Install Ipod touch after a basic iPod

Hi,
I just bought an ipod touch to replace my old basic one. i wonder how to install the new one without loosing all my music library from my computer? Do i have to create a backup of my library first and to initialize my itunes ?

You should always have a backup of your music library. Simplest way to do so is to copy your iTunes Music Folder to an external hard drive or DVD, etc.
But adding an iTouch will not delete your library, just connect it and follow the instructions. Be sure you have the latest iTunes before you do so.
But I would back up your library now, before you set up the Touch.

Googling shows that you have the 1G iPod. For apps you need at least iOS 2. The iG can go as far os 3.1.3 that you get here:
Purchasing iOS 3.1 Software Update for iPod touch (1st generation)
Just be aware that there are presently not that many apps that work with a 1G with iOS 3.1.3

ITunes not recognizing original IPod touch after new one installed

I tried to set up new IPod touch but itunes wouldn't recognize it. Downloaded latest version of itunes. Was able to set up new IPod touch but now old touch not being recognized by itunes. Went through the troubleshooting guide with no positive results. Old (unreconized) touch is fully charged. Restarted computer. Restarted itunes. Changes usb ports. Nothing working. Any ideas?

iPods & Finder. Some other postings incorrectly lead me to believe that the iPod would show up in the "Finder". Thanks for setting me straight on this.
iTunes Not Recognizing iPod Touch. Prior to your posting, I had already read the article you referenced (to remove and reinstall the Apple Mobile Device Service per article "http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1747").
Prior to your posting, I had also read other articles in various "Apple Discussions" (forums) that suggested this recognition problem could be resolved by uninstalling/re-installing iTunes 8.0.2. Some implied that you could just re-install iTunes 8.0.2 right over the currently installed one without bothering to uninstall it.
Based on those postings, I "gambled" last night and simply downloaded and re-installed iTunes 8.0.2 (without uninstalling it first). I noticed during the installation that the Apple Mobile Device agent you referenced was also re-installed. Well, my gamble paid off! After the installation (and a reboot?), iTunes onces again RECOGNIZED my iPod Touch.

Correction: Thank you FoxFifth for the good information. I did find this information earlier before landing here in the support community. I have come to the end and I am uncertain about trying to reset my I-pod touch to the factory settings. I was satisfied with the older version of i-tunes. Can someone direct me how to downgrade i-tunes perhaps?

I have de-installed and re-installed iTunes (according to Apple's instructions), repaired Office 2013 and Outlook, scanned for viruses (etc), cleaned out temp folders, defragmented, etc., etc., etc. Has anyone seen this before, and does anyone know houw to fix it? hi! an error message showed on my device last week and Apple support helped me restore the software on my device. Syncing went well and all my apps were available after. However, when I looked at my music in my device, it did not contain anything. The songs were in Itunes on my laptop and when I tried to play them they did not play. But, it says music is available for my account in the cloud. When I switched to the cloud, I was able to play my music already. But everytime I synced, the music from the cloud are not transferred to my device. Most of the music that I have are from other sources. How do I download those again to my device? I tried what I did before which was to copy the song from my laptop then edit paste it to iTunes but this did not work like before when automatically it becomes available on my device.

Can't burn blank CD after installing ipod software - I have the system prefs set to launch Toast 6 when inserting a blank disk, and the drive just churns and then ejects the CD. It mounts and runs burned music and data disks with no problem.
My job requires me to burn data disks from pictures I take at work. Should I re-install Toast? The OS? I ran Disk Utility to check/fix permissions, and no change.

The CD that came with the nano won't have anything on it that you won't get with a full iTunes install. In fact, it may have been an OLDER version of the iTunes software than what you had installed before.
I'd reccomend downloading the latest version of iTunes from Apple and installing that to rule out software reversion issues.
If the problem still exists, try booting into toast before inserting the blank disk and see if Toast can still burn to the CD. If it can, then odds are you have to re-instruct your computer to boot toast when a blank CD is inserted. If it can't see the blank CD, or the Finder spits it out again, then I think you'd have to re-install Toast.

Computer automatically restarting after installing iPOD

I installed my iPOD yesterday and since I did, my computer restarts after I close my browser windows. No matter what time I go on any program, after I am done doing whatever, internet, itunes, my documents, whatever, it always restarts. Whats going on? Also before I installed ipod, it would charge no problem. Now it only charges when updating files. Called tech support, no help at all. I have a 1.1 usb port. Please help. I am very disapointed. Also I have 30GB ipod.

i would recommend a usb 2 card they dont cost to much. this will more than likely be the cause of your problem
