Installed Internet Explorer 11 and now flashplayer wont work or be recognized by IE 11
I
I received a Microsoft update foir my pc with the new Internet Explorer 11 on the update. I downloaded it and installed it and now when I try to annotate my financial charts on Stockcharts.com I cant, I get a message that this requires flashplayer and to download flashplayer. Prior to installing IE 11 i had IE 10 and Windows 7 and had adobe flashplayer installed on my computor. I had no problems with annotating financial charts on Stockcharts.com. Now whe I try to annotate a chart I get a message that this requires flashplayer and I should download flashplayer.
I uninstalled flashplayer from my computor and downloaded the lastest version 11.9 etc and the problem persists. cansto annotate any charts and get a message to dlownload flashplayer. I dont think IE 11 is recognizing flashplayer now. I also have google chrome installed on my pc and with that I can annotate the stochcharts financial charts.
I would appreciate some help in resolving this problem.
Sincerely,
JHuber8383In IE 10 and IE 11 and perhaps even earlier, Microsoft installed ACTIVE X FILTERING in the browser. I believe that Active X filters out certain TYPES of content. The video clips offered by certain sites like ABC.com are blocked as potentially harmful. YouTube will work fine as will many other sites. When IE blocks their content, sites like ABC.com misinterpret the blockage as you not having Flash Player installed. ABC.com then notifies you that you must have Flash Player installed to play the video and offers you a way to install it. You can turn off ACTIVE X FILTERING on the tools menu of IE but that will make you vulnerable to the malicious content ACTIVE X FILTERING was designed to prevent. Fortunately there is another solution.
In the ADDRESS box in the top left corner of your browser ( where http://forums.adobe.com or the address of your current web site appears ) there is a clockwise circular arrow that will REFRESH your current web page. Immediately to the left of the REFRESH arrow is a small circle with a diagonal line thru it ( the universal symbol for negation as in the traffic sign for NO LEFT TURN ). If you left click that small circle, a box will drop down. In the box will be a button that offers you the ability to TURN OFF ACTIVE X FILTERING. Click on the button and you will turn off the filtering for this one visit and on only this web site. Once you TURN OFF ACTIVE X FILTERING, the video content will play just fine. -
Internet Explorer 8 and Menu Builder Links
We just installed Internet Explorer 8 and the links from Menu
Builder are no longer working. They will work in IE 7, and Firefox.
Any ideas? Is anyone else having this problem?Hi there
Before attempting to answer this I'd like to know exactly how
you published the MenuBuilder output. Did you use the Flash output,
the HTML or the EXE?
Cheers... Rick -

this is a new install (new hard drive) of the same setup i allready had on the same computer. i have the previous drive and can run the previous setup if i want
in both systems i use xorg server 1.4 and xf86-video-intel 2.3
in the previous system i had trouble making effects to work with the newer xorg but they work perfect (right away !) with xorg 1.4
in the new system xorg 1.5 and 1.6 (and intel and intel-legacy drivers) have very bad performance with effects off and make the computer really crawl if i switch them on (and they work only with xrender and not gl). xorg 1.4 has ok performance but i cant get to the effects settings at all
in the previous system its kde 4.2.0
in the current its 4.2.2
mainboard is gigabyte ga-8ig1000mk with intel 865 graphics
well what made kde and xorg 1.4 break this time ? it worked perfectly in the previous system
i want answers on how to make xorg 1.4 work and not only how to fix xorg 1.6 or 1.5I just had exactly this problem too, on a pretty fresh install (two weeks max, hardly any unsupported packages, no fancy stuff). For me creating a new user and logging in with that worked.
Resolved by desperately deleting random config files from homedir of affected user . -
When I try to download applications such as Internet Explorer, Yugma, and iTunes in Firefox, I just get a window that says "save" or "cancel", but never one that says "run" so I don't think it's actually installing anything. It shows up in a "download" window, then the icon shows up on my desktop. When I click on it to launch it, it says "open with" and I get the same "save/cancel" window. It's a continuous circle. What am I doing wrong??

Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 5.1; Trident/4.0; .NET CLR 1.1.4322)What application are you choosing to open the files with?
Because of how integrated it is with windows IE should work. If it's not working, something more widespread could be wrong with your computer that would also prevent other browsers from working properly. Of course we'd love you to stick with Firefox, but you should get help with IE, too. -
I installed iTunes on my Windows 7 PC and now Internet Explorer crashes and won't run.
I installed iTunes on my Dell PC running Windows 7 and now Internet Explorer crashes and won't run. Are there any known conflicts, or likely issues that may be causing this?
I've rebooted, and the iTunes program seems to operate fine. I used it to upgrade my iPad's OS to 8.1.3.They aren't related and shouldn't affect each other.

My os x mavericks got crashed accidentely while installing the windows 8 and I am trying to reinstall using recovery console, but its take very long time and forcing me to download OS X mountain lion from internet, is there any where can I get offline download of OS file where I can install directely OS X Mavericks.
Hi, original poster here. I did not realize this would generate more discussion so I never checked back. I still had my warranty, so I took it to the store and got it repaired. The original problem I had was a screen with this icon flashing when I attempted to boot it up:
When I took it to the store, they told me that my computer was unable to communicate with the hard drive. I had this same problem three times in two months where this screen reappeared. Each time I went back to the store and they said the cause was different, but they were all hardware issues that physically made it impossible to communicate with the hard drive. After the third time, they simply replaced my laptop and I haven't had the same problem.
So in short: The reason you can't reinstall or move anything when you encounter this screen appears to be because nothing can communicate with the hard drive in the first place. You can't reach the disk or anything on it. So I don't believe it's possible to do anything besides take it to a physical store and have it fixed. -
I have installed both Audition 3 and Photoshop CS3 on a laptop with no Internet connection. How may they be activated? The methods documented in the software don't work.
Ned, thanks for responding. Internet access is not the problem, I will have a tower computer connected to Comcast.
Isolating the laptop from the internet is the issue.

ever since I installed Lion my internet connection comes and goes....have reported this to Apple Care who have helped me reset my connection but it is still happening...cant believe it is a fault of the ISP as my Iphone does not have this problem, nor does my PC laptop...is this a fault in the new system?
Thanks so much but none of that helped. It was driving me crazy because it would back up another external drive. I just changed the name of the drive from iPhoto/iTunes Library to Media Libraries and IT WORKED!! I guess for some reason it didn't like the drive being called iPhoto or iTunes ???? I don't understand but I have tried so many solutions and exchanging things out but the name change did it????!!!
Thank you for your help and replying to this. Guess I made my own issue! -
Is X-windows and GUI desktops supported on the ODA "engineered system" running a RAC database? If it is, what is the yum command needed to install the X-windows, Gnome, and KDE package groups?
While I agree with the direction of the suggestions with installing packages for X-windows, we do not have a blanket 'apply any package' recommendation.
In particular we do not support altering the kernel (although we do have exceptions which we review on a case by case basis).
Basically, if the you want to alter functionality that would not impact core functionality you are usually fine.
A good guideling is : The more dependencies that there are between the package / rpm you are considering using the higher the potential impact on functionality - meaning higher chance for problems
Note: We do use VNC including Real and Tiger regularly , but we have no hard recommendation on how you may want to use X-windows. I have never seen a limitation other than comments on bugs
or incompatibility within the X-window product itself with certain kernel levels.
Patching may overwrite some packages that you may install, however, _depending on packages/rpms added_ there is also the possibility that you will break existing functionality to the point
that patching itself will fail ( we have already seen a few cases of this in which case the proper mitigation is to remove / roll-back any alterations to the ODA before patching, and then adding the packages/rpms
back after the patching is completed.
From what you are discussing the impact should be low without conflicts, but please consider the above, and if you have specific packages which you consider potential problems
please create an SR so that we can review packages / rpms on an individual basis.
Once again: the main criteria for not supporting rpms is regarding the kernel itself

I have installed Adobe digital additions and have tried to authorize but keep getting error message "Connection error" . The internet connection is working and I do have an Adobe ID can you help please.
I have been using Adobe reader for PC to download my eBooks but the eBook Vendor has switch to Digital Addition, this is from sjpt,
Try completely removing any authorization using ctrl-shift-D to ADE (cmd-shift-D if on Mac).
Restart ADE, and then reauthorize with your Adobe ID. -
Adobe Standard XI full version costs 299$ and subscription to same version is only 13$/month = 156$. Do I get the same product? Is it in both cases installed on my computer and ready to use even if I'm not logged on internet?
They are the same product.
The "full" is a traditional perpetual license. Install - register - activate - use.
Does not "call home" to validated that is a paid for install (the one time activation takes care of that).
Internet? Connectivity is needed in order to download and install updates.
(& Yes, you do want those)
The "subscription" license will require periodic internet connectivity. If I recall correctly all "subscription" applications must call home once a month.
That is how the application "knows" it is being paid for and is legit.
While within the call home periodicity connectivity is not required for usage of the application.
As with a "full" license you'll need connectivity to download/install application updates

I had beeen using Puffin browser for running flash player on my iPad2. Now the Puffin browser is not getting connected and I get a message saying that " A Firewall is installed between your device and internet". Can somebody suggest how to resolve this???
Hi Sailor,
It is pretty amazing you got a new version without even knowing it.
In System Preferences > App Store you can turn off the automatic updates by unchecking "Install app updates" as I've done here:
If you're using Numbers across platforms and displaying dynamic output on the iPad or doing data entry there, you'll be *much* happier with Numbers 3.0 than the old version. If you're doing a lot of traditional printing of heavily formatted documents, the old version is much better. For most day-to-day uses in between it's a toss-up. The new version, despite its flaws, is a powerful application that can enhance productivity in ways the old version can't.
For more on the differences between the two, see the features gained, features lost, and workarounds threads, plus Apple's support document on features to be reintroduced in the coming months .

Gnome AND KDE won't start (i686 and 64bit)
http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=71991
I've had a rough time these past few days and I posted earlier on Arch64 forums thinking it was just architecture thing but as it turns out after my reinstallation of Arch to 64 bit again (First i686, then 64, then i686 and now 64 again) I finally got it to work but this time Gnome is a pain in the ass, it didn't work with KDE either but KDE never gave me an error or gave me an option to failsafe into the OS.

Errors from xkbcomp are not fatal to the X server
Just a point here is that I've had the exact same software installed the same day that I reinstalled and this error did not occur but after formatting my partition with ext4 and testing Arch64 it did. But it did with 32bit as well, there were tons of errors.
I've read about this ConsoleKit error in a few posts here but nothing seems to indicate a fix or anything and since I'm using Gnome now I didn't find anything on it just about KDE.
I can safely use "Failsafe Gnome" without startup scripts but I want it to work without any problems and I don't know if the "dri" thing is related to the ConsoleKit thing with GDM.
I installed it via FTP and had the latest updates as soon as I've installed, so if this is just something that is happening to me right now or alot of other people, please give us hints or anything that could solve this?
If you read my Arch64 thread you know that stuff stopped working for me, first the network (it turns out I had to boot Windows inbetween installing Arch for my network even to start and that sounds ridicilous if it depends on another operating system starting the device because in Windows the network card was turned on with a green light wherein Arch after installing it didn't. I reformated my partitions and changed it again, installed Windows again and tried it out and then installed Arch. It worked, and then I mixed around with KDE and after five minutes of using "startx" (the only thing working) I decided to reinstall with Gnome, but then the network didn't start again (tried booting about ten times) and then I just thought "Let's start windows first so it turns on" and when I just booted Windows and immiedatiely restarted it and booted with the Arch CD, network was available again. Strange? Or is this a period of instability for Arch?
But when I got my network to start, appearantly Keyboard and mouse wasn't working because Xorg forgot to install the drivers when I installed the full group of Xorg so I had to fix that and now it's giving me this error.Without a dbus socket, dbus probably isn't running. It's supposed to be started automatically when a program needs it. Check to see that it is installed and running:
pacman -Q dbus
pgrep -l dbus
Dbus won't run without hal, so hal should be in:
tail /etc/rc.conf
Are any of your partitions full?
df -h
For the other error, it looks like libdrm isn't installed, but I don't think you need it if you're running the nvidia driver.
Your xorg.conf and Xorg.0.log would also be useful. Also check dmesg for errors.
And see if /etc/rc.d/dbus is marked executable.
