Install Fatal Error

I'm encountering a fatal error when I attempt to install Expressions studio. I have the log if that helps. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times and keep getting the same fatal error message.

This is a user-to-user forum. We have no technical support materials. We're just users.
This is a problem limited to your machine, so we have no way to help with that.
It could be that your download is corrupted (you're not installing as you download, are you?). Other than that we'd be in the dark.
Your best bet is to search online for the exact error message or error number.

It was at this point that the bartender realized he would not be getting a tip.

  • P35 Neo - XP Pro install fatal error

    Hello
I have partially duplicated my post since the problem is different from the original thread.
    But first....
    MOBO - P35 Neo - MS-7360
    CPU - Intel Core 2 Duo E6750
    BIOS - V1.5
    MEM - 4 x 1Gb 800Mhz DDR2
HDD - 1 x 250 Gb Maxtor SATA II (I have 2 but only connecting 1 for install.)
    VGA - NVidia 8600 GT
    PSU - WinPower ATX 600L - 600W max
    Optical - Emprex 8x CD/DVDRW
The motherboard package and RAM was bought from Novatech and was tested before I installed it.  Full specs can be seen here
    http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?MBB-P35675,
and I got them to double up on the RAM.
    HDD was also from them.
    The problem arises after the first phase of the XP PRO install.  I have been using a new copy of XP PRO with SP2 to do the install and initailly things go as expected.  I format and partition the drive to create a 50Gb drive for the XP install, which happens without incident, then the machine reboots.  Following reboot, the Windows XP branded part of the installation begins, with the 'Collecting information', 'Dynamic Update' and the 'Preparing installation'  boxes already checked.  Below these, it says that 'Setup will complete in approximately :39 minutes'.  About 30 secs into this process, a message box comes up with the following;
    Fatal Error
An error has been encountered that prevents setup from continuing.
One of the components that Windows needs to continue setup could not be installed.
    Incorrect function.
    Clicking on the OK box takes you to the logfile, which reads;
    Error:
Installation Failed: D:\I386\asms. Error Message : Incorrect function.
    Fatal Error:
One of the components that Windows needs to continue setup could not be installed.
    Incorrect function.
Pressing OK after this reboots the machine and we go round again.
Things that I have tried to fix this:
    1. Removed RAM, tried it with 2 and 1 DIMMs
    2. Changed the optical drive.
    3. Burned another copy of XP with SP2 at slower speed to ensure it wasn't the CD.
    4. Used another HDD with same specs.
    5. Scoured these forums and the net to find an answer, but nothing clear cut has arisen.  Or have I missed it?
There have been a few threads which mention putting extra drivers into the XP PRO SP2 .iso, but since I am using 1 drive on SATA1 as well as an XP PRO with SP2 disk, this does not appear to be required.  I have used the standard settings in the BIOS.  Can anyone shine some light on what I am doing wrong?
    Thanks for reading!

Sounds like it may be a optical drive or a bad ISO.  Seems like people are having issues using Nero and recommend using PowerISO.  edit:  I noticed you you are using an OEM CD so more than likely either a scratched CD, a bad drive or cable.

  • Photosmart Essentials will not install Fatal Error

Windows Vista Home Premium.  -- I recently move my Photosmart D7560 printer to a different computer.  I need to install Photosmart Essentials to allow me to print to a printable CD.  I downloaded the latest drivers for the full featured installation of the D7560, but the Photosmart Essentials will not install.  The printer works and prints fine, but the printing software gives a Fatal Error during installation. The message is Problem with windows Installer Packatge.  A program required for the install couldn not run.  Contact HP!  I tried the download 2 times from HP and 1 time from CNET.  Same error each time.  I do not have the original disk that came with the printer.  Is that the problem?  How can I get Essentials installed?  Thanks.

  • LV8.0 install Fatal Error message

I made the time to install my LV8.0 upgrade, and during the initial portion of the install, the message - Fatal Error!! Required MSI directory property PersonalFolder is in an invalid location "D:\docs\" - is displayed and the install halts. Drive D is the CD drive. Any ideas what may be wrong? What is the error message referring to? There is no opportunity to make any location selections prior to, or after the error message. I am currently running LV7.1 trouble free.
    Thanks for any insight.

    Hi, Quickbeam.
At first glance, it sounds like your CD may have become damaged or there is a problem with the CD drive. Some CD drives are more tolerant than others -- are you able to get past this step if you try it in another drive? It's also worth trying to copy the whole CD to the hard drive and then installing from there.
    Let me know what happens!

  • HP Photosmart c6280 fatal error 1606 during installation - Windows Vista 64 bit

Hi!  I have a HP Photosmart c6280 printer that we have had for a few years.  We moved it and configured it for USB use instead of wired via ethernet through the network.  It worked great, but now my wife's project is done.  Now we have moved it back and wired it through the ehternet cable into the router.
It will print, but the HP solution center doesn't recognize it and it will not scan or do any othe functions.  I have done a complete UNINSTALL and reinstall multiple times.
After installation I checked the event viewer and every install fatal error is a "1606" and it states the following:
Product: PS_AIO_02_ProductContext -- Error 1606. Could not access network location %APPDATA%\.
I am ata complete loss as to how to resolve this......someone please help!

  • LabView Run-time engine 6.1 fatal error on install in XP Pro

I downloaded an application which uses the LVRTE to decode audio signals and display them graphically. I then downloaded the latest (?) version of the RTE installer for Windows .../XP from the NI site and it shows a version number of 1.1.0.0 if I move the pointer over the file. When I try to install the RTE using this file, I get a small message box with the title "Fatal Error" and the text "Installation ended prematurely because of an error" and no other clues. I've disabled the antivirus s/w (Norton) and the firewall (Zonealarm). I've even searched through the registry to see if there are any entries with either "LabView" or "National Instruments" in them and found nothing.
    I'm running a properly li
cenced (yes, I paid real money for it) version of XP Pro with all the latest patches installed.
Any clues as to how to get the thing to install would be gratefully received.
    Thanks in anticipation

  • Install JDev 11g(11.1.2.4.0) on mac 10.8.2 fails with fatal error

    Hi,
I am getting an error as " Fatal error encountered during file installation. the installer will now cleanup and exit ! " while installing the JDEV on my mac 10.8.2.
I have tried with both java versions 1.6 and 1.7. and I have both the versions of java in mac but in the java preferences page shows only 1.7.
I have tried with shay's blog too.
I have installed other JDEVs 11g versions in my mac but they are success with shay's blog. I have recently updated OS ( with minor version changes) after this update iam unable to install the JDev and unable to view the both the java versions in pref's page
    Please help me out.
    Thanks
    Shyam

Unfortunately upgrading to 10.8.2 messes up your previously configured steps and you can no longer rely on Java Preferences to define your JDK setup.
What I suggest is doing this:
    1) Delete your current JDev installation + the system directory
    2) Ensure that the symbolic link as described in step 3 of the following link is still present and points to actual file
    3) Follow the steps in this blog: https://blogs.oracle.com/blueberry/entry/how_to_saddle_your_mountain ... to reinstall JDev.
This should get you back up and running.

  • Fatal Error while installing

I recently purchased a second itouch for my daughter and when I plugged it in to my computer it required that I download 9.2. I already had an existing version of itunes on my PC. While installing it stated "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor". Then it continues to download Quicktime. The itunes icon appears on my desktop but when I click it I receive the "Fatal Error while Installing message". I have uninstalled/reinstalled, created a new user account on my PC, updated my Windows service pack. Nothing seems to solve this problem, now I can't even sync the other ipods I have. Any idea how to fix this so I can get itunes back to working?

I followed the instructions in the exact order as they appeared. I get the following error:
"There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor."
When I click "OK" it continues to install Quicktime and that completes properly. Then it tells me itunes has been successfully installed. The itunes icon appears on my desktop, but when I click it, it goes through what appears to be a windows configuration setup, but then gives me the same message I was getting before: "Problem with shortcut: Fatal error during installation". Someone had suggested on another post to use Firefox instead of IE to download itunes, but that hasn't worked for me either.
This is so frustrating, we have three itouch ipods in this house and we cant sync or add music to any of them since this occurred. I really appreciate your assistance.

  • Laser Jet 1536dnf fatal error message while installing driver

    HP Laserjet 1536dnf
    Windows 8.1 64-bit
Got the printer a month ago and originally had no problems installing the full package software using the cd that was provided. The printer part worked great.  I had to uninstall the software because the scanner on  the 1536dnf was not being recognized by any programs on my laptop.
Now, I'm having problems re-installing the full package software on my windows 8.1 64 bit using the product's cd that came in the box.  After the installer recognizes the printer is connected through wired network connection (not using USB cable) it attempts to install the software and gives me an error " Fatal error occurred preventing product use." No error code.  It forces me to hit the cancel button and uninstalls all the files.
I have tried the following: uninstalling the 1536dnf software from the laptop, restarted my computer, updated my Adobe flash to the current version (not sure why but one of the forums on here mentioned it). I have also tried to install the online  full package with the same error result.
I used the same CD with another laptop that had win 7 and it installed the software without any problems, so I don't think there is anything wrong with the CD.
    Can anyone help me?
    Regards,
    Julian

    Hi @foolishdrone3 ,
I understand that you are getting a fatal error installing the printer over the wired network on Windows 8.1.
I would like to help you out with this issue today.
I would use the latest drivers for the installation, that you downloaded from HP.
I have provided a document with some steps to try to see if that will resolve the issue.
A 'Fatal Error' (MSI error) Displays on the Computer During HP Software Installation in Windows.
Find the error code in Windows 8:
Right-click the lower left corner of the screen, and then click Event Viewer. The Event Viewer opens.
In the Event Viewer pane (on the left), click the arrow next to Windows Logs.
Under Windows Logs, click Application. The Event Viewer results display in the middle pane.
In the Source column, find the most recent Error entry from HP, and then click the error entry. The error details display in the General tab.
In the General tab, look for a numbered code. This is the specific error message that you need for troubleshooting. Note the error code, and then continue to the next step.
    What was the error code?
If you are still having issues, install the printer as a USB connection, then when connecting the USB cable follow this document immediately. A Fatal Error Displays During Software Installation. Then I will provide the steps for flipping the port to the Ethernet connection. Just so we can get the software installed.
Test the printer as a USB connection.
Then go into Devices and Printers, right click the printer and left click Printer Properties, select the Ports tab.
Click Add Port, select Standard TCP/IP Port, then select New Port and follow the wizard.
Type in the proper IP address for the printer. You will need to print the Configuration page to get the printer's IPv4 address. Printing a Configuration Report.
Make sure the printer is online.
    Test the printer.
Please provide in detail the results if you are still having issues.
    Have a great day!
    Thank You.
Please click “Accept as Solution ” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.
Click the “Kudos Thumbs Up" on the right to say “Thanks” for helping!

  • Update Operation Fatal Error when installing Technical Preview Build 10041 Upgrade

I posted this in the Microsoft Community forums and was redirected here.
Below is the original post (URL: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/forum/insider_wintp-insider_install/update-operation-fatal-error-when-installing/6eaff1b9-0223-4357-afc8-884382590e82 )
    Hello,
In trying to perform an upgrade install of the Windows 10 Technical Preview Build 10041 (as is the latest available for direct download as of my writing), I am running into a problem I cannot find mention of anywhere else on the web.
I fall into two categories with regards to this build: A) Product tester who actually needs to test application performance under Windows 10 on bare metal, B) Semi-crazy techie who loves using (usable) beta software as his primary environment ;)
so it is rather important to me that I get this working on my machine in some non-virtualized respect. I am reluctant to do a full/fresh install if installation problems are happening, because my Windows 8 product key has been f***ed up from the
start (likely some random database corruption) and I've had to utilize phone support to get around an "unknown error" the last two times I've had to use it. So, for fear of that key completely crapping out on me, I don't want to move to Win10 unless
I'm confident it will install and I can stick with it (for better or worse) through the end. Problems within the Preview after I install it I can deal with.
So, I first tried to install the Preview through the standard Windows Update method. The installer took about 7 hours (but from reading lots of internet discussions, stupidly long install times in that range seem to be a common problem with
this builds separate from it actually failing). During the reboot between the "Setting up Devices" (Or is it Setting up Drivers? I forget) and "Taking Care of a Few More Things" (Again, possibly paraphrased), for about a split second, underneath
the Windows logo and throbber, some error like this appeared:
Fatal Error Performing Update Operation # of ##: ERROR CODE
It only appeared for a fraction of a second, and I had no chance of reading the precise numbers or error.
However, the installer then seemed to continue, and went until the main circle was at 100%. As soon as 100% hit, however, the screen went black for something like 30min. Then, I briefly saw "Attempting to recover installation" before "Restoring
your previous version of Windows." And I was, quite impressively considering how far along that installer was, back in Windows 8.1 completely unharmed.
I tried again by burning an ISO and doing a disc upgrade install. I let that one run overnight and was asleep for the error, but I was back in Win8.1 in the morning, so I can only assume a similar thing happened there.
As for my system specs, I'm running on a MacBook Pro 9,1 under Boot Camp. I am upgrading from Windows 8.1.2 Pro with Media Center. I have found other online accounts of people quite successfully installing Windows 10 on Macs, so that isn't the issue.
Does anyone have any clue as to what this error might have been/be, and how I might fix it? Or at least have it on good authority that a fresh installation would be unaffected (meaning it's software-related)? If not, I can try installing to a VHD,
which would at least let me product test on bare metal, but wouldn't have the harddrive space to be my daily driver and would probably only get used occasionally.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!
So far, I have the yet-to-be-tried idea of a clean boot prior to installation.
If anyone here has any more specific ideas, lemme hear 'em.
    Thanks!

To the individual who proposed this as an answer to my problem: It's not even applicable. I specifically stated that I was trying to avoid doing a clean installation (at least without knowing more about the problem at hand). An answer saying to do the thing
you're trying to avoid doing is not an answer. You can see my last reply for the current status of this issue. 6-8 hour blocks of time in which I can't use my computer (as is required to install build 10041) aren't super common for me, but I haven't abandoned
this thread. There have simply been no more updates. If your motivation as a mod was that you simply don't like there being unanswered threads on this forum, then perhaps you could attempt to contribute rather than arbitrarily marking the first reply as an
    answer.
I will continue to update this thread as I try new things and get more information.
    Thank you.
