Install Exchange server 2010 in Single forest Multiple AD domain Scenario

Hello Folks,
I am trying to install a new exchange 2010 server in an enviroment which never had exchange.
Below is the env details
1 Forest
3 AD domains
Coustmer's requirement is that he wants to install exchange in only domain and other domain will not have exchange server the domain A which has server install should host the exchange mailbox's for other 2 domains and also capable enough to handle
the mailflow of each domain with diffrent SMTP domain. Have done research but havent got the exact scenario.
Now i am confused on how to start with this project any feedback inputs would be of great help to me.
BR/Deepak

Exchange server is forest wide role, so it does not depend much on number of domains in the same forest. Usually, you install Exchange in forest root domain in your forest, and Exchange will host mailboxes from any user from entire forest. So, actually,
your scenario is supported by default :). Just go and install Exchange in one domain. As soon as you prepare other domains for Exchange recipients, you will be able to create mailboxes from all domains in your forest.
Please mark as helpful if you find my contribution useful or as an answer if it does answer your question. That will encourage me - and others - to take time out to help you. Thank you! Damir

  • Installing Exchange server 2010 on Server 2012

    I understand that SP3 supports Server 2012.
Looking at the size of the extracted files on SP3 this is not a slipstreamed later version of Exchange right?
Am I also right  in thinking, I just need to:-
    - Update the schema and Domain prep it
    - Use the Exchange 2010 with SP1 disk to complete base install and then apply SP3
    Does that sound about right?

    Hi,
Apart from the suggestions above, before you decide to install Exchange 2010, please make sure you meet the Exchange 2010 installation prerequisites. For more details about Exchange 2010 prerequisites, you can refer to the following article.

    Hi,
As all above saying, it is not supported to install Exchange server 2010 SP3 in Windows Server 2012 R2. Please refer to
    supported Operating Systems for
    Exchange server 2010:

Additionally, Windows Server 2012 R2 will be a supported operating system for Exchange Server 2013 with SP1 coming in early 2014. Let’s waiting for the release about it. For more information, please refer to:

  • Cannot install exchange server 2010 without small business server 2011

we purchased Windows Small Business server 2011 for one of our servers and installed the software and setup exchange server for the office.   We had some 3rd party software that would not work with small business server so we had to install windows
2008 r2 server.  we still need exchange server 2010.  Is there anyway to install without small business server?  When I entered the key in exchange server for the small business server it is saying that it is an invalid key.  We have a
genuine version of windows small business server.  is it all or nothing for the software.  Thanks

SBS is indeed all or nothing. Breaking apart the individual components is not allowed. That includes exchange. If you want exchange without SBS, you'll need to buy exchange separately and exchange CALs. If you only have SBS CALs and aren't going to run
SBS, you'll need Windows CALs as well.

    Hi,
ErrorRecord: Microsoft.Exchange.Management.Clients.FormsAuthenticationMarkPathUnknownSetError: An unexpected error occurred while modifying the forms authentication settings for path /LM/W3SVC/1.  The error returned was 5506.
This error is related to installing default SSL certificate on IIS.
Have a look into this to resolve it:
    http://www.experts-exchange.com/Software/Server_Software/Email_Servers/Exchange/Q_23852190.html
If it still not resolves your issue, then i would recommend to reinstall the IIS and then install the Exchange.

I found I could fix this by removing the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\eventlog\Microsoft-Exchange-Troubleshooters/Operational
    and everything underneath it.
My guess is that wevtutil didn't like adding an event log where it already existed but was slightly different in setup (no idea how, exactly).
After 24 hours I'll try post again - giving things time to make sure they are actually working.

  • SCCM 2012 AD Publishing in a Single Forest Multiple Domains

    Hi there,
Let me explain the situation first so that you get the idea. We have a single forest, multiple child domains AD environment. For some reasons each domain is being managed separately by their geographic location IT.
Forest has been extended for SCCM by the site who holds the forest root domain. Since everyone wants to manage their own domain and systems, each child domain have their own primary site server.
In one of the domains I have installed brand new SCCM 2012 R2. I haven't done anything yet, havent turned on any discovery except Heartbeat. Now I see one device, which belongs to another domain with totally separate IP address, shows in my SCCM site. I dont
    know why.
From here question arises for me. Correct me if I'm wrong and please advice what to do domain/forest wide.
    1. System Container is needed in each child domain, not in the forest, right?
    2. Where does/should each SCCM primary site publish information; in each domain or in the forest root domain?
    3. Under Administration > Overview > Site Configuration > Sites > Properties > Publishing I see forest root domain name and its checked.
Under Administration > Overview > Hierarchy Configuration > Active Directory Forests > Properties > Publishing my site is checked and its the only one in there. In that same window I went ahead and specified my own domain hoping
    to cure the possible problem.
So, why would that one device show up in this site? I have disabled Heartbeat together with other discoveries for now till I make everything ready.
Thanks for your help in advance.

    1. Under Administration > Overview > Site Configuration > Sites > Properties > Publishing If I uncheck forest root domain will devices on my child domain still be able to find my site server?
    2. Under Administration > Overview > Hierarchy Configuration > Active Directory Forests > Properties > Publishing my site is checked and its the only one in there. In that same window I went ahead and specified my own domain
hoping to cure the possible problem. Is this a good practice?
    3. "When clients look for ConfigMgr info, they use GC lookups meaning they return objects from every System Management container in the forest." So, which one do clients choose and how?
    4. "For that one device, have you opened its properties and examined it?" Yes, what abou it? Its found based on Heartbeat Discovery agent (when heartbeat was enabled).
    5. "Have you reviewed the boundaries and boundary groups set up for site assignment?" Yes, as I mentioned this device belongs to different domain and totally outside of my AD site and SCCM boundaries.
This is fresh install and not in production yet. I have disabled Heartbeat temporarily so that I fix this problem. I will enable it after.

  • Exchange server 2010

    Hello everybody,
I created a domain named apex.local, afterwards i installed exchange server 2010 and i created users' mailboxes. Each user has its mail address made up of his name & apex.local (example:
[email protected]). But there is an issue i want to fix, i want to make a change so that
"[email protected]" becomes "[email protected]" without reinstalling exchange server 2010. How can i proceed to solve this problem??

    Hi,
To change the primary address, we need to add it in the accepted domain and an email address policy.
For more information, you can refer to the following article:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124423(v=exchg.141).aspx
And I’d like to add that we need to add the host name autodiscover.apex.org in the certificate.
If you have any question, please feel free to let me know.
    Thanks,

and when i searched on it i found solution like "Download the UM language packs and tried to install directly" so i downloaded "UMLanguagePack.en-US" from the below URL:
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-eg/download/details.aspx?id=36769
and when i tried to install it, i faced the below error:
also i searched on this error and i found solution in registry as the below:
Try remove registry key for the above error :
    "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Exchange\<Your Version >\UnifiedMessagingRole\LanguagePacks"
and after i did it, i found first error be solved and the second error still the same as the below:
    Error:
A Setup failure previously occurred while installing the UnifiedMessaging role. Either run Setup again for just
this role, or remove the role using Control Panel.
Is there a solution on this issue please i wanna solve it As soon as possible?
    Thanks in advance,

I solved the below error by editing in registry:
    Error:
A Setup failure previously occurred while installing the UnifiedMessaging role. Either run Setup again for just this role, or remove the role using Control Panel.
    Solution:
Open regedit (Start -> run), navigate to the following key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ExchangeServer\v14
Under each role, UnifiedMessagingRole, have a look for an action and watermark entry, Delete these 2 keys, and retry. it solve this error, and You can now run the installation again of your "UMLanguagePack.en-US". and its done and installed now.
After "UMLanguagePack.en-US" Installation, i tried to continue installation of Exchange Server 2010 SP3, but I faced the same first error in UM role setup as the below,
What can i Do? please help urgently.

    Hi,
Please make sure the account has required permissions: Schema Admins, Domain Admins, Enterprise Admins, and Organization Management.
And please check if you have meet the prerequisites for Exchange 2010 installation.
    Exchange 2010 Prerequisites
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb691354(v=exchg.141).aspx
In addition to the prerequisites, we also need to prepare AD and domain for Exchange 2010.
    Prepare Active Directory and Domains

  • Exchange Server 2010 with SP3 Management Tools

Recently I have installed brand new Exchange Server 2010 with SP1 in my test domain. Afterwards I upgraded it to Exchange Server 2010 with SP3. On client machine (Windows 7 Pro with SP1 x64) I run setup.exe for Exchange Server 2010 with SP1 installation
DVD to install Management Tools. All checks passed successfully but after installation was completed there was an error in EMC:
The World Wide Web Publishing Service (W3SVC) isn't running on any Exchange servers in the site.  If you want to connect to Remote Powershell, this service must be running.  Make sure that the W3SVC is running on at least one Exchange server.
Of course service is running. I read this has something to do with different versions of Exchange Server itself and Management Tools. Since there is no installation of Exchange Server 2010 with SP3 how to solve this? I assume if I have installation of Exchange
Server 2010 with slipstreamed Service Pack 3, management tools installed from this installation would work.
Also does this mean that, if I have working tools for Exchange Server and SP for it is installed later, tools will stop functioning?

I would install SP3 on all servers and workstation as SP1 and SP2 aren't supported anymore and see how it is behaving...

  • Exchange Server 2010 EMC Error

Hi, I have installed Exchange Server 2010 SP3 in Windows Server 2012 Domain Controller. After the successful installation, I am not able to view the options in the Exchange Management Console. It gives the error "The WinRM client cannot process the
request. It Cannot determine the content type of the HTTP response from the destination computer. The content type is absent or invalid."
Can anyone help on this issue to solve this. Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Babu

    Hi
Installing exchange 2010 or any version on a domain controller is not recommended.
Please check that all the IIS App pools are started, the relevant services are started etc. Is this in a production environment?

  • Exchange Server 2010 - Problem configuring my server 2008 so my clients can use Outlook to send/receive e-mails

    Hi,
I am new to the servers and domains stuff. Therefore i have setup succesfully a Server 2008 R2 server with AD, DHCP, DNS roles installed. I configured the roles as i wanted and then i installed Exchange Server 2010 so the clients can use Outlook to send
receive mails in and out of the domain.
I can send/receive mails inside the domain (disalfa.com) but i cannot send/receive mails outside the domain. I configured the Exchange properly, i am sure of that. I am 99,9% i did something wrong with the DNS (A records, MX records, etc.).
Also is there something i must do from the control panel of the site i purchased the domain name and the mails?
Can someone guide me so i can manage to work this out?
    Server 2008 -  192.168.1.250
    Registered Domain - disalfa.com
    Thank you in advance

    Hi ,
I recommend you refer to the following article to configure your external mail flow:
Configure Internet Mail Flow Directly Through a Hub Transport Server
    Prerequisites
Register MX resource records for all accepted domains in a public domain name system (DNS) server. Consult the documentation of your DNS provider for information about how to register MX records for your domain. Detailed procedures about how to complete
this step are outside the scope of this topic.
Configure network gateways to allow SMTP traffic to and from the Hub Transport server. Consult the documentation for your network routers and firewalls for information about how to route SMTP traffic to and from the Hub Transport server. Detailed procedures
about how to complete this step are outside the scope of this topic.
