install cd and took a look at "reinstall" feature which listed AE and SB as not currently installed. I ran the installer for each app and after a lot of disk swapping between CS3 and CS4 it worked. All is well again.
Now some may ask why did I put myself through all of this torture? This is for a classroom environment and we are offering training on both versions of the Adobe software. This is still easier than reimaging all of the class machines each time the class changes. I am looking forward to playing around with Time Machine to see if and how I can implement it into my workflow.
Neil, I figured that I would not be able to install Tiger but I was hoping. I have ghost images of previous builds that would make my life a lot easier if they would work. I actually got the image onto the new iMac but performance was flakey.
Thanx again for the input. I hope that my experiences can help someone else. Any questions feel free to email me.
