Install for win7 on lion off of a downloaded iso version of win7
Do i need the disc to do this or is there another way to do it
VM = Virtual Machine, Fusion, Paralells and Virtual Box are examples. They allow you to install Windows on Mac in a Windows environment created by the Virtual Machine,
Advantages are simpler installation and the ability to run OSX & Windows at the same time.
Disadvantage is lower performance, if you want Windows for gaming this is not the way to go.

However, if your computer originally shipped with Lion or Mountain Lion, a clone is not necessary to merely reinstall OS X. OS X Internet Recovery will create a recovery partition, download the installer package, and install it on a completely empty SSD or HD.

If you use Photoshop at all, you may need to install the latest update to resolve this issue. See this blog post for more information:

If you do not have Photoshop, then try the solution that others have mentioned previously:
Open the Adobe Application Manager (AAM).
If applicable, let AAM complete any automatic updates and restart itself.
Sign in with your Adobe ID. (Optionally, you can close AAM at this point.)
Open a CS6 application (e.g. InDesign CC).
If prompted (e.g. you get the trial screen), click "License This Software" and sign in with your Adobe ID.

My Mac says updates were installed for Keynote, Pages & Numbers, however, the version number shows to be the old version... If check for updates, it's telling me no updates are available...
The old versions are not removed when the new versions are installed. (The updates add features that improve cross-platform editing of files but remove many other features so the install leaves the old version in case the old features are important to you). If you look in your applications folder you should find both versions.

We purchase a lic for a user. I've assigned the lic the user's name but we don't want to have to teach each user how to install and use the cloud just so we can install the software we purchased. Can I get a way to just get the s/n for my customer without them having to download and install the cloud app?
There is no such thing. Creative Cloud requires the app to be in place to provide the licensing. read the Enterprise Deployment guides for details on pre-configured installs.

Now on Mountain Lion; how do I download new versions of Numbers, Pages, and Keynote?
Just installed Mountain Lion.
In checking out the iCloud features, it works fine for Preview and TextEdit.
But Numbers and Pages do not seem to be integrated with iCloud. Then I noticed that my version of these is out of date. There are new updates which I need to download to take advantage of the new iCloud integration. But I cannot seem to download them. When I run Software Update, nothing needs updating.
So how do I download these updates?iWork '09 installed from the retail disk or from the downloaded trial must be updated through Software Update. In Mountain Lion Software Update has been "rolled into" the Mac App Store. Choose Software Update from the Apple menu just like you always have & the Mac App Store will launch. Depending on what you have that needs updating you may see two sections in the MAS window.
But, as always, if you're not running the latest versions of the iWork apps installed from a retail box or the downloaded trial & Software Update says your software is up to date, make sure the applications are where the installer initially put them. The updaters are very picky. If the location is not where the updater is programmed to look or if the folder doesn't have the name the updater looks for, it will not work. The applications cannot be renamed or moved. If you installed from the downloaded trial or the retail box, they must be in the iWork '09 folder in Applications. That iWork folder must be named iWork '09. If it doesn't have the '09 Software Update won't find them & the updaters won't work.

I just worked on a Pages document on my iPad. I wanted to finish it on my iMac (OSX 10.7.5). I emailed the iPad Pages document to get it on my iMac. I then tryed to open the Pages document on my iMac. The message said I needed a newer version of Pages for the iMac. I then went to the Apple store to upgrade Pages for the iMac. When I tried to download the new version, I received a message that Pages couldn't be installed unless I upgraded to OSX 10.9? What the He.. is going on?
be very careful about getting the iWork "updates." This forum is FULL of complaints about it.
Mavericks seems good, though.
If you try Pages 5 and dislike it, Pages 4.3 will still be located in an iWork Folder within your Applications Folder. -
I have used my Apple Classic Ipod for music and photo storeage/playback. When prompted to download a new versionof Itunes (11.1.0) I did so but cannot now locate any facility for removing/adding photos. Is this a deliberate action on the part of the programmers or a mistake. What can i do to recover the siutation?

Dell 2130cn leftover from PC life--hot to install for Mac OSX 10.6.5?
I have this Dell color laser printer. Since I switched to Mac last year I have been unable to install for Mac. Read the threads about downloading Ghostscript and Foomatic etc., but still can't INSTALL the stupid printer, much less get it to print anything.
Is there a DUMMY'S GUIDE to INSTALLING and SETTING UP this stupid printer? Else I'll just put it out on the street and hope somebody takes it away.

The sequence of installing the packages makes no difference. You do not have to reboot after the installation of the printing software.
I cannot say why you were getting the error message. I would have to see the CUPS error_log. If you are indeed running 10.6.x (you are posting in the forum for 10.5.x) then the foomatic error should have caused about 50 lines of debugging information to be logged. You can see the error_log by using a browser and going to http://127.0.0.1:631/admin/log/error_log?
Please note that the error message you are getting does not mean that the drivers will not work with your printer. Usually the type of message you are getting is during processing of the print file and before it is sent to the printer. -
I have been trying to install Win7 on a new bootcamp under Lion. I had WinXP w/Snow Leopard, lost it...I need a Windows partition, Bootcamp formats the drive in FAT but Win7 requires NTSF. I read the FAQs & it said to restart the process & let Windows installer format the disk, well, how do I do that? I have gone over this 3x & I always end up with a Bootcamp formatted in FAT.
Since the format was wrong for Win7, I tried to install XP, but no go...oh yes, how do I find the version of Bootcamp I have?

The hard part is installing Windows 7 64-bit.and that you did.
Some keys don't work the same like eject. Just have to deal with some minor differences.
All you need is to install in Windows. 3.0 and update to 3.3
An "F" for not just post the drivers for each Mac to download while in Windows manually.
So, you need the drivers on a drve and folder that you can write to while in Windows to change Properties - Compatibility Mode and you should be off and running.
XP 64-bit was much much harder.
And yes, wait on Lion six months maybe. Install Lion on another drive and clone it back can work and not upset the partitions and Windows you had.
Format to NTFS from FAT is spelled out, and really the PDF should be printed out, if to only avoid questions and repeating the same tip 100s of times. -
my imac is running mountain lion and last night i downloaded maverick. in midst of installing it, it said a powerPC app microsoft word would not work so i canceled the install for the time being. my questions is if i choose to finish installing maverick does that mean i will nevver be able to access word documents stored on my desktop? or do the word docs automatically convert to pages or what? i am so confused. would i be better off just sticking with mountain lion and send the maverick install to the trash? hoping someone will be able to answer my question though i am afraid the response is likely to be just stick with mountain lion so you can keep using word. i had been looking forward to maverick but it seems pretty drastic to not have access to microsoft word anymore by switching to maverick. hope someone has an answer so i can have the best of both worlds so to speak!
thanks for your response Csound1 on the peninsula ... if i go ahead and install maverick and then download LibreOffice or OpenOffice will i then be able to access old microsoft word saved documents on my deskstop through those two free alternatives? i am not that knowledgeable about these things so i am not sure if you are saying i will just be able to use libreoffice or openoffice for creating new documents or whether i can access the saved microsoft docs? are they transferred to OO or LO or what and if editing of the old word docs is needed can i do that through the OO and LO programs or apps (see i am not even sure if i am using the correct vocabulary!) hope you can answer this as quick as the first question, so i can decide to stick with mountain lion and trash the maverick install or proceed with maverick install and hoppe that my microsoft word docs are still accessible through OO or LO or adding to myquestion will pages on maverick be able to open the old word documents? thanks again!

Need to Install Safari 6.0.2 on a white Intel core duo iMac. Had to throw out 6.0.3 because of conflict with required software. Downloaded wrong version that was for Mountain lion (I am running 10.7.5). It installs but won't open, says it is for Mountian Lion.
Of course I can't throw it away since I get a message it's part of the sytem. I can't scan to my computer with my HP Photosmart Plus B2010a, I get a "Failed to open a session on the device" message everytime. I'm using the most current driver for OS X Lion 10.7 off the HP website.
I get the same "Failed to open a session on the device" message with Apple Image Capture as I do with the HP Utility software.
