Install FCP on multiple Macs?

Can I install FCP (from App Store) on the Macs of other colleagues in the office?
I just bought FCP, as directed by my employer and I need to allow others, in the studio, to work on projects using this software. Can we work using FCP at the same time? I know it's possible for CS and all other applications previously installed from disk.

If the employer directed you to purchase the App, presumably the employer paid for it? If so, as long as the same Apple ID is used in the AppStore, FCP X can be installed on (I understand) up to five macs. The only doubt in my mind is because some people claim it's up to eight macs).

  • How do I install lion to multiple macs with a single download from the Mac App Store?

Upgrading to OS X 10.7 FAQ
Backup your user files and folders manually (drag and drop) from all partitions/OS's installed to a external powered drive and disconnect this drive, before proceeding in addition to TimeMachine, Bootable Clones etc.
You need to make sure you're running the latest version of Snow Leopard10.6.8
Click the "Apple" symbol in the top left corner of your screen and select "About This Mac."
Make sure you're running version 10.6.8.
If not, click "Software Update" from the same Apple menu and update your system.
Then when that's finished launch the MacAppStore from the same menu.
You'll see the giant Lion banner across the top. Click on it.
This brings you to the app page for Lion. It costs $29.99 -- click the price, then click "Buy App."
    Free Lion? check here
    http://www.apple.com/macosx/uptodate/
You'll be prompted to sign in with your iTunes ID. After that, yourdownload / upgrade begins.

    Didn't get Lion?
These are user to user support forums and Apple doesn't respond here,
We users can't speak for Apple about your free Lion status or problems downloading, reissuing a download.
It's possible Apple could be spacing out the downloads as not to knock theservers offline. So be patient.
If after a week or so when the initial rush is over, and you still haven't gotten your Lion, I suggest you contact Apple.
    Mission critical
If your using Mac's in a mission critical type environment or have third party hardware or software you must rely upon working correctly. It's advised to wait until all the bugs, driver updates, third party software and other issues are resolved before upgrading. This might take several months. Then if you do so, do one machine at a time andcarefully test everything before full deployment.

  • Cannot install FCP X on Mac Pro (2,1).  Graphics card issue.

I have a Mac Pro 2,1 (2 x 3 Ghz Quad Xeon, 16 GB RAM, and ATI Radeon X1900 XT (512 MB)) AND I cannot install FCP X.  It says graphics card not supported. What do I need to run FCP X?  If I need a better GPU, what card is recommended for this machine?  It's hard to believe I can run the software on my Macbook Air but not my Mac Pro supercomputer...

Radeon HD 5770 (as inserted into the current MacPros) will do it. Make sure it's the unit bought from Apple, not a big box store.
Plenty of discussions about it, here's one:

Your "super computer" is more of a super computer than mine, but it did start life in 2007. Things have moved on... your MacPro isn't obsolete, by any means... in fact your original graphics card is probably just about to give up anyway! Mine did last year (I had an older card in a MP 1.1) and am glad I changed it.

Your Lightroom License Key/ or Subscription to Creative Cloud can be installed on two computers Mac and or PC with to provision that only one is in use at any point in time.
If you have the License Key you just download and install then use the key to activate. The Subscription model has to be downloaded via the Adobe Creative Cloud Application Manager.

  • Installing FCP 4 to Mac OS X 10.3.5

I have FCP 4 (which I had installed previously to Mac OS X 10.1.5). When I upgraded to OS X 10.3.5, I first erased and restarted my hard drive. I then re-installed all of my software. FCP 4 is the only one giving me problems. When it gets to the point in the installation process of choosing a hard drive to install to, the red exclamation point appears over all hard drives, and then the installation process automatically discontinues. Is anyone aware of this problem in regard to FCP 4 and OS X 10.3.5?

    Bernard,
I downloaded the 10.3.9 update from the apple site and...the installation of this update has the same problem the FCP 4 was having. Although, this time it is giving me an actual error message of , "This volume does not meet the system requirements for this update." (The FCP 4 install was giving me no error message. It would just kick out of the installation at this point). I don't get it because, as far as I can tell, I meet the system requirements for both.

  • Installing Lion on multiple macs

I purchased and installed Lion from the app store on my powerbook.  Is there a way to install on my IMAc with out purchasing again?  I heard you can do three...is that true?

Yes, just copy the Lion installer app to the other Macs and run it from there.
Unfortunately, the Lion installer self destructs after running it the first time. So if you didn't make a backup copy of it before installing, you'll have to download it again. As long as you log in to the Mac App Store with the same account you used the preivious time, you shouldn't be charged again.

  • Install Logic on multiple Macs?

Now I've bought a MacBook Pro, so I can also work on location. My Logic Studio is updated from 7 (with the dongle). Do I need to buy a another Logic (I don't hope so), or can I install the same upgrade on my Mac Book as on my main Mac Pro?

The licence agreement allows you to install L8 on both your computers but it prohibits to use them at the same time. If the two mashines are linked via a network the copy booted last will automatically shut down. If they're not connected you can run them both at the same time but by doing so you will violate the licence agreement.

  • Install Xcode on multiple Macs

I'm trying to use Remote Desktop to install Xcode on 10 iMacs in our lab, and I'm not sure how to do that. I can't just copy in the packages because they need to be installed in order.
Is this even possible to do with ARD?

I don't believe I have needed to show hidden packages. I had downloaded the latest version of xcode. Then I mounted the disk image on my computer. Then started an install package job and dragged in the main metapackage and it installed the whole thing for me. I assume that you must be trying to install just portions of xcode if you need to show hidden packages?

  • Installing Windows On Multiple Macs With Boot Camp?

I have an iMac, White MacBook, MacBook Pro (Late 2006) and very soon I should be getting a Unibody MacBook Pro. My question is, I plan on buying Windows 7 for Boot Camp, and I was wondering if the install limit applies even with Boot Camp. I read that Windows only installs on one computer at a time, and I was curious that if with Boot Camp, it still holds true. Any help would be appreciated.

For now, Windows 7 is free RC download. And there are hints in the EULA that a Family Pack could be in the offering.
I usually buy System Builder, and you can buy Vista SP1 with $9.95 or free upgrade to 7 - retail, Ultimate to Ultimate.

  • IPhoto '11 on multiple Macs

Hi, downloaded iPhoto '11 from the new Mac App Store but would also like to install it on our other three macs at home. I called the 5th Ave store in NY and they said it is only a single licence so I have to buy it again. Other places like Macworld say one copy can be used on all the home macs. I suspect Macworld is right. If so, my question is,... Is there an easy way to install or update these apps without having to download them again? Like currently I download updates once and then update all our macs. Fast. Cheap. ANy ideas now with the latest stuff from the App Store?

This is what Macworld say... it is pretty detailed but I don't know if it's 100% accurate:
    _*Licenses and copy protection*_
*Can I buy an app on one Mac for use on all my computers?*
Yes, you can install apps bought from the Mac App Store on any and every Mac that you personally own and use.
*What about the five-Mac restriction that I have with videos I bought from iTunes? Does that work for Apps too?*
No. Apps don't check to see if you've using an iTunes-authorized Mac. They can ask you to verify your Apple ID and password, but that's a single check and it's just to verify you are who you say you are. Once your identity is verified, that's it. There's no authorizing or deauthorizing or counting of different Macs.
*Does that mean I could buy one copy of an app and install it on every Mac in my business?*
No, the license you agree to when you enter the Mac App Store says that app downloads are for Macs that you personally own, and that's a license for personal use. Apps that are intended for professional use are licensed for you or for a single computer used by several people. While there's no technical impediment to you installing them on multiple Macs at work, you'll be violating the license agreement. It's the same scenario as if you buy a single-user copy of iWork and install it on ten Macs at work—you can do it, but you're violating the license agreement, making the act ethically questionable.
*Are there family pack licensing options in the App Store?*
No, apps are purchased for and owned by a user linked to a single Apple ID. But if you log in with that ID on all the Macs in your household, you can download and install your apps on each one.
*How does the Mac App Store handle volume licenses? How about educational discounts? Are those offered in the App Store, or do I have to go straight to the software vendor for that kind of discount pricing?*
As far as we know, there is no volume licensing for Mac App Store apps. However, according to Ken Case at The Omni Group, educational discounts are available, but only on a volume licensing basis. For that, you’ll have to contact Apple.
*Is there any DRM that would prevent me from using a Mac App Store purchase on another computer?*
Some apps allow you to freely copy to other Macs and they’ll run without a hitch (though this seems to be a technical oversight, and not an intentional design). Other apps will require the purchaser of the app to log into the Mac App Store. When you launch such an app, a login window appears, displaying the purchaser’s account name; you then have to enter that account’s password. If you enter a different account, the app doesn’t work.
*Say I migrate to a new Mac. Will I be able to take my App Store purchases with me?*
As mentioned above, when you move an app to another Mac, you might have to enter in the login information of the purchaser. If you have that info, you’re all set. You can also just re-download all your apps straight from the Mac App Store (as long as they’re still available) by logging in on the new Mac and checking the Purchases tab.

  • Using OS X Install CDs/DVDs On Multiple Macs

Using OS X Install CDs/DVDs On Multiple Macs
The question of using system/software install CDs/DVDs on more than one machine is frequently asked.
    So, FYI:
System software installation CDs/DVDs, that come with a particular Mac model, are hardware specific to that model, and not intended to be used on other Mac models. For instance, the CDs/DVDs that are shipped with an iMac are not to be used on an iBook or eMac.
And the "Tiger" DVDs that are shipped with any new Mac, also are not to be used on other Mac models.
If such an installation were possible, or somehow accomplished successfully, that action would constitute a violation of your license agreement, which limits installation to a single computer.
The "Single User Software License Agreement" can be found here Software License Agreement.
Similarly, any "Upgrade" CDs/DVDs for a particular Mac OS will ONLY work for that Mac & system. For example, if a new Mac that shipped with Jaguar/Panther, was purchased shortly before the release of Panther/Tiger, the user may have purchased "Upgrade" CDs/DVDs, for a lesser price than the full install set. These CDs/DVDs do not contain all of the necessary components for an independent installation of Panther or Tiger.
The license agreement applies to single user retail versions of system software. The "Panther" or "Tiger" boxed set, for example.

Here are the requirements for Lion:
    http://osxdaily.com/2011/06/07/mac-os-x-10-7-lion-system-requirements/
In order to install Lion you have to have Snow Leopard and then update to 10.6.8:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
Personally I suggest that you stop at Snow Leopard.  It still is the most efficient OS that Apple has devised and it still works great.  Go to the Lions only if there are feature that you really need.  There may be a price to pay in slower performance though.
    Ciao.

  • New Mac Pro with Lion and can't install FCP.

I got a new Mac Pro with Lion and can't install FCP that worked fine in SL.  Is it not compatible?  Is it really a PowerPC program???  I'm a videographer and rely on this software and to spend $300 to continue to use it after spending a lot more for this software 4 years ago!  Tell me this is not the case and there is a solution to installing FCP.

How to run FCP 6 (FCS 2) under Lion.
The installer for FCP 6 (FCS 2) is a PPC app. The Programs themselves are Intel. If your trying to install FCP 6 (FCS 2) this work-around will work...
First you need to install Rosetta from your Snow Leopard OS installation disc:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.6/en/27987.html
After doing that you can install FCP 6 (FCS 2). Remember, after installing FCP 6 (FCS 2) you need to apply the updates. This has been discuss many times in the Final Cut Studio forum.
If your trying to install FCP version 5.1 (FCS 1) (a PPC app) and below your out of luck....

  • Install .kfp file onto multiple Mac's

    Hi folks,
I have a preflight profile that needs installing and Group name changed on multiple Mac's. Currently I will do this manually but I'd really like to automate this process .
I've done a bit of digging and found that once a .kfp is imported the file name is obfuscated, the format is changed to .kfg and ends up at this location
    /Users/*username*/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Acrobat/Preflight Acrobat 10/Preferences/Profiles
I'm curious to know if any one else has tackled this problem? Maybe using applescript??
    Many thanks
