Install my inDesign cs5.5 on new PC

After the 2nd failed attempt to move my inDesign cs5.5 to my new computer, I am completely lost. I downloaded the first of 2 files (5.1Gb) and when I attempt to download the 2nd, I get this error message: The file archive part of Adobe cs5.5 Master Collection is missing. You need all parts in the same folder in order to extract. What should I do now?

first thing to try is reset InDesign:
delete the preference file located here:
system > users > home folder > library > peferences > com.adobe.InDesign.plist
then repair the hard drive:
shut down the Mac
restart - then press shift key immediately after the chime
keep pressing shift untill the Apple logo appears
let the Mac boot to the desktop - it will take longer to boot as it is repairing the hard drive
when desktop appears, restart the Mac normally

You probably don't. CS5.5 was a paid upgrade, not free, and it is no longer distributed by Adobe or resellers.

I am looking for any help regarding customizing the installed features of InDesign CS5.5.
Basically what I want to do is remove certian functionality and options such as:
From new Document, remove option for Web page and under the Windows menu items such as Interactie, etc.
Reason I am asking is that we want to keep certian folks focused on their assigned tasks and not having the options available which takes them off task would be very helpful and keep us on schedule.
Basically want to keep the Print functions and remove all items that do not pertain to producing Print materials.
Any help and or advice will be greatly appreciated.

Actually, this is entirely doable, at least with respect to the menus. The scripting interface allows you to add and remove arbitrary menu commands.
However I'm not particularly interested in helping you with this task, because I find the idea of trying to control people in this way to be abhorrent and inconsistent with my philosophies. Perhaps you can find someone in the Scripting forum who is less particular, or willing to take your money to do this. (But it's really not hard.)
Removing the Web intent from the New Document is not so easy, however.
I'm not aware of a straightforward way to do it, but you could probably do it with a Plug-In (thinks scores of billable hours of programmer time). You could also remove New Document entirely and replace it with a script that mimics the dialog but omits the print options (an hour or two of time). Or depend wholly on templates.
But I find all this morally repugnant, so good luck, but I think you should not do this.

Is it possible to install/use InDesign CS5 with an InDesign CC subscription?

I need to use InDesign CS5. From the trial, I'm taken to a purchase page where the only option is to buy the CC subscription. After removing the trial and running the CS cleaner to get rid of everything and running the CC installer, it downloads InDesign CS6.

We have built an InDesign plugin that need to be tested against CS5.
If it's impossible to use CS5 with a CC account, why is that the only option you're given when you click 'Buy Now' in CS5?

Crashes in Indesign CS5 related to New Pages and Smart Reflow

Anyone else having problems with page related crashes (linked to the LAYOUT ADJUSTMENT.APLN module in ID CS5 on Windows 7 x64, according to the crash report). I get regular crashes when text or table overflows and a new page is created using Smart Reflow, or when manually adding new pages via the New button on the Pages panel. The latter seems to be linked to clicking the new page button repeatedly to create several new pages.
I am working on a document created in CS4, so this might be the cause. I tried to recreate the crash in a new CS5 document, but was not able to, although I could not get Smart Reflow to work either when Limit to Master Text Frames is unchecked.

I have the same, several files created in CS4 (with texts imported from Word). The files crashed in CS4, and CS5. CS4 Windows and Mac, CS5 Windows 7. It definitely has to do with adding pages and overflowing text, exactly as stated. I was not happy to buy from my own money this very expensive software to have it crash 20 times the first day I used it. And at least a 100 times on the third day. That felt like Windows 3.1 to me. You have to know exactly what to do not to let the program crash. I spend 9 hours on figuring out how to get all the hundreds of hours of work back from my crashing Indesign. I managed to get from completely unstable (crash every minute) to workable stable (10-20 crashes a day). I could now write a manual on workarounds "how not to crash CS5", yet cannot prevent all crashes (yet). Expensive software like this should definitely be better at preventing crashes. I still am sorry I didn't keep to MS Word! It works and crashes less than 5% of the time that Adobe does. Has less features, yet does basic features better (like footnotes, autonumbering etc). I have a very serious deadline and Adobe keeps on crashing.
Oh, and YES of course I export to IDML. Spent more money on OT fonts because I didn't trust my TT fonts. Googled like a madman for solutions. The went back to Zen and not sleeping just to get my book to the printer.
Do I sound frustrated? ;-)

Installed Production Premium CS5.5 on new comp - How do I get my settings back?

So I just managed to get my copy of Production Premium onto my new iMac, and I thought I'd begin by opening an old project on Premiere Pro and seeing how much faster I can render it.
I pressed the usual keyboard shortcut I assigned...and nothing...then remembered, I would need to restore my settings to get my shortcuts/layouts back!
Luckily my workspace layout came back, I think it's part of the project file?
Anyway how do I get the rest of my settings back? I have a backup of the old Mac on Time Machine and I was looking through the application files/folders but can't seem to find anything. Can someone direct me there?
I didn't restore my iMac with Time Machine, I decided I'd start fresh so I can organise the computer a bit better, so I had to do a clean install of Production Premium.
I know this is the Premiere Pro forum, but what about Photoshop brushes and settings? And After Effects layouts/settings/plugins?

I did that, and it went through the steps for restoring from the time machine backup. I didn't click on "restore" just yet... My concern is that when the guy in the shop tried that, it resulted in the serious failure that required the drive to be removed and formatted from another computer.
I'm wondering what might have caused that - is it possible that the external drive had a failure, or (more likely) that the drive caddy it sits in briefly lost power or something?
Also, can you tell me if simply drag-dropping the files from the time-machine backup would result in everything returning to its initial state? Or is that (as I suspect) a bad idea?
Right now I have a fresh Yosemite install which works. I'd rather have that, and slowly restore my files and apps manually than risk getting the same result as the guy in the shop. Do you think that restoring from the restore partition is worth trying again?

Missing words creating PDF with Acrobat 7 (newly installed InDesign CS5)

Since a few days I have some curiosity creating PDF files!
Randomly the PDF output is missing whole words in the document but having spares in the right tracking for them in the document.
It occurs that the missing words are subject to another font however not all words in this font are missing in the document.
Also my printer tell's me if he's going to print the PDF (in this case a serial letter with pre-stamped addresses) his computer is breaking down completely and also printing hieroglyphs.
This document was printed from MS Word 2003 with "Adobe PDF" as printer.
I also use FreePDFXP, though the same error comes up.
In addition I tried several settings for the PDF with no effect in the outcome.
I am still working with Acrobat 7 (from CS2 suite) under WinXP Professional SP3 and hadn't any problems before installing my InDesign CS5 upgrade a few days ago.
I only can assume that the problem is InDesign CS5 but cannot prove it.
Anyone an idea on how to solve the problem?!
I am really annoyed about this since for the pre-stamped letters I already paid money to the mail service and the need to be in the mail today - otherwise I am loosing several 100 Euros to the paper-bin).

However I checked all the settings in the joboptions. All fonts are to be embedded (100%) and I also actively selected the fonts to be transferred.
I am using TheSans from LucasFonts as Open Type.
For my document I have SemiLight as standard style and Bold for accentuation.
While the bold style will be printed in "bold only" lines, it is not printed in lines/paragraphs where also the SemiLight style is used.
When I change color of the words in bold, the effect inverts and only the bold style words are displayed but not the SemiLight text!
I have a second laptop with the same system and software configuration (Win XP Professional SP3; Acrobat 7), where the same document runs smoothly.
That's why I assume, that it must be the Indesign CS5 upgrade causing trouble (it's the only new addition to the first laptop).
Unfortunately Adobe has no answer here also.
The only solution would be to adopt my documents for this effect and follow the logic of the machine instead of my mind...

I have tried customer service but they "have used all resources" and still unable to assist. And there does not appear to be anywhere I can post this for more advanced help, so...

As far as I know there's only one installer. Very few of the programs are 64-bit at this point, and the installer should be able to tell the difference and load, for example, only the 32-bit version of Photoshop on a 32-bit system. ID is only 32-bit.
Try downloading the installers again, just to be sure they weren't damaged. I'd be tempted to run the clean tool, too, to remove any traces of the failed install (maybe run System restore, too). See Resolve installation problems with CS5 Cleaner Tool
I usually try to turn off all non-essential startups and services in MSconfig when an install fails this way, then reboot (This is as close as you can come to Safe Mode without being in Safe Mode -- the installers won't work in Safe Mode) and try again.

Installing cs5 upgrade on new pc

i cannot install the upgrade cs5 on my new pc and adobe site dose not have my serial number for cs2 on the my product pages. my old pc with these on is busted so i cannot get it there

In my opinion you have to contact Adobe support with the proof of purchase of your cs2 , if you have bought nad lost the serial number they can help you.,
once this will be clarified I believe you can go ahead and install cs5 upgarde.

Installing InDesign CS5 Trial

Hi All
I'm tryting to install the InDesign CS5 trial, every thing works OK right up untill it starts copying the files, as which point I get lots of errors all seeming to relate to a 64bit OS.
Im running 32bit Vista OS with the latest updates and service pack installed.
Does anyone have any ideas how to solve this issue?

InDesign CS5 won't launch with OS X 10.10

I'm trying to use InDesign CS5 on a new MacBookPro with OS X 10.10. When trying to open the app I get a notification that I need "to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime." I have Java 8 installed on this computer and I don't think I can, or should go back to Java 6. What do I do now?

CS5 may not run under Yosemite.

Indesign cs5 key fails on windows 7

Hello,
I recently upgraded my computer. On my old xp machine, I had Indesign installed with a valid key. I deactivated this key.
I then installed indesign cs5 on the new windows 7 machine, but my valid key from the xp machine is invalid on the windows 7 machine.
Any idea why?
