Install ESR on CE 7.1 SR5

Hi Everyone,
I am trying to learn ESOA.
For this I have installed CE 7.1 SR5 and NWDS.
How could I view the Enterprise service repository?.
For the SR3, SDN had the ESR as a separate download item but now it is not available.
What has to be done for the CE SR5.

How can I post-install NWDI into CE 7.1 SR5?

Hello,
I have installed the SAP NetWeaver Composition Environment 7.1 SR5 Evalution SDN Version and the suitable NWDS for this. Both is working fine. But now I want to use a global dictionary for my simple datatypes, so that I can use them independent from a special development project.
As I have already find out the best way to realize this would be to use the NWDI. There´s no NWDI installed on other pcs. All development should done on one local pc, which already uses a local AS Java.
What do I have to do for using a global dictionary in the NWDI?
Do I have to download extra components for fitting in the NWDI in CE or NWDS?
Or have I just to change Configurations of the NWDS?

yes, my sources are also stored locally. Furthermore I will export some of my WebDynpros into SAP Portal.
For making reusing datatypes easier I want to build up a Global Dictionary, where I can store all my SimpleDatatypes. And of course all old and new NWDS-projects should have access to this Global Dictionary.
(For these readers who are also fit in developing with ABAP: the reason for my question ist that I´m looking for a complement of the ABAP Dictionary to have the benefits of something like that also in Java.)
I think the NWDI supports this. Does the NWDS support this also without the NWDI? If yes, please tell me how I can build up such a dictionary in the NWDS.

Finding hard time to install SAP NetWeaver CE 7.1 SR5 on Vista

Hello Every body,
I am trying to install NetWeaver CE 7.1 SR5 and i getting issues can any body tell me can i install NetWeaver CE 7.1 SR5 on Vista OS???
I don't have exact error message right now but i can document the sequence of steps what i am doing while installation and share it with you.

You can find PAM for CE 7.1 in www.service.sap.com
And in that he did not talk about vista corresponding to SR5 and
EHP1 is compatible for vista..

Yes, the project owner need to be aware of it. As bazzza mentioned, the Agent will be installed on the Linux box and it will connect to the database on linux at set intervals to collect monitoring data.
So you are looking at additional resource usage (Memory, CPU, Disk) on Linux box. And you should plan for additional Oracle Connection License for the database if you use Named User License.

On ESR 17, the DOCX attachments in my e-mail (I use Optonline) ignores the file extension. (my e-mail works fine with IE). This was fine with Firefox 10.0

I have been using Firefox for a long time. I installed ESR 17 recently. Since then I can't open DOCX files in my e-mail (optonline.net). It comes up as "eFax Messanger files". It obviously does not reconginze the file extension because whe i try to open it using Word it reads it as if it was a text file. If I use IE I have no problem opening the same attachment in my e-mail. I know atleast two other people who have the same problem.

Try to delete the mimeTypes.rdf file in the Firefox Profile Folder to reset all file actions.

ESR Installation with PI 7.0 / Netweaver 7.0 SR3

Dear Experts,
We have recently implemented PI 7.0, and the direction is to use ESR. I can find lots of information that PI7.1 and CE7.1 comes with ESR, but I am seeking information on how to install ESR with existing version, ie, PI7.0 without CE. ESR is uncharted waters to me. Here's my questions:
(1) How to add-in ESR component to existing PI7.0?
(2) I need help to kick start the installation/ even upgrade to ESR. Any documentation and links will be appreciated.

As said by stefan...ESR comes with PI 7.1 and CE 7.1
You cannot convert your IR of 7.0 to ESR
You have to install Pi 7.1 system in order to take the advantages of ESR

ESR role in different development, test, and production systems

Hello,
I want to know the role of ESR in development, test, and production system. Do I have to install ESR in every seprate installated SAP CE machine??? or should It be centrally and development., test and production systems can use it?? Does software release process effects in the whole landscape??
does Test and Production system requires ESR??? or all used services are embed into released software SCA files to test and production system???

Hey,
as far as I understood the ESR is a design time tool, i think you don't need to have a productive instance.
I think it should be installed on your PI systems. And I would prefer to have at least a devel and a test installation, to
separate services on test machines from those who are running on productive systems.
as you can't differentiate the services by their name but just by their systems, you should have separate ESR Instances.
Nevertheless I think it could be possible to run only one ESR....

Enterprise Services without ESR and EHP - is it possible

Hi All,
I am investigating if it is possible to setup Enterprise services without having ESR in our landscape. We also do not have EHP installed in our ERP system. We have SAP ECC 6.0 and PI 7.0.
I would like to install separate ES that I would like to use for our current project. I can't wait for installing ESR on PI and EHPs on ERP.
Is it possible? If it is how I can do it?

Contrary to what the previous post said (SudipPaul)...
It is possible to setup Enterprise Services without having an ESR in your landscape. You'll just need to ensure that the ECC version that you're on supports the Enterprise Service in question. You would typically search for possible Enterprise Services that you could use in the ES Workplace:

From the ES Workplace you can also test drive the Enterprise Service that you're thinking of using to see if it meets your requirements. You do this by applying for access to the relevant backend system/s on the same landing page as above.
If you have identified an Enterprise Service that you want to use (you'll normally notice the ECC version or Industry Solution version that the enterprise service is available from) then you'll need to check whether you're on the right ECC version or higher. Use this forum thread as an example to identify that:

So it is possible depending on whether the Enterprise Service is available with the ECC version you have & without PI or ESR or anything else. The ESR is a nice to have & just makes life a lot easier. A services registry is also a nice to have but not compulsory.

You can see the available product downloads for trial version here https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/downloads.. For the installation of CE 7.1 ESR on CE7.1.1 , i think you can use it. But may be you need to install it seperately for CE 7.1.1. Also you can check the bundle of CE7.1.1 EHP1, for what it contains. You can look into this link and find out.

Hi Team,
I have installed CE7.1 Now I am trying to configure ESR with CE7.1
I have downloaded ESR from service.sap.com
Before configuring ESR first we need to install the ESR.
Inorder to install ESR we need to have our CE7.1 Server up
When we try to install ESR total of 11 Components gets installed.
Problem I am facing is when it is trying to install 5th component
CE7.1 server is getting restarted.
I see the message " Running Phase Restart system to activate configuration "

Error in configuring NWDI - by using configuration wizard

Hello,
I have installed CE 7.1 and like to install NWDI. It requires me to execute some configuration wizards from administratio tool of the NW CE server. I am following the configuration guide for NWDI and initiated a "Change Management Service (CMS): Create an Application Skeleton". It asks me to provide a CMS URL when I give it http://localhost:50000 or http://cmsmain.localhost:50000 it give me an error that CMS is not running or the URL is not correct like this.
I got to know that CMS is builtin in NWDI and NWDI is builtin in NW CE 7.1. How to check whether CMS is installed. Or any idea to configure the NWDI.

You may be right. I am installed trial version for the moment. But I have installed ESR as additional comoponent which I have downloaded from Service Market Place. Let's try!!!!!
But the problem is that I have seen there are several components If I go Support Packages and Patches" -->SAP NetWeaver" -->SAP NETWEAVER" SAP EHP1 FOR SAP NW CE 7.1" -->Entry by Component" NW Development Infrastructure
what for components should I require from this site??? and how to deploy them on my server??? Unlike ESR there are SCA files which I am not sure how to deploy them on my server!!! If you know please let me know.

I recently entered into esoa practice. I have so many queries to put in.... Here are a few....
1) how customer gets benifit out of this esoa...??? how it solves customer problems in present market.??
2) In which form these services are served? (wsdl/ any common format acceptable by all kinds of applications or it is completely based on Netweaver platform?)
3) If it is a wsdl, why should we go for PI 7.1 only...we can also generate wsdls from all previous versions ?
4) According to my understanding from all the blogs & forums, all services will be developed and registered in ESR ( which resides locally in my company), then how these services are said to be global??
5) what is the big difference PI 7.1 makes over the previous versions?
6) How ES workplace is helpfull to my development?
7) I have installed ESR & CE 7.1 into my system.. but i am unable to find proper support from SDN ? Is it still have to come up? or Is no one using PI7.1 yet? or any other reasons??

Lot of questions. If you have gone through the ESOA Architecture/framework, you would have find answers to most of your questions.

SOA architecture is spreading with a good pace. Its always better to walk with market trends.
Customer can benfit from less implementation costs, fast implementations and finally the maintainace would be quite easier with ESOA

Yes it is WSDL. It is based on standards and acceptable to all SAP, Non-SAP applications.

PI 7.1 contains ESR where you can define/design your new Enterprise services with some governace mechanism. Technically Enterprise Services are Web Services but it has strong governance mechanism. You can develop/define simple web services from previous PI versions.

Nope, they will be developed in ESR( Enterprise Services Repository) and would be registered in Service Registry not ESR.

PI 7.1 is coming with lot of new features, but related to ESOA , main is the ESR.

ES Workplace provide test servers where SAP has already hosted implemented services. You can consume that services using your applications. And documentation is provided along every Enterprise Service. SAP has hosted ES Woorkplace for evaluation purpose only

A lot of documentation is available and also forums are available for both CE and ESR. But it will take time to reach at atht level when compared to other Netweaver products

SOAP and RFC

Hi All,
My scenario is SOAP-PI-RFC,
The webservice is being triggered from PORTAL-BPM and the values are updated to ECC through a RFC,
Could anyone explain me in detail for the following below queries,
1.I have created RFC connection as ABAP type for ,
a)PI-ECC(RFC)
b)ECC(RFC)-PI
is that fine ?
2.Other than JCo connections is anyother connections are needed for Portal-PI connectivity.

When the WSDL is being called by portal team,they are getting error as
"An error while downloading WSIL file. Error message: Deserializing xml stream http://xxxx:0000/sap/xi/engine?type=entry failed.com.sap.engine.services.webservices.espbase.wsdl.exceptions.WSDLException: Invalid Response Code: (500) Empty HTTP request received. Re run Configuration Wizards

Hello:
I've installed ESR on CE and ran the configuration wizard "Configuration of ESR in CE"
I missconfigured the sld host, appending the "http//" prefix, and now ESR attempts to connect to http:
http:
host:50000\sld
how can I re-run the configuration wizard so I correct this situation?

Unfortunately, with the SP3 release of ESR, it is not possible to run re-run the Configuration Wizard. But you don't have to do so to fix the problem - The configuration wizard only takes you through the step-by-step process.
You can change the settings manually by modifying the ESR properties. The post installation documentation is available here

Where to download ESR for SAP NetWeaver CE 7.1, SR5 TRAIL VERSION?

Hi Netweaver CE experts,
Can please someone tell me where do download Enterprise Service Repository (ESR) for SAP NetWeaver CE 7.1, SR5 ?
There is no such link in SDN and I need the TRAIL version , not the licensed one.
SAP used to have it with SR3 but I cannot find it for CE 7.1 SR5?
