Install Lightroom to a new PC

To whom it may concern,
Having got a Lightroom 5 on my old PC, how could I install it to my newly bought PC? My OS is Windows 8.1.

Download the latest version from the Adobe download site, 5.7.1. Make sure you get the Stand Alone version and not the Creative Cloud version. Then just run the installer on the new computer. Have the serial number handy for when you start it for the first time.

Are you getting activation errors? As Ned stated , it is easier to troubleshoot if we have the specific type of error and error detail that you are getting.

Download it from Adobe. I doubt Lightroom 2 will run correctly on a new Mac that probably came with OS X 10.10.

your serial number is good for the mac and pc versions. but don't transer anything. install lightroom onto your imac.

I can not use my serial numer to install Lightroom on my new computer?

I bought Lightroom 5 not even a year ago, and I have an official serial number, that is also confirmed with my profile. Still, when I got my new computer today and try to install Lightroom, it won't let me use the serial number. Why???? I don't even have the old computer anymore, and my Lightroom backup is on my ext hard drive.

I bought a new computer a couple weeks ago, and just purchased Lightroom 4 for editing photos. I downloaded the program (Lightroom_4_LS11.dmg), but when I click on it, it says that, "The following disc images could not be opened" because it's "not recognized".
How do I download and install Lightroom 4 properly??

I've tried to re-download it a few times on firefox, and then switched to Safari, but am still having problems. I will try it one more time on Safari. Is it normal to encounter this much difficulty? Am I missing something?

I've just got a new imac and I already have Lightrrom 4 on my old one. I'm sure to most this is a VERY simple question so sorry in adance but believe it or not I cannot find the answer in any forums. How do I reinstall Lightroom onto a new computer?
Can I do this somehow using the serial number? I'm sure the licence allows use on 2 machines so I dont think I have to purchase again.
When I go into order history on my adobe account page, I thought I might be able to download it from there again... but cant see this option.
PLease could any replies be in simple speak and not too technical.

How do I install Lightroom onto my new computer after old computer crashes?

My old computer recently crashed and I just got a new one (MacBook Pro). I had Lightroom 3 on that computer and I need to get it back onto my new computer. I have the original disc, but my new computer doesn't have a disc drive! How can I do this?? I also have the same issue with Photoshop CS4, but I don't have the disc for that. Please tell me this is a possibility without having to re-purchase everything!?

This isn't an "I told you so" but since I just learned how well it works, I'll pass this on to you.
START using Time Machine to back up...it's the greatest way to move all your old apps to a new / restored hard drive without all the cruft from the old one which probably caused the crash. If you ever crash again, reinstall the OS and then restore from Time Machine which will bring in all your apps and preferences and you will be right as rain in no time.
Sorry to hear you crashed, glad you've gotten a lot of good advice here.

Tech support was NOT helpful at all. They told me to trash the application on my old computer so now I don't have access at all!

One more impotant information is Mac OSX 10.8.x was not in presence at the time of Lightroom 3 release.
Niether, it was tested on Mac OSX 10.8.x hereby you can try to install it but we cannot ensure about any problem in installation or functioning of application.

Is Lightroom 4 still installed on the old computer? If it is then you can get the serial number from there. If it isn't, and you registered your copies of Lightroom with Adobe then you can log into your account and get the serial number from there.
