Install flex on bea Workshop 10.1

Is there a way to install the flex plugin into standard
workshop 10.1? Or do i have to buy the bundle? I already have a
flex license and i don't have teh extra cash for the bundle.
Thanks in Advance.

Yes, you can install Flex Builder 2 into a standalone Workshop 10.
From http://edocs.bea.com/wlw/docs101/relnotes/relnotes.html ..
To install Adobe Flex Builder 2 into Workshop Studio:
* Run the Workshop Studio installer.
* After Workshop installs, click the checkbox to install Flex Builder
* When prompted to provide a path to Eclipse, use the following path to the Workshop Eclipse directory, replacing <BEA HOME> with the path you used to install Workshop Studio:
     <BEA HOME> \tools\eclipse_pkgs\1.0\eclipse_3.2.2\eclipse

I am trying to install BEA Workshop pro trial version on windows 2000. I have teh JDK 1.5 installed.
The install just stops before getting to the BEA splash and the before the user licence agreement. I ran the installer while holding the "control" key (as noted in another thread)

Can anyone help me, I'd really like to try this software out.
    Thanks,
    David.

    David,
Can you try passing in the 1.5 VM location manually as listed below
    WorkshopInstaller.exe LAX_VM d:\bea\9server\jdk150_04\bin\java.exe
Can you also make sure that the 1.5 JVM value entry is the first entry in the PATH environment variable.
    cheers

  • How to uninstall/install again BEA Workshop for JSP

    Hi there,
I've recently changed my Eclipse version and its installation folder.
After this operation, the BEA Workshop plugin was no more visible, so I decided to uninstall and install again the entire plugin. Unfortunately, when the uninstall operation began, the following message occured in a pop-up window :
"The local BEA product registry is corrupted"
Does anybody has a clue about how to solve this problem ?
    (I run a XP Windows including a SP2)
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Fabrice.

    Hi Fabrice,
How did you upgrade the eclipse version? What version of eclipse where you using earlier?
Do you still have the links folder within eclipse home?

  • Can't start Tomcat after installing Bea WorkShop for JSP

    Hi,
I have been using Eclipse SDK Version: 3.1.2 Build id: M20060118-1600 and Web Tools Project 1.0.2 and Tomcat 5.0 and Tomcat 5.5 for about 2 months with no problems. But now I Can't start Tomcat after installing Bea WorkShop for JSP plug-in. I get "Server Tomcat v5.0 @ localhost failed to start". Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I installed BEA Workshop for JSP Version: 3.1.0
Build id: 536. I only wanted to install the plug-in to my existng Eclipse 3.1 / WTP application. The only option that I saw was to download the entire FullWorkshopFreeInstall-536.zip, which is 192,496 KB. During the installation, there is a screen that you can specify to only install the plug-in - and I selected that option. Today, I chose to uninstall the BEA Workshop for JSP and then I was again able to start Tomcat server. I then did a complete install of BEA Workshop for JSP into a totally separate location. My original Eclipse installation still works fine, but my Workshop for JSP Version (which is now a completely new installation) has the same problem with Tomcat that I reported with the plug-in. I am using j2sdk1.4.2_08 and have tried both Tomcat 5.0 and Tomcat 5.5. I have the same problem with both Windows XP Home Edition and Windows XP Professional.
    Thanks for your assistance.

Do you have multiple versions of Java installed? I had a weird problem a
while back with a messed up registry and multiple Java installations.

    Hi,
I am having the identical problem, but with BEA Workshop Studio. I've followed the instructions provided to resolve it, but I still get the same error, What am I doing wrong? Below is my variable:
    PATH=C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0\bin
When I hold down the control button to get the error log it APPEARS to locate the JDK, but at the very end, when it looks for the JRE it is null.

  • Silent install of BEA Workshop Studio 10.1?

    HELP!
How do I script a silent install of BEA Workshop Studio 10.1? The instructions for BEA Workshop Studio 3.3 don't work. I've figured out that I need a silent.xml, but what options should I put in there? Is there any documentation?
Thanks very much for any assistance!
    yours,
    Simon Rakov

    http://edocs/wlw/docs101/guide/ideuserguide/conSilentInstall.html
The above link provides properties specific to Studio installation.
NOTE: If you are a licensed customer (i.e. if you are using properties WLWIDE_ORDER_ID & WLWIDE_SERIAL_NO) then in addition you need the following workaround:
    After Silent installation, edit Studio10.1\workshop_10.1\workshopStudio\eclipse\plugins\com.bea.workshop.product.wstudio_1.0.1 - ins.properties and modify "trial=false" - Save
    - Now, when you launch the Studio the license activation takes place in the background (you need to restart the workshop)

  • Web Service over SSL failing in BEA Workshop

I have deployed a web service on weblogic 9.2
I have enabled one-way ssl on it. got a trial ssl certificate from verisign. installed them on the keystore/truststore on the server as well as the jre (cacerts and jssecacerts truststores) being used by the client. the client is on different machine than the server.
i have developed the service through 'bea weblogic workshop 9.2' now when i try to test the service through the 'web services explorer' within bea weblogic workshop i receive the following error:
IWAB0135E An unexpected error has occurred.
    IOException
sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target
    on server:
<Jul 13, 2009 6:45:44 PM EDT> <Warning> <Security> <BEA-090485> <CERTIFICATE_UNKNOWN alert was received from yunus.l1id.local - 10.10.2.72. The peer has an unspecified issue with the certificate. SSL debug tracing should be enabled on the peer to determine what the issue is.>
if i try to access the web service (over ssl) through the browser (ie/firefox), it works fine. i have generated a proxy class to access this web service through the same bea workshop and that works fine too. certificates are identified and all. i also created a small .net (c#) application that calls this secure web service over ssl from another machine and it works fine too!
of course non-secure url for the web service is working fine in every case.
what can be the reason for this failing only in 'web services explorer' in bea workshop?

    Hello,
I used this example, when I made my experiments with SSL and Glassfish (GF):

If you have problems with GF I suggest to post a message here:

  • Tomcat 5.5.20 + BEA Workshop 3.2.1 build 589 issues

Every now and then I run into a problem trying to start my tomcat 5.5.20 instance from within BEA Workshop 3.2.1. I am using the standalone install of Workshop. Repeatedly deleting and adding the server and throwing some restarts of Workshop inbetween seems to provide the voodoo that I need to finally get tomcat starting again from within Workshop...until of course it happens the very next time I stop and restart the tomcat instance or deploy another application to tomcat.
Here is the log entry in my workspaces .metadata\.log file. I hope someone can provide the magic pill that will permanently cure Workshop (and me) of this recurring nightmare!

This is a known issue that occurs for switching application in an existing Tomcat server configuration. The issue has been fixed for the next release (schedule for first week of Dec 06).
Though not elegant the current workaround is as follows:
    - Instead of changing the project for debugging on an existing Tomcat configuration, delete and recreate a new Tomcat Server configuration with the new project.
    Ex:
In Server view, delete existing Tomcat Server configuration
New > Server, add a new Tomcat server configuration with the new project you plan to debugNOTE: Also, before starting the server make sure to refresh the project in AppXplorer/Package Explorer view so that the resources are insync with the file system.

I had installed "beehive" as a plugin earlier
    C:\eclipse\plugins\org.eclipse.pollinate.beehive_1.0.0.I20041109

I had beehive working earlier with tomcat. I moved tomcat directory so it is not working anymore.

    but
while installing studio i gave jdk1.5 as the java-home.
I'll to re-install eclipse and the studio plugin. and try again.

Is something setup wrong in my environment or is there an error in the product?
After some searching I found the missing weblogic.wsee.wsdl.WsdlException.class in both
    BEA_INSTALL_DIR\wlserver_10.0\server\lib\weblogic.jar and BEA_INSTALL_DIR\wlserver_10.0\server\lib\wseeclient.jar.
Since this is a server side project I decided to try including the first one to the build path of my project ServicesWeb.
Just to be safe I restarted BEA Workshop and tried to switch between the Design View and Source View.
A new error appeared and after following the same process as above yet another.
Some of the them were missing e.g. com.bea.util.jam.JElement and com.bea.xml.XmlException.
I found some of them in jar files in BEA_INSTALL_DIR\modules, but also in jar files in the zip file
BEA_INSTALL_DIR\wlserver_10.0\server\lib\wseeclient.zip. So I decide to unzip that file and add
all the files to a user library in BEA Workshop and then add that user library to the build path of the project,
    and removed BEA_INSTALL_DIR\wlserver_10.0\server\lib\weblogic.jar.
Now I didn't get more errors. I was able to complete the source and create and start a server.
But then when I attempt to run the service on the server I again get "An unexpected error has occurred." and the stack trace:

This is again a class from BEA_INSTALL_DIR\wlserver_10.0\server\lib\weblogic.jar, so I added it back to the build path of the project.
After another restart of BEA Workshop I successfully started the server.
    But publishing fails with:
    Publishing failed
    Error with publish task 'WebServicesProjectBuildTask'.
Web services in ServicesWeb have errors.
java.lang.RuntimeException: com.bea.xml.XmlRuntimeException: java.util.zip.ZipException: The system cannot find the path specified
Error(s) occurred during publish assembly. No modules will be published.
This one I haven't been able to find a solution for.
    Could anybody please help?!
    Thanks.

    Ram,
Thanks for your reply. I was creating a WAR file using the Export>J2EE>WAR option.
I've since found out you shouldn't do this for Tomcat from Bea Workshop.
So now I am running the application in exploded mode as you suggested
(ie. 'Run modules directly from the workspace' is checked)
    When I run pages/register.jsp - two things happen :
1-the browser that opens WITHIN Bea Workshop has an exception :
    javax.servlet.ServletException: No faces context?!
(I believe this is because web.xml has *.jsf as the url pattern that maps to the faces servlet, so register.jsp doesn't invoke the faces servlet. But the tutorial hasn't said anything about amending the web.xml servlet mapping.)
2-a separate browser opens OUTSIDE of BEA workshop and the url is "http://localhost:8080/"
    I don't understand what's happening here.
The tutorial should be very reliable, not throw up errors.
If you or anyone else can throw any light on this I'd be grateful.
    Thanks Steve

    Nutan,
This looks like an issue because, the error states that you get a 407 when
    accessing

Can you accessing the above mentioned url in your browser and let me know if

  • Installing Flex SDK into Flash Builder 4.7 problems

    Hi,
Im completely new to Flash Builder, today I have installed Flash Builder 4.7 & Flash CS6 from Creative Cloud for my son to start to learn game programming (with my help), I have used simple coding in web design however this terminology is new to me.
I bought my son the latest 'Foundation Game Design with ActionScript 3.0' book on recommendation but it was written when FB was version 4.5 so im guessing this might be the problem.
The book is very easy to follow but have hit problems at the beginning of the tutorials, the book talks about Flex SDK but it seems that FB 4.7 uses AIR SDK ?
So the first project called HelloWorld, we got up to:
Got an exclamation mark which said
'The import flash.display.Sprite is not used
    locally'
Continuing with the rest of the project the exclamation mark disappeared:
However on selecting run- Debug we got a blank Flash Player window  ('generate HTML wrapper file' was deselected)
So either we've done something wrong, or the book and FB version are not compatible?
    Any advice would be great!
    Thank you
    Latest ...
I thought that installing Flex SDK may solve the problem but after following instructions I have the error message, see image below. Really stumped now!

Sorry, if I went a little overboard. After re-reading your post, perhaps I should back up a little.
First, there are little things that Flash Builder (FB) will complain about. Having extra import statements in your code doesn't hurt anything. If I'm trying different solutions and then commenting out the code, the import statements will hang around, FB will complain, but just ignore it. If you see a little icon on the left edge of your code editor and its a red circle with an X in it, then that is something that will have to be fixed.
When you create an app in FB or Flash you can choose to create a web app which means it will run in a browser window. The project can optionally create an HTML wrapper, or web page that will load your app. In Flash Pro you can choose File->Publish Settings and there will be a checkbox on the left to publish a HTML wrapper. In FB, you can right click your project in the Package Explorer, select Properties at the bottom, select the ActionScript Compiler, and down at the bottom there will be a checkbox to create a HTML wrapper.
If you're just learning Flash Builder, then the FlexSDK 4.6 and the AIR SDK 3.1 that comes with it should be fine. You mentioned Apache SDK and I'd recently been working with that so I ended up getting side-tracked.
Getting an AIRSDK to work with when build ActionScript projects is easy. Just go to the adobe site, type AIR SDK in the search box, and you should find a page that will let you downloaded the latest version. There's also a page to let you download the latest AIR runtime, and if you were just going to run AIR apps and not build them, then that's all you would need. As a developer you'll want to install the runtime from the downloaded .exe file. With the SDK, after downloading it, installing it is easy. Just create a new folder an unzip the SDK into it, then place it somewhere easy to find. I put all my SDK's in their own directory right off the c: drive. So I have c:\AIRSDK_3.5.0.880 and c:\AIRSDK_3.7.0.1530. I use very descriptive folder names so I always know which SDK's I have to work from.
To use the SDK in Flash Pro select Help -> Manage AIR SDK, hit the plus button and add the folder you created. Now when you've opened a Flash project, you go to File->Publish Settings and select the combo box at the top, you'll see options like 'AIR 3.7.0.1530 for Android' in the list that reflect the SDK's you've added.
Generally with FB you'll be using a FlexSDK, or perhaps a FlexSDK overlaid with a newer version of AIRSDK. Overlaid basically means you copied the contents of the AIR SDK into the Flex Folder. The article I mentioned above will give you all the details on creating those. For instance, I downloaded the Apache Flex installer, installed it, then created an empty folder called c:\ApacheFlexSDK_4.9.1, launched the Apache installer, gave it the new empty folder I'd created, selected all the download options, and let it all download. If it launches a popup box or a security warning, you can allow it, and it will continue. Once you have the SDK and you want to use it with a project in FB, just right click the project, select Properties, selected that Compiler tab again, and up in the right corner you'll see 'Manage SDK's...'. Hit that link, add your new SDK to the list and give it a descriptive name, then selected the checkbox beside it to set it up as your default. If you do this, then all your projects set to use the default will automatically switch to it and rebuild. So if you want a project to stay with a specific SDK then select that option in your Compiler tab, and then you could use the combo box to select your new added SDK.
When I started with FB I think I spent the first 2 days going round and round with project settings and options until I got them all figured out.
When I develop, I usually have my browser open and I have bookmarks and favorites to let me quickly get to all the pages I use most often. Here are a few of them:
http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashPlatform/reference/actionscript/3/index.html  <---- The API reference. In the packages window check out 'Top Level' at the top and Language Elements near the bottom. I think I have this page open in one or more tabs almost every day.

And you've already found the forums! But if you don't find an answer here, many times you can find your question already answered on www.stackoverflow.com forums.
Ok, I think I went a little overboard again.

  • How to install Flex SDK in IBM RAD?

    Hi All,
I'm new to Flex and facing some trouble in installing flex 4.6 sdk in my existing IBM RAD application.
There are few flex files that are included in the new release and I need to work on those files (test/debug) to make sure that existing application is not affected with these files.
I have installed Flash Player and latest Flash Builder 4.0 and 4.6 plugin on my system for this purpose.
The Flex SDK, however, I'm not able to configure on my RAD.
Because of this, I'm not able to see the Flex Prespectives in my RAD and mxml & as files are giving error in text editor.
    Please guide -
    1. How to configure the latest Flex 4.6 SDK in RAD.
    2. Apart from what I have done already, do I need to do anything else to debug/test the newly added flex files in my RAD.
    Thanks in Advance.

    Hi,
Thanks for your great reply i greatly appreciate you efforts.
Arie the thing is that i saw the post you mentioned above and it's kind of tangled, isn't there anyway or any sourceful website for step by step guide because i already mentioned that i am a brand new c/c++ programmer and i have no experience how to do programming in c/c++ as i am android and java developer using eclipse tool so visual studio is somewhat a new world for me.
Please if you have any step by step guidence link or website in your mind,do let me know i anxiously look forward for a step by step guide, but let's say if you don't have anything i want it's perfectly fine i ll try to dig more and work and look in VS 2010 because may be i am new and that's why i can't find the SDK integration.
Once again Arie thanks for your helpful and fast reply i greatly appreciate your co-operation.
    Thanks,
    Brian

  • Installing Flex 4 SDK on Eclipse IDE

    Hi,
I want to use Eclipse IDE with Flex 4 SDK but am unable to do so. I have looked at various blog posts & threads dealing with the same, most of them are obsolete(in the sense posted way back in 2005/07 with very old Eclipse releases) or I am not getting the desired results.
The links I have referred to are below-

I have tried the trial of Adobe Flex Builder & it was really a painless job to get going. But right now I cannot afford a license of the same so I am looking at open source alternatives.
Can anyone help the newbies like me by giving a brief walkthrough regarding installing Flex SDK on Eclipse, it would be of great help.
    Thanks in advance,
    Raghav

I was disappointed with the kind of response from a forum like this to an amateur like me.
I found a way around, decided not to use Eclipse at all with Flex SDK. Instead I am using Flash Develop which is a free IDE specific for Flash & Flex and integrating Flex SDK is pretty easy in that. Provided a very good feature set for a free software. Anyone stuck with this problem I suggest to go ahead with FlashDevelop instead of trying to figure out Eclipse. It is available for download here
