Install j2sdk-1_3_1_03-win Problem

Dear Sir/Madam
I downloaded j2sdk-1_3_1_03-win. The size is 43,484kb.
I installed JDK to my computer, but I cannot run it at all. I tried to run every application file in C:\jdk1.3.1_03\bin, but every application file still did not run. There is not java icon in the bin directory. Also I checked the Start ->programs ->Java 2 SDK Standard Edition V1.3.1_03 [there are Java 2 SDK Readme.html and Java 2 SDK Readme] and Java 2 Runtime Environment [there is Welcome to Java 2].
My computers operating system is Windows 98 (2nd). My computer's mainboard is MS-5187b (MICRO-ATX V16 Mainboard). Can you tell me how to solve this problem? Thanks.
I appreciate your reply.
Best Regard
Allan

Hi,
you have to set the classpath in the auto-exec.bat file etc, There is no executable which you can run. Go to "your first cup of java" in the java tutorial to read about how to set the environment variables

    Please help,
when installing j2sdk-1_3_1_02-win.exe on win2k professional I am getting the error "Java 2 Runtime Environment setup failed with error code of -1". I am not getting any error with jdk-1_2_2_011-win.exe. Is it something related to machine specific? Is there any thing i need to configure before installing j2sdk-1.3.1_02?
    Thanks,
    Ramesh.

    Ramesh,
I am having a similar problem with the un/re-installation of the NetBeans IDE. When installing the first time I was prompted to enter a working directory and the directory structure was entered incorrectly. When re-installing the software it did not prompt for the working directory... instead the directory was set to the previous "wrong" path. I can't seem to find anyway to fix this issue or find any files to delete in order to get a fresh install. Anyone who can help your comments would be appreciated.
    Thanks

  • [Newbie Urgent]: Impossible to install j2sdk-1_3_1-win.exe on W2K SP2 & SP3

When running the above mentioned installation package, it starts unpacking normally, but when the unpacking has finished and when you are supposed to be seeing the actual setup/installation, nothing happens !?!?!?!
I do have following processes in my W2K task manager:
    1. NTVDM.exe with right underneath it (tabbed): setup.exe & wowexec.exe
    2. j2sdk-1_3_1-win
    but nothing happens anymore ?!?!?
Not even after reboot and re-upgrading to W2K ?!?!
Have a PIII 1,13GHz IBM TP A22P with 384Mb RAM, 1600x1200 ATI video card & 30Gb HD on which there's still about 14Gb free.
Could someone please help me out ? I'm getting desperate and I really need to get this thing going urgently !
Thanks in advance for any helpfull answer !

I've tried your inputs. As soon as I kill NTVDM.exe, the j2sdk-1_3_1-win process is removed a couple of seconds later from the list of processes as well and the killing also causes the removal of the unpackaged files from my temp-directory ;-(
Started j2sdk-1_3_1-win.exe again, made a copy of unpackaged files from my temp-directory to another directory, killed NTVDM.exe and launched setup.exe, but pretty much the same happens again: it seems as if something is starting (windows hourglass mousepointer for couple of seconds) but after couple of seconds: nothing happens anymore ?!?!?
When checking Taskmanager, I find following again:
    1. NTVDM.exe with right underneath it (tabbed): setup.exe & wowexec.exe
Seems that I cannot launch the setup.exe without launching the NTVDM.exe automatically with it ?!?!?
Any further help or inputs are much appreciated.

On my system these commands are in /usr/local/bin
It would be great if this path can be added to the j2sdk installation program.
    regards,

    Pierre,
Why don't you add those paths to the .profile of the
user which is used for the install of the sdk? Since
/usr/local/bin contains some of the most used UNIX
commands it would seem logical to have that in the
default path or am I missing something here (I am a
UNIX user not admin, so maybe there are reasons not to
    add this to the path???)
    Cheers,
DavidI installed the sdk as root, and it has /usr/local/bin in his PATH variable.
    Pierre.

    Hi everyone,
When I try to install J2SDK 1.4.2_02 I receive an error message telling me that J2SDK cannot be installed because the java virtual machine (doesn't tell which one) is in use.
I have no java virtual machine running, confirmed by task manager and other third-party programs. And if I install JDK 1.4.2 (no revision) I have no problem.

Rebooting has no effect whatsoever on this problem; even if you can now get the SDK installed, a non-administrative account won't be able to use the JRE in it, nor will the user be able to use the other JRE installed in the default location.

I am receiving the error code (-50) when trying to access the itunes store. The original itune songs etc were installed on a win 7 32 bit system and I have now moved to a win 7 64 bit system (same PC) and have copied the folder across. Has the switch from 32 to 64 bit caused the problem? Is this why I get the error code? I can, however, access the itunes store to view my account. Any ideas please?

  • Labview app developed in Win XP wont install properly on win 7

I developed an app which had hard coded path filenames and built the installer to install them in those specific directories.  I.E. : c:\Program Files\app\myfile.txt.  I ran this installer on a win 7 machine and it put the files in the directory C:\Program Files x86\app\myfile.txt.  As a result, the program does not work because it is looking for the file in the original directory where it isnt.
How do I get around this problem and allow my app to be installed in either Win XP or Win 7?

That second example you linked to has nothing to do with project build or installation directories. It is an example that is related to this: Why Does My Executable Not Work When Using the Current VI's Path Constant?
    id wrote:
Since this new Get System Dir.VI has many more selctions, have these features been incorporated into the project build tool?
What exactly are you asking here? The building of the installer uses symbolic names for where the files should be placed (ie., "Program Files" to indicate whatever folder is specified as the installation directory). Thus, a user can select to install the application onto some other drive, such as "E:\YourApp", instead of "C:\Program Files" (or "C:\program Files (x86)" on a 64-bit system). There should be no reason for you to set these paths in the installer specification. This simply moves the path hard-coding from the code to the installer. How is this any better?
Your code should use the Get System Directory VI to get the paths programmatically.
You should also keep in mind that Windows 7 has further restrictions on the "C:\Program Files" and other folders (such as the root drive). This has come up before, so you can search for these posts. If you want to save something programmatically, under XP it was not an issue, but under Windows 7 it will be an issue if your target is the "C:\Program Files" directory, if that's where the application was installed. Microsoft created the "C:\Program Data" folder for post-installation, run-time saving of files by the application.

  • Installing j2sdk 1.4.0 on RedHat 7.2

    Hi,
I've tried following the instructions on how to install the SDK on linux and it doesn't seem to be working. The instructions I'm following can be found at:
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4/install-linux.html
It seems to install correctly, but when I try to run java or javac, it gives me:
    bash: java: command not found
When I ran the rpm.bin binary file, it runs through the license agreement and then asks to install. I say yes and it inflates j2sdk-1_4_0_01-fcs-linux-i386.rpm from j2sdk-1_4_0_01-linux-i586-rpm.bin. The file it inflates isn't the same filename as mentioned in the instructions.
I then run rpm -iv j2sdk-1_4_0_01-fcs-linux-i386.rpm after changing to root and it says:
    Preparting packages for installation...
    j2sdk-1_4_0_01-fcs
If someone could help me with installing, I would be very appreciative. Also, if you could tell me how to set my CLASSPATH, that would be helpful as well. Thanks

    Hi!,
I'm trying to install j2sdk 1.4.0.01 on RedHat 7.2. When I run the bin file (installation file), after the installation instructions and licence listing, Unpacking is done and after checksumming...., I'm getting the following error message "The download file appears to be corrupted. Please refer to the troubleshooting section of the installation instructions on the download page, for more information. Please don not attemtp to install this archive file". If I check the file size that given in the site and the size of the file for installing, there is no difference in the size.
One more observation is, I had successfully installed JDK1.4.0 on RedHat 6.2 with the same download file and it is working fine. Any sugestion for this problem would be helpful.
    Thanks in advance
    Ravi.

  • Can't install itunes on Win 8 x 64

    Ok,
Point 1) I downloaded itunes 11.1.0.126 - I do an install and all goes well until it rolls back and tells me there is an error.
Point 2) I read the FAQ's which say remove previously installed Apple software. I do that. Same problem.
Point 3) I do it all again, and remove Quicktime, and edit the registry to remove all references to the program, and other Apple programs.
Point 4) I install again. Same problem.
Point 5) I now try to re-install Quicktime Pro (my version is 7.74,bought and paid for!). It won't install either.
    So, what is going on?
I am running Win 8 x 64bit. Before the update everything was working well. I tried to re-install the earlier version of itunes thinking that if there was an issue with the new version I could use the older version. No, it won't install either - same issue.
Any advice or assistance would be greatly appreciated as Apple Support don't seem to be interested.
    Thanks

No longer an issue since I upgraded to Windows 7.
