Install Error message upgrading to SP6

Hi,
We are currently upgrading our SAP BI 4.0 Platform (SP4 Patch 8) to SP6. In our test environment installation ends with a dialog box saying "SAP BI 4.0 SP6 has encountered an error during the install process".
I have reviewed the content of the setupengine.log file placed at ..\InstallData\logs. The only lines containing the error word are showed below:
(1)  19:03:30.184 Error:GetSeedElementList(): unrecognized element under element 'install': diskCostInfo
(2) 19:07:36.020 Error: Attempting to read invalid argument: EnableBackButton
(3) 19:30:51.317 2013/07/01, 07:30:51: Attempting to stop Service BOEXI40SIABIENT1, current status is 4, existing error code: 0
(4) 19:58:08.662 Error: Icon doesn't exist: D:\BO\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\wdeploy\wdeploy.ico
  (5) 20:12:40.947 Unable to find servers in CMS ES-W08-BIENT1:6400 and cluster  with kind cms and service null. All such servers could be down or disabled by the Administrator.(FWM 01014) ERROR: Could not log into CMS "ES-W08-BIENT1:6400" with the provided credentials. Help: Verify the values for -cms,
-username and -password, and verify the CMS is running.
  20:39:18.173 Error: Extra argfound: ShowInstallCompleteBackButton
I have checked that  some of these message errors already appeared in other log installations where process finished without the mentioned dialog box message (E.g: 1,2,3,4). I suspect that BO install end dialog arises from message 5 (Service was not temporarily available because it was may be taken too much time to start).
Currently system seems to work fine but the final BO install dialog message does not let me too quiet. We have repetead the install process in another environment (PRE) with exactly the same result. Do you think that the install process can be considered fine in this case?
Thanks in advance,

Hi,
I already tried to repair it (in both cases I followed suggested best practices: servers not required stopped, and so on...) but the error appears again with same message in log.
I noticed that during the install the instllation process was a long time stopped with the message "Waiting for start CMS for first time.....", so I assume that by some reason the CMS was taking much more time to start that the expected one by the installation.
SIA was running after post installation. I have restarted the server and it starts automatically without issues.
Thanks,

i upgraded to Lion and now itune upgrade will not install (error message appears)

iPhoto needs to be upgraded in order to work with Mavericks. You can do that via Software Update or the App Store.
The iWork apps are free with a new iOS device since 1 SEP 2013. They are free with a new Mac since 1 OCT 2013. They are also free with the upgrade to OS X Mavericks 10.9 if you had the previous version installed when you upgraded.
Upgrading iPhoto does not involve your iPhoto Library. Your photos will still be there. But it never hurts to make a backup first.

• Itunes install error message - program not found ...x64/difxinst64.exe

itunes install error message - program not found ...x64/difxinst64.exe
no problems with ITunes on Dell Inspiron Windows 7 until yesterday.  ITunes version 11.0.2.  iphone won't connect stating required software is not installed.  uninstall and install 64 bit version of iTunes.  I have 64 bit version already.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled 5 times already.  When re-installing ITunes get error message c:\programdata\34be82c4-e596-4e99-a191-52c6199ebf6\x64\difxinst64.exe.  file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. please install or create an association in the Default Programs control panel.   iTunes install continues after the difxinst64.exe error message but then get the iphone cannot be used error message again.  therefore, I can't sync my iphone with iTunes until I figure this out.
can't win for losing.  had iTunes on my windows 7 laptop for 4 years.  first time I've ever encountered this.

I am a PC Tech and had a customer with this issue. Ran across this post in my search and ended up finding the solution on my own. The problem isn't with the iTunes software but the installer for the GEARAspi drivers. Really the issues is with the file type asssociations in the windows registry. On the system I was working on the HKCR key for .exe should point to the exefile key but pointed to nothing. To fix it create a new txt document and paste the following in (only paste what is in between the

tags):
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.exe]
@="exefile"
"Content Type"="application/x-msdownload"
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.exe\PersistentHandler]
@="{098f2470-bae0-11cd-b579-08002b30bfeb}"
Now change the extension from .txt to .reg. Then right click and select merge. iTunes should now install properly.

Hi Again atadams77!
Tiger is available for purchase at The Apple Store (U.S.).
Panther, is no longer available directly from the Apple Online Store, as Tiger 10.4.x is the most up to date OS.
If you know what to look for, a Full Retail Version, of the Panther Install CDs, or a Full Retail Version, of the Tiger Install DVD, can also be purchased rather inexpensively, at some online Apple retailers, Amazon, eBay, AppleRescue, FastMac, etc.
Be sure not to purchase grey, upgrade or machine specific CDs or DVDs.
Panther is only on CDs, not DVDs.
Unless purchased from AppleRescue, the discs should look exactly like the images in the above links, and not say Upgrade on them.

Software Update, Upgrade: What's The Difference?
Once Panther 10.3.x is installed, you can use the 10.3.9 Combo Update, to upgrade to the final version.
As has been posted, your Mac meets the Tiger System Requirements.
If you install that, use the PPC 10.4.9 Combo Update, to upgrade to the current version.
Additionally, "Tiger ships on a DVD, but if your Mac doesn’t have a built-in DVD-ROM player, you’ll need CD media."
AppleRescue, sells a Tiger installation set on CD

• 'Wi-Fi: Hardware not installed' error message, as if no modem

I am using a MacBook Air 13" late 2013 with Yosemite. I am not at home but have a valid working wifi network available in a University. Suddenly my internal modem is not recognised. What to do?
'Wi-Fi: Hardware not installed'  is the error message as if it is not found.

In some cases, this issue is caused by a hardware fault. A loose connection, a short circuit, or a microscopic break in a solder joint may open and close depending on temperature, making the failure intermittent.
Test after taking each of the following steps that you haven't already taken. Back up all data before making any changes.
1. If you can connect to the Internet via Ethernet, Bluetooth, or a USB network device, make sure all available OS X updates are installed. If Wi-Fi is your only means of network access, skip this step.
2.. There are a few reports that the problem was solved by unchecking the box marked
              Wake for Wi-Fi network access
in the Power Adapter tab of the Energy Saver preference pane. I can't confirm.
3. Reset the NVRAM.
4. Reset the System Management Controller.
5. Start up in Recovery mode. In the menu bar of the OS X Utilities screen, there's a Wi-Fi menu. Try to connect. If it works, select Install OS X. If your Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade, so make a note of those before you begin.
6. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider.

• Vista Service Pack 2 install error message and Realtek incompatibility

Just want to inform that service pack 2 install gave me an error message when I installed it on a clean rebuild of my Toshiba laptop. Something about an incompatible driver. As I had already installed the latest drivers from Toshiba pages, I choose the 'ignore and continue' action at install, and the update successfully completed.
I then ran the Windows Upgrade advisor utility (just search a Microsoft website to find it) which checks for hardware/driver compliance with Vista.
Their report says that the Realtek RTL8187B wireless adapter driver has an issue with Vista, and recommends that the latest driver be installed. Since I do have the latest Toshiba driver installed, what is the procedure to follow?
The wifi connection with this laptop functions well, with the only 'problem' being a 45 second delay when waking up from sleep mode to being able to open a new web page. This is the time it takes to establish a connection to my router/modem.

> Their report says that the Realtek RTL8187B wireless adapter driver has an issue with Vista, and recommends that the latest driver be installed. Since I do have the latest Toshiba driver installed, what is the procedure to follow?
You could try the Realtek WLan driver from the Realtek driver page.
There you can find the latest Realtek drivers for different Realtek chips.
But to be honest I would not be worried about this massage.
Something like that can happens always after any installations of the Microsoft service packs.
I remember that many drivers were not supported by SP1 but they ran properly
So take it easy ;)

• PowerBook G4 install error message

Hello
I've got another thread about the nightmare that is installing this **** OS here on a PowerBook in this forum. But, I just got a new error and I think that it deserves its own thread.
Background: Installing 10.5, PowerBook G4, 1GB RAM. Hard Drive had 10.3.9 on it, tried an upgrade and that failed miserably. We got the data off of the PB and wiped the HD clean. The HD is less than 3 weeks old BTW.
Tried installing again a little while ago and it got to 39 minutes remaining - I was tense and anxious. I didn't even want to look lest I jinx it and it all goes to ****. Well, guess what....
Here's some of the stuff I see here:
System Failure: cpu=0; code=00000001 (Corrupt Stack)
Exception state (sv=0x1e670a00)
PC=0x000B2370.........; XCP=0x00000098 (System Failure)
Backtrace:
backtrace terminated - frame outside of RAM: v=0x1F94BB10, p=000F8E0B
Proceeding back via exception chain:
Exception State (sv=0x1e886c80)
a whole bunch of other stuff
BSD process name corresponding to current thread: payloadExtractor
Kernel Version:
Darwin Kernel 9.0.0
root :xnu-1228`1/RELEASE_PPC panic
Repeats the backtrace error messages
BSD process name corresponding to current thread: payloadExtractor panic: We are hanging here...
So, that's the gist of the stuff I see here on her screen. The OS screen is still in the back, this is written over it.
Ideas? Should we all go punch Steve Jobs now?

Hi,
I came across an error similar to this, (though not with Leopard). The error was with an eMac that would not install apps. Installers would return errors such as "Data does not match". It turned out that some RAM was faulty and was corrupting the data as it was being extracted into RAM after which it was failing the checksum.
When you install OS X, (Leopard or previous), as the HD is going to be installed on the OS is loaded from the CD and is installed into RAM to run the machine. Once the install is initiated data is copied from the disc into RAM extracted/expanded and then copied onto the HD. As such installing an OS is a RAM intensive process.
Thinking about it, I have had errors showing up when reinstalling an OS which didn't show up before because the RAM had never been fully used before.
Cutting to the chase I would say that there is a faulty bit of RAM in the PowerBook, (there is likely to be two 512MB DIMMS). I would try removing one and trying the install again. If it fails then try the other bit of RAM and do a re-install. If it works I would try testing the other bit because faulty RAM can cause all sorts of data corruption that can sometimes take a while to manifest itself.
Hope this helps
Robbie

• Help with adobe fonts-buy, install error message

I would like to purchase a few fonts from adobe. How do I go about doing so and installing them? Would I need to update/upgrade them over the years?  Each time I go to the font site and click on a font, I got an error message : 'you may not have everything you need to view certain sections of adobe.com. . . ..it also mentioned my browser may be '......earlier than IE 4 which is not supported.....'  I have Win7 64 bit IE 10 so I don't know what's the problem. Any suggestion, anyone?

First of all, you cannot buy Adobe fonts, but rather you license them.
Assuming that you are referring to OpenType fonts, such fonts may be readily installed by either dragging and dropping the .otf font file into the Fonts Control Panel window or by right clicking on the .otf file and selecting the install function.
Although Adobe has done some minor updates to their fonts over the years, there have generally not been any available update or upgrade programs for them. The same is true for other major font vendors.
Windows 7 64-bit in conjunction with Internet Explorer 10 seems to work perfectly fine for me <http://www.adobe.com/type>.
Do you have Adobe Flash installed on your system? I believe that the website works without it, but that may be the problem.

• ITunes 7.7 Won't Install/Error message

Every time I attempt to upgrade I get this error message after the download finishes:
"Errors occurred when installing the updates. If there problem persists update manually"
So is there a way to fix this or how do I upgrade manually?

some folks have been having some success with pgfpdwife's technique in the following post:
pgfpdwife: Re: Could not open key HKEYLOCALMACHINE\Software\Classic\Quicktime.Quicktime\
note carefully that the technique involves a registry edit. be sure to make a backup of any keys you edit. if you're unfamiliar with your registry or registry editing, head to your XP help and support, do a search on registry, and read through the articles that come up.
if you would prefer not to try a registry edit, let's instead try getting an installer log to the Apple Engineers for a look:
1. Open a command prompt window. (Start menu -> Run. Type in "cmd". Hit return.)
2. Drag and drop iTunesSetup.exe onto the window so that the full pathname of the file is at the command line prompt.
3. Type in a space, then the following line:
/l*v C:\log.txt
4. Hit return.
5. The installer will create a log file:
C:\log.txt
Find that file and send it as an attachment to this email address in the email to Roy, be sure to include the following information:
- A link to the thread on Apple Discussions where the issue is being discussed
- The username you are using in the thread
- The version of iTunes you are using or trying to use
- A concise description of the issue you are seeing
- The exact text of the error message you are seeing (if you are seeing one)

• Install error message: "error 1606"

Adobe reader has stopped working. Every attempt to repair results in the same error message: "error 1606 COULD NOT ACCESS NETWORK LOCATION %APPDATA%\." I cannot uninstall 8.1, install any patches, or upgrade to 9.0. Has anyone seen this issue and have a resolve?

Please see this Microsoft KB article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/886549/
Some registry entry may have been corrupted, and it needs to be fixed.  If you don't know how to edit the registry, do you have somebody who is confident enough to edit the Windows registry?
Anyway, for now I just want you to check something in the registry - don't modify anything yet!
Click Start | Run | type regedit [Enter]
Once the Registry Editor is open, drill down to the following subkey
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders
In here you should see multiple entries, one being AppData - what is the data value on the right side?  It should be %USERPROFILE%\Application Data.
Please close the registry editor now, and report back what you found.
