Install Imovie after deleting it. Reinstall

Hey there,
a few weeks ago I deletet Imovie in order to gain some disk space.  Now I need it again, but don't want to pay for it all over again in the app store. How should I proceed?
Thx for your help
Mathew

You should be able to download it again at no charge.  Your Apple ID that will indicate that you already have the right to the software.  It can happen that the App Store will say that it is already installed - if you get into such difficulties this article may help:
http://macs.about.com/od/usingyourmac/qt/How-To-Re-Download-Apps-From-The-Mac-Ap p-Store.htm
(I wouldn't recommend deleting apps to save disk space.  Better move stuff (especially iMovie libraries) off your startup drive onto an external drive.)

The Mac App Store keeps installing iMovie after i've deleted it. I assume it is due to auto updates, but am not positive. Has anyone else expierenced this?
I know it was a clean install where I deleted all the support files as well.
(Running 10.9 on an intel i7 iMac.)

OS X Mavericks: Reinstall OS X Heres the link if anyone else had the same problem!! This is if you deleted not only the Mac App Store, but iTunes, Calendar, whatever came with the Mac (Apps that came already installed on the Mac), if you deleted one of those then you have to reinstall the Mac OS, Note: This one is for Mac OS X (Maverick) my version is 10.9.4, go to that link and follow the instructions if you have Mac OS X (Maverick). Other help: Common Mistake: If you delete the app from the dock then just go to finder and applications folder and drag the app back onto the dock(it was just deleted from the dock NOT your system/computer). Hope that helps others who had the same problem.

  • How to re-download imovie after deleting it?

I downloaded the free imovie app when I bought my new 5S along with garageband and iphoto etc. I ended up deleting a bunch of the free apps not thinking that I would use them. Now when i go onto purchased apps in the app store and try and install imovie back onto the phone from icloud, a message appears
" you've already purchased this app so it will be downloaded at no additional cost"
But it never actually starts installing, the icloud icon remains there and nothing happens. This is only a problem with imovie, i was able to reinstall iphoto and other free apps no problem.

    Hi dminch,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
Let's try the download a different way.   First, sign out of your iTunes Store account on the iPhone, restart the device, and sign back in.

    help

I realize that the boot is failing at the init stage[1].
Observing this behavior, I realize that it's something to do with systemd. Emergency mode is a feature of Systemd.[2]
Systemd was trying to start some processes, but they failed to start because some timed out and some lacked their dependencies. I guess the "A start job is running for..." is an indication that the process is stalling during init and Systemd is trying to jump start it, or something like that.
And I am coming to realize that the error messages are saying something is wrong with /home, ethernet, and wireless.
This thread[3], as well as the one linked in it, has given me a clue. Systemd fails when fstab can't detect a partition it expects.
My research tells me it is common to drop into emergency mode after an issue with fstab.[2] After editing, I should "run systemctl daemon-reload to let systemd refresh its view of it."
Which of course leads me to the Arch fstab wiki entry, as well as the manual.
This is the output of cat /etc/fstab
    # <file system> <dir> <type> <options><dump><pass>
    /dev/sda2 LABEL=Arch
    UUID=xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx / ext3 rw,relatime,data=ordered 0 1
    # /dev/sda4 LABEL=homefolder
    UUID=xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx /home ext4 rw,relatime,data=ordered 0 2
    # /dev/sda1
    UUID=xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx none swap defaults 0 0
And /home is still on /dev/sda4 in my /etc/fstab. So perhaps I'll remove /home from fstab and call it good.
Edited with nano and removed the second line. Then systemctl daemon-reload. Reboot.
    Getty started!
    Marking this as solved.

  • Won't boot from install discs after deleting some system files

I've been looking through the forum and haven't found an answer to my problem - maybe someone can help me out.
I have an aluminum Powerbook G4, 1.67, 1.5 RAM, 10.4.11. I was experiencing the problem with FCE capturing video for about 5 minutes and then freezing, and I read some threads here about how this can be fixed by returning to Quicktime 7.2 and installing it with Pacifist. I did this, but first tried to delete my previous Quicktime version files, and obviously I deleted some system files in the process. That's how my new problem started.
Programs now that do not open - Preview, iTunes, iMovie, FCE, Yahoo, Mail, and Microsoft Messenger. I no longer have my date/time/battery level/airport/bluetooth indicators in my toolbar. The Spotlight icon flashes, but will not open. Also, when opening the System Preferences pane, it opens just for a second or two and then crashes and closes. Safari, airport, and Word all work, though, and I still can access internet.
I tried to re-install OS 10.4 from my black install disc. The computer reads the disc, but after I click the installer icon and then "restart," the computer fails to completely reboot. The disc spins in the drive, I get the Apple, the indicator, and then the screen goes to blue and the disc soon stops spinning. Nothing happens after that. I've tried rebooting by holding down the C key but the same happens. When I hold down the option key, I get to the point where I can choose to boot from the install disc, and then the same thing happens - the blue screen and nothing more. Booting with the shift key held down doesn't work either.
I did just have a repair by Apple - my adaptor plug sparked when inserting it into the outlet, and I had to have the logic board replaced. But the computer seemed to be working fine when I got it back, except for the FCE issue first mentioned. Looks like my good intentions have done me in.
The install disc is about three years old, and is in good condition. It's been in the garage, so could heat or cold affect the readability of the disc?
Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can boot from my install disc and get a fresh install of my OS?

    Hi bboross,
Tough without a Tiger Disk, but try fsck...
To use fsck, you must run it from the command line. Unlike using your mouse to open an application to do something, you'll need to type a text command at the prompt (#) to tell fsck what to do. The Terminal application (/Applications/Utilities) and single-user mode are two examples of command-line interfaces in which you can type such commands. To use fsck:
    1. Start up your computer in single-user mode to reach the command line. Hold CMD+s keys down at bootup.
Note: If necessary, perform a forced restart as described in the Emergency Troubleshooting Handbook that came with your computer. On desktop computers, you can do this by pressing the reset/interrupt button (if there is one) or holding down the power button for several seconds. On portable computers, simultaneously press the Command-Control-power keys. If your portable computer doesn't restart with this method, you may need to reset the Power Manager.
    2. At the command-line prompt, type /sbin/fsck -fy
(space between fsck and -fy important)
    3. Press Return. fsck will go through five "phases" and then return information about your disk's use and fragmentation. Once it finishes, it'll display this message if no issue is found:
** The volume (nameofvolume) appears to be OK
If fsck found issues and has altered, repaired, or fixed anything, it will display this message:
*** FILE SYSTEM WAS MODIFIED ***

Important: If this message appears, repeat the fsck command you typed in step 2 until fsck tells you that your volume appears to be OK (first-pass repairs may uncover additional issues, so this is a normal thing to do).
    4. When fsck reports that your volume is OK, type reboot at the prompt and then press Return.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then Safe Boot , (holding Shift key down at bootup), & use Disk Utility from there to Repair Permissions, reboot once more.

  • How to install Yosemite after deleting the entire partition?

I am trying to install a clean version of Yosemite via Mac OSX utilities. I erased my entire operating system and now want to do a clean install. I have entered the internet recovery mode by pressing command R once the operating system was deleted and restarting the machine.
I currently have four options which are restore from Time Machine backup, reinstall Mac OS X, get help online, Disk Utility.
as of now the option reinstall Mac OS X is telling me that it will set up and install a new copy of Lion. How do I have it install the Yosemite?
when I first purchased in 2012 it did come with the Lion operating system but I have downloaded and installed Yosemite from the App Store.

Oh, but it is since you have already erase the volume. What more do you wish to do? If you want to do an online Internet Recovery and your computer is able to do so, then do this:
Install OS X Using Internet Recovery
Boot to the Internet Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION- R keys until a globe appears on the screen. Wait patiently - 15-20 minutes - until the Recovery main menu appears.
Partition and Format the hard drive:
Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
After DU loads select your newly installed hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Install button. Be sure to select the correct drive to use if you have more than one.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
This should restore the version of OS X originally pre-installed on the computer.

  • Ichat 2.1 won't open after deleting, then reinstalling

Like many before me, I too deleted ichat from my ibook, but only after burning it to disk for possible future use. Now wanting to use an isight webcam on my g3 600mhz laptop, I've tried relentlessly to reinstall with zero success thus far. I've copied ichat 2.1 back onto the ibook, repaired permissions, reinstalled via apple's download site, restarted the computer, and still - nothing!
Would it be necessary for me to go to the Jag disks and install 2.0 instead (providing I can figure out how to do that)? Or is it something else that I'm missing? What happens is that I double click on the icon, there's a flash as if it's going to open, then nothing...
Thanks for any help someone can offer.
    Chris

It depends how and what you deleted.
iChat 2(.0) came on the Install disk.
iChat 2.1 is a download normally through Software update.
However there are also factors and updates associated with the OS updates.
So Reinstalling iChat 2.0 from the Install Disk then requires that
    1) you allow it to be updated to iChat 2.1 and also re-run the Combo update to maker it match the OS level properly
    FAQ on Reinstalling iChat 2
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=121859
This requires that you use Pacifist to extract it from the Install Disk.
It is less important in iChat 2.x to run the Combo update to match the OS compared to iChat 3 or 4

  • Can't install iTunes after deleting prior corrupted version of iTunes

Hi there, I'm hopeful someone can help me out with this vexing problem. I noticed after recently installing the newest version of Quicktime several weeks back that my iTunes would crash whenever I tried to open the iTunes Music Store. Growing weary of that issue and not being able to resolve it on my own after fully using Onyx, I decided to delete iTunes 6.0.4 and simply install it again. After I deleted the corrupted iTunes, I checked to make sure my music was still in its library (it was, but the icons had all changed to Quicktime icons) and then installed iTunes from downloading it from the Apple website.
I was able to download iTunes 6.0.4 from the website. I installed it and that seemed to go well and I then restarted the machine and then went into the Applications folder expecting to see the new iTunes icon there, but it was not! I did a Spotlight search for the new iTunes and it could not be found anywhere on the machine! I did not know how to explain/understand its failure to exist since I had gone through the complete installation procedure and then restarted the iMac, but, I thought I will just try it again and see what would happen. This time, I installed it from the iLife '06 DVD and again, the whole installation program ran fine and I then restarted the machine and opened up the App. folder expecting to see it, but, once again iTunes was missing. Spotlight still cannot locate the program. I know that I have correctly installed the darn thing at least twice but I can't seem to locate the program! Moreover, when I click on some of my music icons, the song will play through Quicktime, not iTunes...I just don't know what to make of this, can someone knowledgeable about iTunes please guide me through this mysterious re-installation process? Thank you very much for reading and hopefully lending a virtual had! Cheers, Mike in California

Although it looked like iTunes was installed, I doubt it was.
Your Spotlight search does confirm that.
Open ./Library/Receipts and trash the 'iTunesX.pkg' and the 'iTunesX 6.0.4.pkg' files.
    Try installing iTunes again.
If you only install iTunes, there's no need to restart or even to log out and in.
After the installer is ready, take a look in your Applications folder.
I'm confident you will find the iTunes.app there.
    Hope this helps.

  • I can't install ilife after a lion reinstall ??

i recently purchased a macbook pro with retina display around a week ago and i just did a clean reinstall of os x lion yesterday and my ilife apps (imovie, iphoto and garageband) disappeared. so logically i went to the mac app store to redownload them, but instead of the "install" button it now says "accept" and when i click accept it prompts me to type my password and the its says:
These apps have already been accepted.
these apps were already assigned to your Apple ID
and are available in your purchases list.
but the aren't in my purchases ! and many people have soveled this problem by going to the "store" tab then "view account..." and then unhide their apps, but i don't have that "unhide" option ?
how can i solve this problem ?

Well there has been some real screw ups at Apple lately. As yesterday was the release of the new OS X version Mountain Lion and that all the newer MBPs and Airs came with a special version of Lion that for a while was not available to do a reinstall. People had wiped there hard drive to find out that the version they were downloading to reinstall didn't work on their shiny new Mac computers.
Your only options are to call apple and see if they can straigthen it out so you can DL those apps from the App store or to return that system for a full refund, you have 14 days from purchase date to return it No Questions Asked, and then buy or order another one.

  • HT203322 Still having issues with installing Yosemite after deleting "Backups.backupdb" on the internal hard drive.  I have restarted multiple times and cannot find any other back up files, yet I still receive the same error message during installation.

I am using a 2011 iMac on 10.6.8. I recently downloaded the Yosemite upgrade and during the installation process ran into the "this disk is used for time machine backups". I ejected the external drive I use for time machine backups and turned off time machine in the application. I then followed the instructions of the help article (OS X: Cannot install on a volume used by Time Machine for backups - Apple Support) by moving the folder "Backups.backupdb" that I was able to find on my internal hard drive to the trash. I have restarted several times after completing this process. I am still running into the same error during the installation process. I have searched the hard drive for any other backups and I cannot find any. I searched the hard drive using the command cmd-shift-g and searched for “backups.backupdb” and was unable to find any folders or files. Any other suggestions?

I have resolved the problem - I did not actually delete the "backups.backupdb" folder, I only deleted the contents of the folder.  I must have only searched on the user account for the folder after I thought I had deleted it.  Thank you for the assistance everyone and I apologize for the inconvenience!

  • ITunes 11.1.4.62 will not install correctly after deleting the previous version

After being insessantly nagged to install the latest version of iTunes (11.1.4.62) I atempted to do so.  I refuses to install correctly citing a problem with the remote device installer (?).  Can I install the previous version?  How do I get it?

    Hello svt48,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with installing the latest iTunes update.  I recommend following the steps below:
    Resolution
Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
    Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
    Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
    Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
    Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.
I understand that you have already uninstalled iTunes, but when you get to this step, it is important to uninstall iTunes and the related components in the order listed in the link for that step.
You can find the full article here:

  • Installing FCP after deleting the icon in the App folder.

I was having trouble with FCP and I thought that a re-install would fix everything. So, I went to the Applications folder and deleted everything that came with studio 2. When I try to install everything, it won't let me select FCP on the list. I know that I didn't un-install it the right way, but how do I completely remove everything so I can re-install everything? Please help.

    Thanks. I'll try that.
The problem I was having was: I've been editing footage from the Sony EX1, and everything has been running fairly smoothly. The only thing that we were having trouble with was the down conversion of the HD footage, so that it looked good on the DVD. Well, we figured out that if you edit everything in the native HD format and then create a new SD sequence and drag the HD sequence into the new SD one, render and export it, using compressor, it will look great.
So we've been doing this for a while and one of our systems started having some problems. When we open the SD sequence, after dragging the HD sequence into it, the canvas wouldn't show any of the footage. It would also scale the footage way beyond the frame size. We've tried resizing the footage and rendering everthing, and it still didnt work. We've opened older projects, same thing. I thought that it may be the sequence settings, no luck. So, we just thought that FCP may have gotten corrupted somehow and needed to be re-installed.
Hopefully this program will do the trick. Thanks again for your help.

  • Cant install Lightroom after deleted it

I had to delete Lightroom and several other apps. the other day to get lots of diskspace very fast. I try to install Lightroom again but the installer stops saying "there is nothing to install" (translated from the Norwegian translation) There is no de-installer option on the cd-installer.
What do I do to install Lightroom again ?
In panic I have deleted all adobe software and the adobe folder in application support to see if that helps, but stille the same "There is nothing to install" from the installer. Maybe I will get the same problem when i I re-install the designer collection :/
    -- Erland

I had this problem on a desktop machine (a dual-processor G4/500MHz Power Mac, running Tiger 10.4.10). A Mac Book Pro 17" with Intel Core 2 Duo (2.33GHz) running Leopard 10.5 is running everything without a hitch, so far...
I had Lightroom 1.0 running perfectly on the desktop. Installed the 1.1 update and I began getting the "unacceptable" serial number message [big red X]. Spoke to tech support at Adobe and they suggested removing Lightroom, and re-installing from the distribution disk. I removed the app, and all prefs files, but not the receipt... Tech support did not mention removing the receipt, or any other Lightroom files (prefs or app support files...).
The install process kept telling me "there's nothing to install" when I tried repeatedly to install in the Applications Folder on the system startup disk.
I finally installed the application successfully, and updated to 1.2 successfully, by using the distribution disk and installing to a different internal drive within the same computer. I made an alias of the app, which is the only thing on this drive, and put the alias in the Applications folder of the startup disk.
It's an enormous mystery. I'd rather all my apps were in the main Applications folder, so I may try this again, but getting rid of all the receipt file(s) that I can find. Getting rid of the receipt file seems to be a key part (but not the only one, alas) to getting this peculiar problem resolved.
Lightroom has been no trouble in any other regard since the first beta release. I suspect that having had the beta on this Power Mac, which somehow left some remnant of code that the install routine finds and decides there's already a copy of the software on the target disk, is the essential problem, compounded by installing the first gold release (1.0) over the un-installed beta (that is, I un-installed it, according to Adobe instructions).
These applications are so large, and so spread out over parts of the hard drive, in terms of viable and needed components, it's amazing there aren't MORE problems of this sort, rather than fewer.
Also, finally, there seems to be some serial number bug that Adobe is aware of, but is not telling us very much about. There's a long entry in their knowledgebase about it on the company site, and a number of options to pursue with customer support, if you have serial number problems. I'm not a programmer, so I can't imagine what the problem is.
I do know that in 17 years (and more) of using Adobe products, these aren't the first problems, and they won't be the last.

  • Today, I agreed to an automatic upgrade and now Firefox starts to open but stops. It says 3.6.11 and I have the same problem after deleting and reinstalling.

It bounces in Dock and stops, it never opens. Opening from .app opens in Dock and immediately disappears.

I downgraded to 3.6.10 and had the same problem. Downgrading to 3.6.9 resolved problem. Will retry upgrading later.
Maybe unrelated but 3.6.9 recommended I upgraded Adobe Flash Player from 10.1 r53 to 10.1 r85, which I did
