Install Error Adobe Reader 9.0

I've read all the previous topics on the forum, as well as the knowledge base and NOTHING is working. First, I get the error getplus_reg.exe, then I "click here to dowload" (because it never starts) then I get the error Adbe90_en_US[1].exe ... sorry for the inconvenience but must close. I've gotten rid of tmp files and registry entries, all previous references to reader. Now I'm stuck and can't view any pdf files because all previous versions are gone from my computer. I tried to find the setup files per topic 83, but I don't have any because I can't get past the installer. Anyone that can offer some suggestions, I would be very GREATFUL!!

This is the solution that finally worked for me. I am running XP-SP3. I uninstalled Symantec Endpoint and SpyBot then restarted. Completed a Disk Cleanup (cleaning all offline content, temp files, recycle bin, etc.), then restarted. I then went to Adobe and when it wanted to load the active X controller, I did not and instead went to the if your download doesn't start "click here to download" and SUCCESS!! It loaded with no ERRORS. You can then reinstall your anti-virus, spyware software!

Assuming that you are in Win (which you haven't said), you can try using this tool to first remove all traces of previous versions of Reader:
    http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
Then, download the full offline Reader installer from
    http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
and run it immediately after restarting your computer.

Why can't I open pdf's after install of adobe reader? Should I see it in system preferences?

There are can be reasons PDFs cannot be opened. For example, some forms created with Lifecycle Designer cannot be opened.
Are you sure the file is a PDF? Can you open it in Adobe Reader or Acrobat on a Mac or PC? Does it give an error message when you try to open it?

  • Is there a 64 bit install for Adobe Reader?

    Hello,
I want to make a note that I did a search on the form, using the following text
"Is there a 64 bit install for adobe reader?"
And I did not find my answer.  That is why I'm posting this as a question.
So, with that out of the way....
I am getting ready to build a new computer for myself, and will be running Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit.  Before I begin, I want to make sure I have all of my software that I want installed, and I am doing research on each program to see if there is a 64 bit version that can be installed.  What I would like to do is have as many as my programs that I install be 64 bit as possible.  I know that not every program will be 64 bit, but I did want to get as many of them as possible to be 64 bit applications.
As I do want a PDF reader on my computer, and I have used Adobe Reader for years, I started looking on the web site to download the current version.  However, I did not see any place that I could download a 64 bit version of Adobe Reader.
That is why I'm here asking.  Is there a 64 bit version of Adobe Reader that I can download?  If so, where is it on the web site?
This does lead me to a follow up question.  Is there a 64 bit version of the Flash Player, as well as the Shockwave player?  If so, where can I download them from as well.
    Thanks in advance,

Again, I think you need to check the Microsoft web page, as I was able to find 64 bit versions of IE8 for download.
The URL to access the page is
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/internet-explorer/downloads/ie-8
From that page, I am able to select a 64 bit version of IE 8 for the following Operating Systems
      -- Windows XP 64 Bit
      -- Windows Vista 64 Bit
      -- Windows Server 2003 64 Bit
      -- Windows Server 2008 64 Bit
Windows 7 is not listed as an option as it already comes with IE8 installed by default.
Looks to me that Microsoft has already released a 64 bit version of IE8.
In fact, I went ahead and downloaded IE8 for Windows 2003 Server x64 bit, and looked at the details of the file.  Each microsoft download has a digital signature associated with them, showing a date and time of when the exe was built.
According to what is shown below, IE8 for Windows Server 2003 has been around since Sunday, March 08, 2009.
So, what has adobe been doing since March of 2009?  IE8 has been 64 bit for well over 2 years now (it will be 3 in March of 2012). While I know that it does take time to develop new applications, I don't think it would take 3 years for Adobe to come up with a 64 bit version of Reader that could have been built under the 64 bit platform.

  • Silent install for adobe reader version 110003

silent install for adobe reader version 110003

    Hi,
I don't know your more details about how you pretend to deploy your Adobe Reader but I did this to my current deployment and many people on the company are happy with this:
1- I extracted the contents from the Adobe Reader installer.
2- I modified the MSI using Customization Wizard to hide some menus (Maybe you can skip this step if you don't need to customize it)
3- On SCCM 2012 I created a Script deployment with a CMD file which contains the following command for silent install. (You don't need to have an SCCM infrastructure to deploy it but it will help)
    start /wait msiexec /i "%~dp0AcroRead.msi" /q TRANSFORMS="%~dp0AcroRead.mst" PATCH="%~dp0AdbeRdrUpd11001_MUI.msp;%~dp0AdbeRdrSecUpd11002.msp"
    or
    msiexec /i "%~dp0AcroRead.msi" /q TRANSFORMS="%~dp0AcroRead.mst" PATCH="%~dp0AdbeRdrUpd11001_MUI.msp;%~dp0AdbeRdrSecUpd11002.msp"
    - On my case I used %~dp0 because I'm installing from a server caching files on client machines but if you pretend to test and install it locally avoid using: %~dp0 and put your absolut path. Like C:\Temp or your MSI and source files location.
    - Start /wait - Will execute your MSI installer file and then once is finished will proceed with the next command if any.
    - Transforms- will force the MSI to apply the custom settings I did on Customization Wizard)
    - PATCH- command will proceed to install the patches you may have at the moment 11.0.1, 11.0.2, etc...
Hope this will help you !

I have a new hp tower running windows 8.1 and have been trying to install the adobe reader.  The installer downloads (1meg) and I choose to run it but it just sits with an empty screen.  I've checked task manager and it takes up memory but does nothing.  After letting it run for 3-4 minutes I kill the task.  What can I do to get the reader installed on this machine?  I've tried using chrome, firefox and explorer and get the same results with each.

Try the offline installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/

  • I can't install free Adobe Reader

I'm using MAC OSX 10.9.4. I had some Adobe product, but recently I had some problem with other programs, so I cancelled it, and I tryed to install new Adobe Reader, but I can't, any versione, and any other Adobe product now. The download starts, but when I try to install it's locked, and the window closes without any alert message. What can I do? I need only a simple free Adobe Reader.

    Try the installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/

  • I still can't install the adobe reader. I am looking for adit options button , also to add the web sit to the allowed sites. where can I find it ?

I have attempted to install an adobe reader update. where can I find the edit options button to click on it to add the website www.adobe.com on the allowed sites ? I can't find it.
== this evening when i tryed installing the update for adobe reader

The instructions on the Adobe site are outdated and do no longer apply to current Firefox versions and you can ignore those instructions and save the Adobe installer to your desktop and start the installation with a double-click on that file.

  • Custom install of Adobe Reader questions

    HI,
I used the Adobe Customization Wizard to create a custom install of Adobe Reader 10.1 for some Citrix servers.
I'd like to use 10.1.1 but can't find a base install for this, only an update.
This means I need to run the custom 10.1 and then run the 10.1.1 update.
    Is there any other way?
I didn't see any documentation to bundle the 10.1.1 update into the 10.1 install so it install automatically.
    Thanks

    Hi john,
Sorry, I didn't spot that. Hope I didn't waste your time.
It looks to me as if the update hasn't been tagged on to the original installation. Here's the download link for all of them: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?platform=windows&product=10
The only tools I can find are these: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/technical-resources.html#documentation-guides but you probably have them already.
Maybe one of the other contributors might be able to suggest an alternative method of achieving your goal.

  • Upon a failed install of Adobe Reader I get an error "Actionlist Not Found"

I am running Windows 7 64-bit. I have already uninstalled Adobe Reader and Flash and rebooted many times in the process. I can download everything just fine. I can start the installation process, but after it "initializes" the instalation freezes at 0% for a moment then I get an error. The window is "Adobe Has Encountered Problems" and in the window it says "Actionlist Not Found." I have no idea what this means or what I can do to fix it. I also get the same error when I try to install Flash Player. Please note that I have tried directly installing by choosing my operating system and whatnot from Adobe.com. What can I do to fix this?

You need to download and run the offline installers.
