Install Flash player via group policy
How can I install flash player and shockwave via group policy
on a windows 2003 domain?
Network Deployment of Adobe Flash Player
I found this link http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashplayer/articles/flash_player_admin_guide.html
It is a good idea to extract the msi the deployment data point using msiexec /a {filename} (this creates an administrative installer)
Use the extracted MSI to deploy flash. (either assigned or published)
Please make sure that the user can read from the data point you place the files.

Install Contribute CS4 via Group Policy?
Hi,
We have just purchased some copies of Contribute CS4 and I need to deploy them via a Group Policy. Normally, I will do this with the MSI that has already been created by the manufacturer and do an administrative install (msiexec /a <productname>.msi) but there is only a WinBootstrapper.msi file for Contribute CS4.
Can anyone share with me how they have installed Contribute CS4 via Group Policy?
Thanks.

Trying to find the URL used when installing Flash player via ActiveX pop-up
I'm trying to determine what URL would be used when a customer clicks on the Activex Pop-up to install Flash player.
I've found a document that indicates the URL used when updating Flash Player via the Auto updater, but I think they are different URLs.... Can anyone help?thanks guys for the replies.
Just to clarify, I am in no way having troubles installing Flash player. I'm a tech specialist, and have been for many years. I am fully able and aware of how to update Flash player.
What I am trying to get is the URL that would be used when a client click on the "Install Adobe Flash Player" ActiveX Pop-up.
thanks for the URLs you sent, and I do have those, I'm just wondering if any can confirm "as for sure as possible" what URL is used with that ActiveX Pop up.
Our corporate has several web-based products that do NOT work with th emost recent version of Flash Player.
We are trying to find all possible Flash Player installer URLS that are used, so we can block them on our Proxy server.
Thanks again for everyone's reply, and if anyone knows for sure the info I need, please let me know -
Difficulties installing flash player via GPO
Hello, I'm attempting to try and deploy flash player via GPO to computers on our domain, and in testing, I am unable to get the MSI's to install after doing a gpupdate and letting the PC restart as it requests.
I've followed the instructions Adobe has listed for deploying to AD via GPO to the letter, I have the shares on a publicly accessible location, the software assigned in the GPO, and the GPO linked to my testing container with the testing PCs. All the PCs are fully patched, just nothing happens after a reboot. I can publish the MSI's just fine to where I can see them available to install via GPO, but I want to assign them instead. Does anyone have some insights into what could be going wrong?I'm still not having any luck with this, does anyone have any advice at all?

Installing Flash Player via GPO
Hi there,
We have the flashplayer 10 msi file and created a group
policy using active directory to role out the update to internal
users. Tested on a user machine and although we can see the
flashplayer plug in installed the Adobe still reports that the
machine needs flashplayer 10. Please could you advise how we need
to configure the policy to install the msi file across our network.
Thanks

New flash player release breaks old installed flash player
Hi there all
I work in a school in the UK and we have a very odd problem with flash player. When a new flash player is released it will stop the older flash player from working.
This happens on IE 7 and 8 (all XP)
For example on one of our PCs it states that "You have version 10,0,42,34 installed" if you go to http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ (latest version being 10.0.45.2 at time of post), but this has stopped any flash content from working.
On youtube it states "Hello, either you have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player. "
On BBC iPlayer it states "You need to install Flash to play [name of video]"
We have given all staff restricted accounts and all students very restricted accounts so they cannot simply install itself.
We currently deploy the flash player via group policy but that doesn't help us when we have people baying for our blood because some teaching resources will not work
Anybody seen anything like this before? Could it be a group policy setting perhaps???
Thanks in advance
BMCCHey to everyone
i found the answer in terms of allowing staff to upgrade themselves.
I have made a GPO with the following registry and file perms settings. I have given permission to members of office and staff sec groups which covers all of our staff. Then apply this gpo either the top level domain or to each OU where you have PCs that you would like staff to be able to upgrade flash for you.

Installing Adobe Flash Player via microsoft Group Policy
I created two MSI files as recommended by Adobe and install the flash player updates through Group Policy. I have it setup so that the MSI files get published in windows 7 program/features. so when people are on the VPN they can install it manually. When they click on the application, they get an error saying you must have administrative priviliedges to install adobe flash player 12.
There is something in the MSI file stopping it from installing as if you publish it in Program/Features via Group Policy it should allow them to install it without administrative rights as they can install Java software with no issues.ny assistan
Any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated.Win2012, like Win 8, has Flash Player embedded into IE by Microsoft. The ActiveX plugin cannot be installed from any download here. There is a Windows Update KB patch and two registry keys that prevent it. Unless you manually remove those, the only way to do anything with Flash Player ActiveX for Win8 or Win2012 is through Windows Update.
Those losers in Redmond (or India) only told you to get it fixed here because they REFUSE to accept responsibility for the gabrage browser they shoved down everyone's throats with IE11.
If you're in a corporate environment and cannot use another browser, then the best you can do is repair IE (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/318378) and run Windows update again.
If you need the "standalone" Flash Player Projector, it's here: Download the Windows Flash Player 13 Projector
If you need the plug-in for other browsers, it's here: Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers)
But there is no updating the ActiveX plug-in from here, in spite of what Microsoft told you. -
Updating Existing Install and adding extensions via Group Policy
We have recently installed StarOffice 8 due a full planned move away from Microsoft Office 2003, we have deployed the CD install via group policy to test the functionality of StarOffice in a school environment. Due to a problem cropping images in Writer (cropooo 0.2.1 extension needed) we are having to update to the latest patch ver10 (300+pc's). Is there a way to automate this via GPO? We only have the standard version of staroffice 8 and not the enterprise CD so we can not make a custom transform file. Also can extensions be deployed via Group Policy? We are runnning a Windows 2k3 server with XP clients.
Network Deployment of Adobe Flash Player
I found this link http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashplayer/articles/flash_player_admin_guide.html
It is a good idea to extract the msi the deployment data point using msiexec /a {filename} (this creates an administrative installer)
Use the extracted MSI to deploy flash. (either assigned or published)
Please make sure that the user can read from the data point you place the files. -
Installing Flash Player 11.8.800.94 via GPO not working properly
Hello,
i've installed Flash Player 11.8.800.94 via GPO.
Installation works fine, but there is no flash player available in Firefox or Internet Explorer.
Deployed both Flash Players.
Tried to reinstall Flash Player 11.8.800.94 for Firefox, but it's still not active.
Windows 7, 64bit
Greetings,
MichaelHello Comvel.
RE:
Hello,
i haven't fixed it yet.
I've deployed the last few version of flash player without any problems.
I haven't found any new things in the admin guide.
The plugins don't show up in both browsers. I can't enable them.
On the most importent clients, i've installed flash player manually.
I know it has been a few months since your post but, I was wonderingif you were able to find a solution for this that didn't involve manual installations. I've recently deployed 11.8.800.175 and am running into the same problems. Some work stations are just fine. But others, (both windows 7 and xp, all IE8) are not working. When navigating to a site like youtube, theres a banner that says update is needed. When you go to manage add-ons there is no shock object/add on. -
Deploying Flash Player via GPO sometimes results in uninstallation
We started deploying the Flash Player MSI via Group Policy several months ago, but something we've found is that on some computers, instead of getting updated, Flash Player gets uninstalled entirely and we have to manually reinstall it. Does anyone know what causes this and how to correct it?
Hello,
We'll need a few log files to investigate this further. Please provide the following log files:
FlashInstall.log file from one or more impacted systems. If the machine is 64-bit, there will be two files.
32-bit OS: C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash
64-bit OS: C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash AND C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash
msiexec install log fileYou'll need to provide the 'log' argument when running msiexec to create the log file.
Since the files will be large, please share them using the How to share a document instructions.
Thank you in advance.

Deploying msi via group policy without administrative rights
We are having a problem with flash player not working without
Administrative right on the machine. We thought we could get around
this by using the flash_player_active_x.msi and installing through
group policy. The install during a computer reboot (if assigning to
a computer) or during a user sign on (if assigned to a user) seems
to work fine.
However, when you actually try to load a webpage with flash,
nothing. The component doesn't actually get installed into the
browser. As soon as you log on with a privilaged account, and
browse to a flash enabled page, the install finishes, the active x
control is loaded and now all users can see it.
However, I'd really prefer not to have to go around to each
computer and log on with the administrator account - kind of
defeats the purpose of group policy.
All computers are Win XP sp2 with IE 7. The active directory
server is a Win2k server.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.I am having this issue also. Has anyone found a solution?
I found this reference on this website, but there is no
solution given:
I
have installed Adobe Flash Player but still don't see any Flash
content. What is wrong?
quote:
Restricted User accounts are unable to display Flash Player
content
After successful installation under the Windows Administrator
account, Restricted User accounts are unable to display Flash
Player content. This issue has been reported on Microsoft Windows
XP Service Pack 2 systems and occurs sporadically. It may also
affect other versions of Windows, such as Windows 2000.
If you installed Flash Player 8.0.24.0 prior to April 6,
2006, then you must remove it using the Flash Player uninstaller
released on May 11, 2006. Remove Flash Player using the
instructions in How to uninstall the Adobe Flash Player (TechNote
14157). -
Change settings to "Always Allow" via Group Policy
We upgraded our Flash Players from v6 to v8 (I know v9 is out
we haven't go there yet) a couple months ago, and we've just
noticed that we can not access some of our local stored Flash
content. Then error we get is "Macromedia Flash Player has stopped
a potentially unsafe operation. The following local application on
your computer your computer or network:
H:\some\network\file.swf: localhost"
I found on Adobe's website how I could add the site/file as a
trusted location via the Settings Manager Global Security Settings
panel. Problem is that I can't seem to figure how to accecss the
Security panel, unless I do it from a computer which has internet
access, which my network does not. Also once I make these changes I
don't know how I can push out this change to all the computers on
my network. I thought I could do it via windows group policy, but I
don't see any documentation from adobe showing what registry
keys/files need to be updated/changed to make these certain
settings via group policy. Can anyone help?I found that if I copy the settings.sol to a users profile,
but I have over 1000+ users on our network......surely there's got
to be an easier way?!?!?!? -
Deploying Creative Cloud for Teams via Group Policy
Good afternoon, we are trying to deploy our Creative Cloud for Teams products. Our ideal situation would be where we are able to deploy the Creative Cloud Software (e.g. including Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, etc) using Group Policy, then assign the respective user licenses using the Management Console. This would send out the email to the applicable user for them to create and Adobe ID, and use the software that has been installed. However, we are able to install the software using Group Policy Deployment using the msi created using the Creative Cloud Packager, but any user is able to use the software on the PC, not just the person who has been assigned the licence via the console email. Is anyone else successfully deploying in this way?
Kind regards
