Install Itunes, message says newer version of Quicktime is already installe

I have tried every which way to uninstall Itunes and Quicktime. When I try a new install Itunes it stops and says a newer version of quicktime is already installed, then I close out of that window and the next one says that Itunes can not be installed without Quicktime. Help, I have spent most of today on this and i am ready to toss my computer and Ipod!

Okay, we're now going to try uninstalling iTunes and Apple Application Support (if it is still present on the system). Then we'll reinstall iTunes, which should reinstall Apple Application Support as well. We'll also take a few additional explicit precautions along the way.
First, download and save a fresh copy of iTunesSetup.exe (the itunes installer file) to your hard drive. (Don't run the install on line, and don't start the install just yet.)

Quit QuickTime and Safari 4.0.4 if you have them open. (They both use Apple Application Support, and will interfere with the uninstall if they are open.)
Now head into your "Uninstall a program" control panel. Uninstall iTunes. Uninstall Apple Application Support (if it is present).
Next we'll clear away any leftover program files and folders.
In "Computer" open "Local Disk (C:)".
Open the "Program Files" folder.
Right-click on the "iTunes" folder (if it still exists) and select "Delete".
Open the "Common Files" folder.
Open the "Apple" folder.
Right-click on the "Apple Application Support" folder (if it still exists) and select "Delete".
Empty your recycle bin and restart the PC.
After the PC restarts, don't open any applications. Disconnect from your network and/or the internet. Now disable all your security software (firewall, antivirus, antispyware).
Now start the iTunes reinstall by doubleclicking on the iTunesSetup.exe file you downloaded earlier.
Reenable all security software prior to reconnecting to your network and/or the internet.
Did that install seem to go through okay? If so, does your iTunes launch properly this time?

    Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for *at least version 3.0* of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
    If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
    Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install CleanUp"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any QuickTime entries and click "Remove".
    Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?
    (If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)

    Knowledge Base article 301913 explains, briefly, about these "recovered items." It used to be common in pre-OS X systems & is now very common in Tiger. I can't remember if it also happens in Panther.

    I since have manually removed the quicktime folder from my program files. I have used the search feature to look for instances of quicktime and can't find anything else. I have even, at the advice of another, gone into the registry (start, regedit) and then removed quicktime folders found under apple computer. I have run "advance system care" in hopes to clean up the registry.

    I installed my new Nokia software for my phone on my laptop which messed up so I did a system restore.
    Since then Itunes and Quicktime stopped working.
    After following a lot of stuff other people had tried I'm now at the stage where if I download the combined itunes/quicktime installer it tells me a newer version of Quicktime is already installed and if I download the stand alone Quicktime installer it tells me that the configuration data for this product is corrupt and to contact support personnel.

    go to microsoft free downloads and install the "installer cleaner"
    use that to uninstall Quicktime.
    close it and then open "my computer" "local drive' "windows" "system32" and delte any folder or file in there with Quicktime
    close and then go to my computer/local drive/program files and delete any Quicktime. Close
    Go to web and download the 7.3 version - it worked for me (after 6 hours, registry cleaners, etc ..and finally help from Apple)

    I'm not sure about your problem but i can tell you that since my girlfriend updated her phone to 4.3.5 it doesnt let her put pictures on. I hadn't updated my iphone and could put pictures on my phone. Since i have updated my iphone to 4.3.5 i can not put pictures on my iphone either and results in my itunes library crashing and closing. How do i email apple to let them know of this prob?? Quicktime files would not play so I downloaded the newest version of Quicktime and an error comes up saying, "A newer version of quicktime is already installed. This installation of Quicktime can not proceed while the newer version is installed." I can't find a newer version on the computer and the application seems absent. Only suplimentary Quicktime files are found. Please help.

    I'm having this exact same problem. I have a Gateway running Windows XP Media Edition.
    I can't run quicktime, it says it's not there. I've tried uninstalling using add/remove and it says the uninstall.log file is missing. I tried uninstalling using the QT uninstaller option in its folder, it says the uninstall.log is not there. I tried 'repair' option on the iTunes+QT installer that I downloaded. Still the same issue.
    I tried the stand alone QuickTime installer and it tells me "A newer version of quicktime already exists".
    I tried deleting the residual quicktime folders from my c:\program files. I tried deleting the residual QT references from my regedit. I downloaded the MS Windows Install Clean Up and looked in there--found 2 more things that could possibly be quicktime related and removed those. I tried again -- same error message.
    I'm not sure what else to do. I'd really like to get Quicktime and iTunes working by Christmas so I can sync my shiney new iPod.

    I now have the exact same issue. I have thoroughly cleaned any trace of Itunes or Quicktime including the Registry and still it thinks there is a version of quicktime on this pc. I was able to find an older Quicktime and Itunes 7.5 and they will install, but I didn't run it before trying to run the 7.6 version install. It continued to say a new version of Quicktime was there but its not. I don't know where they are looking to see if a version exists. They should have a way to force an install to overwrite no matter what is on a PC. Are you listening APPLE??????? Get with the rest of the software world. Guess I should go get a Zune...

    Check to see if you are up to date on iOS by going to Settings > General > Software Update and update it if it needs it. Then update Pages one that is done by going to the App Store.
