Install .ipa-files

Hi,
I'm pretty new on iPad2, so I have a question about installing applications.
How do you do this? I have this .ipa-file from my company. It's a beta application, and it's not available in AppStore..yet.
I have iOS5 and iTunes 10.5.0 (Windows). I've googled/tubed this but can't figure out how to install this .ipa-file.
I've tried:
Drag and drop the file over the left side panel in iTunes. The app is then in the list, but there are no sync button to get the app to my Pad? In youtube I can see that they press a sync button to get the app installed on the Pad, but this seems gone? Have Apple removed this feature? all apps needs to go through Appstore? Only solution to get this app will be to jailbreak it (as I dont want to do that..)?
I've also tried to install the .ipa-file through Dropbox/mail attachment...which doesn't work. iPad cannot open .ipa-files...
Could anyone please help?
Thanks,
Arne

Who do I have to give an apple to get the answer on this one?

  • Cant install .ipa file

Hi, I have a legal .ipa file that's very important for my job.
I paid for it and sent my iphone codes.
I open it in Itunes but I dont know how to put it in the Iphone. It gives an error message during sync.
    Thx for the help
    Nico

Ok lets try to be more precise:
Im a taxi driver and the app is specific to get taxi runs from my radio-taxi service.
They asked me for the UDID code. I sent it.
They mailed me the app. A .ipa file about 9,9 Mb. I tried to unzip it and I'v seen the Payload folder with the app inside.
I doubleclicked the .ipa file and ITunes opened up. The icon for the app is now between the Iphone apps but the icon is the generic one and the genre too is generic.
Now I dont know how to put the app in the Iphone4 so I set the apps sync to manual and I'v to choose all the app that must be now copied to or deleted from the Iphone. I do this and include the Etaxi driver app.
I apply the changes and sync. The sync goes well for all the apps but when it comes to the Etaxi app theres a generic error message like "was not possible to intall the Etaxi app"
Maybe its not the way to install an .ipa file? Or something else?
    Thx again

  • Cannot install ipa-File because of wrong signature

    Hello,
I would like to build an ipa-File with Viewer Builder for an iPad-Distribution.
I have configured the Folio in the Viewer Builder and downloaded the ipa-File with the correct Developer-Certificate/Provisioning profile and -Signature.
If I install the file on an iPad, that is included in the Certificate,I get the following error on the Xcode-Console:

I have created a new Provisioning profile and updated the Viewer Builder on version 2.0.1.
Do you have an idea how it will work?
    Thanks in advance.

What I forgot to mention: an update of Mac OS X (10.7.4) before it worked two weeks ago with the same signature and provisioning profiles already.

  • Cannot install ipa to iPad2

    Hi there.
I just met a problem to install IPA to iPad2.
I'm using Flash cs6 to build it for iOS. Because this job is converting flash files written in AS2 into AS3.
I published swf and ipa file successufully, but failed to install it.
I also tested to install to few iPads, I got an error message "fail to install".
this app is a kind of learning english for kids application, so it contains a lot of mp3 files.
I set the path of includeded files of "AIR for iOS settings panel". and add the folder including mp3 files.
mp3 files are aproximately 2,000 ea.
when I reduce number of files in about 1/4 , installing IPA files works successfully.
sometimes I met apps over 1GB, I don't know whether it built in Xcode or AIR but it's working well.
so I wonder how many files could be embeded a IPA files.
if you have an idea, please let me know.
    thanks

Make sure that you are signed into the same account on the iPad that you purchased the apps from in iTunes on your computer. Also make sure that the apps will work on your iOS version.
Try this and see if it works for you.
Connect the iPad to your computer, launch iTunes. If the iPad auto syncs, let the process complete. Then click on your iPad name in the left side bar of the iTunes window - under the Devices heading. Then click on the Apps Tab in the iTunes window on the right. Click on the Sync Apps heading. Select all of the apps in the list below the heading that you want to transfer to the iPad. Click on Apply in the lower right corner of the main iTunes window.

  • .IPA Files not working when I try to install them on my iPod Touch

    Hi all
So recently I tried installing a .IPA file from the internet. It installed on my computer fine, I clicked it, it opened in iTunes, and then I tried installing it onto my iPod 4. the blue progress bar on the PC and the iPod were going fine until it reached the end, and I was greeted with a error message saying the app failed to install.
I'm kind of a noob with this sort of stuff, so if someone could please help it would be much appreciated.

As you found out, you can only install apps purchased/obtained from the App Store. Alls are licked to the account the "purchased" them

  • .ipa file will install in iTunes and copy to iPhone or iPad but shows as greyed out with "installing" or "waiting" underneath.

    Hey All:
I have an .ipa file that is legit and "signed" (at least I think so) but for some reason will not work on any device. I basically drag the .ipa file into itunes app section and it will show there as a working app.
I select the button that says "install" so that when it syncs it puts it on my ipad or iphone. Once I move over to the iphone or ipad the icon is greyed out with the words waiting or installing under the icon.
Waiting for a half a day at one point before I finally gave up and deleted it from my devices.
Can someone point me in a direction as to what I might be doing wrong? The only thing I can think is that its' not io7.1 compatable but that is all I got.
    Thanks
    Paul

I am assuming you where generating the .ipa file using a UniversalDistribution  Provisioning Profile with an iOS Developer Enterprise Account. If so I had the same problem - turned out it was a Certificate issue - what worked for me was when creating the Certificate which I did manually using Keychain Access I left the Common Name field blank and the .ipa installed properly on my devices. Hope this helps.

  • Cannot install IPA on my ios 5 devices."A signed resource has been added, modified, or deleted."

    Hi guys..
I've spent the last 3 hours wrestling with this.
I'm using flexbuilder 4.6 on pc, with air 3.1.
I'm using my mac to do the installation on the device.
I used to be able to deploy the ipa files output by flashbuilder 4.6 to my ipad, and iphone. I cannot anymore. I don't know if it's because of ios 5, or lion, or what..
I could never install the ipas in windows,
I always used the iphone configuration utility in os x to install; but now I get "A signed resource has been added, modified, or deleted." every time I try.
Same thing happens in xcode organizer.
If I try via itunes it just creates the app icon on my ipad in loading state and never finishes.
    Things I've done:
I've created entirely new provisioning profiles and app ids,
I've verified that the profiles are indeed valid: I did this by changing app identifiers for some of my cocoa/xcode projects),
    I've turned on/off devices/computers etc.
I can't tell you how utterly frustrating a night it has been, especially seeing as the turn around time to verify in xcode for cocoa apps is about 20 seconds, but the workflow with air is like 5 mintues a time. and each time ends with no hint whatsoever as to what is wrong.
Is there anyone else out there who's had this and worked around it - or someone who can put me out of my misery.
I literally can't do any testing at all right now... wtf..

    Hi George:
    Answers to following will help.
    1. Can you confirm that this is iOS 5 specific? (I mean do you see app being installed on iOS 4.X but not on iOS 5?)
    2. Can you tell us what all things are you packaging along with App Descriptor and App SWF?(And overall size of assets?)
    3. your mobileprovision file is not modified. If you havent done this already, you can try by downloading the provision again from store.

  • "Entitlements are not valid" error message when trying to sync ipa file from iTunes to iPad

Is anyone else getting this error message, "Entitlements are not valid",  when trying to sync .ipa file from iTunes to iPad?
The issue I'm having is getting the ipa file that was built by the 'Adobe Flash Packager for Iphone' installed into my iPad.
So, I have a swf file that works and was able to publish it into the Android Market.  I then compiled and build the same flash project with the Packager for Iphone into an .ipa file.  But when I try and install this .ipa file into my iPad to do my testings, i'm getting the error message.
I would like to test my ipa file in my iPad device before submitting it to the Apple Store.
Any help would be appreciated. thank you.

Developing for iphone can be amazingly complicated and frustrating.  (even before you start coding).  The process of having to create a Certificate, to approving the Certificate, to Assigning the deviceIDs to the certificate, to creating the AppIDs, to creating the provisioning profiles and then creating the .p12 file... is just too tedious.
I solved the problem of the "Entitlements are not valid".   The AppID i had set in the iPhone Developer Portal did not match that of the AppID i had set in the Adobe Flash CS5 -> Publish Settings.  (ie. com.yourdomainname.yourappname).  After I re-entered my AppID and compile, i was able to sync the .ipa file into my ipad.
I wish the error message had been a little more descriptive.  Could have saved me a whole day.
I hope this helps others.  But my guess is, if you don't set the 40 character device ID correctly, or the email in the signingcertificate correctly, you'll get this same generic error message.

  • AIR 3.9 and iOS7 Build Release .ipa File Cannot Start

I build a release build .ipa file and installed on iPad running on iOS 7.0.3. But weird because my app stuck on start screen with my logo.
Debug .ipa file is running correctly, just problem with the release build .ipa.
I build using Flash Builder 4.7. If I build using IntelliJ IDEA the app icon grayed and cannot be opened.
Any idea what's going on with my build file?

You're right, I didn't realize if there's an error on the top of my debug console:
MATE Error: Method not found, turn on the debugger for more information
EventType:config event. Error was found in a EventHandlers list in file ApplicationEventMap
I'll try to fix this. But on my recent build, the file cannot be installed successfully on iOS7. The icon turned gray and when I press the icon, it will shows "installing" forever.
    ---UPDATE
No error anymore on debug mode. But still the same problem
And the "installing" forever problem was because I use wrong provisioning key.
Once the application start, it stucks on splash screen just showing my logo. I've wait for a couple mins but nothing happened.

  • CS5.5 trial publish ipa file issue

I'm using cs5.5 trial version. When I complete all the certificate and provisioning file locate in the publish entry and press publish but no ipa file being created. only a folder named "AOTBuildOutput720866926256539637.tmp". Does anyone know what's the reason? Thank you in advance.
    Leo

Pretty sure the P12 should work, so long as you created it correctly on your Mac (after all the certificate installing, you go into Keychain Access, find the certificate, and right-click on it, to select the Export option).
During the time Flash is publishing the IPA, there is a progress dialog. When it's finished there may be a subtle beep noise, but there is no dialog to say that it succeeded. There is a dialog if it failed. So, if the progress gauge has gone away, and there's no error dialog, then there is an IPA file somewhere.
Make sure you're trying all this on a Saved FLA, otherwise the IPA file is going to be buried deep in a temp folder somewhere. If you have saved the FLA, the IPA should be in the same folder.

  • Export ipa file for an iPhone application

i did an application in flash cs5. i attached p12 certificate and provisining profile file. But when i choose "publish" for creating an ipa file, it is running. at the end, there is nothing. i look in folder. i see two files, one of them an tmp file, the other a folder  "AOT.....". it doesn't creat an ipa file. why ? what can i do ?
    please help me...

    one of two things...
    1. The publishing is still in progress. those files/folders are temp while the publishing is in progress and is usually cleaned up once it's done and the ipa is created.
    2. if the packaging fails or stops abnormally, then the temp files/folders don't get cleaned up and the ipa is not created.
Possible reasons (all of which I have had happen to me from time to time):
    1. I was having problems with publishing when spybot 2.0 beta was installed, it was Hooking java and causing it to crash. (system your systems application event log for possible java errors) (Flash uses a java compiler)
    2. You do not have enough memory... increase the size of the heap in your jvm.ini (just google it, there are tons of reference material on flash memory management)
    3. There is some code someplace in your project which is causing the compiler to crap out
If you can't figure it out, try doing a command line ADT build to see if it gives any additional errors that may be surpressed by flash (I've had that happen too)
    Good luck.

  • Apple Configurator.ipa file linked to Apple ID

Is there a way to separate a free app deployed through the Apple Configurator from the Apple ID that was used to download the .ipa file in the first place.  The association with the original Apple ID causes the two to be linked and therefore users cannot update the App without entering the password of the originating Apple ID.

AirWatch can't take a backup of an iPad and redeploy that image such as you'd use in Symantec Ghost.  It can deploy apps based on a specific configuration that you define, but it's not as seemless as Apple Configurator where you can force any app to one or many ipads at the same time with the click of a single button.
There's a downside to deploying apps via Apple Configurator though and that is the binding of the Apple ID to the app which also affects how that app is updated.  Back to gyrhead's response to my question, "You could use a generic organizational Apple id for the Configurator piece just for this purpose and provide everyone with the log in credentials for it" but even this isn't fool proof.
If sharing a single Apple ID works for you, then you have your answer.  As a workaround to avoid sharing Apple ID's, I've had to delete the app that was loaded by Apple Configurator and ask the user to re-install the app from AirWatch's App Catalog or push it OTA from AirWatch's console.

  • How to download my uploaded .ipa files of an app?!

  • Why are the apps I download from itunes .ipa files?

I understand that .ipa files are for jailbroken idevices, but when i download apps (all free so far), and i go to (eindows explorer) my music\itunes\itunes media\mobile apps, all the files are .ipa files.
Not me or anyone else in my family have had anything to do with jailbreaking or cydia. Is it the fact that they're all free apps?
    thx

    i am qwerty wrote:

That's not correct. All Apps are .ipa files.
An App for a jailbroken device may well be in .ipa format, but that's not relevant to you if you haven't jailbroken your device.
Someone writes an App for Apple iDevices. By definition, it's an .ipa file.
The App is submitted to Apple who effectively vet it for behaviour unacceptable to Apple.
If the App passes Apple's vetting, it gets into the Store and you can purchase it, either for a cost or for free
If the App is not passed by Apple - or not even submitted to Apple because the author knows it will not be accepted, it isn't in the Store.
Jailbreaking allows people to install Apps that Apple have not accepted into the Store. It doesn't seem to dawn on many people that the reason Apple may not have accepted an App may be because it will harm the iPod, make the iPod unreliable or compromise their security.
    You have no need to worry. My additional comments about jailbreaking are to serve as a warning to anyone else who reads your thread in order to deter them from jailbreaking. Further reading can be found here;
